The gunshots were loud and the only thing she heard above the din of light breeze that fluttered leaves down the street. She blinked and followed the sounds of the shots.
"Paul, come on!" Clearly the pair needed help behind the building and she wondered how they got themselves into this mess. How could they have attracted such a horde. She saw a few more biters coming from behind a building and with two shots, she easily took them out, dropping them with head shots.
There were a lot of biters already gathered, too many for Amber and Tyler to handle and the shots she fired already attracted the attention of some of them. Tyler was the one that had the belts of bullets and he would be the key to getting them out of there. Instead of questioning them now about what happened, she would come up with a plan of action then worry about that when they got into the car.
"Tyler! I'm going to clear a path for you to get out of there, then you need to start firing. Get them away and we can run!"
As soon as she said that, she started firing at those that were coming at her then those on Tyler's side of the dumpster.

Amber heard the shots behind her and looked briefly at who was there. Once she saw it was Bethany and Paul she turned back to resume firing. Tyler stabbed more zombies beside her as Bethany squeaked out an order.
Amber loaded another clip. "It won't work," she said firing again. "There's to many for the reload time of a double barrel. Even if you were to fire a clear path it's to risky. I need to keep the ones off of me, and you don't have enough bullets to clear a path for Tyler."
Tyler nodded beaide as Paul started firing his gun. "She be right," Tyler said, "I ain't dieing in an alley."
Amber kept firing, she was getting low herself. "Tyler if you can get up and over the fence I'll we'll cover you. Once you're over fire with them till I'm over. It should be safer."
Tyler nodded once again. "I'll change you spots. You take the shotgun, I'll take the rifel. Once you're over cover me. I'm betyer up close, you know that."
"Fair enough. Bethany Paul, you cover us," she said grabbing the shotgun from the side as Tyler gripped the Rifel to fire.
She turned and wisted, knocking a close walker in the head with her stock.
"That works with me," Paul said firing again, missing only a few of his shots. "I only have two clips anyway."
Bethany did her best to keep them covered and it seemed they wanted Tyler to get over the fence. She shot a few more and wondered how the hell they got themselves in this predicament. She had a strong feeling someone was going to die today and it damn well wasn't going to be her. She had a good mind to shoot one of them in the gut and leave them to the walkers so the rest could get away. But who would it be and had she really become this cruel? If things got worse, that would be the plan.
"What the hell did you all do to attract this many? Were you not paying attention?"

Amber quickly put her boot in the fence. She climbed over as quickly as she could, the sound of gunfire behind her. It didn't take long before she was at the top. Swinging over she dropped down pulling the gun. Aiming it she fired at a walker. She never liked shotguns, they were to far of a spread and unpredictable.
"Keep them off of him," she said loading two more shells. "Hurry as fast you can."
Tyler went next, climbing over. His boots rattled the fence, as he went over. The walkers pressed against the fence behind him, clawing and trying to drag him down. He dropped down on the other side, looking at Amber and Bethany. "Alright let's go." His pants were torn from where he snagged his jeans on the fence, and he quickly undid the bandanna around his arm to tie off around his leg.
Amber heard Bethany speak but didn't answer. The walkers were pushing up agaisnt the chain link fence, like going through a strainer. "Let's get out of here first."
She paced to the car, Tyler following behind. Once inside she she closed the door and started it up. Once they all were in she pulled out, heading down the road. She made sure she was clear of the town before she spoke.
"We didn't atract them. They were already there. We opened the door in the pharmacy, and walkers poured out. We made our way out side to the alley only to find the hoarde already there. With walkers behind us, and to the right, we went left. Only to find a dead end."
Bethany pulled Paul along as they got over the fence, although she had no idea how. There were so many and many more were coming due to the gunfire. Like moths drawn to the light -- the more they killed, the more seemed to come. "Come on Paul! Come on!" Tyler was snagged by the fence and she saw the wound that opened. Once Amber and Tyler were over, she took another chance to fire off a few more shots, but it was futile trying to take the horde down.
They had to run and that's just what they did. The car was close as they hopped in and Amber started up the engine quickly. If it were her running from a horde, she wasn't so sure she would get those keys out so easily. She would probably bumble and stumble her way to starting up the car.
But once they were on the road, her heart was still racing, as were the hearts of the others and she sat up when Amber spoke about opening the doors and letting the biters flood out.
"What? You didn't knock or make noise first to see if there were any in there?" Shaking her head, she leaned back in her seat, looking out the window angrily. "You're supposed to assess your environment, then your enemy first. We don't just waltz into buildings and hope for the best. You should have assumed there were biters in there. The both of you should have known better. Now that you let all the walkers out, someone else is going to go in and clean out that pharmacy."
She shook her head and kept her gaze staring out the window. She had nothing else to say to these people and she was going to make damn sure, next time she was sent on a mission, that she was going to go alone.

"They were in a staff room, locked up. We didn't think anything of it. After jiggling the handle there was no noise. The rest was clear just that room. We pulled the doors open and they rushed out. It happened, it's over," Amber said gripping the wheel tighter. "We can go back if you want, see if the staff room still has something. The rest already mostly cleared."
Amber pulled the rest of her bag off, tossing it at Bethany. "This work for you," she asked glaring. The bag was filled with various meds, bottles, pills stuffed in bags. It had boxes, gauze, quite a bit of everything they would need for a while.
"It was a mistake, get over it." She let out a long breath. "Now what did you find?"
Beth knew something was missing in that story and she looked to Tyler, who remained oddly silent about it all. Paul didn't really care as he seemed to be happy just to get out of there in time with everyone in tact. That's what mattered the most, but next time, she would go on her own. She knew it was smarter that way. When Amber threw the bag into the back, she opened it and saw all the drugs inside.
"Just remember who got your ass out of there." She looked at Paul whose eyes widened and he shook his head like he wanted no part of this.
"We didn't find shit. Some toilet paper and a rat infested box of twinkies. I grabbed the toilet paper but there wasn't anything there. Already cleaned out." She would remain silent until they got back to the farm. Hopefully she could go back on perimeter patrol.

"Fine, we were having sex," Tyler said looking over and seeing she Bethay wasn't convinced. "We were going to move to the staff room, you know couches, a table, sonething. We pulled the door open while busy doing other things, to hot and bothered to think straight. It was filled with walkers."
"Tyler enough," Amber said glaring, "we fucked up okay, end of story."
"She just wasn't believing it. Not like we have anything to hide. We barely made it out, let's just be grateful. Didn't even get any either."
"So there you have it. We're grateful, trust me we are. Thank you. You saved our ass, and we appreciate it."
Amber kept her hand on the wheel, now no stopping till they were home. "Sucks you didn't find anything. We are running of of places to loot. We didn't expect the gas station to be filled, Max had been there once. If the walkers clear up the grocery store might w a good stop one day."
