"Fair enough," Henry said, adding, "center housing it is," while thinking to himself with a bit of deadpan, hope you enjoy the seventy or so women living there at the moment, remembering the large group they'd rescued from the county prison at Paso Robles earlier that day. Looking around, he saw one of the medics and whistled over to him. "Hey," Henry called out, "can you get these people cleared through Medical?" signaling to the medic the group he was with; looking over at Vincent, he said, "Just head over to where the medic is and he'll get you guys checked out," adding, "and you can keep your weapons with you; just make sure the safeties are on and you don't have a round chambered in them," pausing as he saw someone over towards where Tamara and Company where at, carrying what looked like a mighty big weapon with him....hmmmm, he thought, must be compensating for something....

Jin'ichi Nodding his head, he looked at the young man before him that looked like his mother. To him, it seemed like he didn't know what Jin was talking about. Maybe it was some kind Amnesia or repressed memories from a tragic event. He thought to himself as he looked Ashley in the eye's. Nodding his head again, he would say to him. "Well then, if you want to talk...I'll be around the area. I'll most likely be practicing out back." Bowing to Ashley, Jin stood up fully. Turning around, he looked at the Cowboy who was now staring at him and his Machine gun that was over his shoulder. Jin'ichi nearly stood the same height as Henry as Jin just stared at him back with his blank expression. Walking past the cowboy, he walked out of Medical and was going to head for the back door of the Castle so he could train in the rain.
Mercy Slowly stirring from her sleep, she could feel Tamara's hand on the side of her face as she was moving stray hairs away from the Native American's face. Smiling, she turned her head a bit and looked up at Tamara. Her eyes drifted towards the group that came into the Medical area and just raised her one eyebrow. "Well now...it would seem to me that our numbers are continuing to grow babe. I wouldn't be surprised if an army squad decides to join up or the Navy just shows up out of the blue horizon." Pushing herself up with a grunt with a jolt of pain coursing through her mid section, she sat up and placed her back against the wall as she looked around and saw Lawrence was standing there like a watchful Pitbull. The feeling that the room was getting stuffy and congested with more and more people coming into the room, she moved herself over towards the edge of the bed and put her feet off of the side of the bed and slowly stood up. "Need to get some fresh air...it's getting stuffy inside of here." Mercy walked back around and kissed Tamara on the lips, not caring who all saw her do such a thing as she gently rested her one hand on the side of Tamara's face. Breaking the kiss, she opened her eyes half way and looked deep into Tamara's eyes.
"You behave and meet our newest guests...I'll be fine hun. I'll catch you on the flip side my love." Kissing her one more time, Mercy made her way out of the Medical area. Taking her time down the hallway, since she was still recovering she had placed a hand on the wall as she walked down. After a while of walking, she came up to the front doors and opened them so that she could step outside. Doing so, she was under the small roof like structure as it was now a heavy down pour of rain. Lightening flashed through the sky as she stepped down from it and walked down onto the asphalt. The rain was cold, but it felt good on her skin as her hair began to cling to her flesh. Closing her eyes, she tilted her head upwards and was facing the sky.

"Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me any, Mercy," Tamara whispered as she watched Mercy getting up, a slight grimace crossing her as she stood against the wall, looking around at everything going on around them; Tamara took the moment to look around as well, marveling at how well everything seemed to be going....even with everything that'd happened that day, Tamara thought to herself... I'll catch you on the flip side my love."
"I'm always behaved, sweetheart," Tamara replied as they kissed, adding, "even when it is stuffy, Mercy," putting her own hand on top of Mercy's and not really giving a damn who saw their affection together. "I'll be fine," she said, "I'll be fine," and watched as Mercy headed towards the exit, stepping outside and out of sight. After a few moments more sitting on the cot, Tamara got up herself and began walking around Medical, talking to everyone and seeing how everyone was doing....a sometimes tedious effort, but a necessary one for any leader and it was time for her to re-assert her position as Scout Leader.
Was she still wounded from her ordeal of earlier? Yes, she was. Did she still feel some apprehension about what lay ahead of them? Yes, she did.
But, she thought, as she walked around, as her old helicopter instructor back at Fort Rucker used to tell her on occasion, You work around the problem....you work around the problem, she thought, feeling better and better as she continued on.

"Nice to meet you, Ashley," Sarah replied, welcoming Ashley to San Simeon and trying not to get in-between whatever conversation Ashley was having with Jin'ichi. "If there's any questions you have," pausing as a momentarily wave of morning sickness washed over her, "don't hesitate to ask, okay?" Without waiting, Sarah walked back over to where Masumi and the others were at; sitting down next to her, Sarah said, "I'm going to have to get something to eat or it'll be the death of me, I just know it..." pausing as she watched her sister making the rounds throughout Medical and adding, "I see Sis is up, alert and walking around; where's Mercy?" she asked, looking around and not seeing Tamara's better half around anywhere...
Smaller mansions. That's what he called them. To her, that was luxury and prime real estate. The man made it seem like they were just little cottages they could make a little nest in, when in fact, they were quite the spread. She didn't want her surprise to show, even though it probably did. His only stipulation is that they become medically cleared before they could stay and she could understand that.
"Have you seen an outbreak before? You know, like flu, illness, disease, things like that?" Her accent was thick considering she just crossed the border less than a month ago and she worried that would put her in a bad spot. American's first thoughts with Mexican and Mexican water was Montezuma's revenge, which was true, although her and her people were used to the water. American's seemed to have such delicate systems.
She took note of Talia closeby and when they got to the medical center she went in, submissively, to get herself checked out. Vincent said he wouldn't stay on the outskirts and that he would stay right in the middle of all of that.
"Is it safe in those houses out there? If I were to stay alone, how can I trust I would not be hurt?" She took a few steps forward looking at Vincent as if he were going to cave and come keep her safe. That was likely not the case though. She had been on her own for too long and hated being alone like that. She did much better in groups, contributing and sometimes leading like she did at her family's hotel until they were run off by the Cartel.
"What about Cartel? Do they come here to raid and steal?"
Vincent mentioned turning in weapons and Tali looked at him. There was no way she was giving up her gun. People would die before it left her. It would stay in her backpack, but she wouldn't take it out. As long as these people didn't take it away. Maybe if they didn't know she had it she could get away with keeping it. She felt safer with it,mthst was for sure. She wanted to stay safe and stay ready.
Talia pushed the hat on her head up and looked at the people around her. Some scary looking guy moved out past Henry, eyeing him up. She wondered if they were fighting, or trying to get dominance. She had seen raiders do it before, go head to head to each other. Trying to be the alpha. The top dog. Even though you were on the same side.
They had decided they were going to stay in the centre house. Were they staying as group? Or alone? She didn't want to leave Vincent or Josefina. She didn't want to be without them. Seemed Josefina was thinking the same thing, she asked if it was safe, if she was to stay alone. Talia just loooed up at her and took her hand in hers. She gave it a squeeze to let the woman know she wouldn't be alone, that Talia was there with her. She would keep Josefina safe from the bad men.
She quickly let go and listened to the next question. Cartel was a word she didn't know, they sounded like raiders though, bandits. Raid and steal. Was Cartel another group? A name for them? She didn't know, she just knew that anyone who raided and stole were bad, like her.
As the entered medical Talia kept her arms crossed. She pulled them close to her as she looked around there were lots of people. She hated people. They were always so loud. So annoying. Why couldn't they be quiet. Why did they feel the need to talk and make noiseless? That's how the monsters fond you. You make noise, shoot guns, you die.

As Vincent was being processed through medical he looked around as Josefina was talking. They seemed to be well stocked up. He had a slight smirk on his face as he was impressed. When he heard Josefina asked if she was to be alone in the house he turned to the beautiful Mexican woman looking in her eyes. "You'll be fine...Both of you." said Vincent to Josefina and the little girl as he looked to her as well. He turned back and as he was being processed by one of the doctors he saw a woman walking around looking like she was in pain but she wasn't showing it. "She's a tough one I'll give her that." thought Vincent to himself.
"Hey miss." said Vincent as he tried to catch her attention. He wasn't sure if he caught her attention or not but he scanned the room he caught a man holding a M60 surrounded by a bunch of people. "They might be who the leader of this joint." thought Vincent to himself as he took note of the woman. He let out a sigh as he took out his wallet from his left pocket with his free hand while his right hand was holding his Heckler & Koch MP5K-PDW with the safety on now. He dropped his wallet and as he did the three pictures that he had in there scattered on the floor. The photos were of Mai and his daughter, and the other two were of his nephew and his sister down in Florida with the Renegades group and the military survival group Whiskey Cobra and it's founding members.
Listening to Josefina's concerns and everything, Henry tried to assuage any and all fears that she had by being as open and honest as he could; this wasn't a time to sugarcoat anything, to his way of thinking. "Ma'am, I've seen a lot of things in my life, but the past four-plus years....," pausing to shake his head a moment, ".....are definitely the worst and that's saying something if you've lived as a rancher." It wasn't idle braggadocio either; if over two decades of cattle ranching had taught Henry McKenna anything, it was to always expect the unexpected. From agricultural disease outbreaks to low cattle auction prices to occasional post-apocalyptic raids back in Wyoming, life had taught a lot of lessons to him....it'd also taught him that there was still plenty to learn.
Hearing the questions about housing and about any possible threats, Henry said, "This is probably about the safest location on the West Coast, ma'am...and no, that's not bragging either; as you probably saw on the way in, there's only one access road in from the coast and the road's somewhat steep; its' also patrolled every day...at least one group of us head out each day to walk the access road, from the Front Gate down to where it hits the Pacific Coast Highway there."
Turning for a moment, he pointed in the general direction of the Main Castle's bell tower, the highest point at San Simeon. "Up there, in the cupola, at the very top of the bell tower on the top floor, are a pair of guards, armed with long rifles and carrying long-range binoculars; their only job is to do a 360-degree watch of the area. If they see anything, they'll let us know and someone'll go out and check out whatever it was they saw; sometimes you'll see people rushing around....odds are, someone's spotted something outside." Pausing to turn a little further around, he pointed in the general direction of San Simeon's grass airfield. "Off in that direction is a grass airfield capable of allowing light aircraft to take off and land without having to use Hearst Airfield, which is all the way down on the PCH in the other direction. Even though the airfield is on flat ground, there's about a fifty-to-sixty foot elevation difference from there to here; you don't notice it because of the distance and the gradual slope in-between here and there.
"As for the Cartels, ma'am?" Henry added, pausing for a few thoughts. "We've fought worse," adding, "I don't mean that as a brag or anything, but we've had a couple of sharp fights the past few days and everyone's still sort of on pins-and-needles around here; that's why I gave my Stetson to her," pointing towards the little girl that'd accompanied Vincent and the others to San Simeon, "earlier on, to try and diffuse things back outside on the highway.
"What I'm trying to say, ma'am, is that we've made San Simeon about as safe as one could make anyplace these days....against a determined enemy, I don't know....but we'll do everything we can to make things as safe as possible." It was as honest and forthright a statement as Henry could make; while no place these days could be 100% safe, San Simeon - even with the events of the past few days - was as safe as any place could hope to be.
Josefina shot a look to Vincent as he was getting checked out. "How do you know that? You don't know these people..." She was about to go on when she suddenly realized something. What if Vincent did know these people? What if it was all a ruse and he was out fishing for people like her to come with him back to this place. She felt her blood run cold and a shiver went down her spine as Talia came up and slipped her fingers between hers, holding her hand.
What to do now? Turn and run? She doubted her and Talia could get out of here with any amount of ease. Maybe she would just play their game. Listening to Henry speak about the only road in only made her distrust Vincent even more. She couldn't help but say something now.
"Makes me wonder who Vincent even knew to come here." She turned away from him, allowing him to get his examination as she tugged Talia along with her, agreeing to go through these motions of getting an exam before turning in for the night.
Instead of arguing about the irony of being brought here, she listened and tried to decipher his words, considering English was her second language. The slang and shortening of proper words to letters forced her to think a little longer as he spoke about the place being safe. She smiled a bit too much as she looked at him, nodding her head and looking back at Talia who had broken away and was looking around.
"Of course. Do we just wait here then and someone will take us to where we are supposed to sleep for the night?"
Talia followed Josefina into medical, getting tugged along as she went. As she walked she pondered the idea too. How did Vincent know about this place. He drove here, didn't come across it by chance. He was friendly with them. Almost to friendly. Like he knew them for a long time, or had been here before. She had heard of slavers in the world now. People who act nice then take you away. Al had warned her of them. What if these people were slavers? What would she do then.
She saw the look of wanting to leave on Josefina's face. She wanted to flee, she trully dead. Tali was confident the could get out, that they could make it to the trees and keep going before anyone caught up to them. She was confident they could get away freely, that they could live out there. She saw the entrance, how to open it. They didn't need a car and if they ran now no one would stop them. But they didn't, instead they were hauled through medical. She just followed, moving closer to Josefina.
When the cowboy said he fought worse than raiders, and had fought the last couple of days Talia just rolled her eyes. They didn't need to fight, there was no need for it. The only reason to fight was if you wanted something or you were defending. If this was being attacked so regularly was it that safe to stay at? Either that it these people went looking for a fight, and that scared her more. She never wanted out more than now. Talia looked to Josefina questionably, a look of wanting to leave.
While Vincent went to talk to another laddie and Josefina spoke with the Cowboy man Talia went to look around. She took the hat off her head and sat it down on a table. Then she moved around the room, pocketing a few items when she thought no one was looking. She made sure to grab a bottle of what's looked like medicine, as well as a syringe. She grabbed a spool of thread and needle and some rubber gloves. As she moved around she tried to fit as much as she could in her pockets before she caught.
Being satisfied with her haul she tucked up beside Josefina again, wondering what they had to do to clear medical? Or if this was it.
"So you were the one that I heard earlier?" Tamara asked, arms crossed over her chest, a bemused look on her face. "My apologies; with all the people inside here, it is sometimes hard to hear....." It was then that she noticed, out of the corner of her eyes, what looked like a bunch of pictures that had fallen to the floor; kneeling down a bit, Tamara scooped them up and handed them back to the man, figuring they were his. "Saw these on the floor, figured they were yours," adding, "so, what's your name and where you from?"

He was about to pick up his photos when he quickly stood up as the woman he had attempted to call over was in front of him now. "It's okay no need to apologize I've seen a few places like this so it's understandable." said Vincent to the woman. When she picked up and handed him back his photos a smile a slowly formed on his lips and he nodded. When asked who he was and where he was from he cleared his throat for a moment before answering her.
"I'm Vincent Morrison although most people just call me Doc. I was a medic in the Army for many years and I'm from Florida. I just need to know if maybe you had seen this woman or child?" asked Vincent as he handed the woman the photo of Mai and his little girl. Mai was wearing a white tank top and grey sweatpants while his little girl was wrapped up in a blanket.
"That's my girlfriend and my kid. I've been trying to find them since the start of this chaos. I was in Texas when shit hit the fan, made it to Florida and stayed their for a few years with a rag tag military group and some family that were nearby. I finally made it here and have been searching for them for about a year now." said Vincent to the woman as he told her his story. He figured the best shot he had with these people is to be honest with them that's all people really had now a days but even then that can only get you so far in this world.

"Welcome to San Simeon, Doc," Tamara said, taking hold of the photos and looking at them intensely for several moments, trying to remember if she'd seen any of them. I'll ask Sarah here in a moment if she's seen them, Tamara mused as she handed the photos back to Vincent. "i've not seen either of them but if they're here, we'll find them," she said. "Anyway, my name's Tamara Lyell...like you, I'm an Army vet, though I flew helicopters for a few years, then moved over to the private side of the business for about a decade flying for Blackwater. Originally from Astoria Queens, the Big Apple. Hearing Vincent's anguished words, Tamara took hold of his shoulder as if comforting them and said to him, "If they're here, Vincent, we'll find them, you have my word on that, okay?"
After a few seconds, she held up a finger as if to say, "Wait," and got out her radio. "Sarah," Tamara said, "can you come over here, please? I need to ask you something, alright, Sis?" Putting the radio back, she looked over at Vincent and continued. "My twin sister Sarah Lyell runs San Simeon; she may know more about if your friends are here or not," she said as they stood there, waiting for Sarah to join them...

Sarah had just started walking through Medical and on her way to San Simeon's enormous kitchen when she heard her radio go off; listening to it, she quietly growled as she heard her sister Tamara requesting her presence. I'm right over here, Sis, she humorously thought, as she turned and walked over to where Tamara and another individual was standing at. "What's the problem, Sis?" Sarah asked.
"Have you seen any of these people, Sis?" Tamara said, taking a moment to introduce them both to the other person. "Before you look, this is Vincent Morrison; he's new here...Vincent, this is my twin sister Sarah Lyell; she runs San Simeon, I keep it safe," lightly punching her sister in the shoulder as Sarah took a look at the photos Vincent had handed her. Taking a long, sober look at the two photos, Sarah didn't recognize the young girl but she did the older woman. "I haven't seen the young girl, Vincent, I'm sorry...but I have seen her," pointing to the photo of Mai and adding, "and I know where she's at; if you'll come with me, we'll get you two reunited here momentarily..."
Walking over to where Mercy was standing, he coughed quietly and said, "Not disturbing you here, am I?" nodding at her and waiting for her to reply as the storm continued to lash at both of them from above....

Vincent listened as Tamara said she hadn't seen them he let out a soft sigh shaking his head lightly but hearing her words saying that they would find them if they were here gave him a bit of hope. Listening to Tamara's story he nodded as he followed along. She was like him in the Army, he look around at the other people for a moment and wondered if they were also military. It could be possible but they could also be harden survivors. Vincent had seen his fair share of survivors either way but he turned his eyes back to Tamara as she radioed her sister.
Within a few minutes Vincent got to meet the leader of San Simeon Sarah Lyell. The ways she carried herself and her tone she might have been military or she was just a badass either way Vincent could see that this woman was top dog for a reason. He gave Sarah a nod followed by a smile. "Nice to meet ya. Tamara told me she was in the Army, I was as well. But I gotta ask are you military as well? I mean the way you carry yourself I wouldn't be surprised. You guys could give Whiskey Cobra a run for their money for sure." asked Vincent as he ended it with a joke trying to lighten the mood as he was some what nervous.
But as Sarah looked at the photos and said she saw Mai it was as almost if his heart had stop. "Wait...You've seen her?" said Vincent in disbelief. Without a second thought he looked at Tamara then at Sarah. "Just one minute." said Vincent as he turned around and walked over to Josefina and Talia. "They said they know where Mai is...I almost can't believe it after four years...I..." said Vincent nearly choking up. He shook his head and cleared his throat. "I'll be back. I just wanted to say...Thanks for everything Josefina." said Vine to Josefina. He began to walk away and as he did he turned to Talia. "I'll need one of my candy bars back." said Vincent to Talia with a smirk. He had a feeling he was missing something he bag felt somewhat empty. Still he had to give credit where credit was due the kid was tough he could see that.
He walked back over to Tamara and Sarah giving the leader a nod. "Lead the way boss." said Vincent in a calm tone.

"Alright, let's go," Sarah said as her and Vincent began walking towards the door leading out of Medical and outside the Main Castle; pointing towards the center mansion of the three smaller mansions at San Simeon, Sarah said, "What did you say her name was..Mai? Well, if its' who I think it is, she was rescued earlier today along with about seventy other woman," pausing to silently add, along with Tamara and Mercy, "from a nearby county prison in Paso Robles. All the women were checked out through Medical; other than various mental concerns, they were physically alright," her voice trailing off as they walked the short distance to the center mansion.
Nodding to one of Tamara's Scouts who was keeping watch on the door so that the rescued could rest comfortably, Sarah opened the main entrance to the mansion and called out, "Mai? Mai?" waiting a few seconds before calling out to her again; when she heard someone coming, Sarah said, "Hopefully she's--ah! There she is," pointing over to a woman running towards the two of them Stepping back a step or two, Sarah hoped this was the same Mai as in the picture and wondered what Vincent's reaction would be...

As Vincent walked by Sarah's side he listen to her as she told him how they had rescue seventy women along with Tamara and a girl named Mercy. "Wow...I gotta say you people impress me. Not to many folks would be willing to take that risk now a days. I respect that." said Vincent in a calm tone to Sarah. As they walked the short distance Vincent looked around taking note of the mansions. As they arrived at the center mansion the person who was guarding the door moved and Sarah opened it up.
As they walked in Vincent looked around at the woman all he could feel was sadness for these woman. It almost made him think back to the first year with Lynch and the rest of the guys. How they would stop survivors on the road take their stuff and later tie them to a tree and use them as a punching bag. The sorrow he felt for the victims would always way heavy on him. He remembered one time they tied a girl up and beat her senseless she cried and begged for death for hours. When all the soldiers were asleep Vincent had quietly walked over to the girl "I can get you out of this alright? Listen to me-" said Vincent in a calm serious but serious whisper like tone.
The girl was beaten so bad she couldn't even open her eyes, Her voice cracked every time she tried to speak. "P-Please kill me...Please...I can't go on...Not like this...Just end it please." said the girl in a raspy tone to Vincent. He was shaking and let out a quivering sigh as he looked to the girl. "I...Are you sure?" asked Vincent to the girl who struggled to take a deep breath. "Please...End my suffering.." said the girl to Vincent. He shook his head and was struggling with the idea of killing this girl. This girl looked to be about in her early twenties and she was ready to give up. Vincent was shaking and he nodded. "Alright I'll do it...Just give me a minute." whispered Vincent to the girl as he quietly walked back into the truck where he was at and grabbed a syringe filling it with morphine. He quietly closed the door and walked back over to the girl.
He took off his belt using it as a tourniquet, he stuck the needle in the girl's arm and as he did his eyes watered up. "What's your name?" asked Vincent to the girl. "Stacy...Stacy Melburn." said Stacy to Vincent. "Alright well Stacy just take a few deep breaths and you will be asleep in no time." whispered Vincent to Stacy in a whisper as he was choking up. She started to take a few deep breaths and as she did a smile appeared on her beaten face. "Thank you..." said Stacy to Vincent before drawing her last breath.
Vincent snapped out of his thoughts and as he did his hands were slightly shaking. He looked at the woman named Mai as he looked at her up and down. She did look similar but Vincent cleared his throat before speaking to her. "Could you please roll up your sleeves?" said Vincent in a calm tone. As she did Vincent let out a heavy sigh and shook his head as he looked at Sarah. "That's not Mai...Well not my Mai at least." said Vincent to Sarah in a calm but frustrated tone. Right now Vincent wanted to break stuff. He tightened his fist out of anger as he looked to the ground shaking his head for a few moments. "Are there any other groups nearby? Maybe they might have seen her?" asked Vincent in a calm tone still somewhat frustrated to Sarah.
