Yuri entered the camp with a troubled face. Sure, Mac's daughter was here, but others were new to their group and, at this moment in time, probably the entire camp except from Mac's daughter was a possible threat to Yuri. He first entered to see Carter, one of the new guys they had picked up just before Texas, looking around taking pictures. He gave a chuckle and shook his head, walking up to the man.
"You a photographer or something?" he asked with a slight smile. Yuri's eyes met his camera first, why did he need that in an apocalypse? He then looked at the big shotgun slung around the man's back, big weapon, bigger damage. He took a deep breath and looked back towards the man. "You were the one that Remy picked up on her journeys, right?". The man, at first impressions like back at the motel, seemed rather anti-social and a bit quiet. "Anyways, I suppose I never formally introduced myself back in Texas, I'm Yuri, your friendly neighbourhood Russian" he said jokingly.
Nate pulled his hand away. He didn't mind Hykeem cutting him off, he asked a good question. "Hykeems right. How did a whole group of people not notice you following them all the since texas? Didn't they see you're car? It's not like there's many vehicles out there on the road anymore," he said eyeing her, watching he movements.
He put all his weight on his good leg and began to rub just over his sore knee. This woman could be trouble, if she was skilled enough to follow a whole group unseen, in time where cars were something you don't see every day, she was probably lying about working at a theatre.
"So you don't even have anyone to vouch for you? What skills would you bring to the table," he asked standing up straighter. He didn't really care is she didn't have skills or anything that made her stand out. As long as she didn't endanger him, or anyone's safety here, she should be allowed to stay. If she pulled her own weight then she had a right to be here. But ultimately that was up to the council, he would have no say in the matter.
"I still thinks it's strange you were able to follow them all the way, and didn't even make a point to make yourself seen or heard."
Rochelle nervously brought a hand to the back of her neck, pushing out more reddish blonde curls away from her head as her fingers tangled in. She was being questioned by both men about how she went undetected for so long behind the caravan. Honestly, she wasn't even sure.
"I don't know, I mean, I just kept my distance. Lights off at night, just following the tail lights as best I could. When they stopped, I stayed on the highway and just waited for them to get back on. I was behind that beemer driven by the blonde. She didn't seem to pay much mind to me if she saw me at all."
She shrugged and pulled her hand out of her hair as she looked between the pair.
"I'm good with a hammer and nails and know a thing or two about car engines. I can put walls up or tear them down. My shot isn't that good, but I've hit a few walkers in my time. What I was hoping for is a little bit of sleep. My eye sight is pretty damn good so if they need me on night watch or anything...ya know."
"If you ask me it sounds like you are more valuable than not but like Nate said its not our choice. Hopefully the council over the next few days will see that you will benefit this settlement."
A seriousness had kicked in to Hykeem about mid sentence and it made him sound a bit tough. He continued to carefully watch Rochelle and he would probably never stop. He had seen a lot of shit in the world those days but beautiful didn't really walk into you all the time. After examining he turned to Nate.
"Well Nate we have to finish this tour. I'll catch you later pal."

"I'll catch you two around then," Nate said giving one last smile. "I'd come with you on the tour, I just don't really want to hop around right now." he started to walk back to where he had been before. He knew this woman couldn't cause trouble at the momnet, that Hykeem would end her before she could.
He quickly spun around towards them, "maybe you should take her to the shop, if you haven't already. She seeme to have interest there," he said looking the pair. "A tour of the walls and the towers might be beneficial as well."
He stopped and looked at Rochelle, "if you wanted to sleep the living area is behind me. I'm sure there's an open cot somewhere. Do you know if the leader of the group you came with has spoken to te council yet? They may have already assigned a place you could rest."

After finishing his discussion with Ellen, Andrei felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning around to see the source, he noticed a woman probably in her late 20s, with brown hair and green eyes. She was at the desk in the medbay, mostly taking notes on what the doctor said. She introduced herself as Mia.
"Pleasure to meet you, Mia. I'm Andrei." he said with a smile while shaking her hand. "Regarding the doctor thing, it's a bit more complicated. I had one more year until I got my degree. However, I have been trained in most of the separate specialities of medicine. Where I come from we spend about 3-4 years doing...let's say internships in all the fields of medicine and then become residents in one of our choosing. I still had a few things to do like neurosurgery, pediatrics, psychiatry and a few others. In short: no, I am not officially a doctor, but I am professionally trained in most fields of medicine, and have spent, in the last 5 years, about half of my time in hospitals working with patients. I do hope that clears most things up." Andrei had finished explaining in short what Mia wanted to know, and began making his way towards the ambulance, gesturing for her to follow him. "Hope you don't mind if I ask to help me a bit. We've brought some medical supplies, and I'd like to get them into the medbay and organized as soon as possible." When they reached the ambulance, he opened the back doors and began putting the supplies closer to the entrance.
"Oh, but first-" He removed the satchel with first aid supplies from his belt and spilled its contents on the stretcher. A stethoscope, some surgical tools, 2 vials, a syringe and a few bandages. Andrei began reorganizing the things inside the bag and adding a few more to top it off and put it back in its place on his belt. "I like to have this as fully stocked as possible in case of an emergency."
The medical inspection hadn't been anything too invasive. Basic stuff, and Anthony understood its importance. He never thought he'd have anything like a medical examination again--and before the outbreak, he'd hated the damn things. Waste of time. But now he was on the verge of laughing out of pure joy--a medical examination! A last vestige of a world long dead. Procedure, operations, order. Anthony could not keep himself from beaming. This place certainly had it together.
"This is it, I know it," Anthony muttered to himself under his breath. "A real chance, here." Of course, he wished the girls were here. And Tala. And Mark. And Ash. And Baldr. And Michael. And that woman Lilly back at the mansion. And WIlkson. And Emily. And Henry. And part of him wished that men like the Reverend, Jeff, and Adolphus hadn't been forced into their roles in this new world--and they could be here, too. All of them. Just people, together.
But that wasn't reality. It couldn't be. Anthony's smile faded at the realization, but only momentarily. That reality was over, and here was something new.

As Carter took the photos, a man's voice came from behind him causing him to jump. Carter glanced at the camera he was holding then to the man who spoke to him. He was part of the group from Miami, he had heard the name Yuri a lot directed at him so he guessed it was him. "No, I-I was just... I didn't mean to do... I-" Carter stuttered repeatedly when he spoke to the man. He took a deep breath and cleared his mind, he then spoke again. "Yeah, I'm a photographer". Carter immediately after speaking out away his camera as people might think he was acting suspicious. "Yeah, I met Remy at the Miami Hospital with some other people, but... I'm the only one left". Carter was saddened slightly by the loss of other survivors, but quickly reassured Yuri that he was alright. He then introduced himself, confirming Carter's thoughts on the man's name. "I'm Carter... Carter Stokes, nice to meet ya".

Remy passed by the walls and approached Nate, Hykeem and Rochelle. She watched as Nate walked away with a bit of a limp in her direction and she smirked.
"Probably a bad idea to be walking around on that bad leg." She offered Rochelle and Hykeem a nod as she passed them by, heading back to the Beemer. She wanted to collect all the lab equipment and supplies out of the trunk and go through what they had collected.
This time, she would make sure Andrei got the keys to the car when she was done. She hoisted the backpacks out of the trunk of the car, slinging them over her shoulders to take back to the living quarters to go through everything. Slamming the trunk shut, she passed Andrei and tucked the keys to the car in the front pocket of his pants and smiled at Mai as spoke. "Nice ride. You can have it back."
Heading back to the living quarters she searched for the bed where she camped out and set everything back down again. The bed was a bit squeaky, but that was okay. It was the most luxury she had in quite some time. She was used to far worse conditions. One by one she pulled things out, laying them across the bed, stacking up the supplies and grouping them together. She was on her own here even though she was in the larger group. She would have to figure out how to work.
Rochelle perked up as Nate mentioned the cots in the living area. That sounded just fine for her and she could honestly just lay down on the ground outside and close her eyes. She was already starting to feel welcomed at this complex. These strangers weren't so bad after all but she would have to stay alert and pay attention to what they were up to.
"Thanks, that's awful kind of you."
Turning back to Hykeem now she shrugged as Nate limped off.
"I'm not sure really. It looks like his daughter runs things around here. The girl with the dark hair that was already here. Not sure he'll even need to be seen by some council. But I'm willing to talk if they want to see me. I'll tell them what I can about what I can do."
As he spoke to Carter, he jumped and began mumbling and stuttering to which Yuri gave a chuckle. "Slow down, Jesus christ" he said with a shake of his head. "Sorry for making you jump, man". He watched the man finally answer Yuri's question. "I thought so, you look the photographer type". Yuri watched as he put away his camera and spoke about him being picked up by Remy with a few others, Yuri gave an understanding nod towards Carter. Yuri stuck a hand out at the man gesturing for a handshake along with their introduction. "It's nice to finally, officially meet you, Carter". He gave a smile, but quickly changed when Yuri looked back at the others. "You know, you don't have to always be on your own, you can come join us over there instead of being over here".
Mia stared at him while he explained. So he was a med student, got it. She smiled at him and followed. As he filled the bag,"I'm sure you've had to deal with a lot." She frowned as she moved forward to help him carry stuff back to the tent. "I was lucky,I guess,I found this place early on." She stared into the back of the ambulance,"where did you guys get all this stuff?" They seemed to have quite a bit of supplies in here.
As the blonde approached she fell silent. She raised a brow as the woman shoved keys in his pocket. Mia smiled at her smile and shifted the box in her arms, then moved off towards the tent. "So...this is the med tent." She shrugged as she sat down the box. "Doc's probably in the back." She glanced at Andrei," we do a rotation, sort of,I can handle most things, stitches and the like, but the big stuff falls on her. So another set of hands will be great." She started to empty the box and moved around placing the items where they belonged." We set up like a triage unit, for the most part." This way he should be able to find stuff quickly,if he remembered the set up.
Mac had started both his daughters along with some of Ellen's guards to start unloading the weapons he took from the CIA safehouse to the armored Chevrolet Suburban. The weapons the guards were carrying were very outdated and he figured perhaps Ellen could give the better guns to the more talented shooters in her guard.
As they were unloading, he decided to go check on Remy. Her request to start some scientific work got turned down flat for the moment by his oldest daughter; and even though Ellen had been polite and courteous in her answer, it had seemed like Remy didn't take it so well so it was time for the group's leader to have a talk with her to maybe alleviate some of her worries.
He found Remy unloading her stuff in the living quarters, and rather than to approach the situation in his usual serious manner, he figured perhaps some humor might be in order. Remy had been far too serious, and she should've been, but right now they were safe and they could drop their guard for a time. Holding his hands folded behind his back, Mac walked up to Remy casually.
"Well, you didn't think it was going to be that easy did you?" Mac said. "She's my kid after all..."

Remy gently stacked the delicate glass slides on top of each other, counting each one. She knew once samples touched the glass they would be contaminated in her endeavor to discovery. The petri dishes were clean and sealed and ready to be used, although Ellen had forbade it. She had already started coming up with a plan on what she was going to do about that, but it would take time and patience. She didn't look up as Logan wandered over to her while she was carefully categorizing the lab equipment. She needed and wanted more, but without knowing anything about her surroundings, she would have to put up with what she had and be careful about it.
"I get that. I respect it. I'm a stranger here."
There was already too much on her mind since Luca made his confession. She couldn't say anything though. This was a secret he wrapped around her neck but she also knew that time would tell. It was quite possible Luca would slip up and reveal his past on his own. On the drive alone to Colorado, her mind went over the scenario over and over again. Why did he make his confession to her? She didn't know if he wanted her to help him or hate him. The one thing she did know was that she was spending far too much time thinking about Luca.
She looked up to Logan who still seemed to be standing over her as she kept her stern countenance about her.
"I never did thank you for bringing me here. I appreciate it."
Mac smiled at the thought of being a stranger. Sure, they were going to have to adapt to being with a lot of people again. But at least he knew his group, and considering Ellen was pretty much in charge here, he'd get to know more people along the way as well.
But he had some genuine concerns about Ellen as well. She was doing well for herself within the camp and was apparently respected by an awful lot of people, but he knew she hadn't been in the position yet where she had to make tough decisions for the greater good. Her reluctancy to condone Remy's request for experiments proved it all the more. Still, he didn't blame her for it as he didn't really want her to make that kind of decision. In that aspect, Ellen was like her mother; if she'd have to make such a decision and came to regret it, she'd do it for a lifetime. Which was another reason Mac came to talk to Remy.
"Don't mention it." Mac answered to Remy's gratitude. "This has been my destination all along. Just uhh... do me a favor willya? When you present your case to their Council, please don't let it become Ellen's final decision to make. I know she's my daughter and maybe you're expecting her to get permission and all because of that but..."
Mac paused for a second. He thought about making sure it didn't seem like his group got favorited because of Ellen, and letting her catch hell for it. She could've been in trouble already for letting his group keep their weapons.
"Look, she's not like me in that aspect you know?" Mac continued. "I've learned to make tough decisions and live them down instead of regretting them. But Ellen... she was always the strongest of my children but if something were to go wrong with your experiments, and people were to get injured or killed because of them; she'd regret it forever. She's... much like her mother in that way. I just don't want my child to have to make decisions like that."

Remy's expression changed the more Logan spoke. She wasn't even sure if she was going to take this before the council when their conversation first started and now his words confirmed that she would not. Her face turned from passive listener to a woman who had just been scorned by a cheating lover.
"Is that what you think? That I'll put people in danger with my experiments?"
She rose off the bed now as everything seemed to be aligned in order now, hands her hips as her brow knitted tightly. The more she thought about it, the more pissed off she got.
"You think I'm that reckless? Is that what all ya'll think? That I'm trying to find the most dangerous way to do this? Ya'll think this is my first time doing a science experiment like I'm back in seventh grade?"
If Logan had half a mind he would just keep quiet and let her go off. Her explosions were usually short and to the point and forgotten about fairly quickly. But this was different. She was questioned at the farm in California. She was exploded on at the mansion in Miami and now she was being questioned again about the safety of what she was about to do here.
"Just forget it Logan. Forget I brought it up, Ain't no one in danger here." She turned and walked away from him, the living quarters and the equipment that she would meticulously pack back up again. It was the one thing she could contribute and every where she went, she was shunned for it. She was clenching her jaw so tightly her teeth started to ache as she wrapped her arms around her, hugging the warm jacket tightly around her body and swiftly finding a place where she could cool her jets.
Mac facepalmed. He was just being a father and looking out for his oldest daughter. He had some idea of what research into pandemics were about; and figured it would involve taking live tissue from walkers, and definitely handling strains of the virus of whatever had caused the outbreak. That's where in his eyes the risks laid. And he wasn't about to be misunderstood or be told off just because he didn't want his daughter to have blood on her hands in case Remy's experiments were to go south.
Was he an 'at all costs'-kind of guy? Yes, as a CIA-operative he had been ruthless in that way because it didn't involve his family and they didn't have an idea of what he did as a Company-man. So in normal circumstances he would've approved this kind of experiments. But when the government went, so did his CIA-status. He had been a father looking for his missing children ever since. And now that he had found them, he was a father looking out for his children. He took off the proverbial gloves and went after Remy to give her a piece of his mind.
"Don't you fucking storm off like that you hear?" Mac said. "You know damn well what the risks are when experimenting with strains of viruses and the like. And unlike before, you don't have the containment facilities to do such a thing or contingency plans in case something goes wrong. And I'll be damned to have my daughter strung up by these folks if you screw up just because she had to approve your damn experiments!"
Mac took a few steps toward the exit of the tent and pointed at it.
"See those people out there?" Mac asked. "There's 211 of them in this camp, and there's our group. Are you willing to endanger those you know, and others you might get to know in an attempt to cure whatever this shit is? And think before you answer that question, because if you make such a decision it is not something you can come back from. You live it down, no matter what."
Mac spoke of course out of experience. Having to kill a hundred to save a thousand; it happened almost every day with the CIA.
"Now I have made that kind of call, and I learned to live such a thing down." Mac continued. "And perhaps you have too or you know you can live it down. But I merely ask that you don't put Ellen in that position where she'll be to blame as well in case you fuck up. And as a father, I won't let that happen. Now you think about that, you hear!?"
"You can do that but let us finish the tour first."
He then continued, walking past the big military tent and towards the greenhouse. He walked until the entrance was right in front of him and then stopped.
"This here is where the garden is. Its kinda a big garden but. You understand what I'm getting at."
Hykeem could barely get the words from his mouth.
"They grow different things in their. And the other way in the breeding area. But of course last but no least there's and armory over there. Only the guards and QRF can go in there."
Hykeems's eyes began to water and he didn't know what was going on.
Bear Creek Colorado, Lex had never even heard of this place before... but the last encampment seemed to think this place had clean water and was safe from the walkers. Not to mention supplies. This was worth looking into, or so they had thought. Lex never stayed in one place for too long, and so slipped out of the encampment with what supplies he could get, and the only horse they had. Sure, he was leaving them all behind, but it wasn't the first time. Sadly, the horse hadn't made the long journey and so Lex found himself on foot Not that it mattered, he was armed well enough with a good deal of the food supplies in his backpack. He knew what he was doing. And so, he kept walking in the snow. A leather jacket to keep him warm, some finger-less gloves and a sailors cap. It kept his ears warm at least. For now, there were no signs of life, not that he was looking for any, but two weeks out in the open, he'd welcome a bath.
The damned snow annoyed Veran more then he liked but he had heard word of a settlement up this way and after a couple months on his own again he was ready for some human interaction. Not ta mention his pack was getting a bit light and he hadn't had a good drink in days. Maybe these lubbers had some grog they'd be willin to share. Trudging through the snow he saw a set of footprints cross his path. They didn't look like walker prints so he figured he was safe enough. So long as he saw the other person before they saw him.
