Remy figured the stores that had guns were probably picked clean. Those were the first places to go to stock up on supplies needed to survive this life. She liked what her cousin was saying about the farm house with stocked up guns. If the owner was still there they would have to just overtake him to get what they needed. Maybe it was a place they could hole up until they figured out a game plan on how to get their property back. She wanted that property. It was on the water. There was wildlife. There was room and it was on stilts, keeping them a bit safer from walkers.
"Look, ya'll may think of some grand plan to take over a bunch of guys in the middle of the night, but what happens when we're wrong?"
She stayed leaning against the car as she crossed her arms over her chest, looking out the barn doors towards the road they just came down. "We lose. Yea, okay, so what's the worst that can happen? They shoot you in the head and it's over right? Best case scenario, they leave you for dead, but you know what they'll do to me? I won't be so lucky, boys. You may as well just strip me naked and throw me to the wolves because they probably won't be as nice as a pack of wild dogs."
She looked at Arden with an intensely icy gaze. "They'll probably make you watch what they do to me for killing their friends."
She stayed silent for a second before interrupting before they could say anything more.
"No man, no. I'm not going into that. We need help. We need more guns and we need more people to help us."
"That wouldn't happen," Arden said folding his arms. He was protective over his family, he wouldn't let that or anything like that happen. "If we fail, I'd kill you. Let them rape the corpse. I wouldn't watch because I'd kill myself after. We don't fail. We never have, and we'll continue it that way. But we aren't ready, we can't do this alone. We need people willing to throw their lives on the line for strangers, morons. We need people who will just follow us blindly. That hotel, it was filled with them. People following you for no reason. Not even a cause."
He looked around. "But we aren't ready yet, that's a given fact. But we can still watch them. Get a count of numbers, go to some of the nearby farms, get weapons. See if anyone is still alive and kicking. Locals will help us. Hell they wouldn't even need a reason to fight beside us, they just would. Like Nolan here. We all drank the same swamp water, sweat and bled it."
He leaned against the car. "No one was saying we do it now. For once I want to wait, till we're ready."
What Remy said made him think of Tim, what that man was about to do to him. Held him, the closest he had to woman he said. Shaun shuttered at the thought, it made him sick. The big Neo-nazi. Holding his son, undoing his belt. Shaun wouldn't let that happen, not again, not to anyone. No one should have to live that. Raiders, what they would do to just get some. Remy, he admitted she was good looking, probably a dream to the raiders if they lost, but he wouldn't let it happen.
"If the odds are against you then why reclaim it? Why. It move on, find a new place? You have family, you mentioned others. Go find them, the house should be important. It's a house." He didn't know if he was speaking to them, or his brother. Another being throwing his life away to find a family home. They didn't need that, they had each other. Which was more than Shaun could say.
"I'm just saying. This all seems pointless. Neither of you expect to win. It's not like people will just ride in to help you fight. There's four of us, no amount of weapons will change that. We only have so much people. Even if we found ten more,Mir wouldn't be enough. I don't see a win here, no matter what way you throw it."
He looked down at Scout. "I helped fix your car. I won't die for you. I'm thinking I should be on my way. Keep living."

"Alright, we wait." But she wanted to head out while they still had daylight. She wanted to get to the farm house with the stash of firearms and camp. She wanted to find binoculars and figure out a way to get closer to their homestead so they could watch what the group of raiders was doing, how they moved, how many men they had and what kind of chance they had. If only they had a few more people. If only Luca had stayed..
She closed her eyes for a moment thinking of him. He would determine a plan and be able to pick some off. They would get their property back in a defiant act of bravado, run off the raiders and make a home for themselves. But he decided to run off with Simon and go back to the guy he was. It was that thought that brought a shiver to her spine. What if he really did go back, find her note and decide to come back with a larger group of guys like him and Simon. Her and Arden would be fighting a battle they couldn't win. Luca and his men would kill her and her cousin and live happily ever after off the fruits of their labor. That thought made her mad. Luca hurt her heart either way and she wasn't sure if she could ever forgive that, especially after all she had told him about herself.
Looking at Shaun her pallor dimmed a little. "You ain't gotta stay. We'll get you further south, then you can go on your way with your buddy there." She pointed a hand to the dog before gesturing to the car.
"Let's go. We ain't got all day to stand around with pipe dreams. Dreams have already proven to be bullshit."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
