Describe your character's life before the Apocalypse:
Amelia and her husband had been growing a part. With her constant dedication to her job as a teacher (grading papers, making up tests, planning out lessons) and his inconsistent hours at the fire house, they were always fighting about time. Neither one wanted to give up their careers, but they wanted their partner to find a way to give a little time. Their constant fighting has pushed back their plans to have children, in fact it even was used by both of them to convince the other to see things their way. Their future was looking bleak up until the outbreak.
What happened to your character on Outbreak Day?:
Amelia's final class was over, she watched her students file out of the classroom and sat down to begin work on grading their latest essays. She didn't want to go home just yet, it would be empty there anyways. It wasn't long before she'd heard screaming, students running in the hallway. She jumped to her feet and rushed to the hallway thinking that it was the worst, a school shooting. She was wrong, a walker was in the middle of the hall feasting on another student. She'd looked closely at the walker and realized it was one of her students from the first class who had been feeling unwell. Her classroom had an emergency door in the back. She'd reached for any students near her door and pulled them in, forcing them to leave through the back door. Once the walker noticed her she quickly slammed the classroom door, grabbed her purse and ran for her car. She had to get to her husband as soon as possible. She set out towards the fire department, punching in his phone number in case he'd been called out to a job. She'd later found him and together they took cover at a local abandoned movie theater.
Describe your character's life after the Apocalypse:
After the initial outbreak, they'd realized that the theater they'd taken shelter in was a perfect place keep out walkers. Amelia told her husband that they should try to convert this abandoned place into a new home using the materials found around town. He'd told her that it would take a long time with just the two of them and it was just too much space. Amelia had shook her head and told him that they needed a community, without one they'd never get far. So they took the letters for the old sign along the highway and wrote a note for any wondering people "SAFE PLACE". They took their time letting people in, making sure that they weren't bad people. They've seen people come and go but managed to collect a nice group of people to let into their lives.
