Being a conformist is so over rated. She said with a cheek smirk. Before the apocalypse, she was quite the jocksters and the smart ass which she still is to this very day. She had changed in some ways, but her sense of humor was still there and that was probably one of the things that kept her somewhat level grounded.
The way he described her time in Dallas was almost to a tee. How did he know so much? Unless he was there? Could he have been a cop that was trying to bust her crew and her that night or could be he the actual cop that chased her through the city before she lost him in a car she stolen. That operation was such a bust and she had never failed a mission until Dallas.
Were you the cop that chased me? She asked, sitting up on her elbows, looking dead at him with somewhat serious eyes. She could tell that he was gearing up for a bad reaction from her, but he wasn't going to get one. Why waste something like that on the past and besides it did prove one thing that she knew she had over him and was going to rub it in his face once he confirm her question.
"I couldn't agree more..." He said with a bit of a grin. He couldn't help but notice that her sense of humor was similar to his. Perhaps a bit less morbid and dark, though their conversation hadn't gone that way so it was hard to tell. Regardless, it was nice to be around someone that didn't get offended by a well placed sarcasm or good smart ass comment. Even in an apocalypse people were offended, not that he really cared, just an observation really.
There was still a bit of moaning outside, and some things being broken could be heard, though the sounds were more distant. Even though the conversation was good, Eli's ears were pegged on the door. By not trusting any location or any person, it was far easier to stay alive. That was a hard lesson learned.
As Harley sat up, a small smirk spread across Eli's lips. Though she leaned forward, he looked over her body, no muscles were tensed and a she didn't appear to be ready to attack. So, apparently she wasn't threatened by what he knew, kind of pointless to be really. Everything they ever knew was gone, forever, but some people had a hard time getting over that. He was quiet for a moment, meeting her gaze with his own, "Officer Black of the Dallas SWAT team. Not that it means anything now..." He glanced over her, as he introduced himself, a smirk still on his lips.
"You're fast... Where was you're migraine then? I got a lot of shit for not catching you, you know that?" It was strange to bring up something from before the apocalypse, but at the same time kind of refreshing. Though he honestly couldn't believe the odds, a criminal he had chased was sitting in front of him... hell, he'd saved her life. Funny world they were in...
Well this was a interesting turn for events. They had met before the apocalypse and not in a normal or go way either. Some people may have had a hard time letting go, but it was stupid to be that way right now when there were more important things to worry about than what had happened in the past. Course this new chain of events was actually somewhat alittle comical in her eyes.
Guess that proves it then...She trailed off before continuing. You couldn't kill me if you can't catch me. She added with a slight smirk before laying back down and couldn't help but to chuckle softly.
This is a small apocalyptic world we live in. She said softly. Hope your male ego isn't still bruise to this day. She added. She had grown up around men, more men than women and she knew how the male brain worked and they tended to not let thing go when it seriously wounded their pride and ego. She could only imagine the ridicule that he got from letting her escape, especially with how young she was back then.
Eli still couldn't believe, shaking his head a little as he played it through his mind again. Of all the people in the entire nation that could have been attacked and needed help, he found the one that got away from him; the only one that ever got away in fact. The odds of that seemed astronomical, but then again, they were sitting in the middle of a damned zombie apocalypse... Stranger things truly had happened.
As she spoke he narrowed his eyes, "Proves what exactly?" Though he didn't quite snap it at her, it came out a bit harsher than intended. As she responded and laid back, laughing softly, Eli shook his head, "If was trying to kill you, you'd already be dead... Besides, doesn't prove anything..." He had told himself if she proved to be a threat he would kill her; currently his mind was going through all possible options of seeing this as a threat, so he could in fact do that. Not because she was a criminal, there was no law, so she had broken no crime anymore. Mostly because he was afraid this horde wasn't going to move off anytime soon and he was stuck in a room with a gloating red head.
"..And getting smaller every day." Apparently, it wasn't small enough that everyone he had ever met was dead, yet, "If that's all it took to bruise my ego, I'd have died a long time ago..." As she laid there, his eyes slowly traced down her body. She was younger when it had happened, he remembered that, she looked young then. Now she looked... better, all things considered.
Obviously she wasn't threatened, so he lightened up on the handle of his gun. Realizing he once again had been staring awkwardly at her, he spoke up after a bit of silence, "I've got one question though... How the hell did you move that fast, and who taught you to drive like that?" Honestly that had been on his mind a lot after their chase. He never could figure out how she outran him, or out drove him. Though he tried to hide it in his voice, he was a little impressed... Still didn't trust her though.
She just rolled her eyes at what she said. Hopefully your aim is better, fi not then no you wouldn't be able to kill me, can't kill what you can't even catch. She said. He's tone was definitely alot harsher than before, but she let it past for now. She started to fell sleepiness over taking her, it was the fatigue and the migraine working together and against her.
Of embarrassment? She asked and just smiled to herself. Of all the people to run into, it had to be the one cop that busted her plans but he didn't catch her....he came alot closer than most people did, but he still did catch her and none of his bullets even grazed her. Her daddy taught her to well to be caught by a cop in another state on drug trafficking.
Abit of silence fell in between the two now and she wondered if what would be the end of their conversation till she perked up at his question. My dad taught me and the rest was just natural talent. She said in a somewhat boost full manner before sleep finally overtook her and she curled up next to Lilly, resting her head on the dogs stomach and was in a peaceful sleep.
When she woke up, she wasn't even sure what time it was. Her head ache was gone and she had her vision back in both eyes. She almost forgot that another person had stayed the night with her till Luna and Lilly got up when she did and everything that happened yesterday and last night came back. Wow, she was alittle surprised at herself that she fell asleep in front of someone.
"Well, if my aim was off you'd be dead no regardless wouldn't you?" He said, referring to earlier when he had helped her. In what little light there was, he could see that she looked tired, and inwardly he was wishing the migraine would take her out already. If she was like this with a migraine that nearly got her killed, what would she be like once it was gone? Well, hopefully he'd be gone for that part.
Ignoring her other wise ass comment, he was admittedly a bit curious when she mentioned it was her dad that showed her. After all, doing drug deals and driving cars fast usually wasn't what most fathers would teach their daughters. This woman was obviously unique though, so he was guessing her family was too, before he could even respond though, she was out. He watched her for a moment, as her dogs watched him. Noises in the town showed the horde was still here, damn, it was going to be a long night. He wanted to be gone before she woke up, but it wasn't looking good.
Slowly he picked himself up and after grabbing his backpack and the light, made his way to the back room. There wasn't much there, but it was better than sleeping in the main room. If the walkers broke in, he'd rather they found her and the dogs and stopped there. After all, he still didn't trust her. He leaned against the wall, laying his axe down beside him and holding his gun. The hours of the night passed slowly, and he only managed to sleep for an hour or two.
After a long, sleepless night (as usual), light from a rising sun began to shine through the cracks of the door. In the main room, Eli stood at what was once a counter, a can of food and some jerky sat around him as he stared at a map, marking a few spots with 'x's. Movement on the floor caused him to grab his pistol of the counter as a reflex, forgetting that the red head had been asleep on the floor... He wasn't used to company. Outside, light moaning could still be heard, some walkers had stayed it would seem, which explained why Eli was still there. Standing at the counter, he pulled a bottle of water to his lips, glancing at the woman on the floor, "Morning sunshine..."
She rubbed the sleepiness from her eyes and tried to focus her vision on the other person in the room. She suspected that he would have been gone before she woke up, but the moans that were coming from outside of the house told her a different story. What time it is? She asked as she went through her bag and pulled out some clean cloths to wear. She was going to have to find a clothing store soon, she only had one outfit yet in her back pack.
She opened a can of beans for breakfast, drowning it down with what was left of her bottled water. She didn't really get a good chance to scoop this place out last night with her migraine and just trying to find her dogs something to eat. Once her breakfast was done, she headed to the backroom and changed into jeans, white tank top. She brushed out her hair, braiding it into a side braid and loaded her revolver. She checked her weapons and her supplies. Water wasn't a issue since she had a water purifier, but she needed clean cloths and maybe more arrows for her bow. She could just make them....but maybe look around this town for a hunting store before doing that.
Once she was all good and ready, she joined her two dogs who had sat patiently outside the door for her. She rubbed their heads, getting them more food and found a tubberware to store some extra dog food to take with them just in case if they would have trouble finding rabbits and squirrels for them to eat. She checked her bow, making sure it wasn't damaged and counted her arrows. She was missing one of her throwing knifes and remembered that she hadn't bothered getting the knife out from that walkers head.
She went to the window, barely pulling back the cloths that were covering them to get a view of what they were dealing with. There was about five or six that she could see from the window and there wasn't any telling how many there were in the small town.
Did you happen to see a hunting store or a clothing store when we came here yesterday? She asked him, moving away from the window and went to a counter that was two counters away from him and sat down on it. Luna and Lilly sat down by her feet, listening to the walkers.
"Almost seven, thought you might have died in your sleep there for a second..." The tone in his voice suggested that he was also hoping she had as well. Though, he didn't mean much, it wasn't like he actually wanted her dead. He just liked toying with the idea. Not that it mattered though, he had told her he would part ways with her after this and intended on staying true to that.
As she began to move around and apparently get ready, Eli downed the last of his jerky, and water. He shoved the bottle into his back pack, saving it for later when or if he find any clean water again. Though he wasn't worried, he had enough to last him for a while. His biggest concern was where to go next. All the towns he had visited to the west were swarmed with walkers, now this horde here. He had a feeling it didn't have to do with them, the further east he went the more there seemed to be. Perhaps moving out from the bigger cities looking for food. Either way, it was only making it harder to travel.
The red head was busy with her own thing, until she walked past him to the back room. He didn't pay much attention until he heard the sound of clothes being removed and changed. He glanced up for a moment, distracted with his thoughts. Dammit He muttered under his breath, moving down the counter a ways so the hopefully he couldn't hear her, it didn't help. She's a distraction, I need to get away from here. He thought to himself, though he wouldn't let himself admit what kind of a distraction she was being... She was an ass, and he didn't trust her, or so he kept telling himself.
When she finally left the room, Eli was packing up his map into his bag. He checked his axe before slipping it into its sheath, then did the same for his pistol. All his gear was good it would seem, "The town spreads out further to the South, I noticed a clothing store a block down yeah... Why, you looking for a new summer dress?" Eli asked, folding his arms and raising a brow, clothes were generally low on his list of priorities.
"No telling how many walkers are out there though, and they aren't moving on... I was waiting for the sun to rise so I could see what was coming, gonna be a shit storm out those doors I imagine..." He glanced at her dogs and her before zipping his bag shut and sliding it in front of him, "But I guess this is where we part ways... I can go first, draw the attention if you want, then you can go see if there's any good discounts." Eli was many things, but he was definitely a man of his word. They had agreed on coming only this far together, and he would honor that... Despite the fact that the company was actually a little nice, even though he wouldn't admit it.
In your dreams I would die in my sleep. She said in smart ass tone before getting everything ready and her backpack was organized. There wasn't anything in the store that was worth taking and they could catch lunch and dinner in the woods if necessary.
She rolled her eyes at his comment. If you didn't noticed, my shirt was covered with walker blood and walker blood doesn't look good on me. She said as she took out her hunting knife. She didn't want to waste any arrows or bullets for that matter, but she wondered how many there were out there. Luna and Lilly were ready for anything, they were tensed and the hair on the back of their neck rose up.
I would rather just finished these walkers off before I go cloth shopping. She said as she went to another window, opening the curtain some, not alot but enough to where she could look out with one eye and saw alot of walkers, more than she thought. She quickly covered the window back up and looked at him. There's alot....more than fifteen..... She said. There wasn't any way she was going to get any supplies from here, this was more of a kill as many as you possibly can and just run like hell.
You ready? She asked as the door was unjammed with the piece of aisle that he had placed there and unlocked the door, looking at him for whenever he was ready. Luna and Lilly both were ready, teeth bared and growling.
"How did you know what I dreamed about last night?" If this woman thought she was the only smart ass around, she was sorely mistaken. Eli was a warrior through and through, but his mouth could often pack as much of a punch as any gun. Though, he was secretly enjoying it, it was nice to have a bit of a verbal and mental fight with someone that could actually keep up.
As she spoke, Eli picked up his back pack and slipped it over his white undershirt, his long sleeve shirt was packed up. His clothes had definitely seen some miles, but he was always more concerned with killing and not being killed to worry about wardrobe, "Well I disagree... I think it goes well with your hair, and matches the intensity in your eyes." The sarcasm dripped from every word as he moved closer to her. As he did so, his hand ran over his holstered pistol, confirming its position. Next he glanced down at the knife strapped to his thigh before grabbing the handle of his axe and pulling it out of the sheath on his back.
The sounds of moaning confirmed what the red head said, it was obvious there were quite a few outside. As she moved the aisle and unlocked the door, his grip tightened on the handle of his axe, "Well there can't be more than thirty..." Why couldn't there be more than thirty? Because if there were, he was screwed. Surprisingly, his heart was beating quite steadily, in fact, it almost felt as if it was beating slower as he controlled his breathing. His muscles tightened up as he stared at the door like a boxer about to step into the ring.
At her question, his eyes glanced toward hers. Somewhere deep inside, near his locked up and bound emotions, he felt the tiniest feeling that he was going to miss her company. Well, not her company specifically, more so just having company... Ok, maybe he'd miss her specifically just a little; she was a little fun, "Well, so long Harley Quinn, good luck..." There was no sarcasm in his voice, in fact, he almost sounded sincere! He gave a slight nod, signalling to open the door.
The moment the door swung open he stepped outside, a walker was standing only feet away with its back turned. He swung his axe and ripped into the undead skull, dropping it before it even knew he was there. Unfortunately, a mob of walkers in all directions began to turn around and face the new threat; Eli. There was a moment of silence as he stared at the scattered undead, and they at him... Damn, this was truly going to be a shit storm... To late to turn back now. He ran to his left down the street, immediately the walkers began staggering towards him, some actually moving quite fast for the undead... This was going to be a long day.
It didn't feel right to her for him to practically use himself as walker bait just so she could get out of there. The door swung open and he was the first to step out, taking down the first walker and soon the other walkers turned their attention to Elijah. She stepped out, taking down a few walkers, but most of their attention was on Elijah.
She looked to her right, seeing a clearing that she and her dogs could take but she didn't want someone dieing, especially after he helped her. She quickly took her bow, pulling back a arrow and fired. She ran towards the horde, pulling the arrow out of the walkers head and fired another shot.
Suddenly, more walkers joined the horde and this was starting to get out of hand. Head towards the woods! She shouted at Elijah, taking out her hunting knife and stabbed a walker in the head. Luna and Lilly were taking down walkers as much as they could. Lilly knocked down a walker that was only inches away from Elijah and looked up at him before she took off into the woods to their right where there weren't any walkers.
The moment Eli had stepped out of the house his mind seemed to clear itself, his face lost all expression, and his movements became surprisingly calm. Since the time Eli was a little over eighteen years old, he had been fighting in some highly intense situations. Not to mention the training that came with all those years, made it so that the world seem incredibly uncomfortable out of combat and almost calming during it. That among many other things was likely the cause of his restless night; if his adrenaline wasn't pumping, he got jittery and uncomfortable.
That all being said, while he may have been calmer than most as the horde followed, that didn't mean it was comforting. After all, in combat with humans if you lose you'll probably just get shot. If you lose to the undead, you'll wish someone would shoot you. So Eli moved down the straight, as he did so a quick glance behind him gave him the count of around ten walkers. As he jogged though, he saw them coming from behind stores and houses in the little town, on all sides. It would seem the massive horde they heard last night, never left.
Eli's jogging slowed down as he saw quite a few walkers coming in front of him down the street. Pausing for a moment and lowered his axe, he calmly looked around as they began to surround him on either side. The moans grew louder and his heart began to beat a bit harder as his brain began to send "Oh shit" signals to the rest of his body. At that same moment he heard growling apart from the moans. Glancing to his right he saw Cujo and Toto ripping in to the walkers that were focused on him. A little ways in the distance he saw Harley taking on a few walkers of hear own, and while he couldn't hear her, he saw her moving into the woods outside the town; her dogs following close behind.
Quickly, Eli sheathed his axe and slipped out his pistol, no sense in being quiet anymore. Glancing around him, he saw they were closing in, only feet away on every side except for the area leading toward the red head. Now he had a hard choice, did he want to die, or be near the red head again. Decisions... decisions...
Damn it all! Raising his pistol he moved to his right, firing three times into a walker, twice in the chest and as he closed in, once in the head. It dropped to the ground, and he did the same thing two more times, clearing a small space toward the red head, which he immediately bolted through. As he ran through the space in the walkers, one of the undead fell forward and grabbed his ankle, causing him to slam into the ground as he ran. The air was knocked out of him, and he felt the asphalt rip his pants and shirt, tearing his skin a bit as well as he slid forward.
With a heave, he rolled on to his back and shot the walker holding on to his ankle in the head. Quickly he shot two shots into the horde coming at them but there were too many. With only three shots left, he carefully aimed, calming his heartbeat and ignoring the bit of pain. Boom, Boom, Boom! The shots rang through the town, each one tearing through the knees of one of the walkers leading the horde. The force of the bullets ripped apart its knee, causing it to fall forward, as it did so, knocking over several more undead.
It wasn't a kill shot, but it bought Eli enough time to scramble to his feet and run toward the forest. Though he didn't look down, he could feel the air on his legs; apparently having ripped the thigh of one of his pant legs. Once again though, survival outweighed his concern for clothing. As he moved forward he got closer to the forest he could no longer see the red head. He assumed she had gotten smart and saved herself... it's probably what he would have done... After all, there were no heroes in the world anymore.
She thought that he would behind her, but the more she ran and didn't hear another set of foot steps besides her two companions did he become clear that he was no longer behind her. She quickly stopped and turned around, seeing no sign of him and heard three or more shots coming from the town that she had ran from. She didn't hear any screams, but that didn't mean that he wasn't dead.
Most people would have just turned around and kept running. Maybe that was the smartest thing to do, but the guy did save her and the least she could do was return the favor, even if it meant that it may not benefit her. She quickly made her way back towards the town, hoping to not find the walkers feeding on a body. She ordered Lilly and Luna to stay put till she got back, she didn't want to endanger them anymore today.
Taking out her throwing knifes from its holster, she was prepared for the worst possible scenario. When she finally made it back to the edge of the forest, she saw that he was still alive but it looked like he was bleeding from his leg. Without even thinking, she grabbed his arm and pulled him into the forest. A few walkers were trying to follow, but not before falling over dead with a throwing knife to the head.
She didn't know if he was bitten or not, only time would tell and they needed to find a place to hide while this horde past. Once she made it back to where Luna and Lilly were, they headed out into the woods again and came to a abandoned car. She quickly opened it, letting everyone inside first before she crawled in the backseat and laid down beside of the man. The windows were already covered up so they didn't need to worry about the walkers seeing them. Luna and Lilly were laying down on the floor while the stranger and her were laid facing each other.
Walkers bumped into the car, making it move as they stumbled in hungry anticipation to the meal they thought they were going to find up ahead. It felt very weird being this close to someone and especially a stranger, but at the moment she didn't move from where she was laying till she knew that the horde had past.
Every step Eli took forward began to burn more and more in his right thigh. Pausing his running for just a moment, he glanced down at his leg to see what the problem was. The investigation revealed his pants just below his hip had been ripped open, and they were already turning a dark maroon color from blood. As he moved his leg forward, he could see several shards of glass sticking out of the asphalt burns; apparently he had fallen on some debris. That explained a lot. For a moment he was afraid he had become a wimp and was feeling all the pain from simple road rash, the fact that it was worse actually helped his ego a bit.
Ignoring the ever more intense pain in his leg, Eli pushed himself to run harder, holstering his pistol as he didn't have time to reload it. As he neared the edge of the trees he gave a quick glance behind him only to see the horde staggering behind him at a fairly quick and ravenous pace. Without warning, as he was looking behind him, he felt a pair of hands grip tightly onto his arm and jerk him to the side. Instinctively, Eli reached down and ripped out his combat knife, ready to slam it into the head of... Harley?! What the hell?! He was so shocked to see the red head pulling him, instead of a walker, he didn't even notice her throwing a few blades.
Why the hell had she come back for him?! Was she an idiot?! Any intelligent person would have cut their losses and let Eli die (though he probably would have survived this one regardless...). Then again, maybe Eli was so used to the way he acted that her trying to help him was actually normal behavior. Regardless, by the time he collected his thoughts, she had pulled him to abandoned car. The windows were dark and dirty, he saw her plan, if the walkers didn't notice them they could probably hide inside. With imminent death only feet behind them, Eli tore open the back door and dove onto the seat.
The instant he landed on the seat, he heard the dogs climb into the front and suddenly another body jumped in, landing on the seat with him. Only minutes earlier, Eli had expected never to see the red head again, now it was kind of hard not to see her considering their faces were only inches apart and their bodies were touching more than he'd like. The car began to shake as the ravenous undead bumped into it, so Eli remained silent, staring into the hazel eyes that were only inches from his... though he didn't dare move for fear of making the tiniest sound that might alert the walkers.
This didn't stop him from narrowing his eyes at the red head and giving her an expression that blatantly said I don't like this... and I don't like you... Though somewhere deep inside he couldn't lie, kind of felt nice to having his body pressed so close to an incredibly attractive woman. Albeit incredibly awkward and strange feeling, if she weren't so damn annoying, and they weren't surrounded by a thousand hungry undead, he might actually enjoy the position...
He probably thought she was a idiot for coming back to him. She could say the same thing for him when he came to her rescue so maybe they were both idiots. They stared at each other as the walkers walked by their car, some bumping into it hard enough to make the vehicle shake and she barely breathed, afraid that the walkers could hear even that. Her dogs laid low, not even making a sound as well. She was glad that they were smart enough to understand that in certain situations, it was best to just not be dogs for a moment.
She narrowed her eyes back at him, wanting to throw a insult or two at him for being some kind of dumb hero that would allow himself to get hurt like that but she didn't dare speak. Both of their bodies were pressed lightly against each other and she could really figure out how muscular he was. In all honest, he was her type when it came to looks but when it came to personality though, that was a different story.
Finally the car stopped moving and after a few minutes, she sat up and wiped some of the dirt away to look out. She saw the last walker lightly hit the bumper before it followed the rest of the crowd. She gave a soft sigh in relief before remembering that his leg was hurt and looked down at the wound. It didn't look like a walker bite, more like he had scraped his leg on the gravel. Your welcomed. She shot at him and frowned.
The situation was incredibly tense to say the least. Just getting into the car had been a gamble. If a single walker figured out they were in there, it was all over. The car wasn't going to stop them, but with the amount of them, they weren't going to be able to run from them or lose them. So while it was the only choice they had, it didn't make it less intense. Not to mention the fact that two people who didn't get along too well were forced to lay together wasn't making it less tense.
Funny, in a situation of life or death how you could still dislike someone. Eli saw as she matched the look he was giving her. Though he couldn't lie, she looked pretty good when she was upset. He could feel she was pretty fit as well, not like he hadn't noticed before though. In fact there was a lot about her... Whoa, wait. Mentally he shook himself, was he really just complimenting her attributes? The walkers began moving on, and it looked like they were going to make it.
As the situation calmed a bit, he found it harder and harder to resist noticing her features, and noticing more than before how close they were. Thankfully she sat up, Eli let out a his breath when she did. Both because the situation was passing, and because it allowed him to focus on other things, like how his leg hurt like hell.
"Yeah, I had it under control..." Eli whispered out, he knew the walkers weren't far. Glancing down at his leg, he saw several large shards of glass impaled into it. Slowly he reached down and pulled one out with a very slight wince, revealing it was a little over an inch long. He didn't pull the rest out, or dare move much. While the walkers were moving away, he knew that they could easily be alerted and come back, so for a bit longer he was going to have to lay here with the red head.
As their lower bodies were still touching a bit, Eli couldn't help let his eyes trail down her form before snapping out of it and looking back at her, "So... You keep forcing me into the compromising situations... You're not doing much to help yourself not seem like a rapist..." He quipped, whispering still, trying not to think about her... Damn women, they were all distractions, especially this one...
Yeah the glass in your leg really helps you move faster. She replied back and continued to listen for any more walker noise. Both her dogs sat up now and to her that meant there weren't any more walkers in the area anymore. She started to count how many throwing knifes she had left since she hadn't bothered getting them back and was more focus on trying to help the man.
Don't get to full of yourself, I was returning the favor. She said, purposely hitting his leg lightly before opening the car door and looked out, seeing that there weren't any more walkers. You have a first aid kit? She asked him. She sat down on the floor of the large car, holding her backpack in her lap and went through it to find a rag and started wiping some excess sweat off her neck and shoulders.
"I do actually; reminds me that I'm still human." He wasn't going to admit that he needed help from her, it would only give the woman fuel to annoy him more. Normally Eli didn't have a mentality or personality like this, but after being alone so long quite a few things had changed. Not to mention being around someone that was just as sarcastic as him seemed to encourage him to be more that way himself.
Eli sat up a bit as the woman spoke and moved toward the door, wincing and sucking in his breath as she hit his leg. Though he didn't say anything, the amount of swear words that began rolling through his mind were enough to make a sailor proud. As the foul language passed through his mind, he watched the red head open the door and peek out. She seemed calm as she closed the door again so he assumed they were safe enough for now. He sat up on the sit into a normal seated position, slipping his backpack off as he did so and setting it beside him.
"Well, I got something close to one." He said as he opened his bag and pulled out a small pack. It was filled with needles and thread, rubbing alcohol, and a few vials and pills but not much else. Carefully he looked over the cuts, pulling out several more pieces of glass and tossing them aside. Then he pulled out the alcohol, and gritting his teeth, poured it on. It washed away a bit of the dried blood and he winced slightly as it ran down his pants, which were fairly soaked with his blood now, though he didn't seem to care. Eli ripped off a piece of his already torn pants and wiped the cuts, revealing a few deep penetration wounds form glass but mostly scrapes from the asphalt.
It was obvious as he tinkered with his leg that he didn't really have the supplies to properly wrap it or take care of it. Though he was used to never having enough supplies, nor bothering with asking for help, so once again he was trying to simply make due with what he had.
Meanwhile doing his best to try and not get distracted by the red head, "Your dogs... fought pretty well back there." Eli said, clearing his throat slightly, though not looking at Harley. It was rough, but that was the closest he'd gotten to saying "thank you" to anybody in quite a while. Though he kept his eyes on his wound as he wiped it with his torn, blood soaked pants.
His wounds looked bad, especially the ones that were caused by the shards of glass. She didn't know how he would even react if she offered to tend to his wounds or even offered the proper bandages. The way he was doing it only increase the likely hood of infection and that was just as much of a death wish as being attacked by the undead. She opened her backpack, taking out the first aid kit she had and found the wrapping bandages she had and offered it to him. You might want to use these instead of your clothing. She said.
She cocked an eyebrow at what he said and looked at Luna and Lilly, who were busy licking their paws clean from the walker blood. It's what they were train to do. She said, taking out the red handkerchief and wiped the blood off their muzzle like she always did after they killed walkers.
Once that was done, she got out from the back seat and opened the driver side door. She wondered if this car would even run, it looked like it had been here since the outbreak. The keys weren't even in the ignition and there were no signs that the car was even being used currently by anyone. She removed the plastic cover on the steering column, finding the red, blue and yellow wire that were the battery, ignition and starter wire bundle.
It took about five minutes till the car actually turned one for a minute before turning off. She just cursed softly to herself before giving up. The car had been sitting there for to long and wouldn't even run. She would have just checked the engine, but didn't really bother doing that because if it was something that needed tools to fix and she certainly didn't have any equipment. So much for that....hoped it would turn on and we could have a set of wheels. She said to herself.
With the car not even working, she decided the next course of action would be to hunt. They needed to eat some lunch and she didn't want to go into her can food inventory. You know how to hunt? She asked.
