Sarah sat still while Max berrated her about he believing in God. She watched Abby leave with him and then Paul came over to her. She nodded hearing his words. Slowly she stood up and then looked at Jay," you stay with Dean and Brian, help them."
Max thought she was broke. And that her praying was a sign of weakness, her belief in God was a sign of weakness, but it was he that made her strong and helped her to handle all this hell they went through. She grabbed a towel from the counter and followed after Paul. He had gotten ahead of her and so she had to open the door and go in alone. So much death. She stared at the bodies and the. Looked at Paul as she tied the towel around her face to cover her nose and mouth," let's lay them to rest." It was the last she could do for them.
Paul looked up as Sarah came in. "You mean dig graves? Do we have that kind of space or time," he asked calmly. "I would love to, it's the respect we need, but twelve graves it a little to much. Maybe off to the side, near the fields we can. I don't think I can drag the body all the way there though."
He looked away. "They need to be buried, but maybe we can honour them with a fire burial, like the Vikings did."
He moved to the closest body. Grabbing it by the shoulders he hoisted it up. "Can you grab the feet. We should at least clear them out of the barn. If we get them out of site other can start a set up of the barn again, re hang the tarps and set up cots."
He looked down. "We can get shovels and decide where to burry them after we clear the barn. To be honest, I don't even re,ember most of their names, I wouldn't know what to put on a tombstone."
"The last time I was with a proper group it was the bunch of us that made it out of the police station we were using. They got picked off, slowly but surely until there was only two or three of us left. The others started to get a bit...trigger happy, made me a bit apprehensive so I got out of there. Bumped into a few other unlucky sods here and there but never a group like you all. Must say you do have a pretty solid set up around here." Lloyd said, reclining a bit. "If you sat me down to tell me you were going to kick me out already, just cut to the chase. Like I said, I heard a commotion, there was the open gate, thought I'd lend a hand."
Bethany looked over her shoulder as Max came out demanding to know what kind of group he was with. She wasn't even sure if Lloyd had any reason to lie. She didn't see anyone else and it seemed he had been here for a spell now after the incident in the barn that if another group was with him to attack, they would have done so by now. She would interject before Max decided to kick the man out.
"I can keep an eye on him if you want depending on how long you let him stay here, Max."
She was well accomplished with a gun enough to know how to shoot him even from a distance if she needed to, but she had a feeling he wasn't staying long anyways. He gave himself a mission, that, in her mind, was far fetched.
"I was wondering what you would do if you did find this guy you were looking for anyways? Take him into custody? Where would you put him?"
Abby had followed behind Max, back to the newcomer. A newcomer from all accounts who had indeed helped them, or tried to. He had slipped in , not by trying, but a flaw of human error on their own parts.
She stared, hanging back just a bit. She watched and listened. Max didn't believe the man, but Bethany did, or seemed to. Abby felt her anger rising, max had already pissed her off by the way he had treated Sarah, and now this. Bethany spoke about how she was willing to watch the new man. Abby chuckled, not able to help herself," honestly, no one has even asked the man if he wants to stay." She walked forward, one would be able to notice her slight belly bump. Telltale sign of her condition. She glared at Max," you are so volatile, he may have not even wanted to stay, you are jumping the gun." She looked at the man," well, so you were a cop, and that still apart of you, in your nature, right?" She glanced at Bethany," he hasn't tried anything, right?" Her eyes back to Max." Look, if he wants to stay, I say we watch him just like we did Tyler and those two women, we can't force him to stay, but we could use another man right now, help cleaning up this damn mess!" She wasn't yelling, but her tone spoke that this wasn't up for discussion.
Sarah felt he skin crawl as she moved to help Paul with the dead body. She knew he was right and they wouldn't be able to bury them all, it had been a nice thought though. She lifted and helped carry the true dead and dos her best to not throw up. " a funeral pyre would work, pile them up and burn the bodies, it's all we can do right now." She hated admitting that, but it was the truth.
Sarah helped him with the next few bodies, one she literally drug from the barn by its arms. She was as healthy as she could be, but this was wearing her out." We need more help, I gotta rest for a minute." She leaned against the rear side of the barn and took a few deep breaths as she untied the towel from around her face," just a couple seconds." She glanced at Paul," we can burn them and say a prayer, think they will jump my throat for that?" She chuckled softly, but he would be able to see she was hurt.
Paul kept moving, he lifted the first body with her, struggling under the weight. They were heavier than expected. And the smell, he did everything he could not to throw up again. He tried to breath calmly, through his mouth, or should it be his nose. He looked away, as they set the body down. He felt another lump in his throat, swallowing it.
He undid his bandanna and leaned over, trying all he could not to puke. He leaned over, hands on his knees. Looking up at Sarah he listened to her speak. He heard what she said, and nodded.
"You're right, we need help with this. It will take to long alone. But I don't know who we can get to help, everyone already had a task." He saw the pain in her as she undid the mask, and spoke about them jumping down her throat.
"I doubt they would. Maybe you should speak to carter, the preacher. He would have a prayer to say for sure. If enough people want it, they can't stop us. These were our friends, bunk mates, lovers even. They can't say no to that. Maybe we can even burry some of them, there's space outside the wall. We have enough people who can watch. It's a good idea."

Max looked at Abby, she was right this man may not even want to stay. "That's why I asked him about his end goal." Max folded his arms, Abby was right about some point. But this man knew to much, knew the location, names, weak points. It was to risky to just let him leave. If he didn't want to stay, Max had one way he was going to deal with it, but no one would agree.
Max looked at the man as he explained himself again. "Well your cause is just, justified but stupid. We won't kick you out if you don't want, but you're. Of being forced to stay. It's up to you, you say you're cop. I'll believe you for now, even with your costume badge. Bethany can watch him, as can everyone else. If you're going to stay, you both can go help with the bodies in the barn. Lots of it is your mess anyway."
He looked at everyone around him. "If you want to leave, well then we give him the same option as we did to the girl when we're first here. We can't comprise the farm, and it seemed to work for her. You may find us again, but we'll deal with that then."
He looked at the man. "Just tell me one thing, was the killer you were chasing a kid? Early twenties, around there."
SArab glanced over at Paul," no, you're right, burying any of them would take time and it's getting late," they didn't want people out beyond the gates after it got dark." Besides, graves are more for the living than the dead, a place to go and remember, the dead don't care what we do with them, they're gone, "
She pushed off the barn wall," you saw this new guy, right? You think he was a threat, like Max does?" She shook her head," Max is a good man, but given the choice, I don't think he would open our doors to anyone." She lifted the towel," guess we better get back to it, if we see Carter, I will ask him. And you're right, we need help, but for now," she tied the towel back," we got this ."
"I guess you're right, or i'm right," Paul said making sure his bandannas was back tightly tied, "I wish we could, but we just don't have the luxury. I would have liked to honour them better. Maybe we can still have a memorial, something to rember them." In truth he only knew Cory and Tyler, but he was sure that someone must have known the others.
He could hear the commotion on the other side of the barn, Becky gathering everyone and taking names. They were organizing checkups for them all, making sure no one else was bit of hurt. It would be a lo process, hopefully giving them time to clean the barn. They had to do it before people could settle back in.
"I saw him yes. I don't know honestly. He said he was a detective, he's not from here. I don't know if he's a threat. I haven't judged him barely even saw him. He's probably fine, he was a cop after all. I agree max would have it so no one came in it if her got his way. He thinks everyone is a threat, he thought I was a threat, that girl I was with. Not everyone is out the hurt everyone, I don't think max can see that. It's how he is, he is out to hurt people."
Paul moved back into the barn and stood over the next corpse. It was Tyler's the cause of all this. His face was given, shot in no way to tell who it was. But he could tell, based on the clothes, the body. There were only so many men on the farm, only two had died. It was Tyler.
"Let's just keep moving. The faster we clear, the faster they can set back up."
"Well thank you then..." Lloyd said, mildly offended by Max's continued rudeness. Lloyd had gotten the point, he wasn't exactly welcome here, though besides showing up, he'd done nothing wrong. He'd help shoot walkers, he'd followed orders, he'd been complacent. Looks like that wasn't enough around here though. Standing up, Lloyd started to leave when Max asked him about the killer. "No idea, the team never got close to him. The best we got was a cryptic note taunting us to come find them. So if he was, then you somehow know more than we ever did. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll go help with the clean up." Lloyd pulled a cigarette from his jacket and lit it, joining the crew hauling bodies away.
Bethany looked between Max and Lloyd and it seemed that her services guarding him were not warranted yet, but he did offer to go and help with the clean up. It still left the gate unguarded and opened which means someone had to go take care of that. That someone was her.
"I'll help with the bodies too."
She pushed away from her chair and headed towards the barn to help. When she said help, she meant mostly watch over Lloyd as he buried the bodies that had stacked up. She didn't really think much of her surroundings as her mind focused on the people at the farm. She felt so oddly disconnected from them all and the one person she had befriended left in a fit of rage. She started to wonder where Thaddeus had gone off to and if he was ever going to return.
She thought as she kicked aside a few pebbles about her lease on life now. What was she supposed to do? Guard? Protect? Was she supposed to feel so disconnected from others? She never really felt that way before everything happened but when D.C. fell, she shut down. All sense of emotions were left behind as found the need to survive far outweighed the need to make friends. Up until now, it never worried her.

Sarah was helping Paul lift a body. It was male this time and heavier than the female ones. Sarah struggled to get a good hold on the legs. They slipped from her hands again. Dead weight! She would laugh if the situation wasn't bringing despair.
She glanced as she heard foot steps and saw a man she didn't recognize. Must be the new comer, she thought as she watched him approach. Sarah glanced at Paul. " this him? Guess Max is behaving." She spoke softly as the man got closer. God she hoped he was here to help. She spotted Bethany at the door." You come to help? We could use it." She looked at the bodies that were left," we are just piling them and gonna burn them, " saying it out loud made it so real. More than she liked.
Sarah righted herself and stared at the man," I'm Sarah and this is Paul." She wasn't sure if Paul had given his name before he came into the house." Listen, Max is harsh, but he just wants to keep the people here safe. You showed up at a bad time, one of our own people hid that he was bitten and caused all this." She looked at Paul, the man deserves to know why Max was so on edge, or at least why she hoped he was.
Abby watched the man and Bethany head off to the barn. She stared at Max," guess that leaves you to take watch." She shook her head and got closer to him," Max, I love you, but you have to stop. Not everyone is a bad person and not everyone is out to kill us." She reached out and grabbed his shirt, pulling him closer," like Sarah, she didn't deserve that, she's a good woman, and if holding onto God helps her through all this." She raised her arms and indicated the world around them," who does it hurt, I mean, really, seriously, you're turning people against you, we are a family, family, Max, remember that." She sighed and kissed him," if she wants to hold onto her faith, let her, she's not shoving it down anyone's throat." Abby started to walk of, back to the house to see how she could help.

Max heard Abby as she spoke and felt her pull him closer by his shirt. He heard what she said, but she didn't get it. She didn't get why he was doing this, they couldn't be weak. To much stuff had happened for them to be weak now. People were dieing and unless they became stronger people would keep dieing. It was bound to happen, Max was just trying to prevent it further.
"I won't let anyone else die," he said calmly, "not again. I've lost to much already, good people, strong people. Kids, innocent people, someone I loved. This world, it killed them. People here they have to stop relying on the farm, we aren't safe behind these walls. They need man up, take action. I don't want them to die. But they will this time if they don't. Sarah, her religious stuff, it makes her weak vulnerable. She doesn't need that, will die unless she becomes strong. Look at how well it's done her so far, raped, besten, and broken, lots of help. I know she can't help it, but talking to inanimate objects won't help it either."
He looked away. "I just won't let anyone else die, let you die." He saw he walk off and did the same. He made his way to the gate, mstepping out it to go help the others clear the walkers. He needed to do this, though sore he could still help. Right now he needed to smash some walkers.

Paul watched the body slip from her hands, nothing they could do but pick it up again. He saw the man come in followed by Bethany. Sarah asked him a question and Paul answered softly, "yeah that's him. Glad Max saw reason. We need more people, can't turn everyone away." Sarah spoke directly to the man and Bethany. It would make sense they were here to help, they had caused many of the bodies, and Sarah and him couldn't clean them up alone.
Sarah introduced them and Paul let go of one side of the body, offering his hand for LLyod to shake. "As she said, I'm Paul. Don't take what was said out there all to heart. Max, the man you spoke to, the leader, he is like that to everyone. I was hassled like that when I joined, still don't think he accepts me. As Sarah said, bad time to find us. Had ou been a few hours earlier, people probably wouldn't have been so tense."
He looked at the other bodies, "if you two grab that one over there you can get started. The quicker we move these the quicker we can start to set this place back up. We can find you bed, bet you could use a decent nights sleep, a hot meal. I think Louis will cook something big tonight, get the moral back up. Everyone will need something away from here anyway."
Paul looked down, picking the body up again. they had to burn them, he could already think of the smell. Burnt skin smelt like Burt hair, but worse, he could only imagine what it would be like with a whole body.
"Yeah, I'm the new guy." Lloyd said, looking at the mess in the barn. "Names Lloyd, looks like you two already got a nice head start on things around here." He walked over to a nail on the wall and hung up his coat. "I'd rather not get it dirty." He said to the others as he grabbed a body and started dragging it to the pile, cigarette still dangling in his mouth. "That does explain why he seemed like someone had slapped his puppy. Of course, from what I've seen of this bloke, Max, he also seems to be the type to demonstrate the proper way of slapping a puppy if he thought you did it wrong." He put the body on the pile and went back for another one. "So, when surprise walker attacks aren't happening, what usually goes on here?"
Bethany nodded to Sarah as she listened to them talk about what Max was like. She didn't know the guy too well and she kept herself distant from everyone. Hell, Paul could say he was closer to her then others but only because they went on a run together. She moved to a mauled body and started to drag it to the pile where the others were. At least there wasn't a huge clean up they had to take care of, but before the bodies were about to be burned, she went through pockets. She pulled out a pocket knife and some keys from Tyler's pocket, tossing them aside.
"It was pretty quiet around here until all this. There was some personal drama..."
She thought about it and frowned, looking to Sarah. "Speaking of that drama, has anyone heard or seen Thad? I'm starting to get worried. I think I should go on a run and try to find him. Do you think he would have gone far?"
Abby walked back into the farm house. The kitchen was packed with people. She pushed her way through and found Dean and Brian, " what can I do to help?" She glanced at the two women in the room," anyone bitten? Or is it all just minor stuff?" She looked at Brian," Sarah , Paul and a few others are clearing out the barn,we should get some of these to go out and start setting back up as best they can."
She saw quite a few hesitant glances from the kitchen. She didn't know what to say. They couldn't all sleep here in the house.
Bethany was trying to get everyone organized. She held a clipboard in hand, taking names and getting everyone ready to get inspected. They'd could do three groups, one for Brian, another for the nurse from the church, and the last for Dean. They were checking for any bite,ms retch, wound, and just simple inspection. Over twenty bodies to organize she felt underpowered.
Most listened, but she wasn't real authority. She didn't hold any power over them. Some ignored her, must moving out of her way. Lots were crying, shaking, in shock. But the ones that listened she could organize. Why did they have so many people. She had three inside right now, six more waiting to go in.
Louis was getting a table set up, getting the water pitcher to make some juice for everyone. They just needed something to take the mind off what happened. She paced the crowd and spotted Abby. Becky rushed to her side, if anyone could help organize a crowd she could.
Becky tapped her shoulder and flinched as Abby turned to her. It was out of fear. She looked down at her hand, seeing the ring that left the gash on her cheek, she cleared her throat before speaking. "Uh could you..uh..help me organize everyone. I've made a list of names, we need to see if they are bit, the three doctors running. Inspections. We just need to organize them into groups."
