The night was uneventful as Ellie and Amarie spoke about what transpired between her and Arden and she was surprised to hear this was Amarie's deflowering. Her friend seemed upset about what happened, but relieved all at the same time. She loved her brother and she knew how crude he could be so it was no surprise that he fell dead asleep after the act, leaving Amarie on her own to deal with these emotions. But that was okay, that's what she was here for, even if it meant Tobias was put in an awkward position. He stayed quiet as she spoke to Amarie, telling her that what happened was a good thing. After all, no one should die a virgin in this world.
When they had eaten their fill, she made sure nothing went to waste even though Arden never came down to get a bowl. She had a strong feeling he was going to be a bear when he finally woke up hungry as hell. It was his own damn fault for forgetting to eat. When Amarie peeled herself off the couch, she left it open for Tobias to park himself there for the night while she went up to her own bed. Of course, she left it a bit open for him if he decided to sneak up there and stay the night with her. If it was one thing she knew, no matter what he tried, she was not going to spread her legs for him...not tonight at least.
When she woke up, she discovered she was still alone in her bed and that was just fine also. The sun was already starting to peek through and there were no other sounds echoing through the house. Although she was tired, she was still awake for a good long time while the others slept. She didn't hear Owen and Remy come back. Daisy and Damon were still away and no other strangers had found their way up the stairs. Ernie had been tooling around and she assumed he was up late drinking, but nothing was coming from his room this morning. She was, surprisingly, the first one up. Usually she was one of the last up but today, she would be that early bird that got the worm. She got herself dressed and grabbed her gun, checking on her brother and Amarie who were snuggled up together under his covers, before peeking in to a very passed out Ernie. She went downstairs and saw Tobias completely passed out on the couch in front of the fireplace before heading outside.
The crickets were quiet as the frogs continued their morning chirps, soon to give way to their daylong slumber away from the summer sun. There was a mist that rose off the ground, seeping from the swamp that gave off a heavy scent of marsh, leaves and amphibians. It was a dank smell she had missed while she was trapped in New Orleans and one she would never forget. As she went down towards the driveway to see what Amarie and Branden had worked on she was surprised to see three walkers on their property. It was an affront to her sensibilities that these three had penetrated their defenses, not that the defenses would keep everything out, but still.
She frowned as she watched them approach, slowly, stumbling like drunk rats looking for a free meal. She pulled out her handgun for a little more target practice that would echo across the property. The shots rang out, cutting through the air and slicing a sound that would probably wake everyone up inside with alarms. Gunshots always did that. It was a sign of trouble and danger but not for her. For her, it was the sound of taking care of business.
