"Well, at least we know the planes can fly," Thomas said to his compatriots as they stood near the right-side engine of Thomas' OV-10 Bronco; parked at the northern end of San Simeon's grass airfield, they watched as the area began to stir with activity...but there was a muted sadness in the air from everything that'd happened the day before...but as they stood around the engine, the also knew that their plans for Hunter-Liggett would indeed work, that the idea of a Flying Service did indeed have legs to walk on and fly with.
"Oh, yeah," Kevin replied rather nonchalantly, "the Bronco worked like a charm," pausing to playfully tousle Danielle's hair, "and the Warhawk," pointing to his nearby P-40, "flew like a dream. But seriously, though, Thomas...you think we can actually work together with the people here?"
"I think we can," Thomas replied, nodding towards someone walking towards them carrying a thermos and several cups, "especially since one of their leaders appears set to join here on the runway....," waving at the person, he said, "Glad you could join us, Ms. Lyell-Haru.."

Wearing his marine corp Fatigues and his dog tags out in plain sight, Jon picked up his Drill instructor hat and slid it on top of his head. Swinging his PSG-1 Sniper rifle onto his back, and his sidearm and Ka-bar knife in his boot. The Preacher man was ready. Stepping outside, he ran into Sarah Lyell who was going to make her way down to the airfield to talk to they're guests. Much like when around Tamara, Jon stayed by her side as Active guard for her. With this day and age, you always gotta have someone watching your 6. Walking across the airfield, his eyes saw the group of people standing around they're helicopter and the warplane from so many centuries ago. He steeled himself up encase something was to go down, him and Sarah walked up to the members with smiles on they're faces.
Looking at them, he would tip his hat to them. "Morning everyone, hope yall slept peacefully last night? I'm Gunnery Sargent Jon Allister, some call me Preacher." Swinging his rifle from off around his shoulders, he propped it against the P-40 Warhawk. Whistling a bit, he looked over the fine built, American made Airplane. "That is a beautiful Fighter you have here. P-40 Warhawk, Correct? I was a P-47 Thunderbolt type of guy. But all them old Fighters have a place in my heart. And those Pilots back then, they earned a place of respect in my books."
Before Sarah could reply to Thomas's comment, he heard someone - by the looks of it, her security, Thomas mused - else chime in... "Morning everyone, hope yall slept peacefully last night? "That they did, sir," Thomas said, his gravelly British (by way of Kenya) accent evident as it had been on the radios the day before, "that they did. They were all good aircraft and God willing, we'll have more of them flying someday," pausing to accept a cup of coffee from Sarah as the group stood around the aircraft. "And yes, that is a P-40 Warhawk; looks like it just stepped off the assembly line in Detroit or somewhere similar, doesn't it?" Looking around at the others, he continued. "Oh, how impolite of me, Mr. Alister; allow me to introduce my comrades from yesterday and myself....I'm Thomas Kane, originally from Nairobi, Kenya but currently the leader of a small stronghold further up along the coast at the former Hunter-Liggett Airfield; these two fine upstanding fellow pilots with me are Kevin Lacey and Danielle Reichert," pausing as they nodded at Preacher and Sarah. "Kevin flew the Warhawk yesterday; Danielle was back-seat to me in the Bronco over there," pointing towards the OV-10.
"Our group up at Hunter-Liggett is know collectively as the West Coast Air Service - or as my colonial forebears back in East Africa would call it, "the Flying Doctors". Hopefully, we can do that someday; at the very least," pausing to drink some of the coffee he'd been given, "we'd like to make regular trips to-and-from Hunter-Liggett down here in the future."
Taking another drink of coffee, his mind turned to the events of the day before. "Anyway, how's that fellow they picked up yesterday....Kern, they said his name was? Any word on his condition, how's he doing?" adding, "Also....I heard about the person you guys lost yesterday; it may not mean anything, ma'am, but would you please pass our condolences along to Ms. Lyell," Thomas's voice trailing off as they stood there around the aircraft.

"I will," Sarah said quietly, still somewhat in shock over everything that'd happened the day before, "and Kern's going to be alright; he suffered some wounds, but he'll be alright." Before she could add anything, Sarah felt a few waves of queasiness pass over here; stopping where she stood, she held her hand out and said, "Its' alright, just a little morning blah, that's all," trying to hide the fact that her world was going to be a lot different in about seven months or so.... ....(flashback)a few days earlier.....
Sitting inside the medics' office, Sarah waited to find out why she was so darn sick to her stomach at times the past few weeks; although she kept a good face about it, eventually she knew she had to go see the medics, find out what was wrong. Hearing one of the medics walk inside, Sarah asked, "So, what is it? What's wrong?"
For several moments the medic kept a stoic face before saying. "Ma'am, those morning ills you've been having....they're not anything contagious or anything like that.--"
"So...?" Sarah said inquisitively.
After a moment's pause, the medic sat down and said to her, "Ms. Lyell, you're pregnant..."After the queasiness passed over her, Sarah felt better, though there's come a point, she knew, when there was no way to hide what was coming down the pike....taking a few deep breaths, she said to everyone, "Alright, now where were we again?..."

"I don't know off-hand," Thomas began to say, but before Thomas or anyone else there could say anything - they too heard Thomas's call for the Scout team leaders to report to the Main Castle. Sighing with a soft, diffident British kind of style, Thomas said to her, "We can talk later, Ms. Lyell-Haru; sounds as though something's about to go down again." Turning to his two compatriots, he said, "I'm going to head up to the Castle over yonder with her and Preacher here; in the meantime, I want both of you to goover the aircraft, see if anything's a-miss or if there's anything....you guys know what to do."
Turning to both Sarah and Preacher, Thomas added, "Lead the way."
