Remy didn't think about getting a cooler or something to carry all the fish in. Owen was right. Damn it had been so long she nearly forgot how to do it all, for real. Including scaling and deboning the fish.
"Yea, I'll leave that dirty work to you." She grinned as she said that, still keeping her eyes on the water as she was furiously trying to get the blush out of her cheeks for stammering on the way she did. It was like they were fifteen all over again and he was coming in for that kiss. She was trying to be cool about it, but it was nothing but awkward for her. With Luca, she knew the moment she wanted to be with him and she went for it. With Owen, the moment had always been there but the distance between them kept her guarded from anything more. That was the safe way to go.
"I...I didn't know I was the only one you gave that gift to." It suddenly went from a cute little necklace to something very sentimental. "I still have it. Or, had it. It's in my jewelry box at my apartment. Couldn't take much when I hit the road."
She thought for a moment as this moment between them started to grow. The seed had been planted last night when he stayed with her. Now it was up to her if she wanted to water that plant.
"I guess some things we never really forget, in the long run. Being here now, I remember everything about you, Owen." She turned to him a bit, eyes still down as she spoke not wanting to read what his eyes and face would say. "Including why I never wanted to leave at the end of summer."
She placed her rod in the old pvc pipe that had been nailed to the docks. It was a place where they could put their rods and leave the hooks in the water. She stood back up and looked at the fish on the dock. "I'll try to find something in the shop we can put the fish in."
The shop was only a few feet away so it wasn't like she was abandoning him again, but her heart was beating so fast she knew she was bound to say something idiotic to him in all this. The door was open and off the hinges, allowing her to step in and over the debris to try and look.
