Ryder walked into the desolate broken small town with his crowbar in his hand ready to strike if necessary. He used to be able to join these warm summer days, but that was long in the past as he had been spending the last two years doing nothing but looking over his shoulder for walkers. He had seemed to grow accustomed to the sound of distant moans and groans of the undead out in the distance. Of course he was sure to stay ahead if he could. That day had been a mild one as he had only come across five or six walkers as he walked the several miles in search of a little shop to stock up on supplies. It looked like quite a few other survivors had beaten him to it. It looked like there was a small strip mall of sorts though farther out.
Maybe he could still find something worth taking. For once he hoped that luck would be on his side and that there weren’t any walkers around. Granted they were easy enough to hear as there was no noise interference. Then again that didn’t mean that there weren’t cut throat survivors sneaking around. He had come across several unfriendly faces in the couple of years he had started searching for his family. There were people out there that would feed a guy to the walkers just to save their own ass. To be fair, he supposed he would do the same if it came to his best friend. He needed to protect them and even though she was just as good as he was at taking out walkers he preferred she left everything to him.
Ryder stepped into the long abandoned pharmacy in hoping to score something of use as it was just about robbed of everything. It was then that he heard footsteps come from behind him causing him to immediately spin around with his crowbar in hand ready to take out whoever or whatever was following him around.
