The Russian Spetsnaz GRU unit dropped down as low as they could, not needing to be told twice as they did so. The unit got down, and it was Lyokha who saw Reed's Vampire coming in first. The Spetsnaz Senior Lieutenant was very much surprised that he'd managed to keep the old thing in the air this long. It couldn't have been an easy task. Nonetheless, he and the others were quite glad for the support. Dealing with two hundred undead was going to be no easy task, "Opa, vot on (Opa, here he comes)."
There was a broad smile on Kseniya's face as she watched the pilot execute his strafing run. Though like most fighter jocks, there was a certain grounded arrogance to it, " Tipichnyy pilot-istrebitel', dumayet, chto on kakoy-to khot-shot (Typical fighter pilot, thinks he's some kind of hotshot)." Though she had to admit, he certainly was a good pilot. He quite clearly knew his aircraft very well, having seen many a strafing run in her day.
"Vozvrashchayet vospominaniya o Chechne, ne zabyvayte prizyvat' k etomu obstrelu? Vse yeshche chuvstvuyu sebya v kostyakh (Brings back memories of Chechnya, remember calling in that strafing run? Can still feel in my bones)," said Lyokha. The strafing run wasn't close enough to their positions to feel it, but certainly the skill of the Vampire pilot very much reminded her of the skill with which the Su-25 pilots executed their strafing run.
Once the pilot was done with his strafing run, Kseniya motioned for her unit to move forward. With the majority of undead dealt with, the two marksmen and their support gunner followed as they made their way over toward the terminal.

After almost an hour of monitoring radio reports coming in from Lanai, everyone aboard HMS Liverpool's bridge heard the words they'd been waiting for: "Airfield secured; awaiting further orders."
Standing at the Captain's Mast, Commander Wagner continued studying the maps of Lanai island, her focus beginning to move from the airfield to nearby Lanai City and the possibility of urban warfare ahead of them, a note of concern beginning to form on her face. While her American counterparts were more accustomed to urban warfare - just a cursory look at all the locations American troops had fought in since 2000 was enough to put the fear of God in you - the British could count on one hand the number of urban engagements they'd been involved in (Basra in Iraq - Musa Qala, Sangin, Gereshk and Marjah in Afghanistan)...and none of them involved the risk of walkers roaming around, Wagner mused.
Glancing over at Communications, Wagner asked, "Call Lynx 01 and have them return to the ship momentarily." As the call went out, she looked over at Corporal Blackthorn and said, "Airfield's secured; as soon as Lt. Curtis flies back in and gets' refueled, we're going to fly out to the airfield and see what's going on out there.."

"Helicopter's arrived; should be on the flight deck momentarily," one of the officers' aboard Liverpool's bridge called out; looking over at the officer, Commander Wagner said to him, "Very well. Have them go ahead and refuel; we'll be back there in short order." Glancing over at Lindsay, she asked, "Well, Corporal Blackthorn, I guess its' time for us to head out and decide the next course of action, shall we?"(Maj Gerrard, 8 Rifles) As Major Gerrard and his thirty or so Riflemen stood along the runway, he took stock of the mission thus far; with the exception of one injury - a sprained knee suffered when one of his soldiers stepped awkwardly on the way towards the runway and fell - the mission had gone pretty much according to plan. Looking over, he saw Captain Chernova standing with her Spetznaz GRU unit and gave up a thumbs-up, smiling as he did.
As his team leaders gathered around, one asked, "So, what's next, sir?" Looking over at them, Gerrard said, "For now, we hold steady where we're at and wait for Commander Wagner to arrive so we can plan out the next phase of the operation. Once we have a general plan, I'll get together with the other ground commanders and plan the assault into Lanai City." Looking at the others once more, he asked, "Any questions?"
