"I've been drinking on and off since I was sixteen," he admitted with a gulp, "I had quit for a year before all of this and picked up again a year after all of this. Mostly light drinking at night."
The memories of his wife's brains covering the grass after she pulled the trigger gave him a shudder but he went on, "Like I said though two weeks ago I started drinking all day every day. This moment right here is my soberest friend."
The gun shots made him jump a little and his hand went for a gun that wasn't there, 'Damn everything was left outside,' he thought to himself. The doctor nor Nolan flinched after that, "What's going on around here? You people expecting a war or something? I can shoot. If I can get my rifle it has a great scope on it and I can shoot pretty far with it, grew up with guns and hunting."
Nolan smiled, his first real smile in two weeks, and he was proud of this smile because he could be a asset to this tribe.
"Well I'm not asking you to be a big pussy," Luca laughed a bit before going back to his pancakes. "Just, you know, don't go slamming peoples' faces into the ground, man." After finishing his pancakes, Luca looked over to Remy, who'd entered the room since he and Simon had begun speaking. He smiled, but said nothing.
"She and I are...we're...fuck, I don't know man--we're close." Luca laughed awkwardly, not knowing really how to answer Simon's question honestly. In part, he truly didn't. He and Remy had never had a genuine conversation about where they stood. Were they dating? How the hell did one date in today's world? Maybe when things settled down with this Acer shit, he and Remy could have that conversation. Maybe then. Maybe then.
"I got feelings for her Simon, and she does for me." Luca finally said, doing his best to appear confident.
Simon took quick note at Luca's lack of answer when he asked what was told to Remy about him. He said he was close to Remy and had feelings for her. That meant things were said and he was being honest with the girl, then she knew. If she knew and decided to stay with him, that meant one of two things. Either she accepted it and moved on, or she was like them. He couldn't get a read on the woman and that made him a little nervous. He put that mask back on and chuckled.
"You trying to give me a heart attack, Luca? Feelings for someone? That's a first. You sure you aren't just desperate to get laid?" He laughed as he said that looking at Holly who stood patiently across the room just staring at him. She was a weird girl.
He finished off his coffee and meal and placed his gun on the bartop. "Yea, alright. Hands off. I get it. But uh, looks like she's having a date across the room with that guy." He lifted his hand and pointed a thumb to Dan, who sat across from Remy having a quiet conversation. He watched her as she got up, moved across the room, grabbed a bottle of booze and two glasses before sitting back down. "And that date is about to get better it seems."
Holly finally pushed away from her seat and came over to him as he leaned back, lifting his shirt to check his wound. He was fine, at least he felt okay, and he didn't want to look like a wounded animal in front of all these people.
"I'm fine, really. I think everyone heals faster when snappers are coming at you, don't you think Red?" His eyes trailed down her shoulder and her backside as she looked at the wound but the moment was cut short as gunshots and a motorcycle were heard outside. "Looks like we have some work to do, Luca." He sat up, giving Holly a wink as he pulled his shirt down. "I promise you can get my shirt off later."
He didn't really know these people but if he was going to get a roof over his head, medical care and food in his belly, like Luca said, he would have to play along. Immediately he grabbed his gun on the bar and moved towards the door as another woman came in barking orders about lookouts and guards. He stayed safe with the protection of the door jam, giving himself wiggle room in case bullets started flying, but so far, he saw nothing. His eyes moved to the building across the street, down to a few cars that were abandoned in the street and towards the windows for stray shooters.

"We'll leave the shooting for another time. Now let's get you patched up." Andrei replied to Nolan. It was good the man was straight about his drinking habits and they didn't indicate towards liver issues. Before turning back to him, to start treatment, he called out for Holly.
"Holly, grab whoever Clayton assigned to help us and get in here. We've got work to do, it seems." Andrei would get busy preparing the tools until they arrived and could begin. He moistened a piece of cloth in alcohol and cleaned the area. It didn't do much, since it was already infected, but it prevented other bacteria going in. After cleaning, he moistened a clean part of the cloth and cleaned a rubber tube before passing it to Nolan.
"Since I can't give you anesthesia you'll need to bite down on this. You might have that reflex anyway when subjected to pain, and if you don't have something to bite down on you could shatter some of your teeth, and that's another problem. This...will hurt like hell. Holly, hold this tray right under the wound. And you-" he turned to Leigh Anne. "Watch carefully. He has a bullet wound that got infected due to improper care. Since it's open, it didn't form an abscess, which makes it a bit harder. I'll explain everything that's going on after we're done. Then I'll teach you the basics. Welcome to medical duty, kid." Once everything was in place he got ready to begin. As quick as he could, Andrei enlarged the wound left by the bullet and even more puss began pouring out and into the tray which Holly held. Andrei pressed on the surrounding tissue, to force all the puss to drain, followed by a quick rinse with hydrogen peroxide. Once the hissing and foaming died down, he took a pair of retractors and passed one to Holly, whilst he held the other in his left hand, a forceps being in his right.
"Now, I need you to pull on that side and I'll take care of this one. The bullet's probably still in there." In sync the both began pulling on the wound, and Andrei inserted the forceps quickly, and pulled out the bullet, though not without effort, bleeding and pain from Nolan. Once the bullet was out, he began unrolling a piece of bandage and inserting it inside the wound, with more hydrogen peroxide on top of it, until it was fully doused.
"And, we're done." he said removing the retractor and turning for some makeshift bandages to cover the wound. "This will need changing every day for about a week. Holly or I will take care of that. For now, go and meet the others in the bar."

Finishing up her inventory notes on the tools she found in the box, Candy left them more neatly organized than she found them. After closing the box, she notated what could be useful for her next deconstruction project. If she got a chance, she would ask to borrow what she needed.
She took a quick sweep around to note anything else that didn't naturally come with a hotel room. Not the only inhabitant's room she had inventoried over the last two weeks. Leaving James's room, Candy went on back down to the bar.
Holly was trying to check Simon's wound , but he really didn't see the need. He said he was alright and she didn't see any blood.
She heard shots, heard Colette and then heard Andrei calling her. Who had they assigned them? She looked at the list. Wait, was that even on the list? It was one of the young girls. Leigh. Holly looked at her," guess he wants you to watch, better come on." She went to Andrei and helped him with the wound in the drunk man's arm. When the puss started to run, she felt like she was going to be sick. The smell was foul! She gagged once and turned her head a bit. She didn't want Andrei to get upset with her, so she kept focused. When the bullet came out she pulled the small basin full of puss away. There was a trash can and she dropped it inside. The whole thing needed to be tossed , in her opinion. She glanced at Andrei," Colette's back and she wants to see you." Holly spoke calmly, but she needed to get away from the smell or she was gonna throw up.

Remy came out of Colette's office back into the main room where people were trying to figure out what was going on outside. She saw Simon was now at the door looking out with gun in hand. She was going to head to the bar, but instead pressed her hand against Luca's back as she sat down close to him.
"He wants us Luca. Acer. You and me." She didn't know why but suddenly she remembered the hunter she killed before he killed Clayton. She had to stop him or he would have killed the man that was now ready to throw James and Dan to the wind to save himself..at least for a short time.
"I don't know why, but it's possible Anthony does. He told Acer about us. We're not as safe as we think we are here. Colette says Acer is out for blood."
He could see the fear in her eyes, but he could also see the anger that was hidden behind the green. She had been through this before with Adolphus. She had run from him and that did nothing for the group. He hunted her like a dog and she had a strong feeling this Acer would do the same thing.
Claira came out of Colette's office and walked through the bar area. Everyone was talking, making plans. Discussing about what may happen with Acer and his men.She was worried a bit, but was a bit tired from all the running and from the food she ate. Walking to the her room on the top floor, where she sat on her bed. Looking at her AK, she was thinking to herself. Looking up and out the window. Claira looked around down below. "What are you planning Acer?" She said to herself out loud as she kept a watch from her room. Hearing footsteps, her eyes diverted from the window to the door.
Stepping out of the office, he heard the man inside with Colette I if she trusts Victor. Shaking his head a bit, he thought to himself. "I help bandage her arm and give her 5cc's of morphine and I'm not so trust worthy? I wonder how many of their people I've helped over the last two years." Shaking it off, he went into the bar area where everyone was gathered. Walking over to an empty table away from everyone, he sat down. Sliding his rifle off and placing it on top of the table. Setting his bag next to him, he took out his M-9. Taking the clip out and placing with the Scar H, he pulled back the slide making the round in the chamber to eject. Catching the bullet, he put them both down. Grabbing the rifle, he ejected its clip and took out it's live bullet. Taking out a rag from his back pocket which use to be a shirt sleeve from a previous shirt. Victor began to wipe the guns down, cleaning out the carbon build up in his firearms.
Looking through the receivers, and was satisfied with it he put the rounds back into the clips and slid them back in. Pulling the receivers back and letting go or flipping the switch, a round was fed into the chambers. Putting his side arm back into the holster, he looked at everyone who was around still. Getting back up, he put his rifle over his shoulder and walked over to Angle to hear her thoughts and ideas about a plan.
All his time, he'd just sat alone at the bar. He hadn't spoken to anyone that morning. He hadn't really moved at all since sitting down. The absence of his friend was huge right now, he wanted to forget about it, but he just couldn't, it kept playing on his mind. So much had happened during his time sitting alone, but he just felt so out of it that he didn't really want to react.
Then he heard gunshots. Aron shook his head, there was so much unnecessary conflict that needn't be there. Another person screamed, reinforcing the horrible situation they were in. He turned around, but didn't move off his stool, looking for answers from the others. Suddenly everyone began to appear, as Damon provided the answers. They'd taken Sam, he didn't really know her well but it was still a member of their group gone. Many questions went through his head. Was this just going to be one kidnapping after another? Who was going to be taken next? Colette returned, confirming it to be one of Acer's men and asked for men to get on the roofs and on guard, not specifically looking at him. He felt like one of the background guys again.
He got up and walked over to Clayton's note about everyone's roles, he had not yet looked. He saw himself as a runner on the list, he agreed, there wasn't really much else he saw himself doing, he was fast, may as well be a runner. Everyone around the bar seemed to be in their own groups, discussing their own plans. He spoke to himself. "Everyday, they're kidnapping someone and we're taking them back, back and forth, this can't keep going on." Something had to change. Aron stood back up from his stool, now up and ready to contribute.
After Ivy had led Regan and the woman most of the way through the woods before heading back leaving him alone to do the task that Acer had given him. It's either this or life in the woods again. There's a fucking mansion back there with a room just for him possibly. He's not passing it up. He's done worse, unthinkable acts that he can't come back from. Instead he just continued to embrace those acts as if he was always that kind of person. A merciless killer. He strongly believes that mercy kills more than the walkers do nowadays. So he throws the word away and does what he has to do to survive which is simple. Kill a pet as Acer put it.
The two reach the hotel parking lot as he scouts the area. Seeing things are clear of anything living, he tugs on the rope tied around the weak woman's wrists bringing her to a knee. He then begins to speak in a harsh whisper..."You don't say a word. We are walking up to the door in complete silence. You hear me? Nod your head." Hesitant out of obviously fearing the worst she finally nods her head while biting her tongue. Regan, tries not to make eye contact with her as she looks at him with pleading eyes. He doesn't want to remember her face. He can't, that'll break him. Even if it wouldn't break him, the chance that it would is still there and that scares the shit out of him. Without any further delay he takes a quick swig out of the liquor that Acer had given him before pulling her with him to the entrance.
Ducking under the windows before checking to see if the close is clear. He stays crouched with the woman on her knees trying her hardest not to make a sound. He shakes his head, clearing any regret before taking her by the back of her head and bringing her in front of the door. Making her kneel. "Don't say a word. I'm going to cut this rope off of you......and you'll be fr....free......" Believing his own fib for a second, he makes a disgusted face at himself as he looks at his reflection in the glass before pulling him machete out. Closing his eyes he can hear himself yelling through out his head to just fucking do it. With that, he opens up his eyes before pulling his arm back and with one clear slice, cutting straight through the woman's neck cutting her head off leaving it bouncing on the front step next to her body. He doesn't lay an eye on the scene as he runs off back towards Acer's all while drinking the rest of the bottle and lighting up a joint.
'Oh Jesus, some pain for real? This is pain beyond pain,' Nolan thought to himself as he fought hard from blacking out, 'And that smell, well jumping Betty Two-tits its foul!'
Then it was over and Nolan sat there catching his breath and sweating. Andrei invited him into the bar area to mingle but Nolan gave a goofy grin, "I'd love to social my game here, but can I get a place to change and clean up?"
Simon closed the door when he didn't see anything outside, but around the corner, some activity caught his attention. He saw two people leaving quickly from the side of the bar, at the entrance of the hotel. It was clear to him that they were not a part of the group that was holed up and he decided to investigate.
Moving around the corner with gun in hand, he was careful in his movements just in case there were others from Acer's group nearby. He used the wall for cover, sliding against it and peeking around quickly in case anyone was standing there. He saw a body on the ground and when he didn't see any further movement, he came around to see the body of a woman laying there.
"Hey, you okay?"
But as he got closer, he saw she was far from okay. Her head was was a few feet away.
"Damn. Shit just got real." Poor girl. He wondered what she did to deserve this.
"Hey Luca, you better come see this!" He called out from his stance around the corner, hoping Luca heard him. He knew he couldn't run after the pair that had suddenly taken off, but he got a quick look. It was a man in a hoodie and a woman dressed in black. Maybe someone in the group would recognize that description.

Angel walked over to a table and glanced around at everyone." Alright, I want everyone to pull up chairs. We need guards to take watch on the rooftops. Two here on top of the bar and two up top on the third level balconies." She waited a few seconds and glanced at Damon," he has a good idea, but we need Dan to give us an idea of where the guards are stationed and their rotations. Acer is through with playing fair and Colette has decided to take the fight to him, before he even expects it, tonight. We are gonna figure out who stays here and who is going to the mansion." She glanced at Victor," this is Victor, he's a medic and served in the military, he's going to help us ." She smiled at Victor," we have Remy and Dan who are going to help us make some fire bombs, I want us all to work together and hopefully, if we show him we aren't going to just roll over and give him a good blow, he will back off."
Just the. She heard someone yell for Luca. Angel stopped and looked at the door."Luca, Victor, go check that out."
Angel glanced around and realized Claira wasn't there. She looked at Dan," go ahead and start, I gotta run up and get Claira and find Des, they need to be in on this too." Angel walked off and headed up to Claira's room. She stopped and knocked on her door," hey, you wanna come down so we can get this plan going?"

Victor crossed his arms across his chest as he heard Angel's requests, what certain people were going to do. If only he had a map of where this Acer was, he could give some better ideas for a battle plan. Maybe have a person or two with rifles be snipers to either kill or make the guards take cover. When she introduced him, he raised one hand and waved slightly and said. "Hello everyone. I'll help you out to the best of my abilities. I'll fight up front with you. If you get inured, I'll patch you up." His eyes looked at everyone, and when they fell back onto Angel, he saw her smiling at him. The combat Medic smiled back at her. Thinking to himself, "She is gorgeous...wait...is she flirting? Nah, can't be. We are in the middle of a battle strategy, why would she flirt with me of all people?" The sounds of a person yelling out for a person named Luca was heard and the smile vanished. His instincts kicked in and was given the order along with the person named Luca to go check it out. "Aye." Was all that Victor said. He would move through the crowd of people with his gun aiming to the floor. He came up to a set of doors that lead to the side entrance, where the voice shouted from. Opening the doors quickly, he swung his rifle from side to side and checked the roof tops. When he saw it was all clear, he lowered his gun and walked over to the guy who might have yelled. But was forced to stop when he noticed a head laying in his path and a body a few feet from it. It was a rather thin female. Crouching down, he would begin to check over it. As he looked over her, he would begin to talk to himself.
"The female is about in her early to mid twenties. Malnourished badly. She would have been dead in a matter of days from the looks of it. Her head was severed by a straight edged blade. Either a sword or a Machete, and the person would have to have a good amount of strength to have made a cut this clean with one swing. To those wanting to ask about how I figure it was one swing and now repeated chops to the neck, it's simple. We all would have heard her scream if her attacker was butchering her outside here. But since there wasn't a scream of pain, it's only logical to conclude that it was a strong horizontal swing." His eyes looked up at the man he discovered the body. "Excuse me, did you find anything else when you arrived to the body? A weapon or a bloody piece of clothing? Anything you know could help greatly." Looking back down at the head, Victor would say quietly while he pulled out his dagger. "May the divine mother embrace you back into the circle of life my dear. Gaia, guide her home." After he was done, he plunged the dagger in through the temple of the head, stabbing the brain. With the brain now stabbed, the head wouldn't be able to come back as one of the headless, some how living walkers. It was odd that the head could survive for the walkers after it was cut for days. But it seems that damaging the brain was the only thing that killed them. Standing up, he looked back towards the guy and said. "Oh, I'm Lieutenant Victor Crowley, I'm here to help you guys out with your problem." His free hand was now held out to shake the other man's hand.
Then the knocking was heard from the door, and then she heard Angel's voice asking for her to come down to get the battle plan set and ready. Sighing to herself, she sat there for a moment remembering. Colette and Angel were the only two in the whole hotel that knew Claira's real name, Tanya, and the reason why she had a different name. To be honest, Tanya was starting to get feelings towards Angel ever since they started working together. It felt odd for her to be feeling like this since she didn't know if Angel swung that way or preferred to be with a man. Looking at the floor, she had to make up her choice sometime about confronting Angel about her feelings. Sighing again, she would begin to say to herself. "Shit shit shit! Get a grip Tanya...I got things to do. I can't just sit up here and sulk. UGH!" Tanya stood up and looked outside again, it was quiet after hearing someone shout out for Luca. Probably a walker or an Injured person seeking aid. She said back to Angel, not sounding the same. Her voice sounded like she was bummed out or depressed.
"Yeah Angel...I'll be down in a bit..." Thinking for a moment, she sat back down and took out her Skorpion. Looking down at her Machine pistol that sat in her hands, the thought of just offing herself did come across her mind a few times already. Again, she began to talk to herself. "Since father left...I've been always alone. Never having anyone close to me, to talk to about how I feel. *sigh* Maybe it's why I push myself so hard, to the point where I don't care if I die or not anymore. What do I have to lose? Not like anyone would care if I'm gone." Shaking her head a bit, a tear slid down her face as she tried her hardest not to cry.But slowly, she began to lose the battle as more tears slid down and she cried for a bit. Sniffing hard, she wiped her face of the tears that started to flow off her and put her gun away. Grabbing the AK-74U, she would walk over towards the door and was about to open it when she stopped to think. Reaching for the door handle, she opened it and looked outside her door ready to confront what she felt was behind it.
The car drove slowly up towards the hotel and they had one mission. Acer had given them the automatic rifles and the car to make sure the mission was accomplished. As they drove down the road, they passed Ivy and Regan. Looking through the windows the pair would see them dressed in black with their faces masked by ski masks. They were the unidentifiable. It was still another mile or so away and when they drove up to the intersection, they found a couple of people standing around a dead body that they didn't know had been left there by Regan and Ivy.
That's where they opened fire.
Gunshots rang out and started to punch off against the bricks at the top of the hotel and near the bar. They sprayed the place but had direct orders not to hit anyone. People were not going to be their target, only the building. Acer wanted them to know they had the fire power and were prepared to come and attack. The bullets flew for only a minute or so before the tires screeched and the hunters headed north, back towards the mansion, leaving only bullet holes, damaged brick and a few broken windows in their wake.

"Well, that's not exactly my job." Andrei replied to Nolan. "I think there should be an employee locker room or something like that on this floor, at the end of the hallway. You should be able to get changed and cleaned up until we find you a room to settle in. While you're cleaning yourself up, remember to keep the bandage dry." he began getting up and used the broom-crutch to stabilize himself when moving to the sink where he began cleaning up the equipment. Next to the towel rack they fashioned a crude drying rack for the tools. Keeping them clean would be fine for now, but they needed sterilization equipment soon.
"When treating an infected wound, you always clean it with hydrogen peroxide or iodine. Alcohol is a good disinfectant, but it isn't suited for lesions, since you need quite a big amount. You must remove the source of the infection or whatever is keeping the wound open, in this case the bullet, then put something normally called a mesh inside and leave the wound open. The mesh needs to be changed in 24 hours. Your body tries to fill abnormal cavities with fluid, at first, and the mesh absorbs the fluid and any other bacteria coming there will be stuck on it and be removed. If you close it from the start, you're only going to make it into an abscess which can't drain to the outside, which is worse. If you leave it too much, the bacteria will infect the blood. Blood is a prime medium for them. You get any of that?" during the speech he kept washing the instruments, and when he was done, Andrei looked at Leigh Anne. It was her he was mostly talking to. He'd take the time to answer any questions she had and then started making his way to Colette's office, not knowing that someone had already taken care of that. On the way, he explained how things stood to Leigh.
"I will teach you most of the practical skills I posses. First up will be the rules of proper treatment, then how to properly bandage and suture. After that, we'll get to the hard part. If you want to quit at any time, you can. I won't hold it against you. Now, for a lesson on how to differentiate between a fracture and a sprain without X-ray." he knocked on the door to Colette's office and began to move inside when a barrage of gunshots could be heard. Instinctively, he ducked. Once it was over and the car speeding away was heard, he got back up and listened carefully. Nobody yelled for his help. Either someone had the accuracy of a Stormtrooper, or these were intimidation tactics. Andrei stepped into Colette's office.
As he waited for the man before him to greet himself, a car slowly pulled up and a couple of weapons slid out of the Windows aiming. Shouting, "Everyone down!" Reaching forward, Victor grabbed Simon and pulled him towards the ground. The gunfire began to spray the building. Growling to himself, he lifted up his rifle aiming as the car began to peel their wheels. Popping three rounds was all he could do before the hotel concealed the car. Two of the three shots hit the rear of the car. Running around the corner, The combat medic aimed as the car was flooring it out of their. Holding the trigger down, making his Scar H assault rifle erupt in gunfire riddleing the back of the car in bullet holes and knocking out the back window. Once the car was now out of sight, Victor swapped clips and went back to the others on the side of the building. Checking them for wounds, he saw none of them were hit.
Running into the hotel, he ran into the bar area where a good amount of the gunfire was focused at. "Is everyone ok in here? If you were hit let me know. I'll have to start working on you as soon as possible." Slinging his rifle over his shoulder, he began to check everyone for any injuries. Thinking to himself, "Where's their doctor? He should be in here like me checking for injuries. If this was the one giving them problems, then it's going to be a full scale war now." Looking at the walls, he saw all the entry points and where some were stopped. Shaking his head, he kept doing what he was trained for.
Dan had left Collette's office. He retreated upstairs to his lab where he grabbed the map he had made of Acer's for Luca and Dallas the weeks before. He quickly rolled it up, grabbing a few more pieces of paper and clombed back down stairs.
In the bar he unrolled the paper, laying it out flat on a table Angel had cleared. He made didn't know who was supposed to listen so he just spoke.
"It's three stories, with a few entrances, but the main entrance leads to an open foyer. Through double doors it leads to another hallway that breaks off into the kitchen, dining room and storage area to the left. Straight ahead is the backyard and to the right to a den, which was used as library or an office at one point in time. immediately off to the right of the foyer is a formal living room with piano and a grand staircase that leads to the upper floors. On the upper floors are bedrooms and bathrooms, along with what once used to be my lab. Sam would either be in the den, or in the upper bedrooms.
Behind the mansion is a large, overgrown yard, about quarter acre with a large concrete wall behind it. On top of that is razor wire. There is a burned out house to the right, thanks to Aaron, and another mansion to the left. Metal fences cover the front and side, spikes on either side. The gate is usually locked, so we will need to bring down the fence or the gate to get in. Ramming it with a truck should do the trick, just a padlock and chain locking it.
Guards change every morning and night. Always eight men on at all times. Two on the roof, two on the second story balcony, and four in the courtyard. The back would be clear, along with the far left sided. He shouldn't have changed the schedule or number of guards, but it's possible. The guards alternate who's on shift, so it's not always the same eight each day. Because of this I don't know what one's we will be up against."
Just as he finished he heard gun fire errupt. Dan immediatly ducked down, and tried to get out of the line of fire. He didn't know where they were coming from, but he knew one thing, it was Acer.
Dan moved back. "We need to act now. Gather all the weapons, I'll go find Remy to make the explosives and moltovs. We can't wait for tonight, we need to strike now."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
