DannieLynn watched as the man put his gun down, leaving himself unarmed. It didn't mean he was any less dangerous though. She lowered her gun, but kept a firm grip on it as she stepped back, allowing him to come into the house. This time, when she heard the thump upstairs, she looked up to the ceiling and raised a brow. She knew what was up there, but at least it wasn't crashing down upon them.
"Well, come on in then. Pick up your weapon, it's fine."
She holstered the gun and looked at Emre as she turned back into the room. In the corner were two logs ready to be lit in the fireplace, but she knew that would only last a day. Chicago was worse and she knew how to stave off cold when the power outages came after a big storm.
"We're friendly here, as far as I can tell. But we should probably take the sign down before anyone else thinks we've opened up a bed and breakfast here."
She turned back to the men and had a plan set in her mind of what they needed to do. Conquer and divide. That way they could get through the night and figure out a plan of survival from here.
"I'll go upstairs and take care of our noisy friend up there. Emre, why don't you work on getting a fire started in the fireplace and seeing if there's anything canned in the cupboards we can eat tonight. New guy, get your things inside and go scour for more wood. We're going to need some for a few days and I suspect we won't find anything too dry out there. I'll look for things we can use to keep the fire going. With any luck, maybe the people that lived here hoarded newspapers."
She gave them both a grin as she turned and started to make her way upstairs. She pulled the knife out again, prepared to take care of whatever may be laying in wait.
