Josie knew it was the easy way out...to just leave like they did. Somehow Thad got her out...he got them both outand she wasn't even sure how. She followed his lead, sneaked into the woodline and they were able to get off the farm without a second thought. She knew Thadd felt guilt about leaving the farm, but he was the one who suggested leaving the farm so she could heal.
She slumped down against a tree for a second, needing to rest after everything that happened. She pushed her hair back and looked up at him as he stood watchful. She knew what he was watching for and she feared the same thing he did. What he said would be a thirty minute walk would likely become an hour, maybe more because of how she felt. She was thankful that he was with her though.
"You didn't have to do this, Thadd." She looked back towards the farm, trying to carry what she could, not letting Thadd do all the work even though he offered. She wanted to carry her own weight but now she was starting to think this was bad idea. She dropped the little bag she hastily packed without raising suspicions and leaned down a bit. She felt nauseated and pushed her hair back, feeling the bump against her head and the ache in her back as she leaned down.
"I could have gone on my own. I know you didn't really want to leave. But thanks for coming. I just...need a second."
She didn't care that they had to leave the farm. It was a matter of self-preservation at this point and at this rate, she was still alive, but barely at the farm. The raiders were closing in...they were everywhere. There was no escaping them anymore. She was looking forward to getting to the farmhouse, but another thought popped into her head. She looked up at Thadd as he stood there making sure none of the raiders followed them.
"What if they are at the house where we're going?" She knew it would all be over if they arrived at the house and there were a group of Kennedy's men there. She wasn't sure why the raiders would capture them though. "I mean, we're still free to go wherever we want, right? It's not like we're his captives..but...I don't think I can fight right now."
