Finally, they all arrived in New Orleans. It was a long drive, and Andrei would've liked to leave there and then, but he was exhausted. 15 hours behind the wheel and a few days of continuous stress took their toll. He was used to running on fumes for a while, but now he needed a rest. Once the convoy drew to a halt, he got out of the hatchback he and Holly rode in to stretch his legs, observing, from a distance, how the others were behaving. They decided to have a little fun with a walker that looked like she used to be a hooker, but Dallas did the smart thing and took it out of its misery. They were clearing Remy's old apartment building.
"We should crash in the neighbouring house" he said to Holly. "To close too them, and we might risk another situation like yesterday morning, too far and we're easy prey. Come on!" he gestured to her, heading to the back of the car. Opening the trunk, revealed 2 duffle bags stuffed inside, with Andrei's weapons on top. Whilst gearing up, he motioned to one of the bags. "Pick something from there. Preferrably something with a silencer. And a melee weapon, to be safe." he let her pick her weapons and then closed the trunk, heading to the neighbouring building.
Holly got out of the car and followed him to the back. She stared into the trunk as he spoke about where he wanted them to stay. she liked that idea. That Luca man, she just felt him wanting to kill them at any time. Holly hadn't said much on the drive, what was there to say? Mostly she had dosed off every now and then, but she always woke up herself. It would have been easy to pretend to be someone else, but she didn't want to. She needed to remember what it was like to be her.
She unzipped the bag and looked inside, her head turning to stare at Andrei, "Where did you get all this?" She spoke softly, a slight hesitation in her voice. She wasn't sure if she should question him, but she hadn't thought, she had just asked. "Sorry, not my business." She looked back to the bag and picked up a handgun, it had a silver looking piece on the front. She figured it was a silencer, she had played enough video games to know that. She grabbed a knife in a sheath and slipped it onto her waist band, then zipped the bag back up.
He lead the way towards the building next to the one Remy's group had gone into. Holly glanced around and followed behind him. She held the gun in one hand. She wasn't the best shot, but years of gaming had paid of some, least she had some idea. Holly grabbed his arm before he opened the outer door, "You sure you don't wanna be closer to the blonde? " She glanced at the other building, and let go, content to follow his lead. She looked up at the place, "This is alot to clear with just the two of us." She spoke softly, and when he opened the door, she went in. Holly didn't see anyone , or anything moving in the main lobby of the place. She saw a row of mailboxes on the wall, and counted, "2 apartments on each level by these." She went through the lobby, past the stairs and elevator. She stood outside the door on the right. She listened and knocked gently on the door, before trying the knob. It was locked. She glanced at Andrei. If something was in there, it wasn't getting out , so she stepped back and went to move on.
Aron stood near the entrance of the building, trying to watch the happenings out front from a far. Sasha and Luca were already handling it, there was no need for him to go and join in.
He was surprised to see Remy come over and speak to him. The two really hadn't spoken much and didn't really know each other at all. She told him to speak to Andrei and the girl and tell them to get them to go over to their building. "Alright. Consider it done."
The young Londoner stepped outside and jogged over to the other building. Unlike the others, he was still full of energy, he didn't get tired easily.
Aron went into the building, he could hear the two and followed the sound. He saw the two near one of the doors. Aron called out, he didn't have his weapon up or speak in a harsh tone, he wanted to show that he was friendly.
"Hey. It's Aron." He showed his hands to them to show his weapon wasn't out. "I'm not looking for trouble, just trying to help. This place is gonna be a lot to clear for the two of you, you've gotta be exhausted by now. Come stay with us, for this one night, Remy wants it that way. We'll decide on what to do in the morning. Now, I can't force you to do anything but even if you don't think it, you'll be safer over there. It'll be easier this way."
Post by Dan-Andrei Moldovan on Aug 9, 2015 15:30:06 GMT -5
After the bag was opened, Holly asked the obvious question. Where did all that come from.
"When we went into Bear Lake to get some cars, I snuck off and picked up what weapons were left and some meds." he spoke whilst heading for the building. "At this point, the farther we stay from them, the better. I don't want some to get the bright idea of killing us in our sleep."
In front of the building, she remarked that it's quite big for the two of them. "If we go in guns blazing, yes, it is. But we'll keep a low profile, and it should go smooth. And we'll take our time doing it."
Inside, he let Holly check the door on the apartment on the right. Locked. That was good, it made things easier. He took up position next to the door on the left, and waited for her to come as well.
"One less apartment. We'll probably block that off for the night, to avoid any complications. Ready?" he asked her, calmly. Whist preparing to enter, someone came. Andrei recognized the guy, he'd traveled with them for some time; Aron was his name. Brit. He had the right idea, first announcing his presence and then showing himself not wielding a weapon. It seems Remy would've preferred they all stayed under one roof for the night. Made sense, though it would complicate things. Andrei looked at Holly for a second and could tell the idea of spending a night under the same roof as Luca wasn't pleasant for her.
"Look, mate, you saw what went down the other day. As far as I see it, it'd be best if we stay separate from you guys. However...I will talk to Remy about this, and since you're here, why don't you help us?" Andrei asked Aron. "We'll clear this apartment, and then block off the neighbouring one and the stairwell. That way, if things go awry tonight, we don't have to sleep in the car or something. Sound ok to you?"
Holly stared as Aron and Andrei spoke. She didn't want to be that close to the cop. He wanted to shoot her, and Andrei. Hell, dig their own graves, he was cracked. Holly didn't trust it. She cast a look at Andrei , and he picked up on it right away. He said he would speak to Remy, good.
He asked Aron to help them and she looked at Aron. Was he like the cop? Did he just see them as traitors, or was he willing to accept that not everything was black and white, and people did what they had to , to survive. She waited and then leaned close to Andrei, and spoke softly, "I'm sorry, I just don't trust that man, if we stayed in that building, I would barricade myself in one place, I am not gonna play games and take pictures with them." She saw them when they first arrived, and she couldn't believe it.
Holly backed up and looked at Aron, she spoke softly again, "No offense, but I don't trust that man, or that woman."
Aron waited nervously for the response, knowing that it was going to be an argument he had little chance of winning. The Brit had suspected the outcome he eventually got, they felt safer away from the group.
"And I don't blame you for thinking like that, if I were in your shoes, I would be thinking the exact same thing. Remy's not going to be exactly pleased but if you're gonna talk to her, it's something, at least." Aron responded to Andrei's proposal. "Seems good to me. Got nothing to do back at the other place."
He watched as the two began speaking to each other in what seemed like a private discussion. He watched from a far, not wanting to intrude on their conversation, he wanted to show that he was different from the others.
Aron spoke honestly to Holly when she said that she didn't trust some of the other group. "Well, that's fair enough, I think being told to dig your own graves is enough to think that way. But, they're not all that bad. In your case, take away those two away and the group isn't that bad. And even those two aren't so, Remy's on the up because she's made it home, I can't say much about Luca, he just has the tendency to explode whenever things turn sour."
The Brit put his hand out and asked the girl a question. "I'm sorry but what was your name?" He wanted to be polite, the girl looked shaked by it all. The others only referred to her as the redhead with Andrei, it was better than being known just by the colour of one's hair.
After a response, he'd take his axe out of his bag, ready to clear the apartment.
Holly stared at Aron as he spoke to her. He seemed nice enough and actually seemed to understand how she felt. She still kept Andrei between them though. He extended his hand and she glanced at Andrei. He knew these people better than she did, and he didn't seem guarded, well, not to much.
Holly reached out and took Aron's hand, "Holly." It felt strange giving her real name, she'd made up names for almost two years and now being herself felt different. She shook his hand quickly and drew it back.
He was gonna help them clear the place. That was nice of him. She smiled just for a second and glanced at Andrei before stepping back. She held the gun in her hand and reached up to touch her face. She hoped it didn't look that bad. The cut was healing, but it pulled when she had smiled and made her remember it. Bear Lake seemed like a lifetime ago and all she really wanted to do was clear this place and sleep.

"Fantastic." Andrei reacted to Aron agreeing to help them make this place habitable for a day or two. The fact that the guy took the time to actually get to know Holly was even better. Andrei knew he was with them for a while, but never really got to know much about Aron. From what he could notice, the brit had a level head and was pretty helpful.
Now came the fun part. Andrei drew one of the short swords in his right hand, his left shoulder in the door and left hand on the knob. He looked at Holly and Aron, checking to see if they were ready to go on. Once they confirmed, Andrei turned the doorknob, and pushed the door open, releasing the ever so familiar smell characteristic to closed space. Once it was open, he sheathed the sword and drew the bow, keeping an arrow ready, and then knocked on the open door. Listening carefully, he could hear a few walkers coming to life, yet they weren't moving any closer. Strange.
"Something's fishy here...stay close, check your corners and have your melee weapon ready." Andrei instructed the two before drawing on the bowstring and heading inside. From the small hallway, he moved straight ahead into the living room and kitchen. The place was surprisingly clean, which prompted him to wipe his finger on the coffee table. Not even a speck of dust.
"Shit" he cussed. "Someone's been living here. Stick close, and step where I step. We need to check this out." Andrei began moving slowly towards one of the bedrooms, from there the walker moans and gurgles originated. Each step he checked for traps and tripwires, avoiding stepping on rugs and carpets. At the door, he looked behind, checking that Holly and Aron were ready, again and pushed the door open, moving inside, weapons ready. Since this all started, he'd seen some messed up shit, but what was in the room topped everything.
A walker lay on the bed, held down by handcuffs with pink fluff on them, one on each limb, and a studded leather collar on it's neck, with a chain attached. This walker was pretty old, barely any skin left on it abdomen and face, but the tissue under the cuffs and collar wasn't as damaged as it would be if it lay there since the start. The explanation as to why it was there was found opposite the bed, inside the closet. A man with long straight white hair hung from the bar which held a few coathangers. He was naked. Groaning and moaning, he was trying to reach out to Andrei, to grab him. During his...exercise, the man hung himself and died, having turned into a walker.
"He died recently. No less than 8 hours. See his feet? His blood started to gather there, and now they're swollen and reddish-purple. Crazy son of a bitch. I could never get these autoerotic asphyxiation morons."
It didn't seem odd for Aron to take time to get to know Holly, it just felt like something of good spirit. He didn't see the two as enemies like some of the others, one look at them had made it clear to him that they weren't like the rest of Adolphus's men. It seemed as if Adolphus and his men acted out of pure evil, he doubted that the two stood next to him were the same.
With his axe ready, Aron was ready to enter the room. "Ready." The Brit nodded to Andrei to show him that he was ready to enter the room. He felt nervous to see what was inside but confident of his abilities to kill anything inside. Unlike a lot of the others, Aron's primary weapon and for a long time, his only weapon was his melee weapon. So any walkers up close were easy.
The smell was something he had gotten used to, he had almost completely ignored it because it seemed as if everything smelled these days. He waited as Andrei knocked on the open door, there was a sound of walkers, yet they were not moving closer. He didn't understand.
Aron entered the room after Andrei and Holly, he had his axe close for when it was needed. He was ready and alert to react if needed. He had his eyes mainly focused on Holly out of the two, believing that Andrei was more prepared, considering he had taken the lead. Andrei mentioned that somebody had been living there and told the two to stay close and step where he steps. "That's the plan."
He waited close behind Andrei and entered after him. This would probably answer the question about why the walkers had not moved towards them, something he was both excited but nervous to see. "Charming." Aron said sarcastically upon entering. On the bed was a handcuffed walker with a chained collar around his neck, a hung naked walker opposite the bed, inside the closet.
"Right, where to start." He moved towards the walker on the bed and swung his axe at the walker's skull. Aron awkwardly moved towards the naked walker, his head raised and trying to look away, he knew it was a walker and didn't care if he looked but it felt weird. "Um, I hope you enjoyed yourself, before uh, you died." He said before putting down the walker. Aron turned back to the other two. "Well, that was uh, interesting." Aron said with a confused expression.

Holly didn't have trouble killing dead, but this was just so....strange. She stood there and just stared, mouth slightly opened. Her gun was still in her hand and she could have shot them both easily, she just couldn't. She turned Crimson when she realized what had been happening with these two before they died. She turned her head and then just left the room.
Andrei had said to stay close, but she wasn't staying in that room for one more second. She stood in the hall and leaned for a minute. People were all fucked up. Hell, she had thought a Lot of what went on with Dolph was the dead coming to life, but it was true. She had known it all along, which was why she stayed in her apartment most of the time, before all this. Holly had made herself a recluse for a reason and now she remembered why. People were just fucked up, period.

"Call it as it is...this was fucked up." Andrei said to Aron. He noticed Holly had left the room, but who could blame her? People were 100 times worse than the dead walking around. Andrei started looking on the floor, and sure enough, he found the pervert's pants lying there. Rummaging through the pockets, he found the keys to the handcuffs along with a few other things. A dead cellphone, a wallet with money inside, keys, a few old receipts. It seemed this guy wanted to live as normal a life as possible.
He turned to Aron, shaking the keys for the handcuffs to make it obvious he had them. "I'll take her out of here, you take him?" he asked, soon after starting to open the handcuffs on the putrid walker, after which he wrapped it in the soaked bedsheets. Thankfully, under them was a piece of plastic covering the mattress, so it wasn't soaked in walker fluids. He chuckled. "Heh...seems he wasn't such a delusional idiot, after all."
After covering the dead was done, Andrei opened the windows and said to the two "We should check out the other rooms as well. Don't want any surprises." And with that began the boring task of making sure nothing was hiding in the rest of the apartment.
(I'll leave it up to you guys, if we find something of interest)
This one room was certainly a messed up room, full of what used to be messed up people. It didn't feel right for Aron to even be in the room of the fucked up people. The sooner that they were out of the room, the better.
Aron turned his head to see that Holly had walked out of the room. There was no way he could blame her for not wanting to be in the room. It would probably be better if it was Andrei went over to see if she was alright because he actually knew her, but he wouldn't mind doing it if needed.
"It certainly was. I've always said that we're much worse than the dead, anyone who disagrees hasn't been looking hard enough." Aron believed that he was right, two years into the mess was enough information to observe. All walkers wanted was to feast on the living, people had control over themselves, unlike the walkers, control to do whatever they pleased, no matter how sick it was.
The jingling of the keys from Andrei notified Aron that he had found the handcuffs. "Good eyes." Andrei asked Aron to take care of the man, whilst he would take care of the woman, Aron had came to help, so he wouldn't say no. He pulled a bedsheets out of the wardrobe and moved to deal with the man.
After the covering of the dead was done, he let out a sigh of relief. "Well, let's be honest here, it can only go up from here." He held tight on his axe, ready to finish what they had started.
Holly couldn't handle that, not now. It was one thing to get rid of them, something else to analyze what happened. She stood in the hall for a moment, listening."I'm fine" she muttered and then opened the bathroom door, it was next to her anyway. No noise had been coming from it, so she was fairly sure it was safe. Empty. She would check for supplies later. She moved down the hall, listened at the second bedroom. Tapped the door. Nothing. She opened the door and waited. It was empty.
Andrei wanted the whole place checked and from the looks of it, this place was empty except for the two in the bedroom. She went to the living room where they had come in and stood very quiet, listening. She heard some kind of sound, from the kitchen. She moved towards it slowly. Her eyes darting around. The light was starting to go outside and she glanced at Andrei," flashlights?" She looked at Aron , who true to his word was helping to clear the place. She entered the kitchen and listened , it was a odd sound. She started to open up doors to cabinets. It sounded like scratching.
Holly jumped a mile and ended up in one of the kitchen chairs as several mice came running out of the cabinet. She slapped her hand over her mouth as she squealed . Such a normal reaction, but mice were far less scary than the dead.
Post by Remy LaCroix on Aug 20, 2015 6:47:02 GMT -5
Remy slowly pushed the door open as she looked towards the stairs and opened apartment doors. The were clearly starting to clear the apartments. Aron hadn't come back yet with good or bad news about the pair coming or going, which meant he was helping them in some regard. Not that she cared, but he knew when the sun went down she wanted everyone locked in, and it was going down quickly now. Long shadows were cast on the ground from the buildings on the west side of the street and the overgrowth of trees made it seem darker then it really was.
"Aron? Andrei? You down here?"
She stayed at the door, holding it open before finally moving inside. She knew the worst case scenario would be finding them dead and being consumed by walkers. Best case scenario, they were already safe inside one of the apartments and she knew Andrei would not stand for being eaten by walkers. They would have run first.
She heard voices inside the apartment to her left and she went to the door, pushing it open slowly as she heard a kitchen cabinet slam shut. Her gaze snapped towards the wall and she went to it, watching a few mice scrambling past the opening and seeing the unknown redhead standing before her. All she could do was stare at the girl that Andrei was protecting. It was an awkward silence as the startled girl stood there looking shocked at what she found...mice. She wondered how this girl got on with Adolphus if she was scared of mice. Hell, she was a mouse and she was lucky that Adolphus didn't exterminate her. Maybe there was more to her relationship with the old, crazy bastard. "We're locking down next door. You coming?"
Aron walked over speedily when Holly mentioned that there was something making noise in the room. It seemed to be coming from the cabinets, that suggested that it was probably an animal of some sort.
When Holly had opened the cabinet, Aron watched as a family of mice all began running out at them. Holly's reaction had made Aron chuckle. He understood why she had reacted that way, but seeing someone jump in the air and leap for the chairs was amusing. He was used to the creatures, he had been around them and similar animals back when he was on the streets of London.
The Brit heard a voice. "You guys hear that? And I think it's something a little less micey." It had sounded like a human, he didn't hear enough of it to know if it was male or female or even if it was a member of the group. He had his axe ready if it needed to be used.
Aron hadn't come back yet with good or bad news about the pair coming or going, which meant he was helping them in some regard. Not that she cared, but he knew when the sun went down she wanted everyone locked in, and it was going down quickly now.
Then there was the creak of the door knob as it turned to open the door. Aron silently pointed in the direction of the door, for the others to see. Aron chuckled, he was relieved to see Remy standing there instead of a random stranger. It felt like Remy was some mother, coming over to collect her child from school. It probably meaned that Aron had not gotten his job done in time, oh well, he'd try and talk his way out of it if he needed to.
"Right now? Ah man, I'm sorry to leave you guys mid clearance." It was probably best that Aron went with Remy, if they were locking up, he didn't want to be shut out, he hoped the other two could understand. He looked behind, offering a smile, he gave them the opportunity to say if they were coming or not, though he guessed that they'd probably stay. It was up to them now.
Post by Dan-Andrei Moldovan on Aug 22, 2015 17:09:51 GMT -5
Andrei was right behind Holly whilst clearing the house. Everything seemed to be in order, but it didn't hurt to be thorough. In the kitchen, once she started opening cabinets, he could hear the odd sound as well. Scratching. Holly pinpointed the source of the sound. Mice. The fact that she jumped at the sight of them, terrified, was quite amusing. It reminded Andrei of those old cartoons, in which housewives would be scared to death of them. Still, for her sake, he refrained from laughing, and only chuckled.
Their comedy moment was interrupted by a voice calling out. Aron was already on his way to check it out, and Andrei followed him, bow drawn. It turned to be Remy, asking if they were going to go to her building, and lock down there for the night. Aron took of, almost like he was a kid who was told by his mom it was time to leave his friends' house.
"No problem, mate. We can handle whatever's left." Andrei replied to the brit, then turning to Remy. "Look...don't take this the wrong way, but I don't think that me and Holly stay under the same roof as you guys. You saw what happened the other day. I'd rather we keep the drama and tensions to a minimum. We'll stay here for a few days and leave when we're at full strength." after a short silence, he smiled at her. "You did it, Remy. You got home.
Holly slowly got down off the chair , hearing Aron call their attention to a human voice. She gripped the gun hard, but stayed very still in the kitchen. The blonde came I. And she just stared at her.
Holly glanced at Aron as he apologized and made to leave and go back to the others. Her eyes shifted back to Remy as Andrei spoke to her explaining. Why would she even think they would join in with them after what that cop did and said? Were they just supposed to forget he was a total asshole? That was not going to happen. She moved up behind Andrei and placed her hand on his back. He understood," I won't stay with that cop, he's as crazy as Dolph was." She spoke softly but Remy probably heard her. Andrei and Remy had something once, she could tell by his last words to her. Holly let her arm slip from his back and she left the room. She went Nd sat in the kitchen, gun placed on the table. A passing thought had scared her. How easy it would have been to just shoot Remy just then. Holly put her head down on her arms. What was wrong with her? Why would she even think that? She was free. She didn't have to hurt anyone anymore.

Remy kept her distance from the trio and when Aron broke away from the pair, she offered him a soft smile and a nod that he would be coming back. She looked back towards the door before looking back at Andrei and the girl as he spoke. He called her Holly. At least now she knew the girl's name. She had little trust for the girl who she saw traveling with the enemy. But Andrei was protecting her for some reason. She wrapped her arms around her waist as she looked at him sheepishly. She knew Holly didn't want her to hear those words, but she did. She clenched her jaw and subdued the words that wanted to come out as she kept her composure.
"I wouldn't have let him kill you or the girl, Andrei. He's just..."
She paused for a second, thinking about him being calm and reserved in the apartment downstairs across the way.
"Protective. He thought you were going to hurt me. He saw you with the enemy. He shoots first and asks questions later."
Maybe this was getting a little uncomfortable for her to talk about him without him being at her side to defend himself. Then again, if he was here, it was likely he would fly off the handle being compared to Adolphus. There was a bit of a waver in her voice as she spoke her next words. There was truth to them and she felt it deeply.
"He's not like that. Not at all. You just don't know him the way I do."
Since they decided they were going to stay in another building, she would let them. She told everyone her plan and if they didn't want to go along with it, that was their choice. She wasn't about to force her agenda on anyone. This was her home, not theirs. When Andrei spoke in an almost congratulatory way, she turned to head back to her building and spoke in a soft, gravely whisper.
"Yea, I am."

Aron was ready to head back to the other building, after the others were done talking. He sensed the discussion was going to be awkward, considering the tension between the two groups, a tension he wanted to eliminate.
The Brit was glad that Andrei and Holly decided to accept his apology. He hoped that he proved to both groups that the two could still co-operate. He hadn't quite achieved convincing the two to join the others but he did show them that he had no hard feelings toward them.
Aron wasn't surprised to hear that Andrei and Holly had no intention of coming to the other building, if he were in their shoes, he'd of done the same. Luca was the main reason they didn't want to come to the other building. From what he heard, Andrei and Holly believed Luca to be evil and Remy believed he wasn't, Aron felt somewhere in the middle about Luca, he didn't seem to be as crazy as Adolphus but it seemed that his temper always got the best of him and it felt as if he was allowed to get away with his behaviour. "If he'd killed you, he'd probably of been killed that day also. That's why you don't see Dexter anymore, he turned on another and got killed himself, it's been the same Luca. "
Aron wasn't quite sure if that was true but just decided to go with it. He didn't think that Luca wanted to harm them now, Aron believed it to be just a spur of the moment thing. If they took Luca out of the picture for a moment, none of the others wanted to harm them and he genuinely believed that Luca didn't want to either.
"Well it was easy for you, you were on the right continent. Unless I find a boat of something, it looks like I'm stuck here." He said in a sarcastic tone, to lighten the mood. There was no way he wanted to go back, whatever he had back at home, he had much more of it here. Whenever Remy was ready to go, he'd get going.

Andrei found Remy's defense of Luca somewhat insulting. Protective? Don't know him like she does? Saw Andrei with the enemy? Holly had a valid point, and only confirmed his suspicions. There was only one response that could've come from Andrei.
"Bullshit." he said to Remy. "Remy, we had nothing to do with that random dude coming up the hill and shooting people. We were, literally, minding our own business to the side. So, tell me, how were we going to hurt you, since Holly was unarmed at the moment? Furthermore, telling someone to dig their own grave, isn't a way a sane person responds to a perceived threat. I don't know him like you do? He's not at all like that?" At this moment it hit him. She was in denial. She refused to believe the man was one step away from becoming the next Adolphus, so his words would fall on deaf ears. But, the fact did amuse him a lot, for some reason. Andrei found himself unable to contain his laughter.
"Oh, this is rich." he said after a few moments, after he stopped laughing. "Wait just a minute!" Andrei said to Remy and rushed to the nearest table. There was a small one in the hallway, with a landline and a notebook next to it. He ripped a page, and hurriedly scribbled something, passing the note to Remy. The contents were simple:
"You are going to experience these 5...well, 4 sentiments with Luca.. I guarantee it."
Andrei was aware he was an asshole at the moment, but that was a part of him he'd accepted a long time ago. Hoping the subject would be changed soon, Aron intervened, saying he was stuck here unless he found a boat.
"You and me both, mate. And that's what I'm gonna do. I'll be heading back to Europe soon. You're welcome to join, if you want."
