Sarah clenched her jaw as Max started snapping orders," I handled it, she leaves, today!" She locked her eyes on Max," don't do this, don't undermine my authority, or none of them will listen to me." She spoke softly, just for those in the room with her to hear," we have to be a team, me, you and Abby, till Amber and the others get back." She stared at him, what was he going to do? He could barely stand. " Brian has to know I was serious and meant what I said, she's is dangerous and unpredictable and I won't endanger everyone for her." She glanced at Abby and patted her arm," help him." She let go of her arm.
Sarah glanced around and realized Jay was not with her. " I am gonna go get you guys food, and then we can talk." She was also gonna collect Jay. She's didn't want him around that woman.

Max glared at her. All he said was to help him up, nothing more. He didn't say he was going to do anything, just that he wanted up. Yet Sarah went off on him, over Fuckit authority. She wanted to control him take charge over everyone.
"For fucks sake Sarah. I wasn't undermining shit. I just wanted to get up, check it out. Do I not get a say, all of a sudden you're just in charge. Seems like you are making a lot of decisons without everyone else vote. If anything you are fucking undermining us."
He tried to stand again, this time rising up. He smirked at them. "Now why don't we go check on her together."
Abby stared at Max, he seemed angry at Sarah. "Max, please, she just doesn't want people to see us divided." She reached out and touched his arm after he stood up, "Calm down, you're injured, she made a decision, why is that wrong?" She sighed and glanced at Sarah, "I don't think he needs to meet her until she calms down, if she throws something at him, it will not be pretty." She glanced at Max, 'Sarah told Brian she wants her gone, isn't that a good idea?' Abby just wanted them to get along, infighting would destroy them. She didn't want to have to be in the middle of them, she loved them both.

"I don't disagree with the call but she didn't need to flip shit over it. I never said shit, yet she still blew her lid. She bitches an fucking whines about undermining and then comes and does the exact same shit. That's what I'm pissed at, not the fucking call," He said looking away. "Treats me like I'm the bad guy, going to go around killing everyone and throwing everyone out. You don't know what I went through, I'm not the bad guy, not any more. All this fighting and stupid shit, it shouldn't happen. We aren't divided. But if we don't ever discuss it we won't get any where. How are we suppose to leave when Charles doesn't even speak up? Some group."
Max didn't know why he was angry. Maybe it was the pain, or the thought of being stuck here. If theese people were trouble then they should deal with it, like they had. Throw the bitch and who ever she came with out, let them fend for themselves. "She won't kill this girl, yet will right out agree with Charles to kill one of our own. No wonder Charles cheated on her." He had overheard Becky and Amber talking about it on one of their runs. The radio was left on and he was their contact that day. As far as he knew he and them were the only ones who knew.
"I shouldn't have said that, I'm sorry. At least let me fucking talk to them. How am I going to judge if you won't even let me do that? She want's to throw shit then we throw her back. Get the SUV ready. Throw her shit in and we'll go drop the fucking broad on the side of the road like we did the one girl. You want to make the call you do it." He pointed to the keys all hanging on the hook. "Take them, her, and who ever fucking else came with her and kick them out. Don't give any supplies, or the car. She waisted enough medical supplies that we don't have shit on anymore. Brian tell you we were running low, almost out. Fixed to many people saving you am bringing back those girls. Another attack and people will die, we are out of supplies. So better yet, we take her gear, anythig she has outside. Payment for fixing her sorry ass, and then we dump her on the side of the road. Fuck ton away from here, will serve her good."
Sarah stopped in her tracks. She was going to ignore the things Max was saying. The best way to deal with his anger, she thought, until he calmed down. She hadn't expected him to say that. Her whole body stiffened.
Slowly Sarah turned to face Max." What did you say?" She stared at him and looked at Abby. His next words, an apology. He must have said that because of how she looked. Sarah held up her hand," do whatever you want, kill her, throw her out, kill the poor teacher she forced to help her," she sank down in a chair," I don't care." She couldn't believe it. Was he telling the truth? No, he threw that out in anger, to hurt her. Charles wouldn't do that to her. She looked at Abby for a moment," do whatever you want, I don't care." Sarah stood up and walked out of the house, letting the screen door slam behind her.
Max was acting like a petulant child, throwing out things to hurt her, since he didn't get his way. Fine! He could have it. She stood on the porch for a moment, the moved to the swing. There was no way he could know that. No way Charles would betray her, hurt her like that. Max was lying.
Abby just stop there dumbfounded as Max tore into Sarahi. When he said Charles cheated on her , she actually gasped a bit and sucked in her breath. He hadn't told her any of that. She was helpless to say anything as Sarah walked away. He had hurt her, that was very clear. She was walking away from it, from her role as a leader and told him to do what he wanted.
Abby stood very still for a moment, then finally spoke," damnit , Max, I swear to god, I hope you made that up, but why, why the fuck would you say that, now, of all times to drop something like that, why now?" She folded her arms," how do you know he cheated on her? And with who? I mean for god's sake, she was a teacher, she is doing the best she can and trying like hell to be a good person and a good leader!" Abby didn't know what to do. She glanced at the front door," I hope you plan to fix this!"

"Fix, how the god dam do I fix it Abby," Max said turning to her, "you wan't me to go back in time, make it so it didn't happen it did. Amber and Becky were talking over it on a run. They had the radio on, Didn't know I was there. Becky confessed to a drunken blowjob with Charles. The night at Fort Bragg. Apparently they were both drunk of their ass and took advantage of being alone when everyone else went to bed. Best part, Becky has a man too, cheated on him."
He looked at her, "I was just angry, I shouldn't have said it. But she wasn't going to find out any other way. It happened, now let's move on. She wants to make the call she better sam well follow through, can't run off when shit gets tough. Let's load the girl up, and her friend. We'll haul them off. She made the call let's finish it."
It was that kind of staring that Nancy had been afraid of in the first place. The doctor was saying something about being used to the ‘odd stare’ as if his missing leg was as bad as having a face like bad tanned leather. “Ya think jus’ ‘cause she went an’ got ‘erself knock’d up I’m gonna let her goggl’ at me?!” Nancy snapped at him, looking for a moment like she wanted to toss something at him too. The fact that the offender was pregnant gave her no leeway with the girl; in fact it made Nancy hate her more for it. Because that meant she had a man, that someone loved her, had made love to her. Meanwhile Nancy was going to die a f**king virgin because no one in their right mind wanted to touch Freddy Krueger…
“Dun ya stand there an’ lecture me’un ‘pushin’ it’ down’, ya sonnab*tch! Ya dun known sh*t ‘bout me, ya ‘ear!” the teenager hissed, furious at him for suggesting she put her injuries and trauma aside like it was a stubbed toe. Deep down, the idea scared her; if she let go of the hatred and resentment, what else did she have? You couldn’t depend on anyone but yourself in this world and if you went soft, you were good as dead. There was no way she had lived through what she had just to have someone f**k her over.
That was when the little brunette hollered the kitchen into silence.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!” she shouted and it actually made Nancy turn her head to look at the woman, the one eyebrow that could move on her face raised. She didn’t know Sarah, but even she recognized the hush that thunked into the room when she spoke like that. The shock wore off as she ranted however, the blonde’s hackles going up as she declared that she was done and she expected her to be out today.
That’s what you get for thinking you were going to get a hot meal, her stubborn acidic conscience snarked. Served her right for getting her hopes up about even that small luxury. She should have known. These cushy bastards had hoarded all their creature comforts and thought they could treat people however they liked. She would be damned if she was going to sell out to stick around and be stared at!
“Fine! I wasn’t plannin’ un stayin’ anyways!” Nancy snapped after her as she took the pregnant starer and lead her back towards the dining room where she could only assume the male voice hollering from was her partner.
Just when she wanted to throw something else, a boy approached, addressing her with such calm and kindness that it made Nancy take a half step back. He tried to reason with her, but Nancy knew it wasn’t going to happen. Already she could hear the heated argument going on in the dining room. The group had already decided and this kid, well-meaning as he was, wasn’t going to change that.
“Argh, f*ckit, kid.” Nancy growled, hesitant to take her anger out on him too. He didn’t look that much younger than she was, maybe middle school. “Nice try, but I ain’t stickin’ ‘round for what comes next.”
Grabbing the back of the chair, Nancy clopped it in front of her like the makeshift walking frame she had been using it for all morning and turned to head for the hallway. The doctor had been right, tossing that cup had been a bad idea, her leg ached more than before now from the jarring movement, but she grit her teeth and ignored it as she headed back towards the bedroom where she had awoken. She was going to collect her bloody jeans and flannel if they didn’t try and drag her out first. She would be damned if she was going to be tossed out into the yard in the damn floral dressing gown...
"You'uns bett'r gimme ma Remmin't'n back though!" she shouted half way down the hall, her hoarse voice crackling. "Y' greedy jaspers ain't keepin' it!"
She undercut her words by slamming the bathroom door loud enough to sound through the farmhouse.
Back in the tiled room where she had spent most of her time before dawn, Nancy pushed the chair to the bathtub and sat slowly down on the edge, leaning on the furniture for support. Once down, she unbelted the dressing gown, leaving her wrinkled, marred legs stretched out in front of her as she fished the stinking denim rags out of the tub where she had tossed them earlier. Inspecting them, she wrinkled her nose. It was going to hurt getting them back on, but she was pissed off enough to do it anyway.
A glance down at the bandages and padding on her thigh showed a bloom of blood showing through the wrappings, which explained why it was aching like it was. She poked it gently, trying to determine if she had torn any stitches, then huffed and decided it didn't matter. If she had, these @$$holes weren't going to do anything about it. And she was going to be out of here in a few minutes...

Brian looked at Sarah, the room going silent when she said that the girl had to leave. Brian didn't disagree, had she been able to walk out of here Brian would have gone along with it. Sadly the girl shouldn't be even up an out of bed. She was no better off than Max, shouldn't be out of bed.
He watched Sarah leave, followed by the girl. He moved along the kitchen to where Abby and Max were. Hearing the door slamb he looked at them.
"So what's the plan," he asked them, "I don't disagree that she should leave, but she physically can't. Max she has the exact same wpund as you, tell me you are able to walk on your own, where ever we left you. You can't can you. You wouldn't last a minute out there with that wound. We should wait until she's better, a week, maybe two. She will be walking then, and we can get her to leave then."
He looked down, "if not then we should get her to leave now. Someone able to drive should take her out, give her some supplies and then come back. The sooner the better."
Sarah sat in the swing. She was done, completely done. Should they vote and hash out everything every time something happened? It was a bit pointless. She didn't know what to do, right now and truth, she didn't care.
She rocked the swing back and forth and stared out into the yard. She didn't want to be in charge, not if it meant arguing and fighting all the time. Lord only knew what Max would say to her next time. Charlie didn't leave with Amber, did he? The Knight was still in the driveway. Sarah stood up, went inside and ran up the stairs. She would find out for herself if Max was a liar or not.
Abby didn't know what to say. She knew Satah hadn't made the decision lightly. She had just watched Max go off on Abby about not involving them in her decisions. She had reacted poorly to the scared woman and had caused all this. The woman's reaction was over the top, and that was her fault, not Abby's.
Abby glanced at Max, to see how he was reacting to what Brian said, and that was when Sarah came in. She was about to tell Sarah to join them, but the brunette bolted up the steps. A door slammed upstairs and it wasn't long till they could hear raised voices. The yelling last for a couple minutes and then they heard the door slam again. Abby looked wide eyed at Brian, then Max," is Charles up there? I thought he went with Amber this morning." She said aloud to no one in particular. She glared at Max," look what you did, this is not going to end well."
You could hear someone banging on a door," should we do something?" She looked at the two men and then the banging stopped. A door opened and sounds of arguinging could be heard. Sarah came down the steps and tossed some clothes into the room with Abby and the others. They landed on the sofa," here, give them to the woman." She looked at Abby , it was clear Sarah had been crying," I wish you luck, and I will be praying for you all." She wore a pack on her back. Sarah walked to the door and Abby froze," she's leaving." She spoke aloud, Sarah was leaving her, them. Abby gripped Max's arm," do something!"

"Is it really that bad he finding out? Would you rather her find out on her own, or hear it through rumors. Or worse, she could never find out. Would you want that, Charles cheating behind her back," Max asked looking at Abby, "it was the wrong time, I should have talked to you first. I said I was sorry, but it's said, done with, let's move on. I was angry, I said somethings, I could have said a lot worse."
Max was about to answer Brian when Sarah went past and he moved out of her way. She slammed the door. He heard the yelling and the fighting, silence filling the room. He looked at Abby and Brian, hoping one of two more calm people would do something. "Uh Abby, maybe you want to go check that everythig is okay. You know, before they break a window, or worse. Winter was cold remember, I doubt a contstand breeze in the house would help." He looked up the stairs, "may want to hurry."
Abby spoke and then Brian answred her. "Charles stsyed, Amber figured he would be better staying than going. After what happened last night. I'm starting to think that was a bad Idea."
Sarah came back down with a bag and clothes for the girl. When she was at the door Max could feel Abby gripping onto him. "Sarah, don't do this," he said calmly, "what about Abby, the baby. She'll need you. What about Jay. You can't leave. You shouldn't be the one to leave. Charles, he wouldn't want to risk you. You probably never want to see him again, so let him leave, not you. He would survive better than you would out there. We need you here Sarah. You are the sensible rock of the group. I want you to be there when Abby has her baby, to help raise it."
In the bathroom, Nancy was halfway through pulling on her crusted, stinking old jeans when the sound of footsteps banging overhead made her scowl, tilting her marred features up to stare at the roof as if she could figure out who that was by noise alone.
A door slammed and then an argument of raised voices; one female and the other male, started vibrating through the floorboards. Despite their bass volume, she couldn’t make out what they were saying but the gist of it was clear. She had her share of domestics back in the day to recognize one when she heard one. She listened for several minutes as doors were slammed, fists hit the house and footsteps drummed the floor overhead.
Sitting on the edge of the bathtub with the floral dressing gown rumpled in a heap on the tiles and her naked, wrinkled legs stretched out in front of her, the remnants of her jeans pulled up to her shins, she let out a deep breath and pushed aside those bad old memories. It didn’t sound like anyone was fist-fighting yet and that was something at least.
Memories of the night Pa tossed Bobby-Ray out into the front yard with a handful of clothes tried to fill her minds eye but she grit her teeth and reminded herself he didn’t deserve her feeling sorry for him anymore. She hated the bastard, wherever he was. He left her with Pa while he fooled around with those jarheads and then he left her in that truck to burn so he could run off with Kate….
“Hmph.” The girl muttered and put her head back down to continue coaxing on the ruined denim…
India decided it was time to go. There were too many people and too many arguments to be had with the new arrivals. She almost felt like her welcome had been worn out even though she barely stepped foot on the farm property. Before the sun rose, she packed up what she could and took off on foot. Where she would end up was beyond her, but she wouldn't get too far outside the farm. There were walkers and they were fresh turns. Not the slow, lumbering kind, but the faster, stronger kind. If anyone were to come into the main road, they would find her body, mauled and torn apart. Organs would be strewn across the ground and her backpack laying on the road for anyone to take her supplies.
Sarah stared at Max as he spoke. Did he hear himself, "her baby" hadn't he just been the one to rip her a new one for making decisions about the new comers with out talking to him? She shook her head and looked at Brian, 'I think she needs some serious help, the man who came with her Paul, he needs to stay, he's a teacher and I think he is a good guy." Sarah looked at Abby, 'It's too big here, too many people, too many opinions about what is best. I think it would be better for me to leave, and not throw out my opinions and piss everyone off." She glanced at Brian, 'you are right, she is injured, but why does she act like that with people who are trying to help her? " she shrugged her shoulders, "I just need to move on, " with that she walked out the front door and moved towards the Knight across the front yard.
Brian looked at Sarah in shock. She was leaving, actually leaving. What should he say? There was no stopping her, at least not now while she was like this. Sarah was strong, a survivor, but a different survivor than what was out there. Charles had kept her alive, he saw how he protected her. Then he betrayed her. He could understand her being angry. If his wife had done that, he's be furious, would storm out too. But it should be charles to leave, or st least explain himself.
He looked at her as she walked to the knight. Only she, charles, and Max could open it. He looked for the keys, were they still inside? This is it, she's leaving. Her last comment silenced the room and he looked around.
"Okay I think everyone just needs to calm down. We are all heated, and just need to cool off. We are supposed to be leaders, so let's act like it." He cleared his throat. "The girl, she's wounded, can't even walk. We can not make her leaver. She's my patient, and I want to see it through. Lastly look at what she's been through. It was obvious this was the only people who she's interacted with in a long time. We shot her, we stared at her. She probably felt like a freak. She reacted badly, but I know Max would react the same way. I say we give her time, let us all cool down. We can decide then, once our head's are clear."

Jay bit his bottom lip, trying to decide on what to do. He glanced around the room before taking a deep breath.
"I'm going with her if she allows me Brian." He stated before turning and going out the front door. He saw her walking towards the knight and quickly jog to catch up to her. If she really was leaving, then he wanted to come along. He's closer to her then any other member of their group so, for him, wherever she goes, He'd follow.
"Sarah wait. I want to come with you." Jay told her. He really hoped she said yes, he didn't want to worry over weather she was alive or not. He already lost his actual mother and he didn't want to loose his foster one too.
Sarah had walked out. She was actually leaving. She felt like she was about to fall over, she would if not for holding onto Max. She glanced at Brian," calm down? How do we calm down when we are falling they fuck apart?" She shook her head and picked up the clothes Sarah had brought down. She kept looking at the door, and that was when she heard Jay.
Jay, bless his heart. Abby looked at Brian as the boy left and went to follow Sarah." He loves her, she's like a mom to him, he means it, he will go with her." Abby felt fresh tears and she clenched her fists around a tee shirt and a pair of sweat pants," right now, you two need to fix this, I mean it, I don't care if you gotta crawl, but you better get out there and get her to stay or both their deaths are gonna be our fault."
Abby went to the bathroom door and knocked," hey, look, I am really sorry , I didn't mean to stare, but I have some clean clothes for you, if you want them?" She stood there and waited for the woman to answer.
Sarah stopped as Jay came closer and said her name.,"Jay, honey, I need to go." Then he said he wanted to go with her," aw, baby, it ain't safe, I'm not that strong a fighter and I couldn't keep you safe." Sarah was trying to reason with him, but she saw the look on his face. She had seen it plenty from her students. He wasn't going to give on this. If she left without him, he would follow her. She would be responsible for his death. The farm was the safest place for him.
Sarah stood staring at the boy before her. She reached out and grabbed his shoulder and clutched him to her, wrapping her arms around him. She held on tight and cried. She loved this kid too, and the fact that he didn't want to be without her, cracked her resolve ," alright , baby, I'll stay." She kissed his head , but still held him close," I'll stay, and keep you safe."

Jay wrapped how own arms around her and shut his eyes. He was glad that she wasn't going to leave or leave without him. He supposed that she guessed that he would still follow, no matter what. He enjoyed the closeness of his mother figure. He made a vow then, to make sure that this new family was safe, no matter what.
"Hey...um....Sarah?" Jay swallowed. "Is...is it okay if...I call ya..Mom?" He wanted to ask that since he got to the farm.
