Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
- Kurt's biological family originated in Osnabrück Germany, Unfortunately for him he was unplanned, the high school mistake if you will. When his mother found out she was pregnant her family had been in the process of preparing to move to the US for her fathers work and so that mixed with the fact that she was scared out of her mind from only being sixteen she hid the fact from her family as long as she could.
When Mila couldn't hide the fact anymore and she reluctantly informed her parents they were outraged to say the least and gave her two options, Ruin her life by caring for a child at her age or give him up for adoption once he arrived. Being so young and having her admittance be answered by outright rage from her family had left her with no choice. Out of fear and nervousness Mila gave and when her newborn son arrived she gave him the name she had stuck in her brain for months before and withe a somber attitude she said farewell to her baby boy, Kurt Bolter.
Kurt's earliest memories consisted of cold, lumpy, uncomfortable bed's lining old cracking walls. as he grew he never really found any use in making friends, he didn't need anyone to keep him happy. As the years past and he grew older Kurt had been put in a plethora of foster homes, none really fit him however and due to his attitude he had always been kicked out within a few months. That was until he met Terrance. A Tank commander in the military Terrance was always very strict when he was home and his wife had adapted this same attitude over the years of being married to him.
Military discipline had been something that Kurt had never experienced before and at the age of fifteen unbeknownst to him was exactly what he needed and that commander from Montana slowly became his roll model, his hero. As the years past Kurts rage and angry demeanor diminished and the more he heard of his new father's history and things he had been through and learned what kind of man he truly was Kurt's drive to join and follow in the mans footsteps grew. On his 18th birthday Kurt joining up and made a point to put himself on the fast track towards joining the armored corps. To his superiors Kurt came off a tad cocky by how he stayed quiet and never really conversed past acknowledging order's and it had led to a few drawbacks. Mostly in the way of they didn't expect that he would strive in a commanding role. However, his superiors took into account his test scores and decided to give him a chance on the range where he would catch everyone that doubted him off guard.
When in the commanders seat of the M1A1 Kurt turned into another person, a confident, commanding, strategic mind replaced his usual quiet and unresponsiveness which, if his superiors were to be quiet honest with you caught them completely off guard, This man who never seemed to amount to anything, That always seemed to do the bare minimum to pass his tasks came to life and thrived in the commanders seat of that fifty-eight ton beast on tracks.
After passing all of his trials and moving to the armored school Kurt further showed himself as a capable commander and as time passed he was deployed multiple times either in the comfort of the US or in the hostile grounds oversea's Kurt slowly climbed the ranks and made the rank of 1st Lieutenant at the beginning of 2013.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
-Kurt had been stationed in the southern region of Texas when the dead began to show, once they had his tank regiment, all twenty or so M1A1's were swiftly redeployed to aid in the rescue effort in and around fort worth. He didn't know what they were but he did know one thing, that he wasn't going to let them have their way. they arrived at the joint air base in Fort Worth later that same morning after a hard burn straight north, arriving the place was already in a state of disarray and panic and not five minutes after they arrived in the base proper were all twenty of his tanks ordered to aid in defensive operations as the air force tried to rescue as many civs as they possibly could, Kurt had grown accustom to orders from superiors, in his youth he would have fought them tooth and nail but not now.
The day was spent slinging M830 rounds into whatever the creatures were that were trying to take bites our of whatever flesh they could find and as the day dragged on Kurt could have sworn they returned to resupply on Shape-charge ammunition at least ten times, even if it was probably more along the lines of five due to them removing all APFSDS shot from the tank as it was concluded that they were unnecessary and they would need all 66 of their shells to be HE based to cover retreats. Kurts regiment must have killed hundreds of those things that day, but hundreds more always came. As the day began to draw to a close Kurt and his men were ordered to fall back to joint reserve where they would hold out. Ordering his tanks to fall back to base the three tanks with him began making their way back as the amount of infected began to increase, Wonder how many people we saved. He asked himself as they started making their way back to the gates that led into joint reserve, firing their M830 shells every few minutes to clear the space between them and whatever these things where.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- As the days past and the dead showed no signs of going back to the depths of hell they crawled out of Kurt came to terms with his new reality, that he wasn't fighting to preserve his country but to preserve what was left of humanity, At least in his corner of the world. Kurt always came off as unapproachable to most and it led to him living a very secluded life while not on duty which if he was being frank with you was perfectly fine with him. He spends most of his time on base away from the civs these days, They're Collins problem after all. Kurt's daily life now consists of keeping his tank regiment in full operational readiness, Aiding in whatever campaign the Colonel has decided on and reading, He has a weakness for books and has a sizable collection he's gathered over the years.
