The sun rose across a very quiet New Orleans and the smell of death seemed to be just another scent that filled the air. Everywhere was the same but she hoped the familiar smell of the swamp would mask the reality of what was all around them. The air was heavy, as was the mood of everyone in the hotel. Although Acer took the majority of losses it seemed their losses were heavier. Everyone that died didn't need to die. She didn't know what the catalyst for all this was, but she knew James seemed to be the center of it. She barely knew the man, but what she did know was that he was a hard worker and didn't have an evil bone in him.
Remy's eyes opened as the sun pierced through the window. She didn't sleep well with Luca gone and often times she woke up crying with Arden close by. He stayed in the chair and said nothing. She had no idea how long he had been awake, possibly all night, just to keep a guard's watch in case any of Acer's stragglers came back. Everything that happened was a huge hit to all of them. Slowly she started to wake up and turned to wipe the sleep from her eyes as she looked at Arden.
"It's time to leave I guess." She didn't sound convinced that she wanted to go, but she knew she had to if she was going to forget this place and the people she had grown closer to. The ones she was the closest to were gone and she didn't want to do this again. She couldn't get close again.
The notes had been left under the doors of those who needed to know she was gone and the note for Luca was left in the drawer with his badge and her ring. She had a sinking feeling he would never read it, but there was a hope, inside, that he would realize the mistake he made and come back for her. As she pushed herself off the bed, she pulled her hair back and started collecting the clean clothes, stuffing them in a backpack to take with her back to the house in the Bayou.
