It was cold here. Much, much colder then New York. She's not sure how she got out alive, but somehow, she did. The man that saved her from the train station mall helped her escape too many hordes and he died in the process. Of course, when he got hurt and the walkers got too close, there was no choice that could be made. His sacrifice would not be forgotten but she wondered how she would slough off the guilt that seemed to burden her mind. A few days into her escape though and he was easily forgotten.
She found another car, this one a little hybrid that could get her farther then she anticipated. It was parked at a gas station in Queens and looked like it had been abandoned at the gas pump. With no electricity, there was no gas flowing, but the nozzle indicated someone was trying to do just that and get out. A full tank of gas would get her far away from the east coast as she tried to get to the heart of the U.S.
As the snow came down she took great notice that the walkers had slowed down. She was able to stop and pluck supplies where she could. Random cars, campers and homes. She found homes that had been abandoned where she could make fires in the fireplaces and stay warm as the snow seemed unending. She hated the weather, but she enjoyed the fact the walkers had seemingly been frozen in place. She knew she was in Illinois somewhere, although she had no idea what city or town. All she remembered seeing during the snowstorm down the highway was a 'Welcome to Illinois' sign. It had been weeks since she had contact with other people and she feared the worst for her mind. She feared completely losing it as she fought where she needed to fight and scavenged as much as she could.
The snow had stopped this day, thankfully, and the sun was shining. There were still untouched piles of it on the road and she knew she would have to switch to another car that was more winter friendly. When the hybrid finally rolled to a stop devoid of gas she went to the closest subdivision called The Hills to continue her quest for a truck worthy of making it through the snow.
