"I ain't never killed a living person, Luca. Only walkers. Hell, I don't even know how to use a gun. Even I'm surprised I'm still alive."
Her voice barely rose above the sound of the water. Her fear was that someone would hear her say that and take full advantage of pushing her to the point where she had to. Maybe Luca saw that fear in her eyes as she said that, even though they both knew one day she would have to. Maybe he wanted to make her feel better about that, or maybe it was his own instincts that took over as he pressed into her against the cold tiles. She wouldn't stop him. Carpe minutam.
Remy looked up at him as she felt the tile against her back. The steam from the water was filling the room and she could hear nothing but the sound of the water streaming outside and the sound of her heartbeat inside. She knew they had to get back out to the people who had gathered, but honestly, she didn't know what to tell these people. They followed her and Luca and unexpectedly, more showed up. They had become her responsibility and she still wasn't sure how that sat with her.
She reached her hands to his chest, breaking eye contact as her wet hair clung to her cheeks and head. She closed her eyes as she felt him close to her and moving in even closer. She had so many questions for him and wanted to say so many things, but she knew she would have to pace herself. For now, she would enjoy the moment.

"You're still alive," Luca barely whispered as he took Remy's head in his hands and pressed his lips to hers, but only for a moment. "And that's what matters," he smiled and pulled some of the wet hair away from Remy's cheek. For a moment, he stood there, and everything was okay as he looked into Rremy's eyes. She then broke eye contact and pressed her hands to his chest. It was't long after that she closed her eyes. Luca leaned in once again and kissed her slowly and passionately for what seemed like five minutes, though it was probably much shorter than that. He placed a hand under her chin in an attempt to raise her gaze to his again.
"Maybe you'll never have to. Kill anybody, I mean. But you should know how to use...shit, this aint the time."

Remy took every kiss she could get from him. She never knew when the last time she would see him would come so even any small gesture of affection was welcomed. But this was no small gesture. She stayed quiet as he started to talk before quieting himself, pushing her wet hair out of the way. She didn't want to spoil this shower, one they both needed, with negative thoughts. They were here and they were alive and they were alone.
She looked up at him as he tilted her chin up, bringing her hands up his body slowly, clasping around his neck as she initiated this next kiss. She was more then willing to waste water for this moment. She wrapped one leg around his body, pulling him in tightly against the shower wall. This time, their second time together, was different. Back at the cabin it was an exploration of need. It was something they both needed to relieve pent up frustrations, angers and tension. Now, it was a want and for her, it was to secure that her feelings for him were blossoming into truth. She wanted this to make sure she could stick to her words that she would not leave him again.
The water was hot, adding to the heat between them as their ministrations began.
This time things felt differently. In Colorado, with Randall just in the other room, it felt unnerving. Almost accidental. It wasn't, but it had that feel to it the first time. This was organic, it was right, and Luca could tell that Remy felt the same way. He'd enjoy this, and enjoy her. Now wasn't the time for negative thoughts. They'd earned this, after all the shit and all the loss, they'd earned this. It was time to enjoy what they'd earned.
...
Luca pulled away, smiling, and panting a bit, but only lightly. He didn't quite know what to do now, it had been so long, and as he'd thought, the time in Colorado was much...well, weirder. He laughed awkwardly before speaking in a whisper. "You and me against the world, right?" His goofy, awkward laugh turned into a full smile, which he held for a few seconds before allowing it to fade due to darker thoughts.
"When I was a cop...I saw three kinds of criminals..." Luca was still speaking in a hushed tone, not wanting anyone else to hear this conversation with Remy over the sound of the running water. "The first kind were the most common. The ones who did bad shit to stay alive. Not even necessarily bad people, just unlucky. Or bad judgment. Bad situation. They did bad things because they felt like they had to...the kind of man I was before I met your group."
"The next kind, much less common. The guys who felt like they were doing good through their actions. You know, messiah complex or at least like they knew better than everyone else. I guess an example of that would be Adolphus..." Luca paused, almost winced. Bringing up that man needed to stop, keeping his memory alive was not something Luca wanted to do, but he felt like he had to here.
"The third kind, even rarer. Scariest kind. Comic book villains almost. Guys who had no code, no feeling of doing good. Didn't need to commit the crimes to survive. You know, the psychos. The ones who did it all for sport. I think those kinds of people scare me the most. They're the worst, I think..." Luca trailed off, obviously choosing his next words carefully. "You said what I did in Oklahoma was different from Adolphus because I didn't have a code. You said that as if...as if it made me better than him. But in my experience, having a code is better than being chaotic and, well, evil. So I guess, I don't know, what's more dangerous? A man with good intentions who's just in the moral...minority? Men like Adolphus? Or evil men without a code? Ones who kill to kill, who hurt...to hurt?"

It was what she wanted and it was perfect. Not too hard, not too soft, but just right for the both of them. He was strong as he held her up, a lot stronger then she would have given him credit for as he held her up against the shower wall. The surge through both of their bodies was enough to convince the both of them that this time was right. It was perfect. Her release was his as well and her body wrapped tightly around his as he sighed inside of her. Her lips met with his in a deeply passionate kiss. She knew in time, their comfort with each other would become familiar and their bodies would find a nice, steady pattern.
He laughed and smiled as she pulled away from the kiss, eyes still closed as whispered back. "You and me, Luca."
As her heart started to slow down he became far more serious. She desperately wanted to wash her hair but they could still speak and feel intimately during this shower. It was the first real time they had together. Even in the cabin, Randall was just beyond the door and could probably hear everything. Then all hell broke loose before a plan could be established. Even in the car ride from Colorado, Anthony was in the back for most of the ride and she wasn't terribly comfortable opening up to Luca, considering their relationship. She wouldn't have expected Luca too either in front of Anthony.
But he certainly went to a place she wasn't expecting him to. He wanted to talk about criminal element of this world.
"Luca, the man you were is not the man I know. I never met that guy even if you insist I did. You told me what you did, but you didn't tell me much. Maybe you want to tell me more or maybe not. Hell, I don't even know if I want to know."
She started to wash out her hair with the sweet smelling coconut shampoo while hogging the hot water. She wasn't sure how much time they had left, but Luca was not done with his comparisons. They were odd and skewed, or so she thought. Once she washed the shampoo out of her hair, she grabbed the soap and started to foam it up to wash his back for him. "You are better then him. His code was wrong. He saw us all as the carriers of the plague. That if we didn't join him, we need to die. Fuck Luca, he shot me. He fucking shot me and killed my friends and all we were trying to do was settle down in Miami." Her hands may have gotten a little rough as she said that moving the soap down his back before using it herself.
"Things ain't black and white anymore. When you were a cop, all you probably saw was the good guys versus the bad guys. It's not that easy anymore. Killing the living is wrong, no matter how you look at it. This is a world of lawless chaos and sometimes you have to be lawless to survive. That's what you did."
She wrapped her arms around him, pressing her chest into his back as she leaned her forehead against his back.
"I let you in because of what you did in Texas. That woman, those kids. What you said to me. You were strong when I needed strength and you may not have felt that instant connection, but I did. Do bad guys do that? It ain't my job to give you forgiveness for what you did Luca, but if you're looking for someone to tell you that you're not evil, then I'm telling you...you're not evil."
She let go of him and moved back to the water to rinse off, moving back around him as she looked up into his eyes.
"Are you?"

Luca listened to Remy's voice over the running water. They didn't have too much time before people would start complaining about hogging the water. Others may have wanted to shower, too. But, hell, they were being efficient by showering at the same time, right? She was doing her best to reassure Luca that he wasn't like the men he'd mentioned. He heard the hatred in her voice when she spoke of Adolphus. She wouldn't even say his name, and the pressure on his back grew as Remy recounted what that man had done. Luca thought he'd hated in his life, but he never spoke with such hatred as Remy did at that moment.
Was the world black and white? Had Luca seen it that way? No. He'd been a criminal as much as a cop. He'd never taken advantage of any drunk sorority girls...a few of his partners did, though. Devon, Simon, Nicky...they had. Men he'd never see again. No, Luca was a criminal in other ways. The deals, the bribery...he was the criminals' friend as much as the PD's. But that wasn't important. Maybe Remy was right, maybe that man was dead. He certainly hadn't been around for a while, at least not all the time.
"Evil?" Luca scowled for a moment at the question. "Who's evil? Men who did what I did? Men like me? Men like Adolphus? Or this...disease. This plague that turns people into walking, flesh-eating corpses? Or are they all evil? Or maybe none...maybe none. Or maybe we've never seen real evil. Maybe there are more men like that cannibal reverend, maybe there are people who want to hurt just to hurt. Maybe they're evil. But I think it's this...disease. Kills kids, men and women, for no reason. Tears apart families, that's the evil now." Luca shook his head, he was going on a rant. "No, Remy. I'm not evil. I'm...good. I'm a good man. I won't fail for a lack of trying."

Remy heard very little about this cannibal reverend, although she recalled something about it in Miami. A few from her group had run into this man and to her, that was evil. There were ways to eat without having to eat other people. But then Luca took the conversation in another direction...he called the disease evil. It was not anything she had ever considered. As a scientist, it was another illness, another virus, another bacteria, another mutation in the cellular structure of the body. It was to be studied and figured out. It wasn't something to control, just like every disease, pathogen and illness she had studied prior to that. It sparked something in her again. It made her desire to go to the college at first sunlight even stronger.
She had finished washing off herself by this time and when he finished, the spigot was slowed to a stop and she wrung out her hair.
"Diseases aren't evil Luca. They are nature's way of thinning the herd and this herd has been thinned beyond a reasonable doubt. You can't place a label on something that doesn't even know its own existence. Maybe I can get to the root of it all now. Maybe this is where I start."
She opened the shower door grabbing a few towels from a shelf where they had been neatly stacked before. She wrapped one around herself before moving back to him and gently wiping the excess water away from his face with the other. She knew, deep down, he wasn't a bad guy. She had been saying it all along although she wondered if she knew him before his group was broken apart, if she would feel the same way. She didn't acknowledge what he said about being a good guy or trying to at least. There was nothing left to say on it as far as she was concerned. If he was convinced that his conviction was true, then it was.
"We should get back out to the group before they figure out what you and me are up to."
