Emyr was in too much of a panic that he forgot to pull out his gun to defend himself when the people arrived, not that it would have mattered, considering how many of them there were. It was terrifying, all the people had to do was pull the trigger and he would be dead. At least his current frozen position gave the people no reason to do so.
He kept listening, there was no way he was going to start talking to the leader, listening was fine. Tala spoke of the men attacking them and causing people in the group to lose people. He'd heard about these people, it was these people that he believed Tala was referring to when he had originally joined the group, something about him not surviving with the people around. It also reminded him of the time he'd made Tala upset, asking who the people she lost were, he wanted to forget that. The bearded leader then spoke about the situation, Emyr hadn't been there at the time, so it was hard to know which story was right. The man's explanation seemed to point out that Wyatt's group were the bad guys, he'd known the people awhile now, they'd had there moments but they certainly didn't feel that bad.
He didn't know what to think, but at least the man recognized both sides as being at fault and spoke about wanting to resolve the conflict. Emyr continued to remain still, watching the events unfold in front of him.
Despite muting most of the conversation out by drowning his own head with thoughts, Mason gathered beneath the chatter that these men had attacked them before. Even bringing out the possibility of knowing where their friends are which made Mr. Machoman Wyatt lower his tone and seem very interested in engaging conversation with the man instead of fueling a fight. With the army that had pulled up, it's best to talk. Mason loves to kill. He's turned it into a game. Life is a game for him. But this is a glimpse at a level too far beyond his at the moment. He's not foolish. And hopefully neither is Wyatt and Lara.
Mason notices a rotter coming up behind one of the men, about 10 feet from the group. Maybe the dead mother natures test on this group. How aware are they? Like a level one imp coming up on an army of gladiators. Figuring they'll take care of it, Mason changes the direction of his gaze past Wyatt and Lara to the man in the lead. Carter Fuller. The amount of groups Mason's killed, he's never seen this face.
The man didn't seen to get it. Sounded like he was still holding it against her and the group. She shook her head," wait, you and your men would have reacted the same. A group of armed men barge in, start firing into your group and try to forcibly take part of your group without identifyibg themselves, your men would fight back as well, I imagine. Can't we just agree the whole situation was fucked up?"
He mentioned seeing the others, the girls, and Tala felt her legs grow a bit week. She had been afraid to truly hope they were still alive! She kept telling herself they were and would be alright, but to believe it was another story. She had t realized she had backed up, til she felt the hardness of Mason behind her. She stared at the bearded man and waited for him to answer Wyatt. She meant to step forward, breaking contact with Mason, but she hadn't. She glanced around and then back at the leader," what is it you want? I apologize for our reaction to your group, and I am sorry for their families."
"Yeah it is fucked up, really fucked up, on both sides,"Carter said calmly. "I admit my group probably would have done the same. We would have take action. But I personally would not have attacked without a reason. Until I saw one of my own men go down I would not have fought. But you did. Without thinking you killed someone."
He put his hands behind his back. Taking a deep breath he watched all of the people, this group. When Wyatt spoke about his friends he looked right at him. "I didn't see many. They didn't stop often. I can confirm an older man, and a woman. There was a dog too. And two girls." He looked at him. "There may have been more, I never got an exact number. The radio transmission died out. I only remover them saying those people. That number may have changed as well, it was days ago. I wouldn't let my men follow them past the border."
The girl spoke again, the one he assumed to be the leader of this rag tag group. "What do I want? An apology is a start, but I want your actions reprehended. You see you killed some of my men. Now I don't give two fucks about the degenerates, lowlifes, scumbags. But three good men died. They had families. There's now kids with our fathers, wives who will never see there husband again. You tore apart families. Killed innocent men just doing there jobs." he sighed calmly.
"Now what I want to happen is clear. Three of you will die for those lives. I don't care which three, or how you decide. I will even settle just for two of you. We will have your camp surrounded, and let you decided. I'll be in that car right over there. When you have an answer on which three will die come find me. If you don't decide by the end of the day, me men will kill you all. Gun you each down, and leave the bodies. But if two of you come forward to die for your friends, then all the rest will be spared."
He could hear his men behind him, taking care of the dead. There was enough to handle both the strangers and the dead, he had came prepared. For now he would just wait. The dead wouldn't be a problem, and wouldn't distract the ones with guns on the group.

As Wyatt waited for an answer, he heard Tala speak up. He looked back at her and it got him even angrier as he saw Mason so close to her. Tala apologized and asked what they wanted. Wyatt walked over to Mason and gave him a soft push, making sure he was not near Lara. “Until I know who you are, you stay away from everyone.” He said stern. He knew it wasn’t the time, since they were being watched, but it didn’t mean he couldn’t keep his group safe. He didn’t know Mason yet, so he had to back off.
Then he looked back at the man that got them all outgunned. He started to talk and Wyatt listened. He said it was fucked up for both sides, that was not how Wyatt saw it, but he decided it was for the best to be calm. He looked at all the guys that had guns, if he reacted to blunt, there was a chance that the whole group, including himself would die. Wyatt didn’t say anything but let Carter speak.
Wyatt felt some happiness as he heard the two girls were okay, other than that Carter told him the group had an older man, a woman and dog. Wyatt figured it had to be Ash, since he owned a dog, but for now he had no clue, who the woman was, Lilly maybe? Wyatt was just about to ask if they could help them get to their group as he reacted to Lara.
He gave the usual speech about how they tore families apart and killed good people. Wyatt tried to hide how he thought about him acting all innocent, but it wasn’t easy, he didn’t agree at all. “We didn’t knew you guys meant us no harm, picture yourself in that kind of situation.” Wyatt said trying to defend their actions.
Just then the man finally said what he wanted and Wyatt couldn’t believe his ears. He asked three lives in return, three people of their group had to die. He was so shocked that he couldn’t even react for the first seconds. Then he shook his head to regain his focus. “You have to be joking?” Wyatt asked. “Is that how you solve things?” he added in disbelief. “It isn’t bad enough, that we have to defend ourselves from the dead, but they just had t oadd people like you.” Wyatt said angry. He turned around looking at Tala and the others.
Robert heard everyone, what was said. He didn't like all these guns, aimed at him, the group. They could easily gun them all down twice over, and still have enough guns to riddle there corpses like Swiss cheese. He rubbed his beard. Two of them had to come forward. He didn't expect anyone to offer, maybe Wyatt to save Lara. If they couldn't reason with the man, then maybe he would sacrifice himself. He was old, only a few more years left. And with the smoking and drinking it was bound to happen.
"Hey man, let's be reasonable here. No one needs to die okay," he said speaking as he had at many protests long ago. "Most of us weren't even there at the beginning. We didn't even fire at you or your friends man. Mary, Oliver, the new guy. They didn't even join us till now. None of us are killer man, it was self defence. Wrong place at the wrong time."
He took a deep breath. "So let's just uh talk it out, no one needs to die dude. We can all go our separate ways, never cross paths again,"
Emyr listened in when the man was about to explain exactly what he wanted, if the group could meet those demands, then everything would be fine. Emyr's eyes widened as he listened to the man, it caused him to jump a little. These people would surround the camp and execute everyone if they didn't decide by the end of the day. These men were no better than what they claimed the other group to be, trying to solve the problem with even more death.
He was shaking now, even more so than when they initially surrounded them. He nodded along to what Robert had said, anything to try and convince the other group not to kill them. Mary and Oliver had only just joined the group and he and Robert hadn't been in it very long. Emyr knew he hadn't killed one of their men, anybody could look at him and tell he wasn't a killer. They needed to talk if out, like Robert suggested, or at least think of something or else they'd end up dead.
Wyatt pushed Mason away from Lara telling him to back off in which Mason responded with a sly smile. Wyatt hasn't gotten on his good side. He seems like the leader. A man who swore to protect his group at all costs. But what about this situation? How's he going to protect them from an army of pissed off men? The man asked for two to three lives from the group. For the three men that they had apparently killed, he wanted vengeance. Which seemed reasonable to Mason. That is if he cared about the lives of others. But now it seems his life may be in jeopardy. The fact that his plan had backfired this much so far pissed him off but now because of this groups actions, they are surrounded until two give up their lives.
Mason started to look around, thinking to himself. Emyr could go, can't see him being much use anyways... Scouting out the group members that he predicts will be put up for death. He glances over to Robert who tries to calmly talk things out. The old hippie can go too...
Wyatt pushed Mason away from her. Why? She had bumped back into him, Mason hadn't even reacted badly about it. Tala shot Wyatt a look. This was not the time or the place for this bullshit. They had serious shit going down.
Tala stared in horror as this man said he wanted people to die because of their dead. Who the fuck was he? This was total crap! He wanted them to choose or they would all die. That wasn't going to happen. No way they were going to pick someone to be killed!
She walked towards the vehicle the asshole went to. This ended, now!
"Listen son I just want to atone for the actions your group caused on me. I want you to feel the loss of loosing your friends. I was kind enough to not make the other part of your group do it. I let them go, never even approached them. They had kids, I'm not a monster. No but you're all adults here, all of you know your actions. Only two of you actually harmed my group, but it's been three weeks with the others, they are your group now. You care about them, as the men you killed cared about their families," Carter said calmly. He saw how the man reacted to the new guy, obviously he wasn't their friend.
He got close to Wyatt right in his face. "You see, I want you to feel the pain, the loss. Maybe you'll stop forward, do what the others won't. Take one for the team. I'd applaud you if you did, shows you have balls. Two lives, I'll drop it to two. I don't want to cripple your group, just enough to make you feel the guilt and suffer. Suffer knowing you caused the death. That...its...on...you," he said poking Wyatt in the chest with every word of the last sentence.
He turned making his way back to the vehicle. Before he could even get in the woman came up to him. He turned to her. "Decided that fast? Or do you volunteer," he asked calmly, "I didn't expect it that fast. So who is the other person going to be, the shy guy? He seems so innocent, would be a shame to see him die for what you did. The girl? That cross weighs heavy on her. What about that old man? The reason in his voice, he wants peace. The kind of men I despised when younger. The cowards while I fought. Or is your boyfriend going to step forward." he didn't say who, be it Wyatt or Mason.
If she did anything, they would kill the others. The second Carter was harmed all the others opened fired. They may take out a few, but no one was quick enough to kill them all. They were out numbered four times over. Unless they did this, others would die. He didn't see a way getting out of this. She could take him hostage, but his men had orders to kill the others as soon as Carter was harmed. He was in just as expendable as any of his men.

Wyatt noticed how Tala reacted when he pushed Mason away. He just rolled his eyes, it was for her own good.
When Carter reacted to his plea, he barely could keep his anger down. Then he got close to Wyatt his face, telling him he wanted them to feel the loss. Followed by telling him he should take one for the team and that he would drop the count to two, while he talked he poked Wyatt his chest.. “You don’t know what we’ve been through, so don’t talk to us about feeling what loss is.” Wyatt replied angry. “You don’t know shit about us.” He added angry. “Oh and leave those pokes behind, I’m not one of your men, so don’t order me around and hell don’t touch me.” He said still furious.
Then Tala stepped forward, Wyatt immediately followed, placing his hand on her shoulder, he didn’t want her to do something stupid. He heard Carter talking about a boyfriend, was that about him? Or did he miss something? He decided not to think about it but to focus. “Tala careful.” He said still keeping his hand on her shoulder.
Careful. She was sick and tired of being careful! This asshole's men weren't careful and now he wanted someone to pay for their fuck up. She turned her head and stared at Wyatt. Her eyes spoke volumes. She was done with all this. She was over being afraid! She looked back at the militia man," this ends now." Her tone was cold and serious." You aren't here for retribution, you're here to cover your mistake, your men fucked up, that's not our fault, that's yours, you put men in charge who weren't up to that task and people died, I won't apologize for defending myself and I won't choose someone to die for me." She didn't even glance around, her eyes never left him," we aren't playing your game, you and you're men are going to load up and get the hell out of here, or lay down your weapons and fight fairly." Tala smirked,"unless you're afraid you would fuck that up to? I mean, you are only in control because you have weapons." She raised a brow, waiting.
People with guns showed up, actual people, mguess aimed at them.mthey had ridiculous threats and no backing. Sure they were holding guns to their head, but they had no real reason to shoot.
"Enough of this crap," Oliver said moving around. "I don't even know these people. They showed up in me home and won't leave. Look at them, they're all trouble. Ecspecially that Wyatt fellow ey' trouble maker I tell you. Kept bragging about it was he who shot all your chums. Up to me I say he is the one to blame for your little problem buddy, not the lot of us."
He moved beside a guy with a gun. "See they wandere into my home, and won't leave. I have nothing to do with this, neither does my bro Emry there, or the religious lass. The old man and the new guy aren't part of it either, the last just showed his face today. So clearly this is between the two of them." He pointed at Tala and Wyatt, "and you."
He smirked. "I'm gonna be leaving now. I'm not a fighter, look at me. I'm skinnier than the lasses, and shorter than them too. I ain't the problem here. So let me go back to me porn and comics, and I'll be on my way. You can move your army festive some place else."
He tried to walk past the guard only to get shoved back into the centre with the others.
"Ey' this my fucking home. What you think you're doing. Got shit in your ears, move along."
Rob watched Tala and Wyatt walk off. They were still in the surrounding and were visible to him, so he didn't really care. When Oliver started running his mouth, as he had been known to do Robert just shook his head. The kid would get them killed if he kept it up. He watched him try to leave only to get shoved back.
"Hey now watch it," Robert said moving forward, "don't need to be like that to the kid. He is right, this is his home. Least let us sit down or something man. We don't need to hurt each other. No one needs to die. They killed some people yes, but more deaths aren't going to solve anything. You want revenge, take it in the form of stock instead man. These are just kids."
He moved closer to Carter. "I have guns, ammo, the lot of it. It won't be a problem for you. Military grade rifles, shotguns, snipers. Bet you and your men could use that. I say it makes up for it. I have food, medical supplies. Disperse it to these groups you have. He'll take it all, just don't kill anyone."
He looked at Tala and Wyatt. He couldn't believe he was willing to give up everything he had. His last few years, a decade even, just trying to build this stock. Yet it was worth none of them getting killed.
"Lay down my weapons? Why would I do that. You're armed, all of you, fight back. Raise your guns up. I've seen them. Lord knows you're trigger happy, You won't? It because p you're weak? Scared? Or do you need to win that bad. Admit it, you are defeated." Carter said leaning in the jeep. He pulled his pistol out. Slowly he set it on the hood of the vehicle.
His men threw down the guns around them. They were unarmed, the guns at there feet. But that didn't stop them from being menacing. They out numbered, most military, trained to hurt and kill. The lot of them were strong, built like a brick house or lean and grizzled. Thrown into a cage with them even the toughest man would say they put up a good fight. The ones in the back still held machetes, knives, and spears. They needed Merle weapons to deal with the approaching Zombies.
"There you go, I'm unarmed. No weapons on me," he said with a glare. "But the gun didn't make me a bully. I was one before all this, pushing people around, doing what I want. I like to think my good sign over ruled that. Helping the people, building shelter and communities. But some times. I'm just not sure. You see deep down, days like today, I'm still the bully."
He pushed Wyatt by the chest, and then with a quick shove shoved him again. "Still have to push back till I win." he shoved him to the ground. "Even if I have to knock them to the ground."
He watched Robert come close and with a swift kick brought his foot down on the old hippies knee. He heard a crack and watched him scream out in pain as he fell to the dirt. He then kicked him, knocking him out cold. The boot hitting his head causing him to bleed from his teeth and nose.
He watched Tala.
Oliver came up behind him, holding something. It looked like a knife. With a swift jump out of the way Carter was behind him. He wrapped an arm around Oliver's neck, squeezing it. The Irishmen's face was turning red, as his breath escaped him. Every time he would gasp for air the grasp got tighter. The way he squeezed cause Spain, visible in the kids eyes. But soon it was gone all life was gone from them.
He tossed the limp body of the now deceased Oliver at Emry and Marry. it all happened so fast, going form Wyatt, to Robert, to Oliver. Matter of seconds, a minute at the most. He was strong, knew what he was doing.
Then he stepped up to Tala. "And as a Bully, I always win."

Wyatt looked in Tala her eyes and knew she was furious, he didn’t know what her next step would be, but he was afraid she would get herself killed. The look in her eyes, it told more than words and he had to admit, she was right, they had been through so much, it would be stupid to just give in.
He then heard Oliver talk, if they were getting out of this alive, he was going to hurt the kid so bad. He was a jackass, but he took it to a whole new level. He saw how the men pushed him back and how Robert tried to defend him, by talking. “Don’t defend that worthless son of a bitch Rob, you can clearly see he wouldn’t do the same for us.” Wyatt said stern. He then noticed Robert was talking to Carter, offering his supplies, everything he had to save them. Wyatt was glad people like him existed in this dark world. He gave Robert a little nod with a smile, to show he was thankful.
But Wyatt knew he had to stay focused on Tala, so that he could protect her when needed, he knew she didn’t need his protection, or even wanted it, but he wouldn’t forgive himself if something happened to her or any of the other people he cared for, which didn’t include Mason or Oliver. In the meantime Carter and their men laid down their weapons.
He was so distracted by everything, he didn’t even see the first shove coming. Before he even knew it another shove followed and then a final one knocked him on the ground. Robert was next, he came closer to Carter, but with a kick on his knee, he fell down, screaming. Before Wyatt could do a thing, he planted his boot on Robert his head, knocking him out cold. It was as if Wyatt saw everything in slow motion, but couldn’t do anything. Oliver was next to react, Wyatt watched how he grabbed the kid by the throat, slowly squeezing the life out of him and in no time the dead body was tossed to Mary and Emyr.
Wyatt was in shock, he just killed him, like that, not even breaking a sweat. It didn’t take long after that, before he regained his focus. He knew he had to keep the others safe, he crawled from the floor, filled with anger. It only got worse when he saw him getting close to Tala. “Enough!” he yelled and rushed foreward planting his fist on Carter his face. “You killed an innocent guy and hurt an old man, I think that makes up for us killing two of your men who where both douches !” he yelled in a furious giving him another punch on the face. “Get the fuck out, we are broken, you have had your fucking revenge, it’s because of people like you, this world only gets worse, thinking you ar all so good, but killing innocent people, ever thought about that, huh!” he yelled. He looked at Emyr, Mary and ended with Tala, he had no clue how she would react. Would she decide to grab a gun and start shooting, would she fight, would she be in too much shock, he had no idea, but watched her.
Tala started to move towards Carter in a hurry, this worried Emyr, one wrong move and they'd be dead, not just Tala, they'd all be dead. But Tala wasn't careful, she began telling off the man and rightfully so saying that they should leave now. Emyr was scared to see how Carter would choose to react.
Oliver was the next to react, at least it might take away some of the attention from Tala for a moment. Then Emyr began talking and he remembered what Oliver was like, the situation was probably going to be much worse with Oliver now running their mouth off. He began selling Wyatt out as the one who deserved to die, Wyatt and the people who didn't, him, Mary, Robert and Mason. As much as he appreciated Oliver sticking up for him, he didn't like the way he spoke about Wyatt, as if he boasted about killing Carter's men.
Emyr did smile very briefly, despite the situation they were in, when Oliver called him his bro. Now he knew they were bros, maybe they could hang out after the whole mess was over. Oliver tried walking past one of the guards but got pushed back. "Oliver!" Emyr warned him to stop, it had been the first time he'd spoke since Wyatt and the group had arrived back.
Carter then shoved Wyatt to the ground, then knocking Robert out cold. Oh God, why did Carter feel the need to do this? Was he next? Emyr didn't react, he didn't want to react, he didn't want to give Carter and his men to turn their attention to him. No, he wasn't next, it was Oliver. In a quick sequence of events, Carter was squeezing the life out of him, refusing to let go.
The body was thrown towards him and Mary. Emyr kneeled down next to the body, was he still alive? But it was no use, he was gone. Oliver had been a pain in the ass at times but he wasn't a bad person and didn't deserve to feel Carter's pain. Suddenly, Wyatt was up and punching Carter, Emyr felt good to see Carter now being challenged, a grin grew on Emyr's face, as he watched Carter being hit. The time had come and Emyr was no longer frozen, ready to act if it was needed.
Brad had spend the whole night before today camped out in a soggy creek bed, stretched out in the backseat of the SUV. He could feel the cramping coming on now, since he hadn't the most comfortable positioning since the vehicle was packed to the roof with supplies. No, he was sipping on a bottle of tea while he scoped out the road ahead of him. Twice on his trip through Texas, he had almost been finished by roving groups of bandits. Both times they jumped him from some sheltered side road. Like the one about a hundred yards ahead of him.
He had done some legwork and scouted the area beforehand. It turned out there was an RV park ahead, unknowns inside and alive. There was a single road in and out, which he was currently looking down. Covered in ripped up scrub brush and sand, Brad spent the entire morning peering through the sight of a liberated M40A5 he had found back in Dallas. He had popped a few walkers that got to close, but no one heard the shots thanks to the 7.62MM suppressor screwed onto the barrel of the rifle. Now, he was watching as the same vehicles from earlier were turning back down the road. He was about to get up and follow when he heard the low rumble f a heavier vehicle approaching.
Swinging the rifle left, Brad saw a behemoth of a truck whip by, dripping in heavy steel paneling. It was closely followed by two trucks and a jeep. Everyone had a gun. After they went by, Brad jumped up, throwing cover off him and streaking towards his Tahoe like a frightened rabbit. He had never seen these men, but they looked like the meant business. Throwing the rifle in the backseat as he cranked the engine to life, Brad ripped onto the highway and veered down the side road, intent on catching the convoy. Instead, he must have made a wrong turn, because he had to turn around when he found an impassable river, the bridge destroyed.
All of a sudden, Brad was there. He slammed on the brakes, sliding the Texas State Patrol SUV askew before he ran someone over. He popped the door open and brought a Remington 870 MCS to bear on two men, fighting. Pumping the gun once, he layed the shotgun in the cradle that was the door and the A Post of the truck. He called out as loud as he could. "Everyone take a step back from each other, and keep your hands where I can see them." Brad realized he was on the wrong side of a gunfight when he saw almost all of the men from the convoy had dismounted and were now more or less aiming at the ragtag group of men and women on his left.He wasn't nervous; he just needed to make sure he could down one or two of the guys before the rest opened up on him. Maybe that would distract them long enough for him to rip outta there in the interceptor.
Tala didn't react or give any hint of what she wa about to do. He was a bully. She hated men like him. Men like him killed her father. Men like him had gotten her brothers killed. Men like him had tried to rape her. Rage boiled within her. She actually made a noise, a growl of sorts. God how she seethed. She was doing her best to focus the rage.
He was right up to her and the. Wyatt was there. She watched in horror as shit went down. Robert had done nothing! Oliver was an ass but didn't deserve to die. He would turn and Emyr was right there. Without thinking she picked up his gun from the hood of the vehicle. She turned and fired a shot into Oliver's head. He wouldn't be a danger to Em now. She didn't think. She was past all reasoning, once she felt the gun fire. Her body shifted and she turned to Carter. " fuck you" and she pulled the trigger. Right as a vehicle pulled up. Orders came from it. Tala didn't care, didn't seem to hear. She stood there staring at Carter as her finger squeezed again and again til the clip was empty.
As Brad screamed orders at the group and Lara started to unload her clip at Carter, Mason found the perfect opportunity to strike with a well thought out plan in mind. In a swift motion he yanked his gun from his pocket and turned to his right aiming the gun at one of Carter's men who like the ones around him were distracted by Lara's gunshots. Mason squinted his eye and pulled the trigger with the bullet soaring through the air to hit its target. Not the man himself but the grenade strapped to his belt, causing it to explode killing all within it's radius, even destroyed a few of the trucks nearby. Right after the trigger was pulled, Mason took no time to wait and darted towards the RV which was mere inches from him, looking back at the others he screamed, "Come..!" He gave them a fair warning at this point that now was their time to escape if they wanted to live another day.
He stomps up the steps and immediately starts the engine seeing that his stunt had cleared a path for the RV to head out and onto the road. He turned to see that some of the men didn't see Mason but some did as they unload their guns, and a gun fight commences. Mason however seen it as the inedible. It was bound to end in a gunfight if they wanted to escape. If HE wanted to escape. He counted down from ten in his head for those who wanted to join to come and he would drive off. 10...9...8...7...6...5...4...
