"Good put the cans in your pack and let's keep moving," Nate said looking at the pair. "Try the lower shelves, there has to be more food here." Nate stepped and looked at the food on the higher shelf. He was only as tall as the second shelf, the food being three or four higher than that. Consider it was a back room it was natural, but they weren't pushing anyone up.
Before Jake could suggest a ladder a shot wrang out. Nate turned towards it. He shine his light toward Jake, saw how he wanted to run, to check on their friends. "It's none of ours, unless Charles decided to be an idiot. There's just one, so either they have it handled or Charles betrayed us." Nate gripped the axe tighter.
"Fuck it, we need to check on them," he said pushing past the door back into the body of the store. He hoped Jake and Emre would follow, knew Jake would for sure. They had enough food to last till the next stop anyway. They just needed a can opener now. He wondered what section the others were at. "Mia wanted to check the pharmacy area, let's go there."
Nate picked up his pace, as fast as he could with his limp. He moved forward, taking a turn down the major section. He saw lights of the lights coming from their flashlights. Nate pointed his light towards then. "Over there, let's hurry," he said, seeing a man he didn't recognize.
Dannie seemed to have the situation under control, her gun aimed at the man. Nate raised his axe, behind the intruder. He was there incase they needed him.

Jake sighed in relief as Nate agreed to check it out. He followed close behind Nate as he could feel his heart beating in his throat, while the adrenaline rushed through his veins. ‘Please let them be ok.’ Jake thought as he ran. He made sure to check if Emre was behind him since, he was the one without a flashlight.
As they got closer, Jake started to grab his gun from the holster. Moments later, right after Nate yelled over there, they finally reached the others. He was glad when he saw Mia and Dannie were ok, oh yes and there was Charles too, not sure if he cared if he was still there. He saw how Nate raised his axe and he did the same with his gun, while keeping his knife in his other hand, but not yet raising it. “Everything alright, you guys ok?” Jake asked looking from Dannie to Mia.
"Well now the whole posse is here," Kelly replied with a dry chuckle and let his pistol roll on his finger, "I'd put this down darlin if I knew I wasn't going to get one in the back. Trust given and trust earned dear."
Kelly was in no position to negotiate but he knew the dangers of this store and what laid behind closed doors. He was the hero here and could have easily just let what rotters lingered around get them, maybe he just should have?
"But seein as how the clan is all here and how I just saved yous'ins I'll comply," Kelly let the pistol clank to the ground keeping both hands slightly in the air he turned around, "I do suggest however people that you get what yous need and depart from this fiendish Hell of a place before they close in. Maybe we can continue this pow wow in the light of day?"

Hearing Dannie calling him her dirty little secret of the past made Charles smile, what she said were true, their former relationship had been one of a kind. Oftentimes he would have gone to ask her for a favor or simply to causal flirt with her once in a while, and he knew she felt attracted to him as well, in her own certain way. When the club had asked Charles to deal with the cops because of his close friendship to Dannie, he had never imagined what lenghts she would go on his behalf. It for sure had saved him a lot of trouble, as growing up in worst part Chicago hadn`t been easy.
Just as he thought he had maybe convinced her to remain in the south, instead of going north. She kept firm in her belief that it was best to stay with her friends, Dannie was quite loyal and bending her to his will and wishes wasn`t as easy he had hoped it would be. If Charles were to succeed, then he needed to be more convincing. Perhaps try a different approach, which led him to think of Mia, who Nate seemed to fancy. If he could make her buckle, then maybe the rest would follow. However, his plans of stealing their stuff and heading another way wasn`t quite out of his mind just yet, he could still do it, but then he would probably never see Dannie again.
Caught between a rock and a hard place, Charles needed to decide what to do next, although as he was about to respond to her, a loud gunshot was heard echoing throughout the entire store. Quickly he turned to its direction and behind him he could see a man, one who had just shot a creeping walker. If he had wanted too, he could have killed them both in an instant, without them even noticing. Charles had been too busy concentrating on Dannie that he had completely forgot his surroundings, it was a mistake he didn`t want to repeat.
At the same time Dannie used to react and pull up the gun, Charles did the same, aiming at the stranger. His gun had the silencer attached, and he would use it if he needed too. Dannie commanded the odd looking fellow to drop his weapon and turn around, the same words Charles would have uttered had he been quick enough. Instead, he approached the man and spoke with a stern tone. “You heard her! Do as she said!”
With the gun aimed at his head, Charles moved to the side of the man, only to witness the others of the group arrive late to the show. They all remained alert, the same way they had been toward him earlier, but this was different, Charles thought to himself, because this wasn`t him, nor did he trust the man. “Hell no, we`ll do this now!” He replied to the stranger`s suggestion to wait to the light of day. Then Charles moved to kick him, right behind his kneecap, so that he would fall to the ground on his knees. With him sitting, he could aim better at his head.
Just as Charles reached to grab the weapons of the stranger, one could hear loud noises coming from all directions. The undead had been attracted by the gunshot and they came their way, if they didn`t want to get themselves trapped inside, they had to leave. How many they were none knew, but Charles estimated it had to be over a dozen at least. For a short moment, he glanced back at Dannie with a look of concern, then all of sudden a shelf beside Dannie fell down and behind it stood a walking corpse ready to bite.
As Mia saw Nate and the others approach Dannie and the two new men, she slowly came over. Mia had her hands full, one holding her flashlight, the other held the crowbar. Jake said something, and she moved close to him, placing herself between him and Emre. She glanced at Nate, and saw this whole situation going badly, real quick.
Mia watched Charles react and reached out and gripped the back of Jake's shirt. Is this who they were? Is that what they had all become? The man had helped them, right? It was the. That she heard the noise and the shelf fell over. Mia didn't scream , instead, she pushed against Jake," let's go, let's go' she wanted to get out of here. Now! She swiped her flashlight around. It seemed noise of walkers were coming from everywhere.
This was as hick as they came, according to the drawl of his accent but he managed to take out a walker that was inside the store. However the shot that was fired was not what they needed. Nate made it clear not to use guns if necessary and the group complied, but this guy was not part of their group. She heard the faint growls and clawing at the doors in the back as the masses started to surround them.
"Shit." She didn't know who this guy was but he did manage to help, albeit slightly with a walker that any of them could have taken care of.
"Mia's right, we have to go."
She hesitated, still pointing her gun at Kelly to see what his next moves would be, which were nothing at all. Finally, she lowered the gun and spoke to Charles.
"Let's go. Cover Mia so she can get the medical supplies out. I'll get the clothes to the truck."
They would have to move quickly if they wanted to make it out alive. Charles wouldn't have time to talk her out of heading to wherever the group was going, certainly not until they made their next stop. She turned and ran back to the car, pushing over a few racks of springtime clothes that were still hanging up. The wheels rattled against the floor as she headed towards the doors. It took a few minutes to get the car over the hump of the metal doors and she could see walkers slowly limping towards the store. Instead of struggling more, she just decided to grab what she could by hand and run towards the truck, throwing everything in the bed and jumping in herself.

Jake kept his gun raised as he listened to the stranger, he saw how Mia got close to him. He smiled at her and winked, wanted to let her know everything was going to be ok. The guy seemed alright, after all he sort of saved the others from a walker. Then he heard the reaction of Charles, again very spicy, no need to yell before hearing him out. Jake had been friendly towards Charles at first, but after his attitude he changed how Jake thought about him.
So Jake felt like he was in no position to yell at the guy. It seemed like he wasn’t the only one thinkin it, since he felt Mia grabbing his shirt. As he turned around he could see the look in her eyes and he felt like he had to react. “There is no need to yell or you might as well scream free meals here dead heads.” Jake said as he glared at Charles. “Besides don’t act like you take the decisions around here, cause you’re not, we are not the kind of people that shoot first and ask questions later, we are good people.” He added n a stern tone.
But then everything happened pretty fast, a rack was pushed over, with a walker behind it. The sound those things made sounded through the whole shop. Jake then heard how Mia yelled and Dannie agreed. “Ok, let’s get out of here while we still can.” Jake said. Then he grabbed the stranger and pulled him to his feet. “Let’s call it even now.” He said with a smile. Then he followed the others out. Nate, Emre, the new dude and he were the last to leave. As he made it towards the exit he heard Dannie yell their names. “Nate, Emre!” he yelled to make sure they got out.
(couldn’t followed the part with the car xD, dd Jake his car got stuck and all that is left is the truck then? If not the next one can NPC Jake into his car, cause wouldn’t like to leave it )
Kelly didn't flinch, he knew the danger. When the shelf hit and the others began to run he retrieved his pistol standing he began to fire round after round into oncoming rotters. "Scrams the word mama," Kelly said with a laugh as he popped another two rotters, "I'll cover until you folks clear out."
Three more shots dropped two rotters and the third took out one's whole left shoulder which caused it to fall back into three more knocking them over. Then click, click, click as he squeezed the trigger signifying empty. He tucked the pistol and grabbed up a pair of jeans turning to head towards the door, his goal was to tie the front door together, and delay the rotters.
"Y'all gentlemen goin to move those asses or is you goin to make your friends bury ya?" Kelly grunted at the fellow who had kicked his knee out. He liked that guy already.
Nate watched Charles react to the man. He ha kicked him, taking him down. The man endangered the group by shooting, walkers could be coming towards the building any minute now. He deserved it, if Charles was willing to act for the group maybe he wasn't so bad. It didn't excuse him, but maybe he wasn't so bad as Nate had thought.
He saw Mia and Jake, heard bits and parts. Jake helped the man who shot the gun up and Nate just shook his head, they should have questioned him, not acted so friendly. They man was a factor they didn't need right now, they would deal with it later. Nate looked at the man, glared.
"Watch your backs," he said to the others, "we don't know what this man will.." He was cut off by a shelf falling down before him. The sound of growls could be heard. The walkers were upon them, they needed to leave. The sound came from all over, echoing and bouncing off walls. "We need to move let's go. Grab everything we have and let's leave."
He would wait for all the others, once they were gone he would follow. He wanted to make sure everyone was safe before him, ecspecially Mia. Once they started to leave, Dannie and Charles leading the charge out Nate followed. Shelves were falling all around them. He heard the gun go off again, the man shooting the dead. Nate swing his axe with one hand, taking a walker in the chest to the ground.
He stopped to rip it out, the others ahead of him. Moving along walkers blocked his path, seperating him from the others. Nate put his foot forward, kicking the lead Walker into others. The tumbled into a pile an he kept moving.
Just as Nate was about at the doors his bag snagged on a leaning shelf. He gave a big tug to free the backpack, causing the shelf to wobble. It went down, knocking him to the ground. His legs were pinned, his flashlight knocked free, shining light toward him.
Nate tugged on his leg, trying to free it from where the steel shelf trapped his ankle. He saw the door, the others already through. He could hear the others from beyond the broken glass door. The gun man was at the doors, a pair of jeans tying them shut. Nate reached out as he heard the sound of a walker coming from the shelf.
His hands went to his axe, off his leg. He swing it down, taking over a crawling walker's head. Other's lowered behind it, trying to push it's way in. Nate swung again, taking out another. Two more came as Nate swung again. The axe hit the Walker in the head, sticking in deep. The Walker collapsed back, the axe going from Nates hands to the floor.
It still stuck in the walkers head, just out of reach. Nate tryed to reach for it, stretching. He strained his arm, his right hand grabbing the axe, fingertips barely slipping around it. The other walkers was upon him, Nate used his other hand to push it back, holding it's chest. The Walker snapped and growled, other piling up behind it, trying to get in.
Nate stopped trying for the axe and brought his other hand to fight off the Walker. His right hand shot up to it's neck, pushing, squeezing. Blood dropped down, as he pushed it harder and harder. The aking began to tear, the head breaking through muscle. With just bone left he pushed it back.
The Walker snapped, the mouth going around and down on the last three figters on his right hand. He screamed out in pain, pulling back, watching his fingers be torn off. The bite went up there towards the Palm of his hand. It was a big chunk gone, as he helled it, falling back.
When Emre and Jake had found the cans, Nate told the two to put them in their packs and continue moving. It was hard for Emre considering he didn't have a pack so he just helped to fill up Jake's. They had a decent amount of cans when gunshot went off. Emre was immediately alert as he pulled out his firearm and aimed towards the direction of the shot. Nate mentioned that it couldn't have been any of ours other than Charles. Emre didn't know Charles at all pretty much, he didn't want to jump to conclusions and assume he did it. Nate suddenly began to go as fast as he could towards the gunshot, Emre glanced at Jake then looked back and ran as fast as he could to catch up with Nate.
As the three arrived at the scene, they saw a man they hadn't seen before. There were already so many guns on him so Emre didn't bother to join in and do so. He just stayed alert and looked around him for any biters that would probably be attracted by the gunshot. Suddenly, in the midst of everyone talking, a shelf fell down with biters behind it. The next idea for the group was to get the hell outta there. Everyone began to run out of the store, so Emre followed. He saw a few biters on the way to the exit, he aimed and pulled the trigger at them, unsure if he had got them in the head or not. He heard Jake shout his name, but with all that was going on, the danger, the running, he couldn't get a word out. He just continued to run for the door, shooting few more biters on the way.

For a moment Charles feared what would happen to Dannie as the shelf fell down, but he knew he had no reason to worry. She was a capable woman and could handle herself in any situation, back in Chicago she had saved his ass more times than he cared to admit. When Mia suggested for them all to leave, and when the others agreed, Charles had no choice but to follow their wish. However the stranger was still a problem and they needed to take care of him, sooner or later. With the gun pressed against his head, he listened to what Dannie said. She wanted him to protect Mia so she could get the medical supplies out of there, which was a clever idea he supported.
Charles grinded his teeth as he pulled away his gun from the stranger`s head, feeling bad for letting him go so easy. “Seems like today is your lucky day.” He spoke in anger, then witnessed the madness of the man, who went crazy and began to shoot every approaching threat. He`s nuts! Charles thought to himself. He turned to look at Mia, who seemed distressed by it all, she needed assistance and he was going to provide it. “Very well, I`ll get her out of her.” Charles replied to Dannie before he rushed on over, knowing she would be alright on her own. With the gun he carried he aimed at the walkers closest to Mia, in three consistent shots, he destroyed their brains.
“Come with me if you want to live.” He joked in a sincere way, reaching out his hand to Mia in hope she would take it and follow him. The quote he used was from a popular movie he had seen back in the day, and for some reason, it was too good not to use. Together the two went through the store, avoiding the grasp of the undead who never sought to ease their hunger. Those that got to close was killed quickly by Charles, his mission was to protect the girl and he was not to fail them.
Then as they were about to reach the exit of the store, chaos ensued and suddenly, another loud noise was heard in the back. Charles turned to look, and he could see Nate got himself into trouble. An entire shelf fell over him and he was stuck, someone had to do something if he was to survive! Forced to make a choice, to either leave Mia or go and help Nate, Charles froze. Everything turned slow, the clock ticking. As he came back to senses, he then decided to get Mia out of there first, if he could, he would go back and try and get him out of there as well. Reaching to grab onto Mia, he held her tight, knowing she probably would want to go back to see if Nate was alright.
Mia was pushing against Jake's back to get him moving. She held the crowbar tightly and shoved the flashlight into her back pocket. She swung at a walker that came too close to her for her own comfort. The crowbar hit its head and sent pieces flying. She had it gripped it both hands to give more force to her swings.
Charles was in front of her then, hand held out. Where was Jake? She didn't have time to think to hard about his line. She gripped his hand and ran with him. Her pack was heavy and kept shifting as she ran, throwing her balance a little bit. She heard shouts and gun shots. Her head whipped around as she heard a crash coming from behind them. Mia saw Nate. She stopped, jerking at Charles. She wanted to go and help Nate. He was pinned . She felt the world moved in slow motion as she watched the dead thing bite him! Half his hand! She screamed and felt arms slide around her.
Mia screamed, "NATE!!! Oh My God!!!! " she thrashed against Charles," let me go, I have to help him! NATE!" Her mind raced. He was bitten, the infection would spread! He would die! He would turn if they didn't stop it! His hand, it had to come off! Her head rocked back and connected with Charles' chin," for god's sake help him!" Tears ran down her face, as her arms reached for Nate.
Walkers were coming from all sides. Shots were being fired inside the store and she heard Mia screaming out for Nate. At the truck she had to think quickly. More walkers were stumbling towards the store and if they didn't get out of there they were as good as dead. Jake had the keys to the truck and she didn't have her patrol car. She cursed herself for letting them talk her into leaving it behind. She could do what she did back at the cabin and draw them away, but she didn't have that luxury anymore.
She grit her teeth and looked around her to see where she could lead this horde. The Walmart was the anchor store for the rest of the little stores and she didn't want to get herself trapped. There was only one way to go and that was back out towards the road. They would need the help.
She pulled out her shot gun and pumped it before firing off one loud shot towards a few that were head towards the store. Making sure she had some extra shells with her she started making as much noise as she could.
"Hey! Hey! Come on walkers! Come and follow me!" She aimed towards the front windows where they went in and fired off another shot towards another group of walkers. the spray hit the walkers, taking a couple down, but attracting the attention of many more.
"Come on! Come on!"
She would lead them away, just like she did with her patrol car, but this time, it would have to be on foot. She waved her arms and started to back up as she caught their attention. "That's right! Come on! Come and get me!"
She took a bit of a jog towards the road, giving everyone inside a chance to get out safely. They could pick her up on the road or she could run back. She was pretty positive she could outrun the walkers now although she knew she could get herself into serious trouble if more and more kept coming. She loaded another shell and fired off another shot to continue to keep their attention. The more noise she made, the more they turned away from the group inside and came out to get a meal out of her.

As everyone tried to make their way out, it was one big chaos. Running, shots fired, walkers coming, Jake tried to calm himself, but the adrenaline cause his heart to nearly jump out his chest. Jake was nearly out, he looked behind him and saw Charles was taking care of Mia. ‘Well at least he’s doing something good.’ Jake thought.
As he waited for the others to get closer to him he saw Nate running in the back, he was the last of their group that had to get out. He looked around on how Dannie was doing, but then heard a big bang, followed by Mia screaming. She yelled out to Nate, Jake turned is head back as soon as he heard her screaming. It took his mind some time to process, but Nate was under a shelf, probably dropped down because of the walkers pushing it. He was struggling against the walkers, he looked back to Mia who desperately tried to fight off Charles, she wanted to help Nate. “Mia, don’t I’ll get him.” He said as he started to run towards Nate.
As he made his way over, it was as if everything happened in slow motion. Jake saw how Nate lost his axe, followed by the worst thing that could happen, he got bit in his hand. In the back he heard Mia scream some more. Jake froze he stopped and it felt like his word collapsed, he failed once more, he couldn’t protect his friends. He was drawn out of his frozen position by a walker getting close to him, it was then that a side of Jake came out that was long buried. His heart filled with anger, Jake turned into a mad man. He stepped to the walker and instead of stabbing it, he smashed it with his fist, the walker fell over and Jake kicked the head and it splashed open. Then he continued to run towards Nate, He grabbed his gun from the holster with his free hand and started to shoot the walkers that where around him. When he reached Nate, he kneeled and stabbed the walker that bit Nate, but he didn’t stop, he kept stabbing. “Son of a bitch!” he yelled. Another scream of Nate, gave him a wakeup call, his friend was in pain, they needed to get out. “I’ll get you out, we’re going to fix this.” Jake said with sadness and panic in his voice. Deep down Jake knew that hand had to go and he couldn’t lose any more time, he learned that from someone of a previous group, that man had his leg removed because of a bite and stopped the infection. He had no medical knowledge, no clue on how to take care of it, so he decided they had to get out fist, so someone else could handle it.
Jake got back up, holstered his gun and left his knife on the floor. He used all the strength he had, to lift the rack, pushing it to the other side, letting it fall down on some walkers. Then he quickly grabbed his knife and started to kill some new zombies that got close. Then he holstered his knife and grabbed Nate from the floor. “You’ll be ok buddy.” He said softly as the two tried to make their way towards the exit.
Nate felt the painshootin through his arm, his vision going dark, like extra long blinks. He was breathing heavier, not an even pace. Blood ran down his hand to his arm, soaking around his shirt. His other hand was clamped around the wound, squeezing it trying to stop the blood from leaking out further, only to have no prevail.
The biters were still trying to get him, moving closer, the dead ones before them slowing them down, creating a wall. He looked around, the axe was to far, burried underneath the bodies. His bag was still on his back, but he couldn't reach the rifel. The space was to cramped to fire it anyway, and with one hand he couldn't hit a brick wall.
Nate tried to move back, pulling on his legs. He felt hot, sweating. Was he turning? Already? How long did it take. The kid at the camp, he lasts a long time, but he's as bit and they had to put him down. Just like they would have to do to Nate. He was going to die.
He looked over, hearing the sound of gunfire. He tried to make out Mia's shape, but couldn't. He wanted to say goodbye to her, one last time. Fuck what were his last words even to her. He couldn't remeber. He was going to die, without seeing her again, or Jake, or Hykeem. There was no saving him. He hoped they would get okay, be safe just this once. Head to Canada, it's safe there.
He felt tears on his cheeks, he didn't know if it was from the pain, or from the thought of dieing. He whiped them away with his shoulder, his hand still clamped around the other. Tugging on the shelf again he felt it shake, but he was still trapped. The weight of the shelf was coming down on his ankle, his other one behind him, awkwardly underneath.
Nate heard shooting, someone was runnig toward him. He saw Jake, shoot the walkers crawling in. Then the one who bit him. The man stabbed it again, and again, and again. Nate felt the blood hit him as another surgance of hot purring pain shot through his arm. He yelled through gritted teeth, biting down on nothing. He felt more blood running down his arm, some already starting to dry.
Jake spoke but Nate couldn't hear him, his head was pulsing, pounding like someone beating on a drum. He watched the man push the shelf and when his leg became free he yanked it out. Nate crawled back, trying to stand. Jake helped him after stabbing a few of the others. Nate leaned agaisnt the other shelf and Jake, his one leg weak under him.
As the pair began to walk forward, Nate still holding his hand tight he saw Mia, and Charles. They were there, ready. Dannie was leading the biters away, again taking one for the team. He didn't spot Emre or the shooter, but he knew they must be around. Once outside Nate stumble forward. His linp was worse, his bad leg being the one that was crushed. He dropped to his knees before them, he was exhausted, to much pain. He could hear walkers behind him, getting closer.
Nate felt someone help him up and stumbled toward the truck with them. At the truck he leaned agaisnt it, looking back at the trail of blood he left from the store.

Charles held tight around Mia as she squirmed in desperation to reach Nate, she wanted to go and check on him, but he couldn`t allow that. If he let her go, she could end up getting herself killed. Charles knew how tough it must have been for her to witness what just happened, he too had experienced the same thing and it never got any easier. The best option now was to forget about him and move on. There was no need to linger, the man was already doomed. The bite had made sure of that. “No! Stop it! We have to move on! There ain`t anything we can do.” Charles cried out, trying to reason with her, even Jake told her to stay put with him.
Then with a slam, the back of her head slammed into his chin. It knocked him back and in an instant, he lost his grip on her. Reaching to touch his chin that was hurt, he looked at Mia in frustration when all of the sudden a walker crept up behind him. The creature lashed out at him as it made a growling sound, but before it could take a chunk of his shoulder, Charles smashed his elbow into him, causing him to fall. “Fuck!” He said and shot it in the head as it laid on the ground.
“I told you to stay still…” Charles said angrily, looking to gaze at Mia who had taken the opportunity to run for Nate. “That piece of…” He restrained himself from finishing the words, wanting to go after her when he noticed Dannie trying to distract the roaming threats. She was shooting multiple shots to draw them away from them and it was clear to him she would soon get surrounded if she continued. Again, Charles was left with a choice, to go back and get Mia and possible assist in getting Nate out of there, or head over to Dannie and help her out. He chose the second.
With the gun in hand, he fired at those closest while he ran over to his motorcycle in the parking lot. Now he had the option to take their stuff and leave, but someone kept him there. Dannie was all he had left, and he wasn`t going to let anyone hurt her. Quickly he turned on the engine and drove over to Dannie, shooting the walkers he went by. “Get on! Quick! We`ll drive them off together!” Charles suggested once he stopped by her side.
Kelly was last to exit the store and with the jeans he was going to tie the front doors but it was electronic door, with a grunt, and a spit of tobacco he looked for another option. Looking above the answer came, "Thank you Lord," he whispered and with a decent jump he grabbed a hold of the metal sliding door that was hidden between a crack above the doors. Four years ago he remembered they haf several break ins before they got the sliding metal doors that went down over the main doors.
He slammed it shut just as they dragged a injured man by him, he was severely injured by the trail of blood he was leaving behind, and Kelly was nervous. Two rotters came at him on both sides but the big man grabbed their shoulders and slammed them into each other. They struggled to part but Kelly grabbed the backs of their heads and then slammed them together practically melting their heads into one of gush and gore.
As he headed into the burning light of day he saw the cowboy man taking off on his motorcycle after another woman, but Kelly made a b-line to his pack where his twin machetes were propped, and wielded them both. His eyes went to the injured man, "That arm has got to go folks before that infection spreads! Here," Kelly tosses them one of the machetes, "It was just sharpened yesterday so make haste with it. I also ain't no doctor but once you cut that arm off he'll surely bleed out if you can't carterize that stump."
Kelly looked around but his answer was quickly given to him by the running truck, "That muffler should be hot enough to sear the stump. Just cut, stick to the muffler, and load him up while I protect you from these stragglers that ain't following them."
Kelly set to work cutting a rotters head clean off, a big boot to one if their chests sends another down, and he stabs it in the head. He prayed they moved fast because if they didn't they'd have to deal with the man turning.
Mia ran up to Jake and helped get Nate to the truck. Nate leaned against the truck and Mia wiped her eyes with the back of her arm. She stared at his face. This was not happening to her, not again. She heard the large man from inside speak, and his words triggered her. She snapped back, the tears vanished and hard set eyes looked at Kelly as she took the machete from him." I'm not gonna let him die." She spoke through gritted teeth.
She felt the weight of the blade, and glanced at his hand. It looked as if bruising was spreading into his palm and the remaining fingers. That wasn't bruising, it was blood carrying the infection. She stared at Jake," I don't have the strength to get through bone, here" Mia held the blade to him. She grabbed Nates injured hand and pulled it, stretched the arm across the hood of the truck," now, one quick cut, straight down, here." She pointed above the wrist, they had to get beyond the infection or this wouldn't work. She stared at Nate's face," do it Jake! Do it now!" She held his arm taught, exposed for the blow. The big man was right, Nate would bleed out of the didn't cauterize the wound. Mia kept her eyes on Nate's face. This was killing her to have to do this, but if not they would be putting a bullet in his head.
Dannie had to fire off a few more shots, aimed for the walkers to draw them away from the Walmart. Of course, not all of them moved with the herd, but a good majority of them started to stray, giving everyone inside a chance to make it out safely. She had no idea that Nate had been bitten and what was about to transpire at the cars. She continued towards the road, still yelling to pull them away.
"Come on! Come and get me!"
She was trying to be as loud as she could to draw them, which also brought attention to other walkers across the street that she really didn't need in the fray. At least three dozen now were shuffling towards her and thankfully she still had her wits about her to move faster and get out of arm's reach quickly.
She heard the roar of the motorcycle engine and about a minute later, which actually seemed like hours to her, Charles was riding up and yelling at her to get on. She could either keep walking and lead them away or keep walking and lead them away. The choice was obvious. She jumped on the back of his Harley and hung on tightly with one arm, still aiming the heavy shotgun with the other. Good thing she was pretty strong. She spoke as she clung to Charles. "We have to lead them away. We have to give everyone a chance to get out of there."

Jake was glad they were finally able to reach the truck, Mia helped him getting Nate out. “Stay with me buddy.” Jake spoke to Nate. He was worried, he couldn’t lose more people. Jake heard how Mia said she wasn’t going to let him die. “I agree.” Jake said softly trying to keep his calm as he looked at her.
Jake saw Mia look at his hand and they both could see the infection spreading. “We need to hurry.” Jake said softly. Then Jake heard how Mia asked him to cut off Nate his hand, he was a bit overwhelmed and needed a brief moment to focus. Mia told him the spot he had to cut and insisted he hurried. Jake nodded closed his eyes and then grabbed the blade as some tears ran down his face, it was just all the emotions. He raised the blade, paused for a brief second, and then smashed in onto the spot. Blood splattered over Mia and himself, causing him to close his eyes. He opened them and saw the hand slowly slipping down the hood of the car, as the echo of Nate his screams stayed inside his mind.
Jake got dizzy from the blood, but he regained his focus and knew he had to be strong, he had to be there for Mia, they had to save Nate. He dropped the blade and looked at Mia. “Now what?” he asked worried. He didn’t even look around to check on the others, he hoped they would keep Mia, Nate and himself, safe while they tried to save Nate. Saving his life was most important now, it was as if the rest was blackened out.
