When the sun rose it was an automatic calling to Remy as her eyes opened. The warm bed was a place she did not care to leave as it was the most comfortable place she had slept in a long, long time. The covers wrapped around her body and she felt content for the first time in a long time. But she wasn't alone.
Quietly she slipped out of the bed and dressed herself in the clothes she had worn the day before. Gone were the days of lace and silk, of high heels and makeup. Gone were the days of being fashionable in general. Now it was about being practical. She looked over her shoulder and back to her boots that she quietly laced up. She didn't want to awaken anyone in the cabin and so far, it appeared she was the first one to wake up. The issue of where they were going to go remained unresolved and Randall still had no idea about her plans. Hell, no one did except Luca who seemed to protest. But he was still asleep also.
Gently and quietly she slipped away from the room, moving with the silence of a cat as she headed for the back door. Her machete was in hand in case any stray walkers came their way and it was her intention to just take a few quiet moments by the still lake. She could already see the steam rising from the water against the crisp, morning air. It was never her intention to just leave again. Not this time. In her mind, Luca made it clear that he did not want her to leave again without him and she made it clear that she actually cared about him. She never wanted to care, but there it was.
As she stepped out of the house towards the lake, the thoughts of where she was going to go and with who were interrupted by the sudden sounds of three explosions and rapid gunfire. It was close, but far enough away they could be safe from flying bullets. She knew exactly where it was coming from and her feet propelled her towards the road, running past Riker's Harley to where a Lexus was parked with a woman inside. That didn't concern her too much as she watched a stream of black smoke billow into the sky. The Settlement.
More gunfire and several more explosions would awaken those in her little campground. The sounds would wake them all up and through all outward appearances to Luca, it would seem as if she had left yet again even though her belongings were still scattered in the room and she was just outside. She knew what all that noise meant and she didn't give two shits about anyone back at that Settlement.
It meant walkers were going to follow.
