When the sun rose, Acer stopped his pacing after only a few hours of sleep to regard the situation that had been created. He had been forced from his home and now him and his men had no where to go. But Colette had lots of room. The men were told to train their guns on anything that moved, but since the day before, he had a change of heart. Instead of just raiding her stronghold and killing everyone, he decided to make a bit of a change and give Colette an offer. There were a few on the table he could offer and he was prepared to concede to a few ideas.
He went downstairs and found one of the gunmen who he would disarm and send across the street to pound on the bar doors. Sending an unarmed man into enemy territory was an invitation for trouble for both sides. Colette could look like the evil one if one of his men was shot dead in the street or he could look like an asshole for sending a man to his death.
He was briefed on what to say to whoever answered the door, and when the sun was finally up, he left the building and went across the cold, quiet street to pound on the door. It echoed with each knock, keeping his face covered with a bandana and skullcap holding down his matted hair.
Acer knew if Colette was smart, she would have figured out a way to make weapons, but he had an ace up his sleeve that would save everyone. It all came down to her one decision.
Jeff saw Acher apporach. He didn't know what the man wanted, but he would quickly agree. They hadn't done anything to these people, then they burn down the mansion. Jeff had been away at the time, closin the gates to the university. He was glad he did. With the amount of walkers heading to the mansion, a hoarde was the last thing they needed added to it.
He stood as Acer told him what to do. Handing his gun to Kyle he walked across the street. His uncle had died in the fire, burnt alive in garage. He was an old man, didn't harm anyone ever. These monsters killed him like it was nothing. Acer just wanted to talk, to the leader. He wanted diplomacy, but the people in the bar wanted a fight.
Pulling his hoodie down Jeff banged his fist on the bar door. It was dangerous coming here, but he raised his hands up to show anyone lookig he was unarmed. He banged again, pushing up his glasses on his nose.
Nolan had spent all night laid down looking through his scope, several times he'd clearly see what he assumed was the enemy popping oh so freely at them. Nolan could have popped him several times but what would that do? What Hell would have been brouggt down? Both sides would kill each other and Louisiana would drown in blood. Innocent blood.
An hour or so into the first crack of day light his wondering eye caught the moving of one single subject heading their way. Nolan lined his sights to the center of the mans forehead and yet kept his finger off the trigger. The man was unarmed and had kept his hands up the whole time.
Nolan carefully got to his knees and wormed himself low in a squat through the balcony back into his room. He poked his head out of his door, "We got a single male coming this way and unarmed! He looks like he wants to talk."
Simon kept a trained eye on the man that came up to the door the next day. He had perched himself in the watch tower that had been built by James over the past few weeks. The ache in his side meant nothing when it came to self preservation. He had no loyalty to anyone but Luca at this point, and with Luca came Remy. In a roundabout way, that meant he had to be loyal to her also. If it came down to it though he would save Luca over Remy, regardless of how much he may protest.
The long rifle followed the man that came up to the door as Nolan shouted out about someone coming, unarmed. He really didn't give a shit if the guy had no weapon. He would put a bullet between his eyes if he made any false move. From his vantage point he would also see others posted here and there, scattered in the buildings around them, but the numbers were a lot fewer then he anticipated.
He shouted out to Luca who was on a rooftop nearby. "Luca! They don't have as many as I thought. We can take these guys out."
The guy was still standing there and it didn't look like anyone was going to answer the door. That was a mistake. If they didn't at least see what he wanted, they would take that as an obvious dismiss and that could be even worse for them. Frustrated at the lack of courage from anyone, he went downstairs and towards the front of the hotel. With a handgun in hand, he opened the heavy locked door and glared at the man standing there. He held a gun up, pointing it at Jeff as he spoke.
Jeff banged on the door again. He looked back at the building he came from, the building Acerbwas in. These people had striked first. They retaliated, these monsters burnt their home to the ground. They forced them to do this. People at the mansion never hurt anyone. Him and his brother hadn't even been there, but they burned his uncle alive.
When the heavy door opened Jeff stepped back. He saw the gun, felt really unarmed. He didn't have knife, a club, even a rock to throw. He looked at the man, raising his hands up and out to show he didn't mean any harm.
"Easy I'm just the messenger," he said calmly, moving his hands as he talked. "Aver sent me. He wants to speak to your leader, Collette." He looked behind the man, trying to see past him into the bar. "I don't want any trouble, was just supposed to tell her that he wanted to talk. He wants to make a deal, no one has to get hurt."
Simon kept the gun up as he looked at Jeff. He had no reason to trust this guy and he really didn't want to. As far as he knew, these people were the enemy. As far as he knew, they were all going to die. As far as he knew, this guy needed to be the first to die. He lifted the gun and pointed it at his head, cocking it as he looked Jeff in the eyes.
"Sorry buddy, all bets are off now. The time to talk is over. Seems to me like now is the time to die. Why don't you just run on back to your boss and tell him I said that."
He waited for Jeff to react before he would actually fire off his gun. He wasn't even sure if this was the right decision but from what he was gathering, there wasn't going to be any exchanges between the groups. Everyone would stay together and everyone would fight.
Jeff stared at the fun trained at him. He expected that, yet was still shocked at the movement. He still shook his hands, keeping them out and in sight. If Jeff made any movement the guy would notice. He eyes the man through his glasses and looked down at the ground.
"Listen, I'm just delivering the message. He just wants to see Collette. She just needs to do one thing. He will talk to her unarmed," Jeff said trying to convince the man. He didn't know if Acer would, but it may convince them. "They have worked this out before. There's whole years of the negotiating."
He looked back at the building. "No one needs to die. If they can work it out shouldn't you let them. We don't want a fight. You striked first, attacked us."
"No one needs to die, yet everyone will regardless of what you say there, messenger boy." He sized the man up, moving the gun down to his chest before back up to his head again.
"Yea, alright, I'll tell her to come talk to him then. But until she comes out, your buddies stay out here. We have guns on you guys and we're good shots, so you just let them know that." He stepped back and stared at the man for a second longer as he stayed at the door. "Go on then, go tell him. I'll find Colette."
He shut the door and looked back over his shoulder. "Which one is Colette?" He moved back towards the bar to ask about Colette. He had no idea what they were getting themselves into, but he had a good mind to just take Luca and Remy and just go.
Jeff just looked down as the man spoke. He was probably right. After what he heard the archer and Acer disscuss earlier st the gates, they wouldn't end this peacefully. Yet both sides had to try, if the didn't then they were throwing away a valuable option. Jeff didn't know what Acer wanted in exchange for peace, just that it had something to do with Collette.
"You don't know that. They have worked things out before. She has something he wants, something so no one will get harmed. That means not even the two who stole from us. It can be worked out, Collette just has to agree to his offer. One offer and it all will be gone. No bloodshed. We'll find a new mansion and keep at it."
The man who had the gun at him agreed to go get Collette. Jeff sighed in relief, he was glad that the man didn't just shoot him. For a while there that seemed like that was going to be the only option. As the man sent Jeff away and went to shut the door Jeff but his foot in between. It remained open.
"I want to here Collette agree to speak to him. I can't just take your word that she'll come on you going to talk to her. Once she agrees I'll leave." He stepped back. "Until then, I'll be here." He let the man shut the door this time. If to long went by he would bang on the door again.
Colette had heard the entire exchange between the two men. She stood in the doorway of the hall that connected the bar and the hotel. Arm still wrapped up, since they had no way to cast her hand, this was the best they could do. She locked eyes on Simon, watching, waiting to see his reaction to the man's foot. Simon was angry, full of it, like so many other men she had seen. He had every right to be, given their situation, but he was a time bomb. She could see it. That foot might be all it took for Simon to blow Jeff away.
She cleared her throat. She knew this would happen. Colette had seen Acer watching her through the night from his perch. She figured he would want to speak to her." Fine, I'll talk to him." She spoke with a voice that was tired, but firm. She'd been up most of the night. Pain and worry kept sleep away, and she was t about to take anything stronger than Tylenol or aspirin, after what had happened. She crossed towards Simon, leaned in and whispered to him," if things go bad, take any shot you can." She locked eyes on him. She was telling him to kill Acer if he had to, even if it meant shooting through her, should this whole thing go wrong.
Acer watched as he hung back away from the interaction between Jeff and Simon. He watched the gunman disappear back into the building, only to emerge back at his perch that was built by the very man he wanted back in his grips. Had Jeff gotten himself shot, he would have considered that to be a necessary loss and it would have proven Colette's group to be the confirmed aggressors. He finally stepped out from the building across the street, carrying a gun, but tucking it into his back waistband as Colette finally emerged.
He looked towards the headless girl that Regan and Ivy had dumped in the street, collecting flies and maggots and leaving a smell that rivaled that of any rotting walker.
"I take it you didn't like my present?" He smirked as he tapped Jeff on the shoulder. Jeff was a loyal soldier that he appreciated. Rollin had not returned and his motorcycle was still left on the side street with a trail of blood, but still no sign. "Go back and get something to eat. Gene brought as many supplies as he could..." He paused for a moment and looked to Colette. "Before one of her men burned our place down."
He crossed his arms this time, keeping his eyes locked on Colette as he spoke. "Come out from behind your brick walls and talk to me, Colette. I'm not going to hurt you, you know that. But we need to find resolution to this mess that your men started."
Jeff saw Acer approach them and watched his every move. When the man was here Jeff stepped back. He never had really liked Acer, he was to angry all the time. Acer was also cruel to those who crossed him. It was understandable, but sometimes they went to far. Kyle liked Acer though, one of the reasons Jeff had stayed. He would just avoid Acer the best he could.
"Yes sir," he said, responding to Acer. Jeff turned to leave, hoping that some sniper wouldn't just take out both him and Acer. He saw their own men with guns in the place the stayed last night. Wether Acer ordered it or not, they were ready.
He came into the building, grabbing his gun and knife from his pack. Slipping both on his person he waited for something to bad to happen. He didn't expect Acer and Collette to agree, he was just doing as he was told.
Colette heard the familiar voice and she took a deep breath, exhaled slowly. She knew the men were positioned. Damon was up on the roof, Simon had gone to the tower. She knew others were positioned in rooms with balconies. She had cover , but still wasn't comfortable with this.
Slowly she stepped out from behind the door, pushing it open. She heard foot steps behind her and a familiar voice spoke from the door way as she moved into the open road to face Acer. Cade. She should have known he would have her back. He had never let her face Acer without him before, why should this be any different.
Icy hues stared at Acer as she approached. Her injured arm rested across her waist," you wanted to talk, so talk, " Colette smirked," I will listen to what you have to say, but if this is about handing people over to you, you're wasting your breath."
Arcade had heard the knock on the door. He was there, bow ready, off to the side, when Simon answered. He listened to Jeff, and didn't believe a single word that was said. Acer didn't want peace he wanted chaos. He would want something of or from Collette, something she couldn't give him. Acer would get angry and there still would be a war on their hands. A war he started.
Cade kept his bow drawn as Collette came to the room. He didn't say anything, just nodded towards her. He heard Acer's voice and shivered as he spoke. The man was a creep. He spoke of a present, with all that happened no one even noticed it. It was a failure on Acer's part, no reaction given.
"You want me out there," he asked Collette quietly as she opened the door,"or should I cover you from inside."
He looked over at Angel. "This is it. Get everyone, bang on doors, guns up. We strike the moment anything happens. Burn the fuckers."

The call had gone out that they needed to get ready. The night before had been spent getting the molotov cocktails, the ammo and other things they could explode ready for when Acer took the first shot. She could only assume that he would take the first shot at least. Unknowing if they would even survive the next day, Arden stayed close, in the room next door to where her and Luca slept. She knew what had to come, but Luca knew she wasn't about to get a shot in, considering she didn't even own a gun. The moments between them were far and few between and before he took to the roof again with Simon at the tower, a private moment was spent in the doorway. This wasn't their fight and every conversation seemed to end the same way..'just you and me.' But now that her cousin was in the picture, that altered their promise.
She went to Dan's door and knocked on the door. He had all the molotovs in there for safe keeping.
"Come on Dan, we need to get to the third floor. I think we need to get ready."
Once he opened the door, she carried one of the very heavy boxes as best she could, trying not to spill anything or drop the box of bottles that rattled against each other.
"I think we should stay on the same side, but take different rooms. You take one end, I'll take the other. We should be able to drop these down on Acer's men from a good distance and hopefully not be in the way of any bullets."
Dan heard the knock and jumped up. He moved to the door, holding on to his snub nose revolver. He opened it slowly. Seeing Remy he relaxed. "I didn't hear any shots. Did they attack," he asked quietly. He opened the door wider letting her in.
"Bottles are over there," he said pointing to the boxes. He helped her load the other bottles he just made. Picking up another box her carried it to the hall. Dan follwed her to the upper floor and to the room she was going to throw them from.
Setting the box on the bed he nodded. "Alright. I'll take a room a few doors down. Where is Arden? I expected him to be following you likes dog
Arden spent the night preparing. With Remy next door he didn't have to worry about her. He could focus on preparing his own weapons and gear. If they wanted a fight he would dam well give them one.
Arden counted all his shells and loaded his shotgun. Making sure his pistol was loaded as well he grabbed his knife. He quickly sharpened both knives and stuck it in the sheaths.
Come morning he waited in the hall for Remy. Once she was there he followed her up to where she was going throw the moltovs.
"Remy," he said to her before going to get Dan. "Last chance we can turn and run 'ere. We leave before the shit hits dah fan." He folded his arms, "I'll meet you up stairs."
Making his way to the room he went to a room on the third floor. He waited for Remy to show up with the moltovs.
Acer stared at Colette as she made her stance very clear. She wasn't going to hand over James, but was she aware of what happened to his mansion? He would make that clear to her.
"Do you know why I'm here? Do you know why all my men have surrounded you?" He paused for a second and shook his head. The madness was already swirling like a hurricane through his mind as he thought of the many ways to torment these people. He wished to see them all hanging from the trees and powerlines, dead with arms and legs cut off, like Christmas ornaments decorating a macabre tree.
"My home was destroyed. Everything we worked for was burned by flaming arrows. Several of my men were killed. All they were doing was sitting on watch. Why? Because you have James and I want him back. Your rabid dogs attacked without provocation. Everything we worked so hard for has been ruined."
Of course, what they worked for had always been sitting on the edge, teetering until it finally fell to the wrong side and broke. Arcade was just the one to give it a push.
"So I thought, how can we make this work? How can I forgive her for what her dogs have done?" He took a grand step closer, eyes shooting towards the door before looking back at her.
"You don't want to give me James, that's fine, I understand. But I want restitution. Give me one night with you." He reached a hand to her cheek, stroking gently as he looked into her eyes that were filled with the silver madness of what this world was now. Still, she was a beacon of hope. He always saw her that way. The mother of the world now and the woman that could fix what was broken. "Just one night. No guns, no weapons, just you, me and a bottle of bourbon. All this will go away."

Damon watched down hus rifle able to hear talk of an attack 'without provocation'. His teeth gritted. From his hidden position he kept his rifle aimed between Acers eyes.
After what this asshole did to Samantha he had some pretty insane idea of justice.
Colette didn't answer Cade, just held the palm of her hand down, gesturing for him to stay back. She had faced Acer many times, but this was different. She wanted it to end, to be over with. She realized at the gate yesterday, God, was that only yesterday? He wouldn't change and she couldn't help him. As much as she wished she could. He had never been a bad man. Not before all this. She knew somewhere that man was still in there, she had held out hope. Hope was gone now. He only wanted to hurt people, to abuse and take delight in suffering.
One brow rose, at his request. Was he serious? He had watched her all night long. This had to be some joke, some form of stroking his giant ego. Colette cleared her throat and thought for a moment. She glanced over her shoulder to Cade. His face told her what he thought of it. Fingers still so close to her flesh."what do you mean, exactly?" Her eyes bore holes into his face. One night. Could she do it? Deep down, she knew what he wanted. Could she do that? " one night of what, drinking and talking? " she smirked," you want my time, is that it? " she shook her head and laughed," you think we owe you, I owe you? What about the woman you took by mistake,Sam? , I didn't give an order to burn you out, believe it or not. "
Colette took a breath," and where are you wanting this night to take place, since your mansion and toys are all gone, hmm?" She wanted him to explain his details before she agreed to anything. She could do this, it was just one night, just her body, not her heart. She was trying to convince herself.
