The sound of Clayton's voice reminded him of his father back in New York. The last straw was him stealing a car and getting busted in Brooklyn. That's when he was shipped off to boarding school in Miami where his grandparents lived. This very moment reminded him of that fateful night when his parents had to pick him up at juvenile detention and bond his ass out. Only this time, it was Luca's fault.
Thankfully, they weren't too far from where Ellie's space was and the could walk there in a few hours. Once outside, he waited for Luca and his goodbyes, heading down the road, well prepared to take out any assholes that came their way. Luca's limp slowed them down a little as they hit the sidewalk and he followed his instincts and landmarks to get where they needed to go.
"I hope she was worth it, Luca. Getting us kicked out of a place we could have gone back to. I can't say I've ever seen you get that pissed over a girl before. I'm pretty sure you've been dumped before."
He thought for a moment and remembered the time a little redhead with a hot temper came down to the station house in a fit about him.
"You remember that girl, what was her name? Annie? Edie? Something like that...she stormed into the precinct and slammed your phone down on your desk, breaking it. Funniest god damn thing I've ever seen. She started screaming about checking your texts and seeing dirty messages from another girl. I swear Luca, I thought she was going to set you on fire, right then and there. That one dumped the shit out of you."
He took a few turns and got a little lost, but when he saw a balcony with a dead body and overgrown ferns, the thing that caught his attention was a bow that was purple and gold. He knew which way to go then.
"We're close."
