Moving towards Anne once again with Katey in tow Kelly stood and waited patiently for the woman to look her way. "Ma'am, Do you want us to just follow you in our truck? If it didn't have all our stuff in it I'd be more than willing to ride with you but well, It does and some of that stuff is special to us." she explained before feeling a tug on her shirt from her younger sister as she tried to tell her she wanted to get on the road and to safety. "I know Kat." she muttered to her back before returning her gaze to the woman across the way and awaited her response.
As much as Colonel McKenna wanted to get everyone back on the road and back to Belle Isle, her heartstrings tugged at the back-and-forth between Kelly and the younger girl with them, deciding to go ahead and wait until they got everything they needed. Raising an arm in the air with the fist clenched, McKenna pointed outward, a signal to everyone to halt and watch their respective sectors. "Get what you need, ma'am," she said. "We'll wait for you here and once you're back, we leave together...all of us, okay?" glancing over at the young girl for a moment and hoping she was making the right decision.

Listening as Mrs. Anne tell her to get their stuff together and that they would leave when their ready had once again queued a tug of Kelly's shirt from behind from her younger sister who was clearly ready to go. "Katey. Stop. I know, okay?" she said with a touch of annoyance in her voice now as she was interrupting Mrs. Anne at this point. "Yes ma'am, All our stuff is packed in the truck except what we have on us weapon wise so we're ready when you and your men are, all we gotta do is load up and get on the road." she answered before motioning to their truck parked a short distance away to draw attention to the bed of the vehicle and how it had a noticeable amount of odds and ends stacked in the back. "What's in that truck is everything we own ma'am."
Taking a step back as she felt a tug once again on her shirt Kelly polity excused herself to let Mrs. Anne go about what she needed to do to get the rest of her men and woman loaded and ready to go before turning on her heal and bending down to her sister's level. "Look, Katey. Stop being so impatient, There isn't anything to be worried about right now. I mean, look around you and what do you see?" she said before resting her hand on Katey's shoulder as the young girl began to look around the area at all of the soldiers and military vehicles scattered around. "What do you see?" Kelly asked again as Katey looked back at her
"Military.." she answered in a quiet voice.
"That's right. Military. The same Military Justin served with, the same Military that taught him everything he knew and allowed him to teach us. Now, if these people are from the same military that he served with then what do you think they're like?" she posed to her younger sister once again.
With a sigh of defeat Katey looked around once again before adjusting her vision back on Kelly's face. "They're here to protect us and they won't let anything get close enough to harm us..." She said again in a quiet voice.
"Exactly. So there's nothing to worry about." She answered as she began to stand up and pat her on the head for a moment before looking around at all the soldiers and vehicles herself to confirm what she had just said to herself as well. "That's exactly right." she repeated under her breath before noticing Mrs. Anne begin to go about her business. "Let's get loaded up Kat, Looks like we're about to leave."

As she watched everyone moving their vehicles around so that they'd be pointing back towards Belle Isle, Colonel McKenna nodded and smiled at both Kelly and the younger girl (whose name she didn't know of at that moment) before walking back to her Humvee and climbing into the front passenger seat. "We ready to go, everyone?" she asked; a chorus of "Yes ma'am's" and "Hooahs" were their reply.
"Alright, then, let's move out," she said, pausing to stick her arm out the open window and once more motion for everyone to fire up the engines; bringing her arm back inside and closing the window, she got on the radio to Captain Beloi, orbiting overhead of them. "Captain, this is Colonel McKenna, we're heading back to Belle Isle now. See you on the island; McKenna out." Setting the handset back down in the center console, she sat back in the front passenger seat and said, "Let's head home, gentlemen...let's head home."

Heading back to the truck that was parked a close distance away with Katey following close behind Kelly motioned for her younger sister to go ahead and hop in the truck as she turned to see what the sudden commotion behind her was, the sound of the trucks door opening and closing played in the background as she watched the men and women in uniform begin to load up and prepare to be on the way. "I wonder how close this place is." Kelly wondered to herself as she turned to climb into the drivers seat of the truck.
"So where are we going again?" Katey asked as Kelly opened the door and gingerly set her weapon in the storage space behind the seats and climbed in, Turning the key Kelly waited for the tell tale sound of the engine turning over and it roaring to life before she faced her younger sister to answer. "Well, I'd guess back to their base, Don't think those helicopters and trucks came from a magic portal or something do ya?" she joked as she watched all of the vehicles scattered around begin to face the opposite direction that she had parked her truck leading away from the wreck and the other soldiers that seemed to be staying to deal with the bus of survivors and the walkers that had shown themselves. Seeing that Ms. Anne had returned to her own vehicle as well Kelly faced forward as she watched the trucks begin to line up and decided that it would be best if she did the same. "We just gotta follow em and see where they lead us." She added before giving her sister a nudge with her shoulder and waited for the forming column of vehicles to begin to roll past her before taking up a position behind them to follow.
"I hope you're right about this Kelly..." Katey muttered as she watched the columns as well as they began moving by one by one. As the last one past the truck jolted to life as Kelly swung it around to follow suit with the others. "You think Justin's there?" Katey asked, not expecting a positive response from her sister as she watched the truck in front of them begin to turn the corner from the street they had started from.
"No, Kat. I don't think so.. I want to say that he'll be waiting for us but no.. I don't think he will." she sighed to her sisters question. "I don't know where he is Kat, But I do know one thing. You know what that is?" she asked turning to shoot a quick glance in her sisters direction. "What?" Kat asked. "I know he's alive, I bet you he's running some place around here or something by now." She tried at a joke again, this time failing and earning nothing but a disappointed glare from her sister. "Okay, Okay. I know Katey, I miss him too." she said before taking the first turn to follow the now moving convoy as it began to make it's way through the city on route to it's destination.

Crossing the MacArthur Bridge, Colonel McKenna kept her guard up and the Humvee drove past the outer barricade, looking out over the side and at the waters of the Detroit River as they proceeded across; the waters reminded her of the Sacramento River as it flowed through and around her hometown of Redding and for a few moments she tried to picture what the city looked like after the past four years of ruin and strife. Maybe I'll get to go back someday, she mused, as they passed the center of the bridge and began approaching the inner barricade; over the radio, she could hear the conversation between the guards at the tower - kudos to whoever gave it the moniker of Outpost 31 from that John Carpenter film, she mused - and the Belle Isle resident they'd met earlier.
As they got near the barricades, McKenna watched as the steel & concrete barrier rose up, its' canitlevered design rising up similar to a gate; passing under it, she grabbed her radio handset and called in to Belle Isle, letting Governor Sharpe (as head of the City-State of Detroit, that was her legal title) know they were back on the Island and on their way to Medical. Making the turn left onto the western road which led to the yacht club building, she could see Captain Beloi's helicopters orbiting overhead, lurking like rattlesnakes in the sky. Keying the handset once more, she spoke. "Okay, we'll be coming up on headquarters here in a few minutes; everyone new to the Island, please check-in with Medical; otherwise, please make sure that your seats are in their upright and stationary positions and that your tray tables are stowed away. McKenna out."
Setting the handset back down, McKenna tapped her vehicle's gunner on the leg; when he knelt down a bit, she said to him, "Sergeant de la Rocha, when we get back to headquarters, make sure the weapons and radios are good to go, then knock off for a while but stay frosty, okay?"

Kelly made a point to keep a steady pace with the rest of the column of vehicles as they moved through the few streets between where they started and what Kelly assumed was where they came from. Watching as the column began to turn onto a bridge spanning the length of the river that cut through the town and connected what looked like a small island, Is that where they came from? She wondered to herself as it became her turn to make her way onto the bridge. "Well, looks like we're here." she said to her sister as they continued to follow the column as they made their way across the stretch of bridge and onto the island proper.
"Where is here?" Katey asked as she watched the gates and barriers raise for the column as they drew near and stayed that way as the entire string of vehicles, theirs included made their way through and onto a road to the left that seemed to winded around the island. "Where are they leading us?" Katey asked suspiciously as she eyed the few buildings she could see, all of which seemed to have people moving around them. "Katey. Remember what I said. If the military is here, it's safe. Trust me." She repeated the key bit of information that she had reminded her sister of before they had set out. "Just stay next to me and you'll be fine." she added as the column began to approach what looked like an old Yacht club which led to Kelly digging her fingers into the steering wheel, She wouldn't let it show for her sisters sake but with every turn of the wheels under her feet she felt her nerves build. What if I'm wrong? What if they aren't actually military? What if this is all a ruse? She questioned herself as she watched all of the vehicles begin to park, Following suite Kelly swung the old blue pickup into one of the free slots before killing the engine.
Getting out she saw that one of the soldiers had motioned them towards the building and once they grew closer he called out to them. "New comers gotta go through medical. It's the building right there." he said as he pointed towards the medical building, "Checkup?" Katey asked her sister as she followed close behind. "I'm sure it's just standard procedure Kat, Remember how we did things at the last place, they had to do it to." Kelly responded lowly as they made their way past the soldier. "Just right in there?" she asked him as they passed. "You got it." he said as he saw Katey's eyes cut like a knife in his direction. "Don't worry Kat, I'll be right there." Kelly said as she glanced down to regain her attention as they began to make their way towards medical and wondered where Ms. Anna was, she was leading the pack and Kelly hadn't seen where she turned off but as she approached the building she saw a kid sitting with another soldier on the step. "Look Kat, another kid." She said in the hopes of calming the young girls suspicions about the place as they began to make their way into the building.
