For those who are staying back at the small town where the Sporting goods store, feed store, diner and gift shop are. This is the base camp for Remy's group.
Skyy exited the diner into the already warm morning sunshine. She rather liked the dry heat better than the Southern humidity, but it was more dangerous because you just didn't know how depleted of water your body truly was. It was a lesson she'd learned the hard way. Her dark hair was a mop of ebon silk, albeit a messy mop, which cascaded over one shoulder and down her back. She'd changed clothes this morning after taking a cursory spot bath in the ladies room of the diner and was wearing a pair of knee length, army green, cargo shorts and a white button down that was tied in a knot above her navel.
Gun in hand, she scanned the area. The group had split. Those who'd been outside had gone to investigate some noise, and the rest of them had hidden like ostriches with their heads in the sand in the diner. Lowering her gun, Skyy thoughtfully tapped the barrel of the pistol against her thigh before returning inside. "Everyone's gone but us. Any suggestions of what to do?"
Dexter was in the general store, arms tied behind his back, tied to his sides. He had ropes at his ankles, his wrists, and around his torso. Across his mouth was a bandana, tied tight to get him to shut up. Dexter squirmed as he sat in the general store. He didn't remember how he got here. He had hit Riker, then someone came at him. Dexter was knocked out again.
He sat up against the wall and squirmed and moved his legs. Dexter worked his jaw until the bandana slid down. He worked his mouth free, the bandana hanging at his neck. He banged against the wall with hisbhands an yelled out.
"Hey someone fucking untie me. Untie me fucking now," he yelled, "bitch cop, fat ass, dumb bitch, anyone."
When Skyy finished taking care of the kids, she walked back outside to soak up some sunshine. That's when she heard the banging and the cursing. Poking her head back into the diner, she stated, "Watch Jill." Brodie nodded and continued playing with the baby. Turning, Skyy trotted across the street, following the sound of the banging until she entered the general store. Blinking down at the young guy, Skyy's dark brows rose, and she leaned a hip against the wall. "I know I'm not 'bitch cop', but I hope you don't consider me to be 'fat ass' or 'dumb bitch' either." Her knife was drawn from her pants, and she set to work cutting the kid free. "You okay? Who did this to you?"
"No you're not any of those," Dexter said looking up as a woman came in. He was still bound and when she went to work freeing him he stood up. He leaned on the freezer wall. "No fat ass is that one lawyer guy, and dumb bitch is the one sucking on the cop and the sniper." He stretched his shoulders. He was shocked she let him out. Had she not seen him smack the shit out of Riker, or threaten everyone with his gun?
He rubbed his face, "one of the guys on the hill rushed me. He knocked me to the ground, tied me, and left me here," he said, not really lieing, as Dallas was up the hill, "he was in a leather jacket. I think he might be the inside man, the one who led the bad ass who is chasing Dumb bitch and fat ass. I mean the bad guys show up, then he shows up right after. He's difinetly a traitor, one of the bad guys."
Dexter looked at the woman, "do you have any weapons here? We should ambush him when he comes back, so he can't hurt the others. You look like you can shoot. Take him out as he's walking this way, or injure him at least."

Remy approached Luca when she reached the bottom of the hill, looking past him while she was still carrying her bat. She spoke quietly although if anyone was close by, they would hear the words she spoke to him.
"I know things ain't easy with me. I know I'm difficult."
She wanted to say more, but nothing else came out. What more could she say? This was over and she wanted to leave. From the start she wanted to leave and branch out on her own, but he wouldn't let her. Now another person was dead because of her. What she was looking at was Riker. She brushed past Luca and went to the biker who lay still on the ground. What he did was foolish, but he had his reasons.
She carefully set her bat down and kneeled down beside him, using her bat as a wedge. She looked him over and shook her head. She didn't know him that well, but he had, in a sense, become a traveling companion to them all. He led the way here and he led the charge to get them gasoline so they could move on.
"I'm really sorry Riker. I know I wasn't the nicest person to you, but you still helped. You tried to protect me..us...I'm real sorry. I wish I could have stopped him."
She sat there quietly for a few minutes saying a silent prayer for him, knowing he was in a better place. Any place was better than this hell on earth.

The fight was over. They were free, for the time being. The freshly turned Walkers had been put down and the group moved on back down the hill. Dallas walked past Remy and Luca as the two shared something of a private moment. Not that anyone was going to have much of a crazy moment around here after what they had just gone through.
Providing that no one shot him or tried to kill him upon entering the so called "camp" again, he made his way into one of the stores to find a shovel. He didn't know Riker, but the man deserved better than to rot in the sun. Moments later, he would emerge from the store with a shovel in hand.
He walked over in time to hear Remy say her few words to the man, pausing just long enough to allow it. When Remy fell silent to offer up a prayer for the man, he shoved the shovel into the dirt and began digging a grave. The man deserved at least that much. They all did.

Remy heard Dallas going by as she sat with the very dead Riker saying her last goodbyes and giving him rites, so to speak. She certainly wasn't the most avid church goer before all this so she wasn't even certain she would be the right person to do this. Hell, she hadn't even come in contact with a priest or nun or anyone that could do a job like that. It didn't matter anymore anyways. Laws of the church were null and void now. When he came back with shovel in hand she looked up at him as he started digging the grave. No one else had started the task and she admired the fact he just came and did it on his own. She offered him a meek smile as she watched him work.
"That's mighty kind of you."
Dallas was an unknown factor with this group, but so far he seemed to be proving his worth. She got up off the ground, dusted off her pants and went over to him. "I'm Remy. In case you didn't figure that one out yet."
She chuckled nervously as she felt the weight of the situation getting lighter off her shoulders. She rubbed the back of her neck with her free hand and looked behind her to see who was trekking down towards the town. She was planning on leaving as soon as Riker was buried and there was no stopping her on that.
"Look, I appreciate you coming to our defense and sticking your neck out like that. I'm, uh, heading to New Orleans as soon as Riker is buried."
She seemed a little nervous talking to him. He was a sniper, like Grant and she never really interacted with military types until all this happened. Should she ask him to join her on her journey? She wasn't sure. She was more on the fence about going alone then she ever was before. Before all this, it was clear that she was meant to be alone. No one got hurt that way, especially her. But Grant made it abundantly clear he was going to make sure she went unaccompanied to the Crescent City.
"You ...you lookin for people or just, ya know, wandering?"

Skyy tossed the ropes to the ground and stood, brushing the dirt from her knees. Tilting her hip against the wall, she tapped the knife against her thigh as she listened to the story. Hm. Something was fishy about it. "I don't really know most of the people here as I'm new, but a few of them seemed pretty nice like that guy, Riker. Riker the Biker. He was pretty welcoming to me. Maybe we can talk to him and get him to help you out." Walking to the door, she opened it and squinted into the sunshine. "I'm just not sure I feel comfortable attacking someone from a group I just joined especially since I have two kids to take care of. It's nothing against you, of course, but I have to keep them safe by surviving. Come on, there's some food still in the diner over there. I bet you're starved." She stepped out into the sunshine.
"That's it, survival," Dexter said, "I'm not much older than your brother right? It could have been him. He could have jumped at your brother instead of me. Dude's some psychopath. He came in waving his gun. I tried to calm him but he took me out when no one was around." Dexter followed close behind her. He didn't have his gun, or shovel, or knives. He felt helpless.
"Think about. Would you want some crazed sex offender attacking your brother. That could have been him. He's a traitor I tell you. We should act now, don't let him get the upper hand. Next it will be your, or your brother. You want that kid to grow up without a mom. That guy's crazy, he wIll kill you, or worse. I think he tied me up, he did things to me while I was out, I'm walking funny."
Dexter looked at her as they went into the diner. He wasn't that hungry, he just wanted to change her view on this group and the guy who overpowered him.
Concerned. Skyy was concerned about a lot. She was concerned about the group who had left. She was concerned about feeding the kids. And she was really concerned about the man-child following so close behind her. She didn't like what he was saying in regards to her family, and she didn't want him to scare Brodie and Jill. They were already scared and had lived through enough for five lifetimes.
"What's your name? I'm Skyy, by the way." Striding into the diner, she smiled and picked up her daughter, kissing her cheek. Turning to Dexter, she picked up her gun and tucked it into her pocket. "How about this, we hide and listen when he and anyone else come into town and see what happens. If they are dangerous, we'll take them out. You can point out to me who he is so I don't shoot someone innocent."
"I'm Dexter, i came with Remy and Aaron, the rest of them," he said, though his coming was more forced then anything. Had there not been a a hoarse after them they wouldn't hve taken Dexter along. He had offended them from the getgo by stumbling upon a cabin which wasn't theirs or his. He looked at Skyy while she explained her plan to him.
"So you want us to hide. Why don't you give me your gun. I know what he looks like, I can take him out before he even has the chance to think about jumping us," Dexter said, "he took my gun, and my pack, so I don't even have that. The others probably don't know about him, I think he's some kind of killer. He probably acts all nice until he gets you alone, the jabs a knife in you, does stuff to your corpse."
Dexter looked out the window. He couldn't see him, or anyone. "I don't hear firing anymore, you think they are done the fight. I don't see them coming down. Does that mean the bad guys won?" He turned to Skyy. "Give me your gun. You go hide with your family, I'll keep us safe."
Luca had still been in shock from what had happened the night before. He remembered shooting Adolphus as he was standing over Anthony, he remembered dropping the gun and sprinting towards Remy--that was all that was on his mind...her. Luca'd never acted so recklessly before. But he wasn't mad at himself, he was pleased. It felt good to care about her...in that way, strange as it sounded. As she apologized, he shrugged and laughed. "Don't apologize, Remy. This world's difficult. People who want to kill us are difficult. You? Hell, you're a breath of fresh air." He didn't follow her as she began to speak with the newer guy, Dallas. Luca stood a few feet away as the two exchanged words, plans. Luca knew his plan already. Remy was his plan. Where she went, he went. But Remy had tried leading so much before, and it often did not work out for her. Luca wouldn't let her herd cats anymore. With the help of Dallas and Grant, and the advice of Anthony, maybe they'd get to New Orleans without losing anyone else. A lofty goal, but one worth having.
Luca looked over to Remy and Dallas. "We're leaving soon. Get ready, now."

Skyy shook her head, "No. These are my weapons. I don't give them up." No need telling him she lets her brother use them. "I don't like the idea of killing people. Even though that guy is a nut job for tying you up and taking your things, he didn't kill you. He didn't leave you for dead either because there are several of us left here. I'm going to wait and see who comes down. If they're not down in a few hours, I'm taking my car and leaving. You can come with us if you want, Dexter, or you can find your own way, but I'll be leaving at that time."
Dexter looked back out the window when she wouldn't give her gun. "Do you know where mine would be," Dexter asked her, "no one left a black bag around. You didn't see anyone place one anywhere?" He looked around here for a weapon. "You still need to get down. Keep your family safe." Dexter moved to the door, "stay here."
He walked outside and went to the cars. Pulling open the door of the one he came in he searched around. His original pistolnwas long gone, who knew who had it. But he knew no one would search his pack. He went through it, moving the knife bag and the other items he had inside until he found it. A small pistol. It was compact, fit in his hand.
He pulled it out and set off to the where the group was gathered.
Skyy nodded and hunkered down to sit indian style on the floor of the diner. She pulled Jill into her lap and set the gun on the floor to her right. She wanted to hold it, keep it safe in her hands until this craziness was over. She and the kids should've left upon rising this morning. They should've been long gone.
The can of fruit cocktail Samantha had given Jill was opened, and the three of them set to work eating the fruit and slurping the juice. Skyy took one of the extremely red cherries and savored the fake sweet flavor as she chewed. Placing the can on the floor, she leaned up on her knees and looked outside in time to see Dexter setting off down the road. "Brodie, we're going to wait here two hours, and then we are out of here. Capiche?"
"Capiche," muttered Brodie around a mouthful of peaches.
"Ca-peach," stated Jill with finality, causing Skyy to smile.

Remy left the others to dig the grave for Grant and bury Riker properly. Going back down the hill, there were others she needed to address and a plan that needed to be established. What was the proper protocol for dealing with Andrei and the redhead now? Dallas and Lydia didn't give two shits about any of this quarrel as they came in at the last second. It was not their fight at all. Nor was it Samantha and Skyy's. She didn't want them involved and she didn't like the fact Dallas had to save Andrei and Holly from Luca's snapping temper. It seemed that every group she found was eventually torn apart by walkers, bandits, and bad guys. Now, it was an internal struggle. She wondered if Luca saw her point of view now. She wondered if he understood why she believed it was better to be alone through all this.
When she reached the bottom of the hill, she went to the diner and peeked in. There, she saw Skyy with her child and brother.
"Come out Skyy, Sam. We got things to discuss as a group."
Grant saw her as the leader of this group but she knew that wasn't something she could do. It wasn't even something she wanted. She called out to Aron and Sasha to join her at the bottom of the hill as she approached Dallas, Andrei and Holly.
She kept a good distance from Holly, who looked completely terrified of this situation that was unfolding and Andrei, who was looking as arrogant as ever. She kept the bat in hand as she stood next to Dallas looking directly at Andrei.
"Andrei, I want to believe that you were captured by these people. By Adolphus. I want to believe that he forced you to tell him where we were. I want to believe this girl you're with is also a captive, which is why you're protecting her. That's what I want to believe but if it ain't the truth, I need you to tell me. I need to know why."

Andrei followed Dallas to the camp, and was getting ready to leave. He and Holly had outstayed their welcome, but before they could go, Remy came over. Seems they weren't free to leave just yet. She kept saying how she wanted to believe he was forced to lead Adolphus to them, but she'd be disappointed.
"Why?" he started "How many, Remy? How many people died because that psychopath kept following us? You would've kept running, since that's what you do when the world starts pushing back; you run. I was done running." so far he kept his cool, but that was slowly changing as the wave of pain and loss he still had to deal with was beginning to make themselves known. "I lost friends that day. People who I genuinely trusted and had a connection with. For fuck's sake, I befriended one of those pregnant women, Zoey. After she gave birth, her state deteriorated and she died 2 days later, whilst her baby died hours after she was born. And what did I do? I lied to her, Remy. I told her the baby's fine, in an incubator, but know what I was doing? I was collecting tissue samples so you could do your motherfucking research, only to find out, after she died, that it was all for naught. You'd already bailed, and Adolphus came and killed everyone else." At the end he was doing his best not to yell, but the look in his eyes made the fury and pain evident, as he began moving closer to Remy.
"Unlike you, I couldn't run anymore. I had to stop, turn around, look the devil in the eye and say..." his face was close to hers, and he looked straight into her eyes. "No more." After uttering those two words, he turned around and went back next to Holly.
"Did they capture me? No, I joined willingly. Did I lead them to you? No. They already had your scent and knew you were heading to New Orleans, and Adolphus had his mind set on finding you. I was hoping that you'd made more progress on the way, since you had a smaller group, and I'd have time to get Adolphus out of the picture on my own. I wanted to genuinely help you guys fight him when we first found you. But Luca made it obvious that you know we found you, so Adolphus postponed the attack. Yet again I wanted to help fight him, but you decided to martyr yourself, and all hell broke loose. Say what you will, but you've known me for quite some time. If I wanted you people dead, there would've been many more graves to dig."
Post by Dallas Hatcher on Jul 25, 2015 13:16:40 GMT -5
"That's enough! Both of you!" Dallas stepped in now, breaking up the 'Days of Our Lives episode going on before them. It was obvious this group had a lot of history, and from what he had just heard, none of it was good. He could hardly believe what he had heard. Tissue samples? Joining a psycho willingly? Wanting to kill people without so much as asking who they were?
"What is wrong with you people? Has this world really made you lose sight of who you were? What happened to being good people? Or just saying hi to someone, getting to know them before you decide to blow their fucking brains out. Yes, there are bad people out there, made a whole hell of a lot worse by this new world, but that doesn't mean you let it change you. You fight back even harder to keep yourself..." He paused for a moment as he looked from Remy to Andrei. "I don't know what happened to you guys, or what that man back there did to you, but look at yourselves dammit!" He paused for a moment, hoping his words would sink in.
"Two men are dead... Two good men who didn't deserve it." Now he did not know either man well enough, and it was very possible they were not at all good men, but from what he had known of them, they seemed trustworthy to him. A lot more so than the loose cannon Luca.
"I'm not one of you guys, I don't have the history you do; but it doesn't matter. We have to look out for one another. So for fuck sake, start acting like adults. Forgive each other and lets come up with a plan. Start acting like we know what we're doing. We aren't just a bunch of cavemen. The time for beating our chest is long been over."
He understood they had things they needed to get off their chest. There was a time and a place for it. They had stated their issues, they could talk about them more on the car ride or when they had made their next pit stop. "Now, we need to pack up what we can, load it into the vehicles being taken and push off. Walkers won't be long now... And from the amount of shooting that went on, it ain't going to be a small herd."
He wasn't sure why he was telling this group what to do, but it was clear they had no real sense of direction, they needed someone to pull their heads out of their own little worlds and remind them that shit needed to be done. No one else seemed to be doing it now, so that left Dallas. For the first time, he found himself missing his old group. Sure, all the women had a thing for the leader, but at least they got shit done...
Andrei's words were an enigma to Anthony. In a way, he was shocked by the man's honesty. At the same time, the explanation Andrei gave was to be expected. He'd joined Adolphus willingly, but had always intended to betray him at the last moment. Could the same be said for Holly? Maybe, maybe not. Anthony couldn't judge that.
Dallas spoke up, once again, giving a speech that sounded like it had been written by Anthony, six months ago. Anthony wasn't about to advocate that they completely abandon the ways of the old world, but things weren't so black and white anymore, now that Bear Lake had fallen, Adolphus was dead, and Grant was killed for no reason at all. The world wasn't black and white, no matter how hard you tried to make it that way.
Anthony spoke up next. "I remember Zoey. Seemed like a nice woman. I remember how you told her that her baby was okay. You lied, but to make her final 48 hours happy ones. I don't blame you. She was a good woman, Andrei, and you did everything you could..." Anthony was looking at Andrei. He was sympathetic, yet also angry. If Adolphus has succeeded and taken them prisoner, Anthony would have blamed Andrei--he led Adolphus to them, hadn't he? Just because the outcome happened to be favorable didn't mean Andrei's actions should be forgotten. "The woman with you, Andrei, were her intentions the same as yours? Or was she truly with Adolphus, and you're just covering for her, now?" Anthony hoped that wasn't true, he didn't want to advocate violence, but if Holly had been one of Adolphus' minions, letting her go seemed wrong.
"Something had to be done, I agree, and Andrei did help. Adolphus would have followed us as long as he could. Still, if I had been in his position, I would have told him to go to hell, not offered any assistance...but maybe it's good Andrei was there and not me..." Anthony approached Andrei and nodded...and smiled. "Andrei, you're one of the more interesting people I've met since the world went to hell, and I think I can say you're a good man. I won't advocate we kill a good man...but I don't know whether everyone will want you around, either." Anthony extended his arm, which was holding Adolphus' rifle. Anthony knew nothing about guns, but this rifle was different, at least it looked to be. It was covered in blue-gray camouflage, giving it a distinct look among other rifles they found. "If you're going out on your own, you may want this. It was Adolphus', but maybe you can use it for...nobler efforts."
