Clarissa smiled and reached forward with her free hand to lift up the platter lid to reveal a 24 oz. porterhouse steak freshly cooked to well-done, veggies with some bagels and cups of butter, two pitchers of water and tea, and some steamed asparagus and green beans, her other hand caressing Kate's shoulder and head softly...if it meant keeping stress at bay and to entertain Kate's positive thinking and happiness until Chris was well and good, so be it, as she went on to list what it was she brought up and finishing with a playful flex of her free arm, "All those years of serving and doing the jobs of other servers really paid off, huh? I hope this is to your liking...I made it for the both of us, hence the size."
"Wow," Kate said, sighing as she felt Clarissa's touch on her shoulders and neck, marveling more than anything else at the size of the porterhouse - some head of cattle gave its' life in our honor, she humorously thought - "and yes, you look as though you've worked a long, long time, Clarissa," carefully pulling Clarissa down on top of her 'lest she spill the large plate with everything on it all over them....not that I wouldn't mind, Kate thought - "and now you need to relax a little bit, babe," Kate added, staring down at Clarissa and wondering what their head chef would do next...

Clarissa listened to Kate and was just about to reply to the redhead's observation about her long line of working and responsibility, before she felt her breath hitch pleasantly as she was actually tugged down on top of Kate, letting her lips part lightly with her eyes upon Kate's own, the wisps of her warm breath kissing the other woman's skin from proximity. It took her a couple seconds to let down a bit of a gulp to clear her throat before she spoke after finding her words, "'Relax', you say? And why is that, dear Kate? You have your own 'exam' you'd like to give me...?"

"It was," Elise said after hearing Sarah ask whether Windsor, Ontario was a pretty place. Of course, being right next door to Detroit didn't hurt it either," smiling at all the memories of Windsor from her youth....then she noticed Sarah looking as though she were crawling back into a shell of sorts and asked, "Is everything okay, Sarah?" An honest, heartfelt question, Elise kept one eye towards Sarah, the other out towards Detroit and the area beyond.

After getting his thoughts and mind - and other parts of him, come to think of it - Joseph got up and began walking over to the dining hall, figuring a nice cup of coffee and something to eat might take his mind off of Claira - good luck with that! he mused - and help him relax a bit. Stepping inside, he grabbed a cup of coffee and was getting ready to grab something to eat when he caught sight of one of the newcomers that'd come in earlier - Danna, her name was, he remembered - and walked over to where she was sitting. "This seat taken, Danna?" Joseph asked.
Post by Danna Whitehawk on Jun 12, 2017 10:54:59 GMT -5
Her thought's were broken when someone called out to her. Shaking her head a bit, she looked up and saw Joseph standing there looking down at her as he pointed towards a chair. Looking around, she wondered how long she had been sitting there. Sighing slightly, she shook her head. "No Doctor MacMillan, it's not. Seems like with everyone being busy, most of the seats in here are empty." Putting her bag onto the table, she opened it and took out a bag of her deer jerky. Taking a piece out, she placed it into her mouth and slowly chewed. Her eyes went down and looked at the table top. Her mind was still thinking of her family and the last moments they all spent together. It was morning before she went to school. They all sat at the kitchen table eating breakfast of Eggs and bacon. Frowning a bit, she would ask then to Doctor Joseph.
"Doctor...have ever you thought about the happiest moment of your life and didn't want to think about it for it brings back a lot of pain and heart ache?"

Looking at Hannah, Sarah held her close. "That we do," she whispered, leaning down and kissing Hannah lightly on the forehead, "but we can always replace the Harley, your trench coat, helmet, .45, all that......but I can't replace you, Hannah," she added, wiping a tear away from her eye and continuing to comfort Hannah as they sat there, their backs now up against the Humvee. "We'll rest here for a bit, okay?" Sarah said quietly, not caring who saw them affectionately holding each other there.
Smiling a bit, she moved in closer to Sarah and rested her head up underneath Sarah's jaw. Holding Sarah's arms close to her as she sat there looking at the rig. "I know they all can be replaced. Why I am back here without them...if I was in my right mind, I would have tried to get at least the handgun back since that was a gift from...someone in my past who had it specially engraved to have my nickname on it, you know...the massive tattoo that is on my back you so much like to touch when we are in bed." Kasie, who was a medic whispered to them both. "Why dont you two go get a room already? None of that mushy mushy stuff out here is needed." she said with a slight chuckle. Hannah looked at her and nodded her head slowly and said. "You know what...why not?" She said as she patted Sarah's thighs and gently squeezed the insides as she pushed herself up. "If you hear moaning and a screaming coming from the Purple monster over there...don't bother come a knockin, for this house will be a rockin."
As she stepped forward, she swayed a bit but caught her balance and nodded her head in Victory, leaving the medic standing there a bit slack jawed. The one eyed Hannah looked at Sarah and asked her. "You care to join me babe? Would hate to lay on that bed in there all by my lonesome." A wicked Chesser cat grin came across her face as she kept walking, swaying her hips from one side to the other. Reaching up to the handle bar on the Exhaust stack, she pulled herself up and opened the driver side door. Climbing in, she moved into the back and sat on the bed. Her shoulders resting against the wall beside the bed as she took her weapons off of herself and laid them to the floor.

"Now," Sarah whispered, leaning down to lightly kiss Hannah as they sat there, "that's not the only I like to touch while we're in bed, Hannah darling," prompting one of the medics nearby to remark that they needed to go get a room. Lightly chuckling at the thought, Sarah sighed softly at the touch of Hannah's hands on her thighs, surreptitiously biting her lip at the sensation as Hannah told the medic where they'd be at for the next little while, pushing herself up back up onto her feet.
Without waiting, Sarah - taking hold of Hannah's hand - got up on her feet as well and smiled. "Don't be alarmed if you hear anything good happening," Sarah said boastfully, following Hannah like a love-starved survivor over to Hannah's new bigrig, not even bothering to answer Hannah's question as they climbed onboard and headed to the back. As Hannah rested against one side, Sarah sat down on the bed and began taking off her clothes, glancing back at Hannah with a look of unadulterated lust in her eye. "Hope you enjoyed that little rest outside, love," Sarah said lustily, "'cause I'm going to drain every bit of love out of you, Hannah," pausing to remove the rest of her clothes before sitting down next to Hannah. "Now....," Sarah said, looking right at Hannah, "where should I start?"

Leaning down, Kate lightly kissed Clarissa, letting her lips linger for several moments as they sat on the bed in Clarissa's quarters, her eyes focusing on Clarissa's and her breath hitching a moment in her throat, very much aware of what she was doing. "Well, that depends on your definition of exam, doesn't it?" adding, "All I know right now, Clarissa, is I don't want to be alone...please stay me with me tonight," pausing to kiss Clarissa once more and add, "please?"

Sarah leaned her back against the wall of the perch, Hands tightly gripping her knees as she glanced passed Elise at the sky above her. Am I alright? I Don't know. I hope. She thought as she refocused on Elise standing above her. "This.. This just doesn't feel real... Why? Why are you not trying to lock me in a room or kick me or..." She broke off as she shoved her head into her knees for a moment as she felt tears begin to well up again.
Wiping them away swiftly Sarah returned her gaze to Elise as she spoke again, Fear filling her body from what she was about to say but she had been bottling it up for so long and It was high time to open that bottle. "L..Look." She said as she slid the sleeves of her shirt up to reveal her scar covered arms. "This.. This is what people do now.. They cut you, and beat you, and lock you in rooms, and kill your best friend in front of you. And blind you... That's where I came from, Up north I was captured.. My friend and I. They did this. So tell me. Why? Why are you so nice? How do I know that this place is... Is truly..." She stopped as she buried her head in her knee's again. "Everyone just wants to hurt you.. Why haven't you?" She asked, Her good eye looking up at the woman. "Everything this place is.. It's so... It feels too good to be true..."
Sarah moved her head to face the door as she could have sworn she heard someone open one of the doors below and watched, For whoever or whatever it was as much as to not face the woman in front of her. Great.. You told her and now her men are coming to grab you.. This is great....

"No Doctor MacMillan, it's not. Seems like with everyone being busy, most of the seats in here are empty."
Sitting down, Joseph took a sip of coffee and smiled; although psychology and mental health weren't specialties of his, as Belle Isle's resident Doctor, he liked to keep an eye on everyone, make sure there weren't any loose fuses and brooding personalities that could turn in an instant.....it also helped take the load of Kasie, one of Belle Isle's medics who was far more versed in mental health issues than he was - and that's with the M.D. appended to my name--
"Doctor...have ever you thought about the happiest moment of your life and didn't want to think about it for it brings back a lot of pain and heart ache?" Danna asked. For several long moments Joseph thought about the question, pausing only to take small sips of coffee, setting his cup back down each time with almost anatomical perfection. "Yeah, I know what you're talking about there," he said, taking another sip of coffee as memories of him and Kara rushed through his mind. "I've had those moments; I don't think about them, though...no, I take that back: I give them a few moments then I go back to whatever I was doing beforehand.
"That's not to say I dwell on them; I don't.....its' a balancing act, Danna. You have to balance the grief, the heartache and the pain of losing those moments in your life with those happiest moments of your life," Joseph continued. "We all go through; its' perfectly alright...the trick is not falling on either side of the ledge they're on."

For a long time Elise didn't know what to say; in a sense, she understood where Sarah was coming from for when she'd been in charge of the Windsor stronghold, she'd had those questions asked as well...and when she'd come to Belle Isle two-plus years she'd had many of the same questions, thoughts and concerns. Sadness and horror filled her when Sarah all of a sudden pulled up her sleeves to reveal all the scars on them and spoke of what'd happened to her and her fears that Belle Isle was nothing more than a trap.
Without waiting, Elise reached over and gave Sarah a long, comforting hug, trying her best not to cry in sadness at the sight of those scars on Sarah's arms. "Sarah, I had some of the same thoughts you just spoke of when I came here but I want you to know this: these people, this place....this is real. Its' not too good to be true, its' not a trap...these people are good, decent people.
"Do we face struggle and strife here at times? Yes we do. "Do we have our own problems at times? Yes we do.
"But Sarah, we work together here and we stick up for one another here...and we always look out for each other," Elise added, not really knowing what else to say, but knowing she had to say something...anything, to Sarah.

Clarissa felt the soft influx of kisses from Kate, something she wasn't honestly expecting...she may have been wanting to put the moves on Kate, and yet here she was feeling the moves being put on her--and she loved it! She smiled softly with her eyes staring into that of Kate's, and slid a hand upwards to caress the medic's cheek softly with her lips parted a bit, before nodding lightly to Kate's request...honestly, she was going to ask to do just that, to stay with her.
"Of course I'll stay with you, Kate. I don't want to leave you alone," she answered softly with her hands caressing her form in various places, before leaning down to press her lips back to Kate's fully to kiss her, taking advantage of the fact she was wearing a button-down short-sleeve shirt and a pair of jeans to start undoing her shirt, leaving her form to explore what it was Kate was wearing as well.

Sarah's arms began to tremble as she felt the warm embrace of Elise around her once again, a knot forming in her throat as she began to speak again. I Want to believe you, I really, Truly do.. Sarah thought as she listened to Elise speak as her arms wrapped around her gingerly. Sarah didn't feel any tension like she was trying anything, her voice sounding like she was genuinely upset by the sight of the scars. "Why though... Everyone wants something.. Why do the people here take you in without wanting anything but help in return?" She asked as she attempted to stifle a sob and wiped the tears away once more.
"You stick up for each other? But... But why? Everyone... Everyone always wants something so why? This.. This comradeship that you guys seem to have, What keeps you.. So... So close? What keeps you so..." The noise of a door swinging open cut Sarah's speech as she quickly shot her sight to the figure now standing in the doorway. Another kid? Shit... My tears. She thought as she quickly wiped the tears from her eyes and shyed away as the girl began to speak.

Fearah had spent the morning going about her daily work as she wanted to get them done as soon as she could so she could go grab some food from the mess hall and hang out on the perch as she generally did for a while each day. Taking a few steps into the hall she glanced around at the food and didn't see much that took her fancy. "Guess and Apple it is." she said with a shrug as she snagged one from the table and headed out the door again.
Making her way to the stairwell of the perch Fearah could have sworn she heard talking coming from the top. "Oh? Someone looking for me?" She asked herself as she opened the door and began to walk up the steps a few at a time. Nearing the top the voices came into focus as she neared the door, One was clearly Elise which brought a smile to form on Fearah's face and caused her to pick up her pace to the door "Eli..." She started before hearing a second, Sadder, Younger sounding voice. "Who's that?" she whispered to herself as she moved to the wall near the door and peaked an eye through the crack of the door frame. "Shit, I can't see." she mumbled as she tried to shift her head ever so slightly to see through the crack, only catching glimpses of someone crouched on the floor.
Is truly..."
"Is truly what? Safe? Of course its safe." She mumbled to herself again as she listen to Elise begin to comfort the unknown girl as she held back the urge to open the door as the young girl began to ask why Elise was so nice and why the place sticks up for each other. Not being able to hold herself back anymore, From the curiousness and the slight annoyance from hearing her being so sad Fearah opened the door and spoke.
"Why are we so nice? Because. We're family, We may not be blood related or nothin but family isn't just blood relation these day. You know?" She said before taking a bite of the apple again and moving to her normal seat behind Elise slightly. "What Elise said was true you know. We have our problems but thats what this place is, A family. In my eyes at least." Fearah said again before taking another small bite of the apple and glancing out from the perch. "Now buck up Newbie, We aren't gonna hurt you or anything."

Before Elise could reply to Sarah, both of them heard someone entering the perch from below; it was Fearah, one of Belle isle's younger residents - and a fellow Canadian, Elise mused - who'd been on the Island about as long - maybe longer, Elise thought - as Elise had. Listening to Fearah, Elise added, "Fae's right, Sarah; this is a good place." After a few moments, Elise said, "Hey, you want to see where I normally work at here, Sarah, down in Logistics? We'll count it as part of the tour."

Sarah watched cautiously as the new face made her way to a chair near the wall of the perch behind Elise, The girls tone frightening her slightly from the apparent frustration in her voice as she spoke. "Family...?" She muttered to herself as the girl continued to give her speech, The words sticking like knives in Sarah as the words mingled in her mind, They made since, Family didn't have to be blood related at all. Family.. These people? That's why? Sarah thought as she glanced from the young girl to Elise and back again before hearing Elise speak up once more after the new girl finished her speech.
"Fae's right, Sarah; this is a good place." Fae? That's her name? She has no scars, No bruises. Does that mean.. No.. How could a place like this exist? Truly nice people? Family? Safety? She ran through her mind as she hid her face in the bend of her scar covered arm. "Family... Ho.. How is... Is this possible..?" She muttered as the realization that the place she was sitting, just might not be a trap. What bandit camp keeps kids, lets them roam free and carry food around? She questioned as she brought her gaze to the two others once more. "Kids, Doctors, food, no chains, No... Beating..? this... This is a joke ri..." Sarah began to mutter to herself as Elise spoke up again and She noticed that the younger girl had stopped mid chew to look in her direction as she caught the words coming from her mouth. "Um.. Yea, That be okay." she quickly stuttered before making her way to her feet, her legs shaking slightly from the memories that had begun to flood her mind again. Sarah wanted nothing but to believe them, She really and truly did but the thoughts and memories of the events over the years just kept forcing doubt into her mind.. Look, Sarah.. If they were going to do anything to you They would have done it already. For fucks sake they have a kid, Hell, Multiple kids. You are going to be fine. She attempted to reason to herself as she slowly made her way to the door before glancing over at Fearah again who hadn't stopped staring at her and had a very puzzled look on her face.
"Wh... What?" She asked shyly as she gripped her rifle strap tightly.

Fearah continued to munch on her apple as she listened to the other girl speak. How? Umm.. Simple, Not everyone is fucked up. She thought as she looked back at the girl. Slowly chewing her apple Fearah swallowed a mouth full before resting her head on the top of her hand. "How? It's pretty simple, good people got together and made it. Not everyone is fucked up." She said as she let her eyes follow the girls arms, The scars sending a shiver down Fearah's back There are people that can do that to a little girl? Fuck.. She thought as she took another small bite and began to chew slowly as Elise began to speak.
"Fae's right, Sarah; this is a good place." The young girls name struck Fearah's ears and instantly caused her face to distort in confusion as she began to stare intently at the other girl. Sarah? Where have I heard that name before? Sarah.. Why does that sound so familiar! She thought to herself as she watched the girl stand up gingerly and slide her sleeves back down, Glancing at her every few moments. "Gonna show her around some more then Elise?" She called before finding her eyes drawn back to Sarah, She couldn't put her finger on it but she couldn't shake the feeling that she had met her somewhere before, Heard that name before.
As Sarah neared the door Fearah's eyes followed , the apple gripped in her hand as she tried desperately to search her brain for any shred of why the name Sarah sounded so familiar. A few moments later the memory found her. That Night at her mothers grandparents house, The note. "Jamie, Take Sarah and head to Detroit. Find us there." She muttered to herself as the memory began to flood in. That's where I've heard that name from. Nanna's note.. Moms sister.. But.. That can't be her, No way is it her. Fearah thought as the young girl stopped by the door and asked what she wanted. "It.. It's nothing, Sorry. You.. You just reminded me of something from the past." It can't be, That was over two years ago. She thought as she shook her head and turned to face the city again. "My mom told me about a cousin I had that lived down here named Sarah, When we made it to my Nanna's house.. Err.. My grandmothers house we found a note. It was written to my moms sister and her daughter. Tellin em to go to Detroit, that they'd find em there. The daughters name was Sarah, I'm sure it's a coincidence though." She said, turning her head to face the girl in the door. "Come find me when you finish, I'll show you." She said before turning to face away from the two again. "I'll be here for a while. Elise knows where I live if I'm not here." Fearah chuckled before glancing back at the duo as they began to leave. "No way that's her, She lived way up north. No way she made it all the way down here." She muttered as she took the last few bites of her apple and set the core next to her before laying her head down on the side of the perch wall and looked out across the water. "Then again.. We did.. Sorta."

Just as Elise got to the stairwell leading down from the perch down to the third floor, she caught sight of the looks going back-and-forth between Sarah and Fearah and thought, Do they know each other? Looking over, she asked Fearah, "You two know each other?" wondering if there was a connection between them; even if it was a remote connection, there was still a connection there, she thought, as she waited for an answer....
