Colette would see that he was armed as he always was. But this time, his shot gun was on his back and as he approached, he shot his hands up to show he wasn't aiming a gun at her. He got a little closer, but kept his distance. He knew the rules when it came to Colette...hands off. He could see why Acer would want a piece of her. She had a dark beauty to her that seemed to hypnotize his boss. He stared for a second, looking at her lips until he finally snapped out of it.
"Your boy Clayton, he may have been hurt." He stayed where he was, lowering his arms and holding the motorcycle helmet under one arm. She could easily take him out if she wanted to, but that would violate the terms. They both knew it. He looked over his shoulder as smoke billowed out some broken windows in the warehouse.
"Hunters. From our group. They attacked the people in here and it looks like Clayton may have been one. They weren't ordered to though. That wasn't the plan."
He shifted his weight to the other leg and looked back at her. "Acer wanted you to know that. Clayton must have interfered and he may be hurt. He wasn't in the pile of dead back there so I can only assume he's here. I saw him with some people. A black girl, a blonde and the doctor."

The wound was pretty bad. The bullet lodged itself in the 8th rib, left side. He couldn't properly asses the damage, but the rib was probably broken, and some bone splinters in the surrounding tissue. Whether she had anything collecting between the pleura's layers, be it air or blood, was unknown to him, at the moment. She seemed to be breathing fine. He got to work removing the bullet when Holly came in, passing a chair and asking Andrei to sit.
"Thanks!" he said to her, but rested the injured leg on the chair, working away. Holly said she could follow instructions, and that was true, but Andrei didn't think her ready yet for this. "Get some rags and gauze. Use this." he handed her a spare forceps. "Soak up some of the blood, we got work to do." with that, he pulled out the bullet and just threw it on the floor, and began checking the area, for bone fragments. "When bullets hit bones" he began "They can produce a fracture, but they always force pieces of bone, splinters, into the surrounding tissue." He searched, with Holly clearing up the blood. A few pieces were found, and he was certain there would be more. But there was no time. Once the cleaning was finished, he pulled out the stethoscope, listening to the woman's breathing. It sounded ok, for now. "Stitch her up and put a bandage over there with some tape all over. We don't want any air going through."
Daemon came inside, saying that Sam asked for Holly, and left quickly, taking the weapons with him. Andrei was moving to see the damage to Clay's shoulder. Muscular only. He could be stitched or cauterized, but that wound still needed cleaning. Covering under the wound with a rag, he took out a small flask with a straw on the end from the first aid kit. The label read H2O2. He inserted the straw into the wound and began pouring. The liquid quickly foamed and hissed, giving Clay a pretty nasty burning feeling.
"You'll be fine. A few stitches and you'll be good to go. Is she ready, Holly? We should go, those walkers seemed to be closing in."
Colette watched his hands the whole time, not letting him get close enough that he could grab her gun. She noticed how he was staring at her, and smirked a bit. She licked her lips, listening to him. Colette had seen Clayton, when he came in to get the doc, and he had been fine. If he had been injured, it would have been after that. She didn't like the idea of her man being injured, but this gave her an edge. Acer had sent Rollin to make sure Colette wasn't pissed, so she knew it was a mistake and their deal was still holding." So, I'm just supposed to believe it was an accident, that your men made a mistake when they shot him?" She canted her head a bit," and if my man dies, what then? I just get an apology and that's it? Fuck that, Rollin, go back to your warden and you make sure he knows that I don't believe a word. He sent Jackson here, how fucking stupid does he think I am?" She glared at him," he wants to talk to me, he best come himself!" Colette pumped the shot gun," I suggest you get moving."
Holly stayed focused. She did exactly what Andrei told her to do. She listened to him, his instructions to her. Her hands were steady, from years of playing video games, go figure. She glanced up as he went over to the other man , but kept her hands going. She finished up with the woman, bandaged the wound and used enough tape so no air would gain entrance." Yeah, she's done, should I do his shoulder now?" Holly moved over to Clayton and started to open a new suture kit. She glanced at Andrei's leg," what about your leg, you can't stay like that for long." Her eyes locked on his, as she waited for instructions. Go? Go where? She had to get Sam if they were still planning to leave. He spoke about the walkers that had followed them. She had seen them approaching as she made a run for this building. " Sam's in the other building." She reminded Andrei about her, since they both had told Damon they would watch her and help him with her.
Rollin took note of her lip licking and assumed that Acer was drawn into her wiles. Acer had a soft spot for this woman and although he could understand why, he believed Acer was a bit blinded by it. He chuckled as he looked down at his feet, shaking his head.
"Look princess, not everyone knows who all your boyfriends are. We had a mission to do something and he interferred. It's his own damn fault if he got hurt. He should have just left it alone." Of course, he would not tell her what that mission was, but at least he had answers. Liam was dead, James was still alive. That was valuable information. When she aimed the shotgun and cocked it, he put his hands up again and tilted his head as he took a few steps back.
"What's that saying? Don't shoot the messenger? I'll take him your message."
Without saying another word, he turned and headed back to where his bike was. The smoke was billowing from the building where the bodies were burning, a thick, choking black smoke that would soon turn while as the bodies turned to ash. She would hear the bike start up in the distance as he left to go find Acer and fill him in on everything.
Trying to relax in the chair while the thoughts wandered off, he heard the distant sound of Remy speak behind him as she washed her hands clean of blood. She asked what he was doing there in the first place, what kind of profession he had before the outbreak. He knew it was her way of keeping him entertained, as she didn`t seem sure whether she should leave him alone or not. However he was glad she stayed, and that she kept him talking. The grief felt like a knife stabbing at his heart, and the decisions he had made was something he would have to live with for the rest of his life.
In response to her words, he answered humbly. “Hmm…well, I`m carpenter by trade. I moved to New Orleans in hope of rebuilding the city after its recent hurricane disaster, which proved to be a smart decision on my part. It gave me the chance to put a smile on people`s face, as well earn a bit of coin.” He smiled faintly and thought back on those days, remembering how good he used to have it, and how some were thankful for his assistance. If he had known the apocalypse would one day come in the form of virus, maybe he could have helped the people prepare better, not just for natural disasters that were a common reoccurrence in the world.
Turning around, James glanced at Remy who had her back turned at him. “And what about you? What did you do before the apocalypse?” He asked curiously, wanting to know what she had done before it all went down. She seemed capable of handling herself, but she hadn`t given him the slightest hint of what her profession could be. The world could change a person to the better or worse, and how it might have changed her, he didn`t know. Just as he had said that, he could hear the faint sound of a motorcycle. Where did that come from? Was someone driving around nearby?

Remy came out of the kitchen wiping her hands using a dry dish rag when movement from one of the bedrooms caught her eye. Someone was laying in the bed and rolled over. She saw a bit of blood, following the trail from the table to the room and she put two and two together. That must be Simon, the guy who was shot. The cop. The bad influence. She grit her teeth for a moment, clenching her jaw before looking back to James. She must have looked terribly tense at this moment and when he asked his question, she tried to relax a little.
He said he was a carpenter, here to rebuild her city after Hurricane Katrina, which she could appreciate. She remembers the weeks following the storm trying to get power back and moving the tree limbs out of the way. Maybe that's what prepared her to survive even though her building suffered very little damage. She sat down on the couch next to him and started to wipe gently at the blood on his face and neck.
"Me? I worked for the Health Department here in town." That's all she would say. He could take it as her studying and analyzing, working as a lab tech, or he could take it as her being a janitor after hours. She would let his imagination do what it wanted to do with what she just said. It hardly mattered anymore. His skill was far more valuable then hers.
"You can rebuild, James." She pulled her hand back, having wiped away the gore and handed him the towel. "Although, I don't know if that's what we're supposed to do. Maybe it's too soon. We have to learn to survive first."
Colette waited til she heard the sound of the bike engine. She watched the smole and the scent wafted over to her. She gagged, and then turned around and headed straight into the apartment building she had seen the group run into earlier.
Shot gun up, held in both hands, Colette made her way inside. She could hear voices, and followed them, going slow and steady. This wasn't her first rodeo, and she wasn't going to rush in and get shot, or worse. She didn't hear Clayton's voice. She recognized the Doctor's from upstairs in the other building. Off a ways, she heard Remy's voice. Colette paused at the first door she came too, and glanced in. She spotted the Doctor, the red head, and a figure on the table. Colette hurried inside, "What the hell is going on?" She looked at the red head, 'Where is the blonde? She left the truck, and ran inside to some man. Where's Clayton? He was with you, what the hell happened?' She glanced around to the Doctor, the red head, and the woman on the table. She spotted Clayton, as Holly moved. Holly had been sewing up his shoulder. "Acer's men, did this?" She eyed them, "Why would his hunters attack you all?" Colette was confused, especially since Rollin had came and said how Acer was sorry, that it had been a mistake that Clayton got hurt."Why were they even here?" She gripped the gun, "I need answers, now!" Her voice rose as she spoke, becoming more demanding.
Simon had been out for several hours, sleeping off the pain medication and pain from the gunshot wound in his side. He was far from being healed and he knew he would have to stay put, for now. At least his friend Luca was here and could help him get through this. After that, he had in his mind that he and Luca could take off and head back on the road. He was floating from town to town, city to city, doing what he needed to do to survive.
When he opened his eyes. he saw the sunlight still out and it took him a few minutes to orient himself to the fact that it was still the same day. However, when he turned slightly on the bed, he saw two people outside the door, in the living room, sitting on a couch. He saw the back of a blonde gently wiping the blood off a guy sitting on the couch. He didn't know who they were, but by the way Luca had described Remy, it seemed that may be her. She was Luca's friend also and he wondered what kind of past they both had.
He said nothing as he watched the interaction of the pair for a minute, assessing the situation and assuming that perhaps she was pretty friendly with the guy she was sitting with. Maybe they were together as a couple. He didn't really care. If they wanted to come with him and Luca that was fine, as long as they played by the rules of survival with them.

Andrei heard a bike leave whilst he placed some gauze soaked in hydrogen peroxide inside the Clayton's wound, the man grimacing and grunting during the process.
"This is to stop the bleeding and hold any bacteria that might've gotten inside. I'll take it out tomorrow. Holly, don't close the cut all the way. Leave a bit of space so we can remove this without much of a hassle. If we just close it, the body has a tendency to fill newly formed cavities with fluid, usually blood, and blood is a prime medium for bacteria to grow. By tomorrow any damaged blood vessels will have clotted, and we can go about our business."
He let Holly do the sewing. She needed to keep practicing it, although she was pretty good at it already. He knew medics and nurses who did a worse job. Meanwhile, Andrei started taking inventory of what he had inside his kit. A bit of gauze, a pack needle and thread, various disinfectants, and a bit of morphine and adrenaline. No other anesthetic or pain medication that would've been easier to handle. And the bag was with Clayton's people. It was at this time the woman that came with Clayton's group, and was arguing with Dallas and Luca came into the apartment, with a barrage of questions and gun at the ready.
"Whoa, whoa slow down. And put that down before you hurt somebody!" he said pointing towards her shotgun. She saw Clay after Holly stepped aside, and Andrei began answering a few of her questions, whilst putting everything back. "I have no idea what's going on. The blonde, Sam, is probably in the other building. What happened was we tried to help a guy who was shot and 4 assholes with ski masks barged inside, shot me in the fucking leg before asking anything, shot her in the back and stabbed Clayton. Who in their right mind just shoots at hostages as soon as he enters a room? I have no idea if they're Acer's men or not, what I do know is that they're dead. The hit us because we happened to be in the same room with some random guys they were chasing." he said all that as quickly as he could, Holly managing to finish her work on Clayton.
"Now" he began "seeing as time is a bit of a factor and I'm starting to feel a little lightheaded, how about we get the hell out of here? Clayton, you carry that bag with food and water. Holly, you and I will take her out of here." he pointed towards Kim "And you. I trust you have a car waiting? Lead the way." he said, moving his gaze towards Colette.
James kept his gaze on Remy as she came over and sat down next to him, but when she reached out to clean his face with a wet towel, he flinched for a moment in surprise. For months he had been through hell, and what she did was a rare kindness. It was unexpected, yet felt nice and comforting. Her soft hands touched his skin with a tough rub; the blood had dried out and was tricky to get off. When she mentioned what she had worked as before the outbreak, without going into too much detail, he became curious to know more about it, but choose not to question her at the time. What mattered the most was that she was alive, and that she could maybe put those skills to use, whatever she had done in the past.
Once she was done cleaning away the blood and gore, she handed the towel to him while stating the fact that he could rebuild what had fallen, but that they perhaps first should focus on surviving. He took the towel and agreed with what she said; they needed to focus on more important matters now than building, although his skills as a carpenter could come in handy, one never knew. “You`re right…” James answered in a sad and concerned voice, looking down at the blood stained floor for a moment before turning to face her again. “Well, if you ever need something built, I`m your man.” He spoke trying to reassure her.
As he was about to lean back and relax in the chair again, James saw something passing the window. It wasn`t all that clear to him, but he recognized the figure was no doubt a woman, and she seemed familiar, who on earth was that? He thought to himself, wondering what had just passed them by. The way she was dressed, the way she moved, had he seen her before by any chance? It caught his interest, and without as much of a word, he stood up and began to move toward the door, wanting to get a closer look. But as he was about too, he noticed another person standing in the room, a man.
From what James could see he wasn`t looking all that good, he was wounded and bloody. James froze, not sure what to do, was he an intruder? How long had he been there? What did he want? “Hey! Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want?!” He spoke up and reached for the crowbar, which he had carried earlier. Now ready to strike, he waited for an answer.

Remy smiled and looked down at her lap as he spoke about her ever needing anything rebuilt. She looked up and caught his dark stare, responding with a half smile.
"My confidence." It was true, she desperately needed it back. When she arrived in New Orleans, she thought it would automatically come back and for a short time, it did. But there were too many people. Lily's constant berating, having to kill a walker baby, a new attack...it all culminated into her wondering if she could lead a group. Dan had her convinced she didn't need to and now, she didn't want to. She knew where she had to go, but she wouldn't leave without making sure Anthony was back.
The distraction of Colette running by the apartment was a welcomed one, and as James got up, so did she. He was yelling after her to identify herself, but she already knew who it was.
"It's okay James, that's Colette." She had only seen her in brief passing in the hallway as the others were arguing about getting Anthony back. She only wanted Colette to make sure they weren't being foolish. She knew Luca would just jump in and that could likely get him killed. She thought Colette left, but with the others gone, she could find out more of what is going on.
She followed James quickly, on his footsteps as they reached the door. But then he stopped and turned around seeing a man in the bedroom peering out from behind the door. He seemed to be assessing them and from what she could see, he had bandages wrapped around his body and a slight bloodstain in the side.
"Simon." She whispered under her breath as she looked on with James. Her hands came to James' shoulders as she spoke. "You should go catch up with Colette...the woman who just ran by the window. Go next door and explain to them what happened. They are going to want answers."
She had every intention of staying behind and questioning Simon. She wanted to know his angle, why he was here and what exactly he wanted with Luca. The last thing she wanted was Luca slipping back and being the man he was before they left Miami. Her tone turned darker and more serious as she spoke.
"Go. I'll be fine here. He's injured and I have questions."

Holly froze as Colette spoke, she was staring at the shot gun in the woman's hands. Her yes drifted to Andrei. He spoke up and took a bit of control. Colette seemed cold, but holly figured she was holding onto her nerves. Holly looked at Clayton and did as Andrei instructed and didn't close the wound up completely.
What could she say? She had no idea what had happened, she had been inside with the others. Colette said something about Sam and it made Holly realize something," Andrei, I should go get her. She shouldn't be alone." Holly cleaned up her supplies and went and washed her hands. She kept glancing at Colette. Andrei asked about her vehicle and Holly felt relieved they were still leaving.
Simon opened the door a little more so the guy with the crowbar could see he didn't have any weapons. All he had were pants and boots on and a bandage wrapped around his body. He tilted his head and chuckled as he looked to the blonde.
"Your boyfriend's got quite a temper there." His side was splitting with pain, but instead of arguing it further, he just went back into the room and laid down where he had been sleeping.
"Could I get some water or something?" Andrei told him not to move around too much after the shooting from the surgery, but he wasn't sure just how long he could stay down. Hell, he was ready to go now and get supplies from the woman that shot him but that would make things much worse. He would become a burden and if it was anything he wasn't, it was being a burden.
Colette stared at Andrei," they were Acer's hunters. They were after the man you went to help,hm" she was processing the new information." They stabbed him." She looked at Clayton, and realized that Rollin didn't truly know to what extent Clayton had been injured. He'd been watching them, from somewhere. She lowered the shot gun," the dead are now truly dead outside. Someone took care of them before they left to go get this man back." She glanced at Holly," best you go collect her, I came for my men, and it looks like Cade went with the others, " she locked eyes on Clayton. He would know that by injuring him, Acer's men had crossed a line they shouldn't have. She didn't say anything in front of Holly and Andrei, but he would know she was going to have words with him.
" I can take you all to my place, anyone else here that needs to go, where's Remy?" She stared at the comatose woman," what about her?" Holly needed to go and collect the other woman,so she could help with her, if need be.
Colette noticed how Holly glanced at Andrei, taking her cues from him, and showing concern for his injury." We have time, maybe she should look at that leg before you bleed out, Doc."
Post by Dan-Andrei Moldovan on Nov 1, 2015 13:54:07 GMT -5
The woman, Colette, said all she could about the men that attacked them. But Andrei had the impression she knew more than she let out. She also took a concern in Andrei's injury, suggesting they have time to take care of it.
"What kind of car do you have? If possible, I'd prefer we take care of my wound on the way there and spend as little time here as possible. Those guys who we killed might have friends, and I'd rather be long gone by the time they decide to come looking."
The bleeding wasn't that bad. The belt he used as a tourniquet minimized most of it, the smaller vessels having begun the clotting process already. But that bullet still needed to come out.
Sam did as Damon told her. She was still there behind the closed apartment door. She had sank down to a sitting position and her fingers trailed over her lips. Was that the last kiss he would give her? She sat staring at her bag, then rummaged into her back pocket and pulled out the two pills he had given her.
Her eyes stared at her hand, two white little pills rested on her palm. She wanted to throw them, toss them away, but she couldn't. She placed them in her mouth and snatched the bag open and found a bottle of water. She took a big gulp, swallowing the pills. Sam threw the water bottle away from her and banged the back of her head against the door. Why wouldn't it all just go away?
She heard a man's voice, yelling. She got up and grabbed the golf club Damon had given her. She clutched it to her, gripping the long handle. She felt for the doorknob, and slowly opened the door. Sam could hear it more plain. Her legs began to shake, but she went out onto the landing and slowly to the stairs. She listened and then found herself going down the steps, slowly.
With the intent of hurting the stranger in case he tried something foolish, James waited for the man to explain. Apparently he and Remy knew each other, and she called him Simon. For how long he had been standing there, listening in on their conversation, none of them knew, but for some odd reason he had been convinced she and James were a couple. What he stated made James feel a bit awkward, and with a confused look, he turned his gaze to Remy, wondering if this was going to be a problem. If the man was on good terms with her, they probably had nothing to worry about, but if he was not, then he could probably use the information he had gathered for his own personal gain.
However thinking that he and Remy were friends, James believed there was no immediate danger, and with that in mind, he lowered his weapon. With a hand placed on James`s shoulder, Remy told him to go and look for the others, mentioning Colette who had walked by the window earlier. “Colette?” He said a bit shocked, remembering the name from the past. Could she still be alive? No, she couldn`t be, it must be some other person she was talking about, James thought to himself. “Very well, I`ll go and let them know.” He agreed hesitantly, not entirely sure whether it was the right choice to leave them alone.
Walking out the door, James headed on over to where the others were currently at. If anyone was to explain what had just happened, it had to be James, afterall; it had begun with him and his brother. With a look around, he scouted to see if there were any approaching danger, luckily there was none. As he reached to open the door, he spotted a woman walking down the stairs, she seemed distressed because of something, but he didn`t know if she was friendly or not. Instead of engaging in a conversation with her, James continued and went inside.
Once he entered, James heard familiar voices talking about leaving, one especially stuck out more than others, as if he knew that person from before. It made him curious and with a few more steps, he moved to where they all were standing. Surprised by what he saw, James could not believe his own eyes. Right in front of him stood the woman he once had known, now much older, yet beautiful as ever. He didn`t really know what to say, she was still alive! How could it be, was it fate? Or mere coincidence, he couldn`t make up his mind. “What?!...How…Colette, is that you?...It is!” He mumbled in excitement and shock, glad to see her again. James wanted to come on over to give her a hug, but remained hesitant, seeing she held a gun in her hands.

James left to go meet up with Colette and she would urge him to go with the group. She would stay and wait for the return of Anthony to let them all decide who wanted to go where. The group was splitting up but she wasn't that sad about it. It wasn't her intention to bring a big group with her anyways. It was just supposed to be her and Luca. Everyone else was just coming because maybe they felt compelled to get the hell out of Oklahoma or maybe they felt like they were going to get something she couldn't give them. She wasn't their protector or savoir.
She was just coming home.
Once the door was shut, she turned and looked at Simon who had opened the door a little wider but sat down on the edge of the bed. She watched him for a long moment, watching how he moved and how he sat. With the apartment quiet, she pushed away from the door and into his room. As far as she knew, there was no one else left in the building. She had no idea Sam was creeping down the stairs.
Colette eyed Andrei and his mouse. He wanted to hit the road and take care of his injury on the way,"I got an SUV, but don't be bleeding all over the back seat, Doc. You wanna go, then let's go. " she looked at Holly," go get the blonde and we can leave, times wasting, so shake a leg." She looked at Kim's body and wondered if she was even worth bothering to take with them. She was about to tell the Doc to cut his losses and get his ass in the truck when a voice behind her caught her off guard.
She whirled as it spoke her name. Her eyes locked on James' face, but she showed no signs of the excitement he held in his voice. She wanted to go and be happy to see him, but her mind instantly put it all together." You, " she glanced at Andrei," he one of the men that you went to help?" In that moment, she wanted to kiss James and kill him. He was costing her big time. She smirked and shook her head," I should have known Acer would be looking for someone like you." She ran a hand through her hair," we are leaving, cause you are right , Doc, Acer is out for blood, and he will be back." She pointed to Kim," get her and load her in the truck." She spoke to James," and then haul your ass in it as well, you're coming with me," she smirked at him," if you want to live another night, that is." Colette moved towards the door and stopped right next to James," you sounded all excited to see me, don't be, I ain't that girl anymore." She glanced at the doc and Clayton," move, let's go." She glanced at James one last time and then raised her gun and headed out to the truck.
