Acer chuckled as she spoke about his toys. Honestly, he never touched them. They were for the men inside. He had a bit more refined tastes then the women that were housed in his mansion.
"Cade. That poor boy has no idea what he's in for." He shook his head and looked back over his shoulder at Colette as she continued to walk away.
"If I were to touch you, you wouldn't want me to stop." Maybe one last little dig as he continued to survey the perimeter around the mansion. He had to finish and get back inside to tend to the newest guest, Ivy. Once he was done with the front, he went around the side where a lone walker was shuffling towards him, hungry and gnashing rotted teeth. It was easy enough to dispatch with a quick chop of the machete to the skull. All seemed well enough and he headed back to the front where they would be locked in and secured for the night.
Ivy had been served some of the left over alligator meat from the night before and as he came back through the front door, the shifting of guards around the house was changing also. Day guards were coming in and night guards were going out. Two on the roof, one on the top balconies, two on the front and back porches. There was always room for more guards.
"Ivy, you still here? You haven't run off on me now, have you?"

Ivy was still on the same spot Acer left her. She just finished eating and was taking one last sip of the water. “Of course I’m still here.” She said with a smile. “I wouldn’t dare to walk out the guy that saved me.” She said as she smiled at him. “Actually I haven’t felt this safe for a long time.” She added as she slowly got up.
She walked over to him. “So everything safe outside?” Ivy asked as she looked him in the eyes. Then she sighed. “There is something I have to tell you though.” She said softly. Again acted like a sad hurt woman, hoping to hit a weak spot with Acer.
The safety of this complex was none of her concern. She was a stranger in a new place and he would answer nothing about the security of this mansion. Instead, he changed the subject as she did. He remained standing and looked at her as he set the machete down. Turning back to face her, he hooked his thumbs into the pockets of his jeans and looked at her suspiciously. If she wanted to drop a bomb on him then her choices would be limited on how long she would stay here...willingly.
"Oh? Do tell. If it's one thing we do not keep here, it's secrets."
Everyone laid their cards out on the table when they came here so he knew what he was dealing with. In all reality though, that was a bold face lie. There were secrets in this house but new faces wouldn't know what they are and he wasn't about to spill them. Anyone that did, faced his wrath and that was a dangerous thing.

Ivy thought it was a bit strange he didn’t reply to her first question, but then again she was still a stranger. When she felt home somewhere, she had the habit of forgetting stuff like that. Ivy watched him take sort of a stance, he hooked his thumbs in his pockets, before telling her they didn’t like secrets in the house. Ivy got the hint, he was trying to make clear it would be stupid to keep secrets.
“It’s nothing bad.” She said in her same French accent. This time she was speaking the truth, she was about to tell Acer about her horse. There was no way she was already going to share her dark history with Adolphus, cause maybe they didn’t like crazy bad people like her around here. She just had to find out more about time, before sharing things like that. “I’m not alone.” She said with her false but yet stunning smile.
“No worries, I don’t mean other people, but I have a cheval.” She said before pausing and thinking. “A horse.” She added. “She is of great value to me and I know I just got here, don’t know if I would be allowed to stay, but just thought it would be best to tell you that already.” She said as she looked into his eyes. Ivy loved to talk Franglais, but whenever a talk got serious she watched her words and spoke mostly English. Besides there was still her French accent even if she spoke English. “Hope that isn’t a problem.” She said an adding a small wink to ease the news she just told him.
Ivy knew it wasn’t wise to tell them about the horse, it was sort of her weak spot. But then again she needed to create trust and she wanted her horse close by, so she had to.
Acer raised a brow as she spoke a bit in her native tongue. He had heard the word cheval before but never associated it with anything. With half the population dating back to immigrating French, many words were thrown out here and there. But she clarified the meaning to be horse.
"A horse. You have a horse?"
He knew that would be trouble. He knew the animal would be seen as a valuable resource of food and bone instead of a creature to be ridden around on.
"A horse in the city is ridiculous, Ivy." He turned back to the piano and grabbed a bottle of water. Before continuing, he took a long sip of the lukewarm water before turning back to her.
"We do not have the means to feed a horse. We do not have a way to make horseshoes and I won't waste my resources on it. You want to keep your horse? You either ride off and park it somewhere else, or you keep it far away from here. Otherwise it will be seen as a source of food for us."
To him and his men, animals meant food and if she wanted to keep her 'pet' it meant she would have to comply.
"We offer safety and shelter Ivy. It is your choice."

Ivy smiled as Acer asked if she really had a horse. “Yes I do.” She said with her famous smile. But her mood changed as Acer told her a horse in the city was ridiculous, she was smart enough to keep smiling but her inside was burning of anger.
Then she watched him grab a bottle of water and took a sip of it. Seconds later he continued and told her they didn’t had the means to feed the horse. The he even called it food. “Oh come one, yes we live in the apocalypse, but we don’t have to be barbarians.” She said trying to push her anger down. So while telling Acer what she thought she kept smiling. She didn't like him as much anymore, but then again new allies new rules. Her horse was just a very touchy subject. “But I understand, I’ll keep it far from here, I’ll try to find a safe spot near a river so it has water, but I will go feed it, I can search for food and feed it myself.” Ivy said. “I know it sounds silly, but it’s all that’s left from my past.” She added as sadness filled her eyes. She hoped Acer would understand and feel her pain. She didn’t have to act this part, it really hurt her thinking about her past, but of course to win Acer over she added that extra little bit.
Then he finally said they offered safety and shelter and it was her choice. “I would love to stay, that is if you still want me, but I just want you to know that I will check on my horse every now and then, I have a truck too, so I can use my own vehicle when checking on my horse.” She said as her smile slowly returned to her face.
“I’m glad we talked about that, but let’s change the subject to something more pleasant.” She said as she looked once more in his eyes. It was the first time in long she spoke English without adding French words, her horse was important and she did her best to talk in English when explaining all about it. But then again there was still her accent, which she loved.
Acer realized she was tired and probably needed some rest before he tested her. The fact she had a horse threw him off and the fact that she loved it enough to keep it far away from the mansion seemed strange to her. If she wanted to take those chances that was up to her but he knew what would happen if she tried to keep it here, even for one night.
"You can stay, but if you wish a more permanent residency, you'll have to share with me why I should keep you. What can you contribute to us?"
He was looking for something specific, but he would not guide her into that conversation. He would eventually get her there. There were other women in their little camp in the mansion, but they weren't exactly the type of homemakers one saw on t.v. They were tough and they had to live in this man's world and be able to hold their own. If they couldn't do it yet, they would be groomed to. If they still couldn't do it, up to the third floor they would go.

Ivy felt she was losing his trust. Inside her head she cursed as he asked her why he should keep her. Ivy turned around and smiled at him. “Well I’m a bit tired now, but if you give me some rest, I can show you tomorrow what I’m worth, if you feel the need to test me feel free.” Ivy said with a smile as she walked closer to him. She leaned in so that her lips where next to his head. “I’m a fighter.” She whispered in his ear.
Then she slowly stepped back. “I always had to fight for everything my whole life, so I’m used to being tested.” She said again in her cute French accent. “I can share you already what my skills are.” Ivy added. “If it comes to weapons, ma spécialité is this saber.” Ivy said again talking a bit Franglais while pointing at the saber in the holster around her belt. Then she turned around and walked softly stepped around. “My other specialty is being a bitch every now and then, but only to people who ask for it.” She said while chuckling a bit. Then she turned to back to him. “It’s easier if you ask what you want to know though, I’m not good at introducing myself, or if you don’t mind I would love to hear more from you.” She said with a wink.
Acer was already liking what he was hearing. He was certainly appreciating what he was seeing, considering the rebuff he got from Colette. He could certainly choose what he wanted without having to resort to getting to the top floor. Save a maiden in distress and she was usually yours for the night. But this one was different. He could appreciate that.
He watched as she moved in close and circled him, speaking with that sweet, French accent that could seduce any man she wanted. But she needed rest and he knew that. The sun was going down and he would wait to hear about the new group in the morning from Jackson. Tonight, they could get a fire going in the back, have some whiskey and enjoy a simple, quiet night before taking on this new project of several strangers in their midst.
"Alright then, Ivy. I'll take you up on that offer in the morning. I like a tough woman who can admit she's a bitch. I wouldn't mind seeing how tough you are. And how much of a bitch you can actually be." He grinned as he wrapped a hand around her slender waist, moving her towards the back of the house where they could have drinks with the others.
"You like whiskey? Maybe vodka? We have plenty of alcohol there. I used to own a bar and I wasn't about to let all that booze go to waste."
Post by Ivy LeRoix on Aug 25, 2015 17:34:39 GMT -5
Ivy smiled as Acer said he would take her up on that offer. She loved that she could show her skills in the morning. He also added he liked it that she admitted she was a bitch and said he wouldn’t mind seeing how though she was and how big a bitch she could be. “Guess you’ll see that soon enough chérie.” Ivy said with a smile as she felt his hand around her waist. It had been long since anyone touched her, and she liked the feeling, even if it was just a hand on her waist.
Acer slowly brought Ivy towards the back of the house. Ivy nodded as he asked about the alcohol.
“Some vodka would be great, it’s been years.” She replied with a wink. “A bar huh, sounds cool.” Ivy spoke again smiling. She also noticed he didn’t mind the accent, some guys hated it, but most men loved it. She was glad he liked it or at least she thought, it wasn’t something she could turn off. “So you are a though guy then, cause you must have seen all sort of people.” Ivy said as she stopped and while talking she used her hand to softly pinch his biceps. “Not bad.” She said.
The plan was to find a sleeping place and some allies, Ivy was good at flirting and it seemed like it was working. But Ivy enjoyed it too, while waiting for him to reply, her brains started working. She was asking herself if she was really that cheap, to like a guy that fast, they talked for what? 2 seconds. Then again, it was the apocalypse, so skipping the first date stuff was pretty normal. She just shook her head, as usual she was thinking too far ahead. She decided that she would wait how things turned out, maybe he had a dark side, even darker then hers and then they would either make a boom team or be worst enemies to each other.
Acer wrapped a hand around her waist as he walked her towards the back of the house. There was a patio that had red pavers that made up a large area that, before the destruction of their world, was probably used for large parties and gatherings. Some of the patio furniture was starting to rust and a few chairs were overturned. They didn't need any fancy furniture or anything to live here. They just needed a roof over their heads and plenty of booze to drink. There were a few luxuries that were their little secret. Ivy didn't have to know about any of that stuff though.
Heads turned as he brought her out to have a drink.
"Everyone, this is Ivy. Ivy, this is everyone." She would get to know them soon enough, one by one in more ways then just their names if she didn't cooperate.
"Ralph, pour this lovely lady a vodka. I need to go find out where Leigh is hiding."
Post by Ivy LeRoix on Aug 30, 2015 13:27:07 GMT -5
Ivy let Acer take her to a big room, where she met the others. Everyone watched her as she and Acer walked in. “Well if I knew so many people would be here, I would have wore a dress.” Ivy joked again speaking in her famous French accent. He introduced her and for now she knew the others as everyone, since that was what he used to introduce them, the word everyone.
“Bonsoir.” She said as she jokingly made sort of a royal bow. Then he heard how Acer asked a guy named Raph to pour her a vodka, followed by him telling the others he had to find someone named Leigh.
“I hope you will be back soon, I was looking foreward drinking together with you.” She whispered in his ear so the others wouldn’t hear. Ivy hated it that she was in a room, with so many new people, she didn’t trust anyone yet, but if they would try funny stuff, she would let them meet her saber. She walked over to what looked like a sofa and sat down as she waited for her vodka. “Oooh it’s been so long since I had a decent drink, I would die for one.” She said as she once more used her bitchy smile. “Only joking, I want to stay alive.” She added.
Leigh still hadn't left her room. She was scared too. From what she could hear, Acer had sent the younger-isn guy, Jackson, to spy on the nearby group, and some other woman had shown up and was making a good impression. And if you made a good impression, it meant you were not a good person. Julius had made a good first impression, and Jackson had as well. And neither of them were good people. Though Jackson was always nice to her--actually, he was nice to everyone, but you could see it in his eyes. He was not a nice man.
Hopefully they'd have her do some scavenging today. It was usually safe because the area was locked down by their group, and it gave Leigh some time away from all of them. Sometimes she considered running away, but to where? There was nowhere to go. It was then she realized they wouldn't send her scavenging--they'd fear she'd get captured by the other group...or that she'd want to join them. She heard Acer say he had to find her, which made her body go numb. Another day. She took a deep breath and stood, waiting for Acer to enter and assign her another task, or series of tasks, for the day.
At first there was a faint knock on the door to his room where Leigh Anne slept the night before. It had been all day and she hadn't come out. He wasn't terribly worried though. They were a tough group and the events the night before would be enough to traumatize anyone. His men were killed and then Julius, a man he thought would fit right in, was killed, in cold blood, right in front of her. It took time to get used to the kind of people they were and he got that. But he also knew that you either swam, or sank, in this group. There were no other options.
"Leigh? You still in there?"
He pulled a key out of his pocket and opened the door. He saw her sitting by a window just staring out as if she were Rapunzel waiting for her hair to grow. Either that or waiting for her prince to arrive, which he knew, would never happen. Fairy tale time was over.
"Hey there. I hope you've rested up. I've got a job for you."
He would bring her downstairs to meet Ivy, get something to eat and send her off, in the night, to do what he wanted her to do.
"I need you to go spy on someone for me. A nice woman really. She won't hurt you. But she is a bit of a thorn in my side."
Leigh owed him. That's the way he saw it. He fed her. He gave her a bed to sleep in. Hell, she could even drink even though she was barely out of puberty for all he cared.
"I just want you to get friendly with her. Tell her you need a place to sleep for the night and I want you to listen. There's a new group in town and I want to know what she is planning on doing with them. Think you can handle that?"
It would keep her safe from the men that were already starting to enjoy the fact they may be the first to take her virginity whether she liked it or not. It was his choice to keep Leigh safe from them..for now.
Leigh was already standing, but her posture stiffened as Acer entered the room. Another task, but this one was a bit different. He wanted her to spy on someone--a woman. By the sound of it, Acer knew about her already, so it couldn't have been anyone from the new group that Jackson had gone after. Still, Leigh had her doubts and questions. The job itself seemed easy enough.
"Sure. Get in, get nosey. Eyes and ears open...got it. But, who's the new group? You sent Jackson after them, right? I thought I overheard it from the window. Are they...going to hurt us?" Leigh was hardly about to look to Acer for comfort. It was more of a question of survival. Acer hadn't killed her--hell, he hadn't harmed her at all. Not physically at least. He could be the lesser of two (or more) evils, for all Leigh knew.
"I just, y'know, wanna know about our...new neighbors."
Dan had come out of his lab, as he liked to call it, medbay to everyone else. He walked down the stairs, his boots clunking as he did. He rarely came out, not cause he was anti social, it was because he didn't like theese men. He ate once a day, kept his own food in a bag upstairs. He worked and kept to himself on a lone room upon the second floor. Dan had another reason for coming down though, he needed to speak to Acer, speak to him about leaving to get some much needed supplies.
He moved to the kitchen, grabbing a plate of cold gator. He didn't like this stuff, but it was filling. The only thing worse than gator was cold gator. Taking a plate he went out to where the others were and poured himself a drink. He saw a woman, he didn't recognize her. He had treated some of the women upstairs many times, but this was different. This woman held herself, would be a shame when they chained her up and used her, savages. He debated warning her, but didn't want to risk himself or the other girl who arrived yesterday. The men would want something new on their third floor, and he wasn't going to get beat for stopping them.
As Dan moved back insdie he sports Acer and the little girl, who he still didn't know the name for. "Acer, can I have a word with you for a moment. She can stay, it's just a request for tomorrow." He looked at them both, "I was hoping I could go into the city, I need supplies to restock the MedBay. I have a few places I would like to hit, see if they had been raided yet." He was wanting to go to the university, get some science equipment. Acer didn't need to know unless he asked, even then he didn't know about the experiments he did.
Acer opened the door wider so Leigh could step outside and come downstairs. He wanted her to get to work right away before the sun came up before Colette became suspicious. He wanted this to seem as authentic as possible and he knew a child could make this happen. He wanted to know what Colette was up to in all this and how she was going to ruin his fun. If these people had supplies, he wanted them, no matter what the cost. If they had women, they needed more at his mansion. It was always his way or no way at all.
"There is always a chance we will get hurt Leigh, but I'll make sure you stay safe. You're a good kid."
He ruffled her hair as they came downstairs. It was getting dark out and already a few candles were lit. Once it was dark in the house, there wasn't much movement except to sit, talk or sit, guard.
"I'll have Paulie escort you close to where they hold up. I don't want them getting too suspicious, so when you get close, he'll cut you loose to play the innocent vagabond and just see what they are up to."
As he reached the end of the stairs, Dan approached. He hadn't seen him for a few days and he wondered what the good doc was up to.
"Doc, what's the good word. This is Leigh, she's knew to the manor. Leigh, this is Dan. He's a good guy. He'll take care of you if you have a cold or scrape your knee."
Acer was in a good mood as his eyes looked at Ivey. His thoughts went a little darker as he thought about inviting her to sleep in his room tonight. There may not be much sleeping though.
"Supply run? Of course. Do you need someone to go with you? I would bet Tulane would be the place to try for. Not sure if anyone has already gone through it, but surely they have to have a pretty good supply for the college kids."

Ivy sat down and was enjoying her vodka. Some people walked in and out, shortly before Acer came down again she noticed someone looking at her, nobody seemed to pay attention to him. But when Acer came back down with a girl he walked over to them. Ivy watched the conversation, but couldn’t hear what it was all about. She did notice the girl seemed a little scared, she wasn’t showing how scared she was but Ivy saw it in her eyes.
Just then she noticed how Acer was looking at her. She raised her glass and winked at him. Sort of thank you for the vodka and small flirt with the wink.
Leigh said nothing and followed Acer as he said she may always get hurt. No shit. But it wasn't worth fighting. Paulie was going to escort her to the group. Paulie wouldn't try anything weird on Leigh, not when he had orders from Acer not to. A man approached, his name was Dan and was a doctor. It was good to know there was a doctor around, and he actually seemed like a decent guy. But looks could be deceiving.
"Hey, nice to meet you, doc." Leigh said in as friendly of a tone as she could muster. She said nothing more as she waited for the men to continue their conversation.
Dan watched as Acer introduced him to Leigh and Leigh to him. He nodded and looked at the girl. "Nice to meet you too Leigh." He looked at Acer and then back at her, "I cover more than just scraped and colds. Seems more like stab wounds and gunshots recently." He looked back at Acer, "reminds me. The last guy that was brought into see me. His leg, the tendons where the Machette hit. He will live, no infection, I can even save the leg. But he will never walk again on it. Part of the reason for this run is him. He needs antibiotics, and if he catches a fever I don't know what to do, it will escalate to fast. Need to keep it suppressed."
Acer spoke again and Dan nodded. "That was the plan. There has to be a nurses station, near the gym to treat injured players. Along with anything I can find in the buildings. It should be mostly clean, unless Collette got to it first. The military had left supplies there, kept it there for survivors. It was supposed to be a shelter at first, but fell quickly. That's at least what I was told. Seems true, and makes perfect sense. Now I bet it is pretty heavily Walker filled, so I will have to take a gun and some extra rounds for protection. I hope that is alright."
Shauna Kelly: That helped, thank you
