The sky was greyish as Tory opened her eyes and groggily sat up on her cot. The sun was barely peaking through the skyscrapers and into the window. Are they really gone? It just seemed surreal, neither Michelle nor Kevin were with them. Sure, they had just met, but already their absence caused an emptiness. The teenager slid on her sneakers and laced them up, she did her best to be quiet despite the creaking of the cot. It had been a long day and she assumed a long night as well so she did her best not to wake anyone.
The girl tiptoed down the stairs and looked around but didnt see anyone. I can't be the first one up...someone's probably on watch...wherever they are... Tory opened the door to one of the fire trucks and grabbed her bag; she had forgotten all her stuff in it the night before. Her gun was still on the dash but she didn't think she would need it anytime soon. Where are the showers? These places have those right? She craved a bath, but the locker room showers would have to do.
"Ewww!" Checking the water to see if it was clean first, she jumped back. The rusty pipes caused the water to turn red. Seeing a rat run by in the corner and smelling mold, Tory made up her mind not to stay in there any longer than she had too. This place is pretty gross. She changed into fresh clothes after giving the shower a definite Nope and made her way back into the main garage.
The soreness of her body ruined any chance of keeping the previous night out of her mind as she sat in a chair she found laying around. Rubbing and stretching her legs she nursed her aches as she thought back to volleyball practices before the whole apocalypse thingy. ...thingy... She smiled in amusement at her own lack of thought cohesion. She had slept like a baby, but she still felt exhausted. "Hey." Tory offered to what sounded like someone headed down the stairs, hopefully someone with a plan. The sooner Kevin and Michelle were saved, the sooner they could get off the island and away from the horrors of the night before.
