Al heard voices, so clearly someone was up there. However, it also sounded like they were freaking out from his attempt to get their attention. He sighed, realizing he may have just gotten himself into a bad situation with these folks. He took another look down the streets to either side, still no walkers thankfully. Granted, that could change in a heartbeat, but he'd take his chances for now. He sheathed the knife and raised his hands. "Hey! Hey you up there! I just want to talk!" He called up, trying not to be too loud. "I mean no harm, just a guy looking for a place to hunker down and maybe some other people in the same boat."

"Tory get downstairs now, go on Ill be right behind you."
Tory rushed for the door before hesitating in the entry. A rock? She quickly recalled how Steph had gotten her attention just the day before. Wouldn't someone threatening have shot us already? Tory looked back at Roman to see if he was following, she didn't want to speak in case the person was still unsure of where they were, the rock had been aimed at the roof and they were on the ground. "Can you see anything?" she whispered to Roman, hoping he had a better view. She couldn't just leave someone who might need help all alone. At the same time, she didn't want anyone to get hurt. Please be a nice person.
"I just want to talk!" He called up, trying not to be too loud. "I mean no harm, just a guy looking for a place to hunker down and maybe some other people in the same boat."
"I'll go get the others," Tory spoke as she heard Steph call from below. Had she heard everything from down there? Flying down the basement steps she almost ran into the woman. "Steph, Kevin, Mike, there's a man outside! He wants to talk!" She didnt know what to expect, but if the last bunch of people she had met were the norm, there was a good chance they'd have another person staying with them.

Michelle had walked for days. Once the truck over turned, she had grabbed what she could and got the hell outta there. She drug one of the packs and carried the other, her original, on her back. The walking wasn't terrible, it was all the darkness at night and being alone.
The guilt was eating at her, as well. She didn't know if Mick and B were dead, or alive. She had been too scared to check. They both looked asleep, but she feared they were gonna turn, or worse, be alive and she would have to finish what the accident started later. She couldn't do that. Besides, the bastards that had hit them, caused the accident, were coming. What choice did she have? She crawled out of the busted windshield and hadn't looked back.
For the last day she had roamed the city. Her clothes and hair were filthy. She had dried walker blood and guts all over her, along with a few cuts and scrapes on her face and hands. She had been lucky, to not have been injured worse.
She heard something, sounding like falling pavement. She hobbled into view of a man. He was looking up, and had just called up to someone up top. Michelle looked at him, and let go of the strap of the pack she had been dragging. She moved closer, she was good at being silent. Growing up with two deaf parents, Michelle had learned alot about being deaf. She had reverted to it, when the world went to shit. She rarely spoke, and most people, that she met, were led to believe she truly was deaf. Mick had figured her out rather quickly though, that she could hear, though, she would be more careful next time.
Slowly, coming up behind the man, she reached out her hand and poked him, then scooted back , quickly. Large blue eyes stared at him, and she tried to smile, to make her appearance seem better. She knew she must look a fright. Michelle waved her hand, and pointed to her ears, shaking her head, then to her throat, and repeated the head shaking. She was trying to tell him, hoping he would understand and not just think she was crazed.
Al stood in wait of whoever was on the building to, hopefully, come see that he meant well. He didn't drop his guard though, he kept listening for the sound of something to come shambling towards him. He was rather surprised when someone touched him, especially since he hadn't heard anyone coming. Spinning he drew his revolver and pointed it at whatever had touched him and found a girl staring at him. This explained why he still had a throat right now. "God damn it, don't you know to not to..." It was at that point he noticed her motions to let him know she was 'deaf'. "Of course, deaf. Just my luck." He holstered the gun and turned back towards the building. "Hey, whoever's up there, now there's a deaf girl here too, just letting you know."

Roman heard the voice of the man, he just wanted to see if we had any room for one more....scratch that two more with one being deaf. He was still cautious as he slowed started walking over to see what exactly was down there, while had a hand behind him motioning Tory to stay back while he investigated, if this turned ugly he would rather have one person littered with bullets instead of two. He slowly peered over the roof to see sure enough a man and a girl that looked just about his age staring back at him. He was still cautious but he gave them a smile and said,
"Same boat huh? Well, let me be the first to welcome you to the SS Screw the Apocalypse,"
He noticed the large revolver in the man's hand and gave a whistle. He even added a southern accent for the fun of it.
"Why sure, that's a fine, beauty of craftsmanship on that gun, I reckon. But I got's to done tell you, we might have to confiscate that, for ya, to prevent any unnecessary harm to anyone. Don't worry we'll give it back, we did the same thing to my shotty, named her Bessy and got her all pretty like in all."
He chuckled a bit but then got serious, as much as he could anyway.
"But with all honesty I can't let in a guy who can go all Gunslinger on us, you understand, right?"

As Stephanie waited at the top of the steps leading outside, she paused at the mention of another person outside. Wonder who else is going to show up? she thought to herself, trying to decide what to do. After a few moments, she heard Roman tell Tory to head back inside; turning for a moment, she called out to Kevin. "Kevin, wait here, I think there's someone else outside besides Tory and Roman. I'm gonna' check it out, see who it is."
Without waiting for a response, Stephanie called out towards Roman & Tory. "Roman....Tory, who's out there?"
Post by Michael Guarnere on Jun 1, 2015 17:41:06 GMT -5
Michael had his gun and was downstairs looking out is small window up onto the street. It was just himself and Kevin "Kev... Tell the girls to kill or get them inside quick. We dont want to draw attention right now. If any of the cities groups no we are here, lets just say we are fucked"
"I understand completely. I'll do whatever you all need me to do as soon as I get in." Al said, noticing a few walkers down a few streets. "And if you could let us in sooner as opposed to later, that'd be great. We might have a situation on our hands here in a few minutes if you don't." He grabbed the deaf girl and started to lead her closer to the building. "There's walkers out here right now and I don't really want to get eaten and I'm gonna bet she doesn't either."
Kevin laughed as Stephanie told him not to go mushy. “Sorry.” He joked. Shortly after that Tory said she needed some fresh air and walked upstairs, followed by Roman. Then Kevin his attention was drawn to Stephanie as she called his name. “Yes.” He said with a smile as he walked over to her.
Stephanie asked to show him the restaurant on the map. “Hmm I think you can better ask Michael where we are.” Kevin said. Then he placed his finger on the map and made a small circle. “I think we are in this area.” He said.
Before Stephanie replied he heard something, it seemed Steph heard it too since she asked him if he heard the sound too. “Yes I did.” Kevin said as he also grabbed his gun and followed Stephanie. Then he heard how Steph asked the Roman and Tory what was going on. “What she said.” He added as he looked at them. Kevin his attention was drawn back to Steph as she asked to grab some guns. Kevin nodded. “Will do in a bit, but first I want to know what is going on." He said in a worried tone.
Then Kevin heard how Tory said there was a man that wanted to talk. “I’ll go get the guns and Michael.” Kevin said as he headed downstairs. Stephanie told him she was going to check who it was. “Be careful.” He said before she walked out. When he was back down he saw Michael, who told him tell the girls and Roman, to get the people inside or kill them. “You are right, this is causing too much noise.” Kevin said and walked back upstairs. He didn't grab the guns for Steph since he wasn't plannign on killing, besides he had his own gun.
“Guys, get them inside or we will all be death, we are attracting walkers already and we could attract worse things too.” Kevin said. Then he walked closer. “Surrender you weapons and we’ll let you come in.” Kevin said in a stern tone.

As Steph and then Kevin passed her on their way up the stairs, Tory elected to stand back as opposed to getting in the way. She watched the door from the basement with nervous anticipation. Hearing the voices up above, she could only wonder about what was currently transpiring on the street.
Tory realized that whoever was out there may not have eaten in awhile so she fished in her pack for the last of her box of granola bars. Grabbing the remaining two, she returned to awaiting the others. Tory took a seat at the table and made herself comfortable, crossing her legs.
She listened for different voices, or at least tried to, the walls were pretty sound proof. One Woman...Three men The woman was obviously Steph, and two of the male voices were Kevin and Roman. Based on this, the teen figured there was one stranger outside.
Too many She thought looking at the bars she had set on the table top. Oh well She figured. If there's only one he'll just get two. She was prepared to give a warm welcome for their new guest.
"Alright, take them, just please let us in." Al said, he unhooked his pistol and knife from his belt and then slung his assault rifle off of his shoulders. "I don't know what she has in terms of weapons and she can't hear anything either." He said to the people in the building. "I don't know how much longer it'll be till those walkers notice us, so if you could hurry up, it'd be much appreciated." He looked back to where the walkers were and saw a couple start to stop and turn towards him.

Without waiting for any prompting, Stephanie motioned for the pair to follow her back inside. "Come on, y'all," she said, her voice quieter than before, "the sooner we can get back inside, the better." Glancing over towards Kevin, she added, "We get them inside, then we search them; the less time we spend out here, the better."
Michelle saw the gun and backed away a few more steps from the man. He was definitely talking to someone inside. He got that she was deaf, that was good. She snagged the strap of the bag on the ground and pulled it towards her.
She made a small noise as he grabbed her. Eyes huge. It was only a couple of the dead. She had seen them, but didn't understand why he was freaking out so bad.
The dark haired woman waved them inside, and Michelle went, pulling the pack with her. She dropped its handle and the pack on her shoulders as the got inside. They were gonna search them, right? She had a fun belt, police issue around her waist and a pistol nestled in it. It was far to big for her petite frame and hung a bit awkwardly on her hips. When the searched they would find her backpack co rained change of clothes, a couple tablets,,pencils, and a collapsible walking stick for hikers. The duffel she was dragging contained a lot of MREs and some weapons and some military armor. It was things she and Mick and B had salvaged from the fort.
Large blue eyes stared at the new people. She would be pretty if she was t covered in all that crap. Michelle glanced at Albert and tapped his arm. She smiled at him and placed her fingers of one hand to her chin and pulled them down. (Thank you)
Al followed the girl in, weapons still in hand. Asides from those his backpack had a few MREs and a few other random things. He'd left a lot of stuff back on the bridge since it made no since to try to carry any of it into the city. "Thanks for not leaving us out there, who knows how long it would have taken to find another group out there, and who knows if they'd be friendly." He looked at the people around him, trying to get an idea of what sort of structure they had. "Name's Albert, pleased to meet you all."

Roman went back inside as soon as the newcomers were rushed in. He looked down the street where the walkers were and it didn't seem like they were too keen on anything over here, for now anyway. He went downstairs and saw everyone was with the newcomers. As they got well acquainted he came down the staircase and folded his arms and leaned against the wall watching them and keeping quiet. They seemed liked some nice folks but he couldn't really say for the deaf girl since he can't sign or anything like that, on the other hand this could be an act and they're about to mug everyone and just using the situation as an advantage. He didn't want to make accusations, cause he was just in that same situation a while ago. So to bide his time, Roman softly knocked on the wall and softly rapped the lyrics to "Judo Flip" from Asheru.
"I am the stone that the builder refused; I am the visual, the inspiration that made lady sing the blues; I'm the spark that make your idea bright; the same spark that light the dark, so that you know your left from your right; I'm the ballot in ya box, the bullet in your gun; The inner glow that let you to call your brother son; The the story that just begun, the promise of what to come and Imma remain a soldier to the war is won......."

Michael took a large bite out of his breakfast bar and turned around holding his pistol and spoke in an assertive manner "Welcome to my paps Cafe, Now turn around and face the wall hand on your heads" He looked over to Stephanie and motioned for her to search the pair.
Seeing as they had stayed the night he had some trust for her and Tory, he fully trusted Kevin yet he was still unsure over Roman and in such a big City they could take no chances. While waiting for the pair to comply and Stephanie to search them he spoke again
"They have any weapons when you saw them? Seem like they were being watched at all"
Post by Stephanie Harrington on Jun 2, 2015 21:59:13 GMT -5
As the pair turned towards the wall, Stephanie holstered her pistol and began searching them, starting with the disheveled girl first. Patting her down from head to toe as quickly - and as carefully - as possible, all she could find on the girl's person in terms of weapons were two things: a knife and a pistol that was fastened to a police belt of sorts. Setting both items down on the floor nearby, she lightly tapped the girl on the shoulder and motioned for her to go on inside with the others; motioning for her to look at her lips, Stephanie said to her slowly, "Go on inside."
After a few moments, she began searching the man, again searching him from head to toe as quickly but as carefully as possible - no sense taking any unnecessary chances, she mused. After searching him and setting his weapons aside next to the girl's, she motioned for him to go on inside as well...
"They have any weapons when you saw them? Seem like they were being watched at all"
Quickly picking up the weapons she'd set down on the floor, she walked back inside and set the weapons down on one of the tables. "The girl," Stephanie said, pointing towards the disheveled girl, "had a knife, a walking stick and a small camp shovel. The gentlemen," pointing towards the man, "had a rifle, a .44 revolver and a knife as well."

Tory watched attentively from the table as Steph searched the pair. Michael seemed unnecessarily authoritarian in ordering the two against the wall in her opinion, but she figured it was with good reason...you never could know in this world. His house, his rules.
As soon as Steph was finished, Tory hopped off her chair and slowly made her way to the newcomers. The man was tall like Roman, but way older. The girl appeared of college age. Both were rough and kind of scary looking like they had been outside for awhile; Tory hoped they could make them feel at home.
Handing them each a granola bar, the short blonde introduced herself with a nervous smile. She felt like there was a bit of tension in the room, the man had almost hit her with a rock, so she did her best to lighten the mood. "Hi, I wasn't sure if you guys have eaten, my name's Tory."
After greeting them, she moved over to the wall next to Roman. She wished they could have finished their conversation, but she figured there would be plenty of time for talking in the future. For now, she was content to lean back with her hands folded in front of her. Taking a moment to play with her hair, she watched the room in front of her.
Mike, Kevin, Steph, Roman, herself, and the two strangers...it was surreal that they had all found each other under one roof in only two days. To the young girl it was if someone unknown had planned it. A miracle. Speaking softly in an almost half-whisper, she had a real smile. "Roman, I think things are going to turn out alright." We're going to make it.
Michelle stared at the dark haired woman. She made sure Michelle focused on her mouth. She was nice. She liked her already. She did what she said and went inside. Her eyes went from face to face. She wrapped her arms around herself and tucked some hair behind her ear. She hated this part. Meeting new people , why they gawked and stared at her. When Albert came through, she slipped closer to him.
The one dark haired one seemed to be in charge. Michelle stared at him for a moment, then the younger girl came over and held out a granola bar. Michelle looked at it, then focused on her face. She reached out and took it.
Michelle held it and looked at Albert. Her hands started flying. She pointed at the duffel bag, and her pack and made the gesture of writing. Her hand gripped his arm, and the fingers of her right hand went fast. She was spelling her name in American Sign Language. She made a soft noise, like a grunt, and pointed to her pack again. She wanted her tablet, but was scared to just go for it. They might misunderstand and hurt her.
Al stood against the wall and felt himself being patted down. It wasn't particularly comfortable but if it meant being able to stay, he'd put up with it. When she was done he did as was told and moved further into the building. It was then the girl came up to her with the granola bar. In truth he had eaten before coming into the city and wasn't particularly hungry right now, but he accepted the offer. "Thanks, Tory." He said, unwrapping it and taking a bite. It was a bit stale, but everything was now. "So now what? You folks hold a vote on whether or not we stay or something?"
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
