Fable had been checked by the court physician . Thankfully she was in much better health than the first time she had become pregnant. Darynn was a little ball of energy, crawling as fast as her little body would allow. Being pregnant was tiring in itself….but with another child to watch out for it was even more so. Fable kept Darynn indoors as much as possible with the weather quickly growing colder. It was hard to find ways to occupy her curious little mind though. It wasn’t like old days when a parent could go out to the store and get a singing toy or a bouncer.
Fable had help, but she still always felt tired. And when Cedric had to leave she felt her heart sink deep into her chest with a fear that he would never return. She wondered how Darynn would take the new baby…and whether it would be a girl or a boy. She already knew Cedric would love it regardless. She had been so worried about how he would take the news of her being pregnant….Perhaps it was her experience with Marc that made her fearful of such news. Cedric had been happy….and Fable had again been struck by how lucky she was to find such a man….especially in times like these.
One of the maids dropped in and offered the queen a smile along with an offer to watch the little one so she could rest. Fable hesitated, worrying that maybe she wasn’t spending enough time with her first born…But the thought of a nap was heavenly. She gave the woman a grateful smile and kissed little Darynn atop her chocolate curls. Leaving her in the reliable company of the maid and her two wolf pups. They were older now. Somewhat gangly in their awkward age, however they were both ever patient with Darynn. Not once snapping at her despite her pulling and tugging at them.
She made her way back to the king’s quarters. There had been word that he might return today, but it was but a rumor. She sat down on the bed and let her palm slide over the ever so slide bump of her stomach. Her pale blue eyes closing for a moment as her weary body relaxed. What she wouldn’t give to have Cedric here….he was always so busy…and yet when he was home he always found time for her and Darynn. It made her miss him all the more when he wasn’t home.
