Skylar lowered her eyes, breaking the eye contact between the two. She felt Dale take his hand away from hers, and he placed his arm around her back. She walked next to Dale, the soft patter of her shoes on the ground. The mention of going to another group made Skye's stomach queasy. She liked the number of the group there was right then, not the mention the fact she isn't very good at meeting new people.
"Good idea." Skylar said quietly, unable to understand what the conversation between the adults were having. Skylar closer her eyes for a brief second, sighing, and chuckling to herself before looking back up at Dale.
"I'm not exactly the best at meeting new people." She explained to him, slightly smiling.

They started to walk slowly heading back to the main camp. Jake still waited for Gray to answer his questions. But he did keep an eye on Dale, while walking back. “So you guys nervous?” Jake asked with a warm smile to lighten up the mood. Jake had no clue how the others would react, cause maybe they didn’t want any more people. But he wanted to give other survivors a chance, especially young ones like this.
The atmosphere was relatively silent at that point. Jake came out with a question, attempting to break the newly formed ice, and Dale responded, first to Skylar, "No reason to be nervous," and then to Jake, "I get more nervous with every additional member we draw in to be honest I guess, so maybe I shouldn't say anything." He looked back at Skylar and shrugged, "We'll be back soon. It's not too long of a walk." He looked over at Gray, and wondered what he was really like, and without looking at Skylar, her skin against his palm, he wondered the same about her. He definitely wanted to know more though, which was unusual for him.
Gray shrugged, walking forward next to Jake. He peeked over his shoulder, and noticed Dale and Skylar behind him. The corners of his lips tugged at a smile. He turned his head back toward the woods in front of him.
"I'm not really sure," He turned his attention toward Jake. "Last time I was in an actual group, we got overrun by walkers." He looked down at the ground, slightly shaking his head. "We watched them die.." He whispered to where only Jake could hear.
Gray knew it was hard for Skylar to talk about the fact that she watched a few of the people she was getting close to, get killed by the monsters out there; not only the walkers, but humans too.
Gray continued to walk forward at a slowish pace. He heard what Dale said about him getting nervous. He understood what he was talking about. Gray kicked a few rocks while walking, and was beginning to look more excited about the whole new group idea.
Skylar walked alongside Dale, listening to her brother rambling on about their old group. He mumbled something, only meaning for Jake to hear. Skylar thought about the old group, and thought of how she let her only friend die. She shook her head ever so slightly, and she looked over at Dale. Her lips pulled up into a small smile, and she felt her cheeks getting red. She looked away, trying not to make it noticeable that she was blushing.
Skylar tried to focus her attention on the conversation going between Gray and Jake, but it was useless. She would end up staring into space and forgetting about the conversation.
"So," She spoke softly, turning her head toward Dale. "What's it like? Having a group, I mean." She said, slightly tilting her head.

Jake smiled with Dale his comment about getting nervous. “It will all be fine buddy.” He said with a smile. Then Jake turned his attention to Gray who was walking next to him. He felt a little sad as the boy told him they saw their last group die. “Well let’s make sure that doesn’t happen again.” Jake said with a smile as he patted the back of Gray.
After that they walked at a good pace. “We should reach the camp soon.” Jake said so everyone could hear it.
Dale, for the most part, walked silently besides Skylar until she asked him a question or started a conversation. He was wondering what Jake and Gray were talking about, but it was useless to try and figure out because of his hearing. He almost missed her question because of it, "Umm, most of the time since the outbreak I've been alone or with one other. I was with a group once for a short period, but I didn't stick around long." He kept the reasons why he left the group to himself. "I've been with this group a little while now, and how we all ended up together was through a lot of chaos with the group a few of them were with before, but really I don't know yet. We can figure it out together. So far it's been nothing but traveling. This is the first time we've settled down somewhere."

Gray nodded, and he continued walking forward next to the man. He looked down at his shoes, kicking a rock while he walked. He looked up when Jake announced that they were almost to the camp. Gray looked back at the kids and he saw them talking. He chuckled silently, and looked back down at his feet.
"So," Gray said, his attention still on the ground. "Where were you originally from before hell broke loose?" He said, looking back up.
Skylar listened to Dale as he spoke, and she smiled. "Same here," She said, sighing. "We were coming from Texas, and we turned on this road worth a lot of walkers. We got over run, so we ran to the river." She looked over at Dale.
"The last group I was apart of got over run by the walkers." She looked forward. "We watched them die." She said, frowning.
"I'll probably just stay by you during the first few days," She was referring to the camp. "That is, if you don't mind."

Jake looked at Gray as he asked a question. “I’m from Mississippi if that is what you mean.” Jake said with a smile. “And you guys?” he asked as he looked up. While he waited for an answer they kept walking. “Pfff the sun sure is hot, let’s turn around and go to the cold water again.” He joked.
Jake then looked up and could already see their camp. “Hmmm no red carpet, strange.” Jake joked. He stopped for a brief moment. “You guys ready?” he asked in a more serious tone as he looked at Gray and then turned his head in Skylar her direction.
Gray chuckled, much louder than he expected. He cleared his throat, and turned his attention to Jake. "Texas, born and raised." He glanced back at his sister. "She was actually born in Colorado; We were on a skiing trip with our family. You can picture how the rest happened." He spoke, slightly laughing.
"I'm definitely ready." Gray glanced over his shoulder to look at his sister. He smiled when he saw Skylar so happy being by Dale. He turned his attention back to road ahead of him, realizing how hungry he was. As if on cue, his stomach growled.
Dale walked silently besides her and listened as the camp came into view, "You can do what you like." He said flatly, but still smiled afterwards. He released his hands from her shoulder, and jogged ahead of the group a bit. "It's awfully quiet. I guess everybody found something to do."
