The Atlantic Sea seemed to lash everything it had against the UH-60 Blackhawk as it made it's way towards the New York skyline, for too long the cities sky had been bare of human life and tonight it was all going to change. Like a kid on there way to a sweet shop the crew of the Blackhawk held grins on there face, like riding a bike it all came back naturally to them and not one infected could take that from them now. The Blackhawk weaved the curves of the Hudson River, still the Blackhawk showed little regard to the Atlantic Seas thunder and rain as it made it's way deeper into the city. Once the Blackhawk reached the Yonkers it raised high above the roof top leaving the river and made a direct approach to Rikers Island.
Lenka felt the pull of the Blackhawk as it pulled up and it turned in to a new direction. Tapping the Co pilot's shoulder Lenka stared out the window as the rain lashed against it and the lightening displayed the silhouettes of the empty city.
" How long," even after all this time spent in America her accent remained a thick Eastern European," Well,"
" Just passed Yonkers, shouldn't be too long,"Co pilot's voice was calm and relaxed," We'll get you there ,"
Lenka sat back into her seat leaving the pilot's to there flying. She had to admit to herself, it felt good to be back on a mission again and not some daily horde culling. It was these meaningless tasks that were only fit for these civilian survivors that she hated, she was a soldier and not a ground keeper for infected. Civilian survivors were one thing that got to her, they had survived the world of the infected and for this reason they'd seemed to think themselves on the same level as her. In her eyes it was far from the truth, before the infected she had seen the horrors of man and all they were capable of. Now there were new horrors that were no longer just a nightmare added on and she had ten times the experience than any civilian . One thing she wasn't was a baby sitter and she got tired of having civilians involved when deal with these. In the end they were more trouble then they were worth. Now it was different, she was part of team that knew what they were doing and it felt good.
It had been a year since she joined West Point and since joining she had pushed for the need to go on the attack. To do more than just sit around, to have an experienced military team that could handle itself and make a brighter future. With the fall of the Hive that time had come.
