Lexi awoke from her bed as a calming light broke through the sliding door of room 202's balcony. With a stretch, she creaked out of bed, her hair sticking at strange angles in the air. She glided towards her bathroom, lifted back the shower curtain and twisted the knobs, letting warm water spray out. Smiling widely, she was so happy that they finally figured out how to get the showers working again and just from the fact that she would never have to worry about the intricacies of a boiler ever again.
Taking off the large t shirt she was wearing, she drifted into the shower, pulled her hair back and let the steam fill the room, letting her mind drift off. Minutes later, she emerged from the bathroom with a towel covering herself. She rifled through her closet and picked out undergarments, pulled a tank top from a hangar and slipped on a pair of jeans. It was crazy to think the state she was in just a few weeks earlier. Totally lost, starving, and now here she was, waking up in a resort.
Once her hair dried enough, she parted it, brushed it with the fine maple comb they found in town a few days earlier and reoriented her style to part and fall mostly to one side. Looking at the final product in the mirror, she smiled slightly. Her former emaciated form was gone, she liked how she looked again. She found her hand moving towards the makeup supplies she'd recovered at the pharmacy from the previous week and decided that today was a good enough day to bust it out.
Exiting the room with a small smile stuck on her face, she turned and locked her door as she turned to the stairs. She caught sight of a body moving down a little ahead of her. "Hey Gary," She said, moving past him as he knelt down to grab something, trying to act coy, avoiding eye contact.
Gary straightened back up and looked to the girl. "Lexi, on your way to breakfast, huh? You're looking nice today."
Gary wasn't too old, but he was a little slower than a younger person so she had no problem skirting past him. "Thanks Gary."
She skipped down to the lobby where everyone else was already eating breakfast, most people gathering in their own mini groups. First there was Skylar who had offered to make everyone a hot breakfast that morning. He had gotten the oven working in the kitchen and made enough eggs and bacon for everyone. The eggs were going to expire soon so they had to use them up anyway and it seemed right to have a big meal as a sort of welcoming party for all the new people.
Grabbing a plate from the check-in counter of eggs and bacon was a younger girl, Abby. She was Gary's niece and she probably was excited to eat and see the boys to wait for her uncle. The two of them had been at the Inn for about three days. Lexi and Seth had found them trying to get through town but running into some trouble. Luckily, they got away alright and, although Abby was too young to really help out and Gary was a little older, he was willing to try to help out in any way he could.
Lastly, there were the Buchanans, eating together at a table set up in the dinning area next to the lobby. Barbara was very caring of her two boys, Derrick and Tyler. The family had only been with them for two days but Barbara seemed to think this was the safest place for her boys. She actually had the idea of staying at the Hampton and tried to break in two nights ago. She was surprised to find people still there and was grateful to find a home, at least for now.
Lexi scanned the room, searching for Seth. They had planned to eat together but she wasn't sure if she could spot him or not.
