Michael had stayed inside the vets and collected what they needed. He had allowed the others to get Kevin and Vince inside. He kept his eye on the new guy, Ozzy. Just seemed a bit of a loose cannon. Mike was avoiding treating his own wound. He needed to put it off until he had helped fix up Kevin and Vince. The group was pretty wounded already with as many healthy; Tory, Stephanie, Ozzy and Albert, as injured members; Roman, Michael, Kevin and Vince.
Mike began fixing up Kevins wound, Vince looked worse off so he allowed Stephanie to treat him. He realised he had no scissors "Yo Tory, be a doll and fetch me some scissors, there's a Hershey Baaaaaagh!... Bar in it for you." He had twisted his abdomen to address her and the wound gave him some pain. He knew in a few minutes Stephanie was going to have to deal with him too.
"Your doing Alright Kevin, just a few minor scrapes and bruises. Any thing else I have missed that hurts? Need more painkillers?"
The ride to their new location was all blurry for Kevin, he slept with Vince in his arms and slowly try to regain his energy and strength. When they arrived at their destination, the group helped Vince ne Kevin inside.
Once inside, Michael started to patch Kevin up, while Steph did the same for Vince. Kevin felt a lot better already, but he was still a bit weak. He heard how Mike needed a scissor, but yelled out in pain as he turned around to look at Tory. “Hmm, you shouldn’t be patching me up, you need patching yourself.” Kevin said with a chuckle in between some coughs. Then he heard how Mike asked if he had anymore wounds, if he missed something. “Well some more painkillers would be nice, as for the rest I just need to regain my energy.” He said with a smile.
Then he looked around and he reminded himself all these people gave risked their lives to get him out. Kevin cleared his throat. “Euhm, guys, I just want to take a moment to thank you all, I know you all had to take risks to get me out and it means a lot to know, that there are still people to count on in these dark days.” He said as he looked from one person to another. “So thanks.” He added. Then he lowered his voice again since it took a lot of energy just to speak so loud. “That being said, it also had a positive side, because I found Vince, fate is a weird thing.” Kevin said with a little smile.
Oz was relaxed now as he drops the roach on the ground snuffing the burning embers with his sneaker heel. He'd heard that Tory girl earlier squeal about a gross smell and he migrated to the other side of the pet clinic to finish smoking, "Fucking prudes man," he had said to himself walking away because he didn't want to be bitched at for no reason. Life has changed and if a man can't smoke to relax then what was the point?
Even before this Ozzy had felt like the outcast in society because he was a black kid from Compton. Ozzy will be a gang banger. He'll be like his friends, family, and nothing will change for him. Lies. Ozzy was going places and the talk had been he was the Dr. Dre of the new generation, but because of his private life and where he was from he kept his label.
Ozzy owed these people either way, they saved him from what he was sure was a agonizing death. He'd repay his debt and be on his way. Because before this Ozzy survived in the streets and this world was just that the streets.

"Here's your scissors mike!" Tory had grabbed them from the back along with a few other things she figured he might need. "We've also got paper towel, more bandages, and disinfectant spray."
She was happy. For once they actually had a real break, not a stop before something else, but a break. They had no plans, no walkers, and no slavers. It was a relief from days of constant stress; they just had to fix everybody up and they'd finally be free to leave the city...or go to Riker's...but that was a talk for when everyone was fixed up she figured. "Need anything else?"
She saw Ozzy head to the back of the clinic but didn't raise so much as an eyebrow. Wonder what he's up too... Whatever it was, it was his buisness. She was just glad the smell left with him.
"Quit moving around so much Mike. You'll just make it worse on yourself." Al said, walking into the room. "I'll patch you up Kevin, if you really need it." Al grabbed a roll of gauze and sat down by the two of them. "And don't worry about it. We weren't gonna leave anyone behind with those people." He unwound a bit of the roll. "I really hope we've seen the last of those guys."

Michael shrugged it off "This is nothing man, I took a chunk through the thigh in Iraq and had to wait 8 hours for a medic caught up in a shitstorm. Anyway you just finish what I did. Ill get some painkillers for Kev. Aint nobody patching me up till these two are done."
He grabbed some painkillers and his water canteen and offered them to Kevin before sitting down. He raised his shirt and looked at the wound seeing it had passed straight through. "Need to stitch each side up and get some pills down me. Those Assholes are gone it seems. Last I saw the building was over run."

As she went back and forth between Michael and Vince, working on both their respective wounds, Stephanie thought about the events of the past few hours and mused, I haven't seen that much action since I stared down and shot Brother Mouzone back in Charm City. Looking around to see where everyone was at, she looked back towards her two erstwhile patients. "How you guys holding up?" she asked.
While the rest of the group went inside to patch up their injured comrades, Daniel and his trio of scavengers from Rikers' Island took up positions around the entrance, facing outward so that they could see anything coming towards the vet center. Shifting his position so that he was kneeling on his left knee, Daniel got his radio out and keyed the mic. "Francesca, this is Daniel....you copy, over?" After several seconds, he repeated his message, doing so several more times before he turned the radio off and returned it to his belt. Looks like we're on our own for the time being, he thought, adding, well, we're not that alone, remembering the group inside the vet center.

Michaels patching up had begun, he looked at his back seeing the stitches. "That hurt like a bitch. But thanks" He grabbed his bag and took some painkillers whilst searching around. He found a Hershey Bar and threw it to Tory. "Nice work today kid. Kept cool."
Michael stood and re-buttoned up his shirt over the wounds before seeing the blood patch remaining. Damn I'm on my last shirt now he thought and grabbed another from his bag. Sipping some more water he felt the painkillers kicking in.

Roman sighed relaxing his feet, or more foot in one of the chairs in the vet's waiting room. He placed the shotgun he held in his hand beside him and propped his leg on the other. At this point he can say visiting New York was accomplished, though he was glad to meet so many nice people, he wanted to get out the city. Sadly in his condition he was stuck here for a while till he could walk on his one two feet. He moved his legs and back onto three chairs serving as a bed as he laid on his back.
Ozzy sat his pack by the fire truck and made his own way into the Vets clinic. He made himself at home throwing his ass across from the other brother and rubbed sleepiness from his stoned eyes.
"So fire truck man," Oz broke the silence pointing at Roman, "You a cripple or something bruh? I mean no offense and such as ma always said but walk like a cripple and drive like a professional. Name's Oz."

"Thanks!" Tory caught the chocolate bar Mike threw her and slipped it in her bag, she'd save it and probably share it later. Everybody else seemed to be making themselves at home, so she did the same, propping a cushion against the wall on the floor and laying back on it. She grabbed the photo of her parents she'd been keeping safe in her backpack and stared at it before returning it to its pocket. Everything's gonna be fine now. She looked to Mike and the others with curiosity.
"So what happens next? Are we going anywhere special after the bridge?"
They couldn't stay at the clinic forever, that the teen knew. They'd rest up, hit the bridge...and then what? She just hoped it took them out of the city, or at least Manhattan.

"So what happens next? Are we going anywhere special after the bridge?" They couldn't stay at the clinic forever, that the teen knew. They'd rest up, hit the bridge...and then what? She just hoped it took them out of the city, or at least Manhattan.
"Good question," Stephanie replied, looking over from the chair she'd sat down in. "I figure we got two choices: a, stay in Manhattan and possibly run into those bad guys we fought once more, or b, take up Daniel's offer and head over to Rikers' Island," laughing for a moment as she added with a humorous bit of deadpan, "I say we take a trip over to Rikers' and see what's what...but hey, what do I know: I'm just a tall, skinny lesbian chick from Charm City," laughing quietly for another moment more. "Michael, what d'ya think our options are?"
"You think the rest of the Island's forgotten about us, boss?"
Daniel thought Tegan's question for a couple of minutes, having thought the very same thing a moment or two. "Nah," he replied, wiping his brow before glancing over at his lead Scavenger. "Francesca knows we bought her and the rest of the Island force enough time to get what they needed done done, so I wouldn't worry about it...besides," glancing over at her and adding, "you should know that in this life, there are no guarantees." Watching the area for several more minutes, he got up from his kneeling stance and walked inside the vet center, joining the rest of the group. "Everything all right in here?" he asked.

Mike had leaned against a wall not wanting to move too much. He looed over when Stephanie spoke "Or we take our original plan... Leave New York. See what we can find South on the east coast. DC, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami, Orlando... Just a thought. Kind of sick of New York after this." He looked to the door when Dan walked inside.
"I'm sat in a vetinary clinic with a stitched up wound within a stones throw of Broadway. Couldn't be better."
"I vote we try someplace that isn't so, big city." Al said, glancing out the window. "Seeing as almost every big city upstate is over run, I'm gonna bet other big cities will be just as bad, if not worse. Between the hordes of walkers and whatever survivor got to the top of the pile first, the handful of us getting in will be just as bad as here." He wound the bandage around Kevin's wound. "I vote we try something else. Get away from cities. Settle down some place secluded. Get by." He tied off the bandage and leaned back in his chair. "Just a thought."

Michael found it odd how much opinion was divided but this showed what a new world it was. "I got family in a neighbourhood near Philly, another restraint. Mine was like a New York franchise of it. My brothers... maybe my Mom, pops and sister. Be somewhere I would like to stop off. Thought they would try make it here, why I didn't leave but maybe they assumed I'm dead... mean this city has been pretty fucked for a while. Its the biggest walker magnet in the country."
Mike realised his canteen was empty and looked disappointed. Last of his whiskey.

Tory sat up in her spot to make talking easier, Philadelphia didn't sound like a nice place to goto, but she knew if they were near Minnesota, she'd want to do the same and look for her old friends. It gave her a small of twinge of sadness to think how far away from where she grew up she had gotten, only to find the same monsters around every corner.
"I'd like to go someplace small or at least safe like Albert said, after we visit Philly. Big cities are starting to terrify me." She had too many near death experiences for a lifetime in the last week, she figured, the image of the man with the knife refreshing in her brain.
There was also Stephanie's idea. It meant staying in the city against all her instinct, but it was a lot closer. Travel seemed daunting to teen after how long it took them to reach a bridge mere blocks from Mike's restaurant. She wasn't sure how safe she felt in a city filled with the remains of the group that attacked them earlier, but she trusted Steph. Seeing Mike looking down at his canteen, she dug through her bag and offered him a bottle of water before asking Daniel the question on her mind.

Roman heard the conversation in the other room about where they were goin back and he was agreeing with not going to any to anymore big cities. He wanted to go anywhere with music, twizzlers, twinkies and place to rest. He was simple minded most moments but he cherished having that from time to time.
"Anywhere with Twizzlers and no undead are fine by me!"
