Morning came. The sun began its ascent in the sky while Lily's eyes slowly came open. She couldn't remember when she fell asleep, just that there was still some light out when she snoozed away. Looked like she had a full night of uninterrupted sleep. Good. Cranky Lily was worst Lily. Hard to think her mood could get any worse, but it very well could when pushed. A fact many of her friends knew all too well.
Lily turned around in bed and looked surprised to see Dallas laying next to her. He must have crashed after she already fell asleep. The brunette could only hope his decision to crash with her was indication that he didn't hate her after her outburst back in the baby's room with Remy. Lily slowly moved her hand on his shoulder and shook it slightly.

Dallas had been asleep when Lily shook him. Sleep had not been the most peaceful. His dreams where... Strange. Yet when the woman shook him he woke. His eyes blinked a few times before his hand went to wipe at his eyes. "Mmmmmm" he groaned. Clearly, he didn't want to be awake just yet. There was a pause before he sighed. "Yeah.... I'm awake. He said with a yawn before stretching. He rolled over to his back and covered his arm over his eyes, not yet ready to face the day.
“Liar,” replied Lily in a teasing manner. Her way of trying to lighten up the mood. If that was even possible now.
Lily scooted back a bit while staying in bed. Not exactly in the mood to stand up either. That meant she'd have to put on pants eventually, and honestly it felt good to have them off. Obviously, she hasn't had the time to shave, so they were pretty hairy. No point worrying about it now when things were trying to eat you.
“Look, I'm sorry about the way I acted in the room. I didn't mean to upset you.”

Dallas wasn't in the mood to talk about last night, but Lily was being honest with him, he felt she deserved something in the way of acknowledgement for it. His free hand moved up and waved her off. "No worries Lily, it's done and over now." He wasn't going to hold her against it, but he really didn't want to bring it back up. He just wanted to move forward.
Somehow, Lily was expecting more. She wasn't about to push her luck and press the issue. If Dallas wanted to talk more about it he'd bring it up himself. There was plenty of things Lily didn't want to talk about, and hadn't talked about. She'd be a hypocrite trying to push herself on him when the roles were reversed.
“Glad to hear it.”
Lily removed the sheets on her side of the bed and rested her feet on the floor. She grabbed the jeans laying down on the ground and put them back on, standing up to finish pulling it up to her waist and buttoning it up.
“I want to start looking for the others today. I know it's a long shot, but...”
Lily turned around to face Dallas again.
“I seriously need to get away from these people. Just for a little while.”

Dallas knew she'd want to go out looking for the others, it was a very long shot indeed, but they could at least do a search of the city while they were at it, see what was still there to be used, or taken. "Yeah... okay." He didn't want to wake up, not yet.... Why had she gotten up? Why had she woken him? A yawn escaped his lips and he lowered his arm. "Hmmm...." He complained as the light hit him square on. It was bright. He forced himself to his elbows, still on his back. He looked to her. "At least let me get a shower before we run around this damn city."
Seeing Dallas' reaction to the light, Lily chose to close the curtains so the man wouldn't be blinded. She had been so eager to get into bed after yesterday's bullshit that she forgot about it entirely. Last thing she expected was Dallas laying next to her when she got up. Not that the sight wasn't welcoming.
“A shower sounds good right about now. They should have everything working. Try not to use up all the hot water I'm thinking about taking one myself.”
Lily went over to the pillow and pulled the still loaded handgun out from under it and put it back in her jeans pocket.
“Probably shouldn't have bothered to put on pants yet. So, Dallas, how come you joined me in bed? Would've thought you'd be up in Remy's room eating and drinking wine.”
Lily didn't bother to hide her resentment when she uttered the woman's name. Goldilocks was the number one reason Lily wanted to bail for a little while. She was still tempted to leave, but she wasn't going anywhere without Dallas. Definitely wasn't going to leave him here, and he seemed set on staying with the group despite all the shit they've gone through already.
'Remember whose house you're in? It's an apartment building. Food and wine? I'm not eating your food, or sipping your wine, so fuck off! I don't owe you anything. You're all well and good playing leader when everything's peaceful, but as soon as shit hit the fan others have to pick up the slack for you. You're lucky Dallas showed up when he did or likely more of your people would've died back in Oklahoma!'

Dallas sat up and rubbed his eyes. Why had he slept next to Lily? He didn't have an answer. So, he did as any man would do. He shrugged. He stood up and ran his hair through his hair. "I was tired...." He said after a bit. It was the truth. After all he had dealt with yesterday, he really didn't want to be around anyone. Lily was already asleep, and he knew her from back in Kansas, so it wasn't like he would have to explain sleeping next to some strange person..
Yet here he was, being asked to explain his actions. Women.... Such a pain sometimes. And Lily was worse. She was loud mouth and opinionated. On top of that she wasn't into men. Talk about a swing and a miss. Not that Dallas had ever tried to get with her. "What do you care who I sleep with?" He said with a chuckle. It was meant as a joke, not an insult. He had no problems with her being gay. It added to the competition, but he liked her well enough. Besides, all the women were pining after one in particular in the old group. It was rather amusing to think about. A group of women, you'd think they all be after the ONLY male in the group, but nope. They all wanted the woman who bossed them around. Dallas enjoyed his time with them, it was both amusing and strange.
“I care when that person happens to be the personification of the Black Plague.”
Exaggeration much? Lily was talking about Remy again. It didn't occur to her she was with the cop because Lily hasn't honestly paid much attention to the group's dynamic. But she also didn't assume monogamy. For all she knew Remy was polygamous and wanted a harem out of the men in the group with Army Guy and Cop Guy at the lead. Then again, she was Southern. She was probably a bible thumping, gay bashing, racist, sexist, Confederate flag wearing bimbo before all of this. So much for not making assumptions about other people. It was only then that Lily realized the man was making a joke.
“Oh.”
Lily stuck her tongue out in response and sat back down on the bed.
“I don't like Remy. There, I said it. Don't trust her, either, or the cop. Especially not after the way he went off at you in Oklahoma. As for the others? I don't know. I guess it's easier to just hate them all as one unit instead of... instead of getting close to people again. I'm not naive, Dallas. The thought of the others not making it has crossed my mind. That's what I'm afraid of. I feel like every second I spend dealing with the politics of this fucking group is another second I could be using to find them.”
Lily didn't mean to dump all of this out on him early in the morning, but if she couldn't be open to her only friend that she knew was alive, then who could she be open with? Her gun? Guns didn't make great conversational pieces.
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
