Jace helped Nicole to her feet and she stood fairly solidly. She made sure to just stay put for a moment to make sure she wouldn't topple over or freak out again. His hands supporting her helped but he said something that irked her.
Her eyes locked on his as her brow slowly raised. "I wasn't an officer. Don't call me 'ma'am' cause I work for a living. I'd hate to cash in now on that 'free shot' you offered too early. Rather keep it for a rainy day." She smiled a little. Maybe he wouldn't get it, but that was fine. It made her feel a little better regardless. However, the prospect of getting a drink now was something she seriously wanted. When he suggested they find a bar now, she wanted to but she wanted to get to where ever they were going more. Then they could make a go of it.
She brought the pistol back up once Jace let her go and thumbed the safety down and placed it back into her vest. Her hands then grabbed her M4 and held it loosely against her chest. A wave of extreme fatigue washed over her. Still exhausted from the previous day and the watch during the night, not to mention the mini-break down she just had, she glanced around.
"If we're taking anything from here, we should take it now. If not, we should go. We have quite the number of people outside that... Well, we just have a lot of people out there. We really oughta go and find wherever we are headed soon, yeah?"
She took a deep breath and took a quick step past Jace when suddenly her right hand shot up to grab his right forearm, near the bend in his elbow. Nicole's gaze was still forward facing when she spoke. "No one needs to know about this. Not yet. Got too much else to consider. I'll be straight."
Nicole's hand slowly made its way down his arm until she found his hand and gripped it tightly for a moment. Just for a moment. She looked at him with the slightest of smiles. "And... thanks." Maybe it was a little longer than a moment. With a nod, she let go and pushed back down the aisle and brought her weapon to bear.
