Ash sat next to Lilly as she pulled the RV over next to what he could only describe as a Graveyard of cars. "Shit. We can't get any closer." Lilly scowled as the cars blocked their path to the fort. It was within view but blocked by abandoned vehicles. "It's alright we'll walk the rest of the way. You coming or you gonna stay with the RV?" Ash asked grabbing his revolver off the dashboard. "I'll stay here with Lee."
Ash nodded as he tried the door to the bathroom. Locked. He didn't see anyone get in it. Not after they left the tunnel. He shrugged it off to someone not unlocking it all the way after they used it. Shadow sat up seeing Ash move and wagged his tail. "This is as close as we can get with the RV. We're walking the rest of the way to the fort. Lilly's staying with the RV and Lee. Mark you should stay to. At least until...Your more adjusted with your eye."
Ash was still unsure about the Biker being able to fight since he lost his eye. Ash slung his crossbow over his shoulder. "Whoever wants to go with Richard and Me to the fort is more than welcome but we don't wanna attract too much attention." Shadow barked at Ash. "Nope you stay here and help warn them if walkers are coming." Ash rubbed the husky's head.

The girls being on duty to change and feed baby Lee through the night, ended up decorating the inside of the RV with crayon and marker colored pumpkins, Jack-O-Lanterns, bats, black cats and one Jack-O-Melon. They were stickered onto a length of string and hung across the window below their family of past and present collage.
Clementine drew her own mask, making a husky mask. She had decided to be Shadow for Halloween, and she drew and colored a the most naturalistic husky she could the markers and crayons, putting her eyes where Shadow's would be in the mask.

Dakota also drew and cute a paper mask of a black widow. She chose to be her pet black widow, Charlotte for Halloween. The red hourglass ended up being colored to fall on Koda's forehead, and the eyeholes did not match the big cartoon eyes and smile she drew for Charlotte down around her own chin.
If the girls did their job right, they lastly tried pull off their Halloween prank, while Tori was sleeping. They meant to color her face orange, and her hairline, but not her hair, green so Tori could be an Oompa Loompa for Halloween. Both girls were all grins until morning.
In Dakota's pack, there a couple bags of M&M's some from the Walmart in New Mexico and one left over from last year in Miami. They would be handing out the candy, it was tradition now.

The girls gave Richard three M&M's and a sticker for the back of his hand. ”Trick or treat!”
”Welcome to the family!”
They gave Alphonse three M&M's and a stick for the back of his hand too. ”Trick or treat!”
”Welcome to the family!”
When Tori awoke, they gave her three M&M's and a double hug! They made no mention of their little Oompa Loompa trick if it was successful. ”Trick AND treat!!” They did slip away giggling behind their paper masks though.
They climbed up and each gave Kiku a hug and three M&M's and a couple flower stickers. ”Trick or treat!!!”
They gave Lilly a double hug and four M&M's. It was Clem who snuck in the extra M&M for her. ”Trick or treat!!”
Mark got a double hug too and couple M&M's from each of the girls. ”Trick or treat!!!”
Ash got a longer double hug and three or four M&M's, while Shadow got extra pets. ”Trick or treat, Papa Bear!!”

The girls then got their sleep along the way to Ft. Collins... after hiding their coloring supplies. When the RV and all pulled right in, Dakota stirred and pulled her Charlotte mask up. Yawning, she rubbed her eyes and got up and fixed her hair back up in its alligator clip. Cowboy hat on top of that, and she grabbed her rifle and crossbow. Dakota left her mask with her pack.
Glancing back to Clementine, ”I'm gong with Papa Bear.”

Clementine yawned big, and slowly and carefully put her Shadow mask to the side. Koda was already up, so she slipped on her familiar hat, and grabbed a couple M&M's to munch on. ”Oh.. I'm gonna stay here and help Lilly and Mark with Lee.”
Tori wasn't a light sleeper by any stretch of the imagination. The woman could sleep through a tornado lifting up her house and tossing it to the other side of the state. Loud thunderstorms and honk of the horn wasn't enough to wake her. Living in Kansas you got used to hazardous weather conditions since they were often commonplace. So, Tori slept right through having her face and hairline colored by the girls. Waking up a few minutes later to get a hug and M&Ms. Wait, they had M&Ms this whole time? What? Tori didn't question it. She just ate the candy. Not even remembering the last time she had a M&M. They weren't Smarties, but they would do.
Tori heard Ash speak and got up to approach him. Grabbing her jacket and putting it back on. Putting the bat in the sleeve while her nightstick was still in her back jeans pocket. And now she had a gun and a knife to boot. Good thing she had enough item slots to put them all. Now if only she could find some ink ribbons to save her game.
“I'll go.”
Ash had been known to have... we'll call them 'dizzy spells' for lack of a better term, and she still didn't completely trust Richard yet. So she didn't want Dakota to potentially be alone with him if Ash had another incident. She was completely oblivious to her new Halloween costume.
Richard didn't manage to sleep much the night before the trip--his mind was racing over the potential of finding his daughter, it had all come down to this. Honestly, he never thought he would have ever made it this far, but somehow he found a way to survive this long--he just hoped the grueling expedition wasn't for anything. He had found a small group of survivors, they were close like a family, it made him happy, but at the back of his mind his own family surfaced, he needed closure.
He sat against the wall, his pack beside him as he looked through his photo album--a small smile resting on his face. He heard the sound of footsteps, seeing the girls running up to him. They were wearing their masks, giddy in excitement. "Trick or treat," they giggled as they held out a couple pieces of M&Ms.
He took the candy and smiled as they placed a sticker on his hand. They welcomed him to their family and ran off. He closed his eyes as he popped the small chocolates into his mouth, this was all just too much. But, he couldn't let these people see that he was breaking down in emotion, so he kept his eyes shut and somehow managed to doze off during the ride. He awoke the sound of the RV coming to a halt. He stood up, hoping they had arrived, only to see a mass of cars in their way. Shit...always have to make it tough on me. He watched as Ash grabbed his revolver from the dashboard, eyeing Richard. He quickly grabbed his pack, pausing to throw the photo album back inside. I'm coming...
As he stepped forward towards the front of the RV, he pulled out a crumpled paper that read Colorado State University Parent Weekend, which he had written down the hall and room number she had stayed in. He held out the paper to Ash, "This is where we need to go." He watched as Dakota made her way forward and then Tori.
He was in complete focus, but even Tori's appearance had broken him into a grin, but he managed to hold it in, glancing back towards Dakota giving her a discrete wink--her secret was safe with him. "Thank you for coming with me," he paused as he glanced towards Tori, "I'll lead the way, but I'll at least need my hatchet...you can hold onto my pistol."
Tori perked an eyebrow at Richard. What was he grinning about? She have something in her teeth? He asked about the hatchet, and Tori was confused for a moment. Did she leave him that defenseless? Tori checked her pockets and sure enough the hatchet was still on her.
“Thought I at least gave you back that much. Must've dreamt it.”
A hatchet was a little harder to conceal than a knife and a gun, so Tori gave it back to him without much fuss. He already said he'd lead, so Tori could easily keep an eye on him that way. Be a bad move for anyone to turn a hatchet on the people with guns, so Tori didn't have much to worry there. But oh caution. Caution was important. Without caution you end up letting strangers into your group and they kidnap your allies.
That was oddly specific...

Ash smiled and hugged the girls as they gave him some Halloween candy. "Happy Halloween squirts." Eating the candy it felt good to have something sweet in his stomach instead of Rice and vegetables. Gripping his crossbow in his hands he studied the paper Richard held out to him. "Oh boy a parents weekend. I hope you don't embarrass your daughter in front of all her friends."
The Texan zipped up his jacket as he made sure the others were ready. "Alright. Let's get moving." Ash pushed the brim of Dakota's hat over her eyes as he walked past her.

Dakota giggled and was grateful Richard didn't ruin the fun. Though she honestly hadn't thought they'd get this far. It was too bad Clem might not get to see Tori's expression, when she finally did see her reflection or someone finally blabbed. Koda would just have to do her best to tell Clem all about it, when they got back. The best part about declaring your own holidays, is they could last more than one day if you wanted.
Her hat came down over her sight again, and she sighed. She knew it was Ash that did it before she even lifted her hat back up. She zeroed in and, and tried to leap for Ash's hat. Maybe she could tip it off his head? The answer was a cold and big, fat nope. Long as Papa Bear stood straight, the best she could do was get outstretched fingertips within a couple inches of his hat's brim. She tried three or four times in a row, before giving up and laughing.
Looking ahead, she knew it was time to focus, and without consciously thinking to do it she imitated the way Ash held his crossbow. Her own crossbow was hung across her shoulder, and while it was quieter, it was not as fast for her in a pinch. If they came upon trouble unnoticed, and wanted to maintain surprise, then she could switch.
For a little girl like her, keeping trouble at a distance was a big key to survival. Even with what Mark had taught her and Clem about fighting, not letting danger, dead or living, get in close was of prime importance. That meant a whole of running, and keeping people like Papa Bear in front of you. She would be keeping to the middle of everyone going along.
Koda tipped her hat forward to shade her eyes and give it what she considered her 'serious' look. Patting her pockets, ”Be right back.” She dashed back inside the RV, and returned about a minute later, pocketing her small round container of extra .22 ammo. There may have been a short pause to hug and pet Shadow one more time on her way out.
Dakota sincerely hoped she wouldn't need it. She had been stingy with her ammo these last two years, because she only had two boxes. Now she was ready.

Clementine had spent most of the night split between making her mask and Halloween decorations and alternating shifts with Dakota in feeding and changing baby Lee every two hours. Clem may have taken an extra shift or two, so Koda could finish up the decorations for the RV. Just enough of a difference to make Clem wish she were still sleeping.
She yawned big as she went to check on baby Lee. Clem didn't quite make it, instead sitting down for just a couple minutes. A couple minutes became laying down for a couple more, and that was all the sandman needed to draw Clem back into dreamland.
Mark grabbed his hoodie from his saddle bag. Shadow sniffed at the bathroom door and let out a huff as the husky made his bed underneath Clementine. Removing his vest so he could put on his hoodie. Grabbing his pistol off the counter he stopped seeing Clementine asleep. The biker couldn't help but smile as he gently patted her head. Laying his vest over the girl he walked outside and ate the M&Ms the girls had given him for Halloween.
Standing outside he leaned on the RV wishing he had a cigarette. He'd given up smoking just before he lost his eye. The biker looked at the abandoned cars and moved towards them. Opening up doors he searched the inside of the abandoned vehicles.
Tori took out the gun she got from Richard and double checked to make sure the safety wasn't on this time. Got? More like took, but who was keeping track? She was a lot more comfortable with the nightstick and the bat than the gun, but thought it was a good idea nonetheless to have it on standby. Some times it wasn't possible to get up close and personal with the undead. Other times it was straight up suicide. Tori tucked the gun away, hoping it didn't go off accidentally or anything, and moved to meet the others outside the RV.
Ash couldn't help but laugh at Dakota's attempts to grab his hat. He was glad he was taller than the girl. Imagine how much further she'd have to jump to get Mark. "Alright If everyone's got everything let's move out. If you see anything interesting in the cars let us know and we'll stop." Ash loaded a bolt into his crossbow and made sure the other bolts were within reach. Walking through the graveyard of cars was weird. It reminded Ash of getting out of San Antonio. Except then he had his truck and was able to drive on the side.

Familiar figures and faces slowly came into focus for Clementine. Sitting up, was the face of the man she had been resting against, and it filled her heart with joy to see him. She hugged him, "Lee!"
The man smiled warmly,"Hey, sweetpea."
Clementine sat up and looked around the RV, "Where's Dakota and baby Lee? Or Papa Bear, Tori, Mark and Lilly?"
The man chuckled and nodded toward the open door. She looked up in time to see Mark wave and smile on his way out. Just outside she could make out everyone's voices. Lee calmly noted, "Dakota and everyone are outside. The picnic is just about start. Anthony and Vivian should be out there too."
Somehow it didn't strike her strange that Lee didn't balk at those names, and even spoke as if they were all old friends. Clem jumped to her feet and pulled Lee by the hand toward the door. Of course this is the way it was supposed to be. There was vague urge from her bladder, but that could wait. She called out as she stepped down from the RV, "Mom! Dad! Don't let Koda eat all the ice cream again!"
Clem kept on pulling Lee toward the large gathering. The weather was clear and sunny with birds singing in the trees. As they reached the picnic tables, but the need to pee was getting more urgent. Bad news, because Lee, her parents and the picnic all began to fade, the call of nature distracting her back toward the waking world. Clem stubbornly tried to cling to her fading dream world. Next thing she knew, her eyes were opening, and she grumbled to herself.
Clem smiled to see Shadow and rubbed the resting husky's head. The dream was already too difficult remember details. She sighed, patting Shadow once more, and got to her feet. Clem sighed in growing annoyance. Of course the bathroom was locked. She knocked, "Are you going to be much longer? I really need to pee."
Glancing up and down the inside of the RV Clementine tried to see who might be in there.
Lilly watched Ash and the others leave. Putting her feet up on the console behind the steering wheel she closed her eyes wanting to get a few minutes of shut eye. She dozed off and was woken up by Clementine knocking at the bathroom door. Rubbing her eyes she opened up the glove compartment. "Hold on Clem I've got a spare key to unlock the bathroom."
Her pistol sitting on the passenger seat she grabbed the key out of the glove compartment. She walked over and smiled warmly to Clementine as she unlocked and opened the door. Her eyes widened in shock and horror as they came face to face with the evil cult leader. "Hello Lovely." She felt a sharp pain in her neck as she looked down seeing a needle sticking out of her neck. The world began to blur and fade as she collapsed.
Brett had been sitting in the bathroom of the RV since the group was in the tunnel. Sneaking in while everyone was sleeping he slipped into the RV and locked himself in. He wanted to reveal himself later but he had to push his plans up further than he thought he would. Hearing Clementine knock on the door he knew the jig was up. He stood up hearing Lilly and readied a needle. "Hello Lovely." He said as he quickly jammed the needle into her neck.
Turning to the Little girl he smiled as he kept a pistol in his grasp. "Clementine was it? Why don't we got have a talk?"

Dakota stuck close to Ash's side, occasionally she would meander on over to Tori's side. She would wonder back toward Ash if she felt a snicker coming on. Koda wondered and hoped if they could even make it all the way back to the RV before Tori noticed the gift of her oompa loompa costume.
Lifting her butterfly bead necklace, she kissed the necklace, quietly whispering to her family on the other side to keep an eye on Clem and the rest of her current adapted family still among the living. Tucking the necklace back into her shirt, she zipped up her tye dye hoodie, and held her rifle at the ready. Koda glanced into a few of the cars herself, though she was busiest looking about the car graveyard for trouble that might hidden among them.
One car not so far along had something that caught her eye on the floor. Peering in, the door looked unlocked, but it still wouldn't open. Jammed or swollen shut, the passenger side door would not budge. ”I think I see something, Papa Bear.”
Rather than busting the window in, she though to give the driver side door a try first. It was stubborn too, but one or two tugs, the door creaked open Dakota climbed on in, and reached down to pull the small black plastic brick she had glimpsed, the glint of its solar paneled top being what caught her eye. Dakota poked around, and dug up more gold USB cable and different adapters. ”If this still works, I can finally show Clem how she should've liked Jackie Greene better than Bieber or the Jonas brothers.”
A quick little extra search did not give up any other devices that might have once gone with the solar powered battery pack. She did see one other thing as she was backing out of the car though, a shirt in the back. Grabbing it, she crawled back out. Dakota unshouldered her crossbow, and slid off her hoodie jacket, tying it into a makeshift purse for the solar battery pack and its assorted goodies.
The shirt itself was a torn and bloodied with Hello Kitty emblazoned on the chest. It brought Dakota brief thought to the fate of the shirt's former owner. Hoping whoever they were was at rest, she took Ash's old hunting knife from her hip, and tore the shirt into one long ribbon. Twisting the faded blue fabric up, she put it to use as a shoulder strap for her rifle. Now she could switch her crossbow without leaving her rifle laying around.
Dakota was struggling with loading one of her only bolts, when movement drew her attention further down the car graveyard, a couple of figures lumbering about with the gait of the living impaired. The walkers were still far enough away to be avoided or simply wander harmlessly away. Dakota swallowed, her throat going dry, and she almost forgot to finish pulling the bolt back. After the small mercy of hearing the crossbow finally click, she circled back behind the car. Hoping one the grown ups had saw them already. She lowered her voice, ”There's some company ahead.”

Clementine was greatly relieved to hear Lilly had that key. She smiled up at Lilly as she unlocked the bathroom door, “Thanks, Lil-ee.” The abrupt pause in her speech came with shock across her face. Right about now, part of her wished she had let Dakota squeeze the trigger. Fear she couldn't really hide shone in her dark brown eyes. How on earth did this man sneak past their radar? Were the rest of his crazies not far off?
Clem focused on her concern for Lilly when she went down like that, and for the baby to keep her own fear in check. And what about Mark or Kiku did they already get them? She wished more than ever to be back at the picnic in her dreams than right here. Not to mention, she still really had to pee, and her own gun was tucked away. There wasn't much of anything she could do, except maybe stall for time. She would have to hold it for now, Clem deciding to kneel down and check on Lilly. She gently shook Lilly's shoulder, “What did you do to her?? Lilly?? Lilly?”
