After her long conversation with Simon, who was in and out of consciousness the entire time, she got a better picture of how him and Luca used to roll. She didn't give away her own position on everything and how she felt about his past. She had told him time and time again that was his past and she wasn't going to play judge and jury...perhaps she would do the same with Simon. Maybe, just maybe, she could get him to see the same way she did. Simon was different though. He was harder. He was worse and he seemed to be just as volatile. She gave him pain pills that were left behind and he spoke about a few atrocities he did. She tried not to think Luca was there or that he knew about it, but she knew he did. It made her wonder. It made her worry.
The sun came down and no one came back. She couldn't leave though in case they did come back. She wanted to have water and fresh towels ready for them in case anyone was injured. She had the supplies on her table from the college laid out and the bandages were ready to be used. But no one came.
The moon rose up in the sky and she had to secure the building. If they returned, she would let them in, but no chances could be taken. She had to stay on the bottom floor and eventually, she turned the couch cushions over and laid down. She tried to stay awake as long as she could, but as her lids grew heavy, her worry faded and turned into her nightmares.
After takin Anthony back Dan needed to get back to Remy's. She had to know that the man they saved, and everyone else was okay. While he wasn't sure about the sniper he knew the others had made it back in one piece. Smoke still rose from then extinguished Fire by the time the reached Collette's. Dan decided to leave his stuff there, he could come back for it later. Aver wouldn't harm Collette, so it should be safe at her bar.
As he was about to leave Cade stopped him. He tryed to convince him not to go, to wait and stay at Collette's. Dan couldn't though, he had to tell Remy, it was the best thing to do. He wouldn't be gone long, and planned to return by morning with everyone that was left. As far as he knew it was just Remy left, and the sniper if he went back. He asumed everyone else went back with in the truck.
Grabbing his firepoker and pistol he exited the bar. It didn't take him long to get to the apartments. He climbed the steps and went in. There were walkers corpses everywhere, and it was dark to see any possible dangers hidden in the shadows. Entering the apartments he looked around. He hoped that there were people at least here.
Slowly he raised the fire poker before he called. "Hello, anyone here, Remy? Anyone?"

Remy immediately sat up, grabbing her bat as she heard a voice calling out for her. Her heart was thumping hard in her chest and the apartment was nearly pitch black. She had oriented herself better to the darkness, but it was not a place she liked to be. There were too many dangers in the dark. The living were drawn by senses, only by what they could see and she could not see so good in the night.
He said her name, which was a good thing, but who was it. In the bottom floor hall, the door to the apartment she was in was open and she was laying on a couch that could be seen from the doorway. She recognized the fire poker.
"Dan? Is that you?"
Standing up to get a better vantage in case it was someone with a more nefarious intention, she walked a few steps closer to the door and caught sight of his stance. He was tall and the hair seemed to fit the profile of Dan. When he turned his head, she caught a glimpse of his jawline in the moonlight and she knew it was him. She thought they had abandoned her. But Dan came back. It was probably an awkward thing to do, but she went to him and immediately wrapped her arms around him, hugging him.
"You came back."
After a brief hug, she stepped back and looked up at him. She was prepared for the worst, at least, she thought she was.
"Where...where is everyone? Is everyone okay?"

Dan moved through the dark entrance way. He closed the door behind him. He could barely make out his own hand in front of his face. With his firepoker raised, he walked forward, his feet against the hardwood the only sound. He heard a voice call him, female, younger, Remy. Everyone else who knew his name were at Collette's, or Acer's so it must be her.
He came into apartment with them door open. He could make out the shape of a smaller blonde, hair looked like a mess, and she held a bat. It was Remy. He stepped forward. "It's me, don't have to worry," he said calmly, "Dan that is."
He felt her unexpectedly hug him. At first he was stiff, like a board. I cought him off guard, he did not expect her to do that the slight bit. Slowly he eased up, looking her in the eye, though to dark to tell. He wrapped his arms around her aswell, around her lower back. Pulling her close he smiled before letting go.
"Of course I came back. We scientists can't leave each other behind. I doubt anyone else would listen to me ramble about theories." He smiled, though in the dark she probably couldn't see.
He saw he look up at him and listened to her words. She had concern I. Her voice, of course how could he be so stupid. She didn't know what was te outcome of her friends. He had come alone, probably looke bad. He didn't even know the names of them, or at least didn't remember them. Before speaking he looked down at her. Placing a hand on her shoulder he spoke.
"They are fine. We rescued your friend from Acer. Cade lead us back to Collette's the woman who was here earlier with another group. She had taken some of your other people. The rest are there, or should be. They were there when I left. Cade figured it would be safer, at least more so than here. Acer won't attack Collette, at least not tonight. Everyone can decide where they want to go later, but for now they are there." He paused, "no one was injured either, well except for the heavy set man. He will have a few injuries, but at least he's out of there. I fear Acer may be coming for you, thinking you lead these people."

Remy stepped back away from Dan and laughed nervously, not just from the hug, but about his little joke about scientists sticking together. He put her worries at ease as he spoke about Anthony being rescued without too much of a hitch, but instead of coming back here, they went to Colette's. She was actually surprised Dan had come for her and not Luca. Maybe he was done following. Maybe he was done trying to convince her otherwise.
"What...where is Luca? Is he okay?"
He said everyone was back at Colette's but she had to wonder why he didn't come. Maybe he resigned himself to actually trying to take care of Anthony instead of berating the man. In her mind, Anthony had proven himself to be a survivor and he deserved that much, even though he got himself kidnapped.
"Why would he come for me? I...I don't lead these people. Why would he take Anthony?"
She was willing to go to Colette's place knowing that at least she knew the woman and it probably wasn't some sorority boot camp of crazies like Colorado, but she was leery to leave her home. She came this far and hadn't even been here a few days to settle in. Maybe that was for the best. If they settled in, they would get complacent and this place wasn't equipped to deal with war from a guy whose only goals now were to hurt and kill.
"Luca's fine," Dan said still looking down at her. He released his hand from her shoulder. "He's back at the bar, with the others. I think being someplace new, with everyone, and your friend injured, he needed to stay, to protect. He didn't even know I left. I'm sure he wants to come get you, but he's just overwhelmed by everything."
Dan tucked his hands in his pockets. Moving toward the couch. He leaned on it. "I think Acer has got word that you lead. That Anthony may have told him something. They didn't just beat him, they beat out answers. He has to talk about something. Knowing Jackson, and the shape your man was in, He may have told them everything, about here, your people."
Dan moved off the couch, Begining to do a small pace. "You should come back with us, follow me to the bar. Take all your supplies you can. It's safe there, where your friends are. You said yourself you don't want to leave the city. Well the bar is at the heart of it. You'll still be home, and will be safe."

Remy was relieved to hear that Luca was okay and when Dan moved in her eyes were adjusting well to the darkness and him within it. He explained how Anthony told Acer everything about them and with Jackson having infiltrated the apartment, now things had become dangerous for all of them here. This place was not equipped to deal with a war and Dan had told her who a psychopath he was.
She turned away from him and paced a bit on the open floor, breathing heavily as she realized how completely vulnerable they were.
"Jesus Christ, we only just got here. It...I..." She was a bit of a loss for words as she tried to thread her thoughts together. "I wasn't going to stay here. I have family, in the Bayou. I wanted to go find them but just stop here first. Get clothing, see if any neighbors are still alive..." Her thoughts trailed off as Dan said it was safe there. She knew she wanted to leave, but there was something just keeping her here. If it were Luca, she would have him pack up the SUV they drove from Oklahoma and take off to find her family. But it wasn't. It was Dan and he had equipment here too.
"What about you? If you're with the new group that means you must be in trouble too right?"
She looked back as she heard a bit of a moan from the room where Simon was asleep. She had no idea how they would get him out of here and if she left him she knew Luca would never forgive her. His friend, regardless of what kind of guy he really was, was still his friend and he had only just arrived.
"Well you should make your next stops Collette's bar," Dan said moving to the window, "im telling you it's not safe. We need to leave, Acer will come here, and you don't want that. I know this was your home, but you have to let go, move on. Your family, they may be out there. Tomorrow, you can look for them. Maybe they have a safer place than here."
He continued to pace around the room as he talked. He stopped at the couch, leaning over it, his hands on the back. Today had been a big change for him. He went from being safe, though living a lie to telling the truth but being hunted. He was with better people, but did it matter if he was now a target. Acer would want answers, and he knew what the man would do to get them.
"Acer will want me dead. He will get someone to do it, maybe alive so he can torture me before I go. Gator bate will most likely be te outcome. He doesn't take well to traitors. Collette's bar will be safe for now, but he will look for me. If I stay hidden maybe he will move on but I doubt it. Acer is a bad man. I fear him, what he can do. What happened tonight, it painted a target on everyone's back. We are all in danger if we stay."
He heard a moan from the other room and readied his firepoker, rasing it up. He thought it was a walker at first, but the groan sounded human. "Who else is here," he asked, "are any of the cars outside drive able? We could take one, load it with supplies and whoever that is. Then we can go back to Collette's. It's better than here, even if it's just the one night. It's dangerous to be here alone."

Dan was ready to go right now, but she knew that would be foolish. Any number of factors could prevent them from getting back to Colette's place that she barely remembered how to get to. If Dan got here then he could clearly navigate his way around, but she didn't trust the dark. "I ain't gonna let that happen, Dan. I ain't gonna let this Acer get you."
She looked back over her shoulder as Simon groaned and she immediately felt Dan start to tense up.
"That guy, he's been shot. He got here while you and me were trapped at Tulane. I ...I don't even know if I can move him. Dan, this is dangerous to move out tonight. I have a SUV with supplies in it, but ...but I don't know.."
She was genuinely worried. How would they get out of here safely and how did he know they didn't already have rifles pointed at them. If they stayed the night, they could be ambushed. If they left, they could be attacked on the road and she couldn't guarantee the safety of Simon. She didn't like the guy already, but she was not about to put her relationship on the line with Luca without even trying.
"I know you wouldn't intentionaly let me or anyone get hurt, but this man is relentless. He'll keep coming, again and again. He won't stop till he gets what he wants. you may try to stop him, but it won't be easy. I don't want to see anyone else hurt because of that man. Your friend got it bad enough, and I've seen him do much worse."
Dan looked back at the room and at her. She was right, it was dangerous to travel at dark. The fire would have walkers pulled towards this way, as will the gun shots earlier. He didn't know tw exact route to Collette's, it had taken him forever to get here. Without lights they couldn't see anything. Plus there was that man to move, Dan had moved enough bodies today.
"We can stay, the one night. Acer most likely won't attack till morning. He has the fire to deal with, and won't move in the dark. Come mornig he'll have walkers to take care of, and by the time he gives everyone orders we can leave. If we leae early enough we can miss him." Dan looked around, "let's shut the door, lock it. We can keep the lights out and try and stay quiet. It might be all we can do now till morning."
Dan sat on the couch, moving the pillow beside him. He looked toward the door, and took he room with the shot man. "I assume the doctor fixed him up? I probably couslnt save him otherwise, if the shot was to deep or in the body. I'm not an actual doctor. My extent of my abilities cover limbs and shoulder wounds. The rest is just pretend fixing."

Remy was happy that Dan agreed to wait it out until morning. She wasn't sure they should take any more chances after the day's events. This was the second time in one day that her and Dan were holed up together and she was thankful they got along.
She went to a spare room and grabbed some extra pillows and coverings off the bed for her and Dan to use before locking the front door and pushing a dresser drawer in front of it to barricade themselves further. She made a little nest for herself on the floor when she came back into the living room, grabbing her bat and keeping it at her side.
"He was treated by Andrei, the doctor that was with my group. He should make it through the night. We'll just have to be careful moving him tomorrow."
As she laid down, she stared up at the ceiling and sighed as she spoke quietly.
"I appreciate you coming back to get me Dan. Maybe when all this shit settles down, you and me and get to know each other better. I have a feeling we have a lot to talk about."
She closed her eyes and started to feel herself drift off. The day was long and exhausting and her body desperately needed this rest. Every move she made was a struggle just to stay alive.
