Describe your character's life before the apocalypse:
-Maron helped out with his family's business his entire life. They ran a bait and tackle shop in the town. Also giving bayou tours on a rented airboat to tourists. Maron caught on pretty fast how to help out all he could. He especially liked catching frogs, crawfish, and shrimp for the local resturants. Though when he was twelve his dad died in a bar fight. The family changed after that.
They could no longer afford the shop full time, and only operated it during the summers. Maron helped out all he could while Odette and his mother worked jobs to pay for them. It was different without his father. Though a violent drunk, he was dearly missed by the boys. It was up to Collette to teach them to everything they knew.
Maron did decently well in school. He joined the football team his freshman year. Got serious with one of the cheerleaders. After a big game the year he was fifteen he snuck off to a room with her. Engaging in intercourse he knocked her up. She would come to drown herself a year later, ending her life and the unborn child. To this day only Maron and his dead girlfriend know about it.
Maron graduated highschool with low grades. He barely passed, football went no where. He had no ambition for college, not that he could afford it. He continued to work at the shop. Eventually he took up jobs at the mill and fishing boats to help bring in extra cash, as many of the young men did out of school.
What happened to you character out break day:
- Maron had been help his momma around the house, tidying up here and there. The news reports were going crazy, people on lock down, arrests. Riots all, over New Orleans. The local sheriffs had mostly kept everyone civilized in town. But tension was high as Tom and him made his way back home for the night, after getting supplies for their mom.
They arrived home just in time to see Caleb and his girlfriend at the time pull up. As the boys unloaded groceries Caleb and his girlfriend bickered. She ended up driving off down the road with him. A crash would happen moments later. As Maron and Tom finished putting away the groceries they noticed Caleb had wandered back.
He seemed drunk, delirious. As momma came to greet him he tried attacking her. Tom noticed that Caleb's girlfriend was doing the same, trying to bite and attack them. Figuring them to be on drugs Maron and his mom held them back as the Tom phoned the sheriff. With the lines busy and down all over it was panick.
Deciding to act Maron grabbed his father's old rifle. He came out to the yard and shot both down where they stood. They took a hit but kept coming, kept lunging at them. It took another shot to the head to bring them down. They went down this time, stayed down.
Together Maron and Tom buried the dead, and marked their grave off with a makeshift cross. They helped Odette and their mom with anything they needed, and went to bed.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
- With Caleb gone it wasn't the same. There were only two boys now, Tom and Maron. They helped out all they could, for two years kept alive in their small home. Maron hunted and fished all he could, helped out on runs. But after a few close encounters with the biters Tom and him decided to limit I their runs away from the house.
Sometime in their mom got sick. They didn't know what was wrong. As Odette searched for medicine the boys decided to head out. Their mother agreed they could head into the city, so off to New Orleans they went. They took the second vehicle, their mom's new jeep prior to the outbreak. Together Maron and Tom left the town and headed to find medicine in the city.
They searched for about a week, hitting up all the places they could. Eventually a group calling themselves the trackers. They corned him and Tom in shop, held them at gunpoint. As the boys fired back they were beat down, taken out. The trackers hauled them off to some school, tied them up and kept them in a room.
They were kept their for months, fed barely any food to survive. There were six other people with them, girls and guys ranging from tom's age to their mid thirties. They were trapped held against their will. Kept their bound and locked in a room. Sometimes the women were used, and the men beat as the trackers took out their anger. But they kept them alive, saying they were going to use them as trade to a slaver group up north.
Eventually one night Maron had an idea to escape. A window had been broken the day before, and he snagged a piece of glass. Using it to cut the glass around the wrists he freed his hands. He manage to squeeze through a hole one fence and made his way across the yard of the complex these people stayed in.
During the desperate moment he was only looking out for himself, no one else. He wanted to get free, and home. Leaving behind. Tom he fled. He wandered for a few days, riddled with guilt and fear. He hates himself for what he did, but knows he had to get home, no matter what.
