"Got a new batch just rode up!" Anvil yelled out from the roof. He had been stationed there since the sun rose and there was really nothing to see. All day they watched and waited, mostly looking for walkers. Most of the time the lone ones were for target practice. Acer didn't like the fact bullets were being used on stray walkers, but he always warned them...if you run out, you find your own. Everyone got their own stash. They were, however, working on a way to make new bullets. They hadn't quite gotten the sizing down, but the general shape and black powder used were coming together. A guy they called One Eyed Jack knew how to manufacture and fit them with a makeshift press of vice grips and welding torch.
When Anvil yelled out, Acer moved towards the front of the house where the broken sign remained See hell Manor. The S still lay on the ground along with one of the scallop shells that was welded once to the top of the sign. It was a play of words the former owners had. Seemed appropriate with the S missing now.
He looked back over his shoulder and shouted to the rooftop.
"Which way?"
"Due east! They pulled up to a couple of buildings and got out. A couple of blondes, a bunch of dudes. Dark haired girl with a kid."
Acer turned his attention back to the gates, looking east. He couldn't see anything from the ground, but he would sent out a couple of scouts before dark to count the numbers, hide in the bushes and see what sort of supplies and ammo they had. The fact there were some women with the group made him smirk. They would be what gave him leverage. He thought of Leigh who was probably still dead asleep in his room upstairs with the door locked tightly. She could be the bait.
