Charles had taken out his frustration on the crispy walkers outside, and as he headed toward Walmart with a loaded gun, Dannie caught up with him. She spoke and referred to what he had said earlier, she wanted to know what he had meant, and in reply, he answered for her ears only. “Look, I don`t doubt you can take care of yourself…I just…I just want you to be safe, afterall…you`re all I`ve got left, and I`ll be damned if I let those fuckers set you in unnecessary danger.” He admitted, feeling somewhat embarrassed by what he had just said. Was he about to go soft? No, he thought to himself and tried to remain cool. He certainly hoped however that she would understand, if not, he couldn`t blame her. He hadn`t exactly been the nicest toward her friends, yet she had given him hope, a hope that not everything in this world was dead and gone.
As they reached the front doors they could see the windows were partly broken, broken glass laid spread across the floor. With caution they went inside, and with each step they took, they could hear the glass crunch beneath their boots. Everything inside was dark, there was no way they could see where they was going without any form of light, luckily Charles had a flashlight hidden in his backpack.
Just as he was about to get it, Nate and the others entered, giving commands that he, Jake and Emre would check the back, while Charles and the girls should scout out the rest. “As you say boss.” Charles responded sarcastically and opened his backpack, reaching for his flashlight. With it turned on, he used it to light the way ahead for him, Dannie and Mia. With a quick motion toward the checkout section, he stopped and gazed at Dannie, saying. “Could be more inside though, we should flush them out before we walk any further inside, you agree?” He asked for permission, trying to be as friendly he could.
