Abby had found Dean and asked him to with her looking for Max. She hadn't bothered to change. Still wearing her sweat pants and shirt, she grabbed some supplies from the shed and met Dean back in ear the rear of the house.
She wasn't sure exactly where Max's traps were set , but figured the wooded side of the farm was the best place to start looking. If he had gone in the direction Amber had taken earlier , they would have seen him, he would have come back.
She worried with his hand in the cast maybe something happened to him, that with his past injuries, could have put him at a disadvantage.
Once Dean showed up, she left with him, adjusting her pack. Her mind wanted to wander and think the worst as the made it half way into the wooded area and there was no sign of him. She didn't know for sure how long they had been searching or how far from the farm they actually were.
Avery moved through the trees with Smoke right behind him. His plan was to have Smoke watch the farm while he found a place to have a meet. He would have smoke come back when ready, when the had a decent oppourtunity to approach the farm. T was left back at their base, left to watch the prisoners. They had found a van on their farm, going to use it to make the drop.
Avery parked his bike and swung off, his gun hanging on a strap by his hip. He looked forward and watched Smoke do the same. They parked on the road, the bikes couldn't go into the trees.
Smoke still rose in the sky, signalling where the farm was located. It rose high in the air for all to see.
Avery walked through the trees, heading towards the farm, he wants to get another look at it, see what they had to go up against.
Abby heard the sounds of engines. She looked at Dean and then started off towards them. She wanted to get close and see what was going on.
She ran and her pack bounced on her back, she gripped her bat in her hand. She hadn't realized that the people she was running towards were bad men, or that they had Max, just that they were people and might have seen him. Her plan was to stop, and observe, but she ran smack into Avery. Her front smacked into his hard, as she burst through some bushes.
Abby fell back onto her rear, and stared up at him, but her hand still clutched the bat, 'Damn, I'm sorry, I heard the engine and wanted to see who it belonged to, I am looking for someone." She spoke as she was getting up.
Dean followed behind abby, a revolver on his hip and a steel pipe in his hands. He had his pack, filled with medical supplies. He was here more for aid then protection, either for Abby or for Max. When she started to pick up speed he ran behind.
-------
Avery heard movement in the trees. He turned pulling the gun from his belt. He raised it up as he felt somethig hit his chest. It was a girl, younger than him. He watched her bounce off and fall back. Avery took a calm step back and looked at the guy who appeared through the trees behind her, a guy about the same age. He looked at the both and just smiled a friendly smile.
"Easy there now," he said raising a had up to keep Smoke down and back. "You alright? " he extened a hand to help her up. "God it's been so long since we found anyone. I'm Kal, and this is Ian," he said looking at them. "We've been out here a while. We're going to look at what that smoke is. The black one rising into the sky. We figured it meant people."
Abby took his hand, and let him help her up. She glanced at Dean, then back at Kal. "The smoke, it's from a farm. We came from there. We are out here looking for a friend of ours. He went to check some traps, and hasn't come back yet." She looked at Ian, then Kal, "You would have happened to see anyone, guy with a cast?" She glanced at Dean, then noticed Kal hadn't let go of her hand. She started to pull it away, "Guess we should keep looking, and you two could just use the road." She stopped and realized that they could have just used the road and approached the farm, so why come through the woods?
Abby stared at Kal, "Our friends would welcome newcomers." She was trying to be nice, though the hairs on her neck were standing now.
Once the woman stood he kept his hand on hers. He pulled his gloved hand away and smiled. They were from the farm, that was good, meant more hostages, better advantage. He looked at the man, he didn't seem like a fighter, this other woman, she did.
Avery listened as she spoke about that other kid, the one with the cast. He was the one they had chained up with their other friend, the country kid.
"Now haven't seen him. Have you Ian," he asked looking at Smoke.
"Nope no guy with a cast Kal."
"Sorry about that. We saw the smoke and didn't knoe what to expect. Regular fires don't have smoke that high. We thought it would be best to just scope every thing out, before we approached. In case your friends say we're burning bodies, dead or alive. Not saying you are, but in this world, it's a possibility."
Avery crossed his arms, "maybe we can help you find your friend, and in exchange you introduce us to your people. Seems fair enough. Better than just showing up."
"You're people," Smoke asked, "you guys doing okay? Your buring something, something big. Plus you have people just wandering off."
------
Dean noticed marks along the one man's neck, and blood on his leg. He obviously couldn't walk very long, not on that. He leaned forward and motioned towards it to Abby. The marks around his neck were more surprising, they were bruises, from being strangled, and they were fresh.

Dean moved his hand and Abby caught it. She realized what he meant and took in the men. She really looked them over and saw the wounds and the marks around the neck. She never missed a beat, and smiled at Kal and Ian, though her mind was racing.
"We are burning some corpses that were on the farm, clearing it out." She made it sound like they had not been there long and didn't hint about how many they were.
She glanced at Dean, then took a step back, her hand gripped the handle of the bat, 'Looks like you guys have had a bad run of luck. Maybe you should go back to your vehicles and ride in, we could head back and see about helping you all out." She just wanted to get away from them. She knew if they road up, Amber, and the others weren't going to just let them in. Maybe it would give them time to find Max. He had to be out here. She felt deep down these two were lying. Maybe they had met Max, fought with him? No, she needed to keep focused. She never once mentioned Dean being a medic, she didn't know how they would react.
"Just arrived huh," Avery asked looking at them, "pretty quick to have you all run off for just arriving. Said he went to check on traps, even though you just got there. Traps take longer than that." He smirked and looked at her, appeared she did all the talking. "You said just ride up, wouldn't it be better if you came with us? Bike can seat two each, you riding up may have a better chance for us, seem friendlier."
He looked at the man point out his wounds, "it's mostly causmetic. There was actually three of us. The other snapped, took it out on me. I'm still capable, barely even wounded. And Ian doesn't even have a scratch on him. Now why don't we all go back to you farm, or all of us find your friend."
He looked at the pair again, "I never caught your name, what was it. So I can tell your friends who I met."
-----
Dean didn't say anything, just looked at Abby. He didn't trust these men, it was hard to come by now these days. He had his hands on the pipe, something told him to smash these men, but he didn't. After Darcy's he had been like this, angrier, wanting to see blood. He had hoped they could kill something out here, not these men but something.
Abby had an unsettling feeling was over her when he asked for her name. She kept up that polite facade ," oh, I'm Amber and this is Brian, we been at the farm for a few days, not long." Something about the way the man looked at her , just made her wanna smash his face with her bat.
She glanced at Dean," we should keep going, he can't be much farther ." She didn't turn her back, for the same reason she didn't give her real name." You can head on , I'm sure they will give you a warm greeting, " she smiled at Kal and took another step backwards.
She was right in front of Dean now. Abby prayed he would see the gun at her back, tucked into her jeans , just beneath her pack.
"Thank you, again," Avery said extending his hand. "I appreciate you letting us come to your farm, Amber." He smiled and looked at her, "towards the smoke right?" He took a step towards her. "Just ride up, there won't be a problem at the gate?"
He looked through the trees, "we don't want to make all that noise, send the dead running towards you." He gun hung in his hand, "we'll just keep moving the way we were going, and you can do the same. He smiled, "if you need and extra body Ian can come with you. He's strong and dedicated."
Smoke smiled, his automatic weapon on his back, "would be a pleasure."
------
Dean saw the gun on abby, but didn't react. His own was out in the open, the holster on his belt. It was common to carry weapons, so he didn't know what she was hinting at. He didn't trust these men, it was clear she didn't either when she gave false names.
Abby stared at his hand, uneasy about taking it. She glanced at Ian, then slowly reached for Kal's hand. "You just tell them I sent you." She forced a smile , and started to pull her hand back. Dean commented about them not needing any help, when He offered Ian to go with them.
Abby felt the same. She didn't want either of these men helping. Something about them was off, and she hoped that if they went to the farm and gave Amber her own name, it would set off a red flag for the rest of them.
AVERY smiled when she shook his hand. He looked at Dean hisbhand still on the girls. He held it tighter and tighter. "I insist. Take Ian with you," he said with a grin, "you can always use the help."
Smoke looked at them, "yeah you and, what was her name, Abby, could have an extra set of eyes."
----
Dean glare at them, how did they? How did they know Abby's real name. He gripped his pipe tighter, seeing the guy was still holding onto abby. "We are fine honestly. Just go to the farm, say Brian, and Amber sent you," he said emphasizing the last name.
Abby was unsettled when she realized he wasn't letting go of her hand. The pressure in which he was squeezing it caused a sudden flash to her face.
All this had her concerned, but it was when the other man mentioned her real name that she reacted. They knew Max, had to! Dean spoke and Abby yanked her hand back.
She glanced at Dean, the two had guns, so she wasn't sure how to handle it, exactly. Her eyes bore into Kal," who the fuck is Abby! And what the hell was that?" She indicated her hand. She needed a chance to make a break for it. " on second though, I don't care, we are gonna head off, and thanks, but no , thanks to the help." Abby was trying to stay calm, but this was hard. She knew they had seen Max if they knew her name, and was afraid they had done something to him. The trees would offer cover of they started shooting, and she felt they would.
Avery pulled his arm bak when she yanked her hand. He took a step forward but made no move with his weapon. He was defenceless at this point. His eyes looked at Smoke, who had fucked up, slipped the named, then back at Abby. He smirked and put a hand behind his back. He saw the girl was panicking, that was good. She was flustered and would make her not think straight.
"That was a handshake," Avery said, "if you don't wish the help we won't give it, we'll just go to your farm."
"It was a slips, I'm bad with names," Smoke said, "Ashley, Abby, Amber, Amanda, what does it matter. It started with an A, all I know."
-------
Dean looked at Abby for what to do. If they knew her name they must know Max. Max wouldn't just give her name up though, he'd die before he told anyone her name. That scared Dean a little, he didn't know what that would be, didn't like it at all. Without even realizing it Dean raised the pipe above his head and brought it down hard on Smoke's shoulder.
"Run! Now," he shouted as he swung the pipe again.
------
Avery saw the pipe go down and Smoke drop. He lunged forward and grabbed Abby, grabbed her by the neck. He pinned her agaisnt the tree with his arm, "I didn't want this. Didn't want to have to hurt you."
Abby couldn't breath. He was in her face, spewing words, but she wasn't able to pay attention. Her mind raced, the bat had fallen from her hand. One hand pulled at his wrist, the other pushed at his chest. Dean had said to Run , but she hadn't gotten the chance. The tree pressed something hard into her back. Her gun! She stopped struggling and went for it. One hand slipped to her back and pulled it. She pushed it right up against his chest and cocked the trigger, "let go" she barely got out, fighting for air, breathing mostly through her nose.
Abby wanted to shoot, god only knows what held her back from doing it.
Avery kept pushing down, harde and harder on to her neck. He felt her hit his chest and claw at his arm but he didn't care. Even the gun against his chest didn't scare him, if she wasn't going to shoot now, she wouldn't. He kept her line agains the tree, atm against her neck. "Stop fighting and we can work this out like civilized people. I didn't want to have to do this, but your friend, Brian, he Attacked first.
------
Smoke's fist flew into Dean again and again. The medic was on his back, life knocked out of his face. Blood pooled from his nose, runnig down his cheek. Smoke kept punching, wasn't stopping. He hit him hard again an stepped back, grabbing the pipe. "Let's just finish this girl off and get out of here tie them behind us and leave them with the others."
-----
Dean felt the fist hit his face and fell to the ground. The biker was on him, hitting him again and again. His nose swelled and lumps formed. He tasted blood, lots of blood. Then with one last punch, his world went dark and he tells limp on the ground.
-----
Avery, looked into the woman's eyes. "Yeah we saw your friend with the cast. Have him tie up along side your other friend. He isn't going anywhere. We made sure of that. Can't even limp away."
Abby saw Dean and her heart pounded in her chest. She was alone, utterly alone with these two. Her hand shook on the gun, her body trembled. Could she do it? A flash of Pete's face , she blinked. Her eyes saw Kal again. This wasn't her, she wasn't a killer, a flash of Pete's face.
Abby struggled to get control. She kept seeing Pete's face. Why! He deserved it, he was hurting Max! She gripped the gun tightly, as Avery made a fatal error. He spoke about Max. She loved Max, would do anything for Max. His baby was inside her. She pulled the trigger, over and over. "Fuck you" she glared at Kal, her eyes full of rage. She forced herself to stop firing the gun, and stared at his face.
Avery felt the shot in his chest. He stumbled back, releasing his grip from her. He felt a shot again, and again, again. His shirt was soaked with blood, coming through his jacket. He felt the pain in his chest, he clutched it, but knew it would be no use. The bullets sprayed through him, the odd one going through and hitting the trees behind hit. The shots rang out, echoing in the trees. Some hit bone and he screamed out in pain.
Avery's legs buckled under him and he fell back. He collapsed to the ground with a thud, dirt flew up aroud him. Blood started to pool under him, the colour draining from his face. He felt the blood in his lungs and, pooling out of his mouth. He coughed and blood flew out. Then he was gone. It wouldn't be long before he would turn, his body twitching and starting to turn the shade of dead already.
----
Smoke scampered back, his limbs moving and the gun from his belt produced. He held it up at her, aiming at her. He looked down the sights but didn't move. His eyes looked at Dean on the ground, next to Avery. He looked back up at Abby, "the fuck you do that for bitch. Think we're going to tell you where your little friend is now?"
Abby stared at Smoke as he spoke. She looked sorta wild, "I know you won't, but you already did, he said he is tied up, and I just have to back track your trail, not that fucking hard." Her gun was pointed at him, "Take care of your friend, before he comes back and takes care of you." She moved over to Dean, and grabbed his arm. Abby started to walk away, dragging Dean. She glanced at Smoke, "You would have done the same to all of us, my friends at the farm as well, I just did it first." She pointed her gun at him, "you better put a head shot in him soon, not much longer now." She glanced at Avery, then back at Smoke, "Shame, why we all have to fight each other, and not try to help each other." She was cold, her voice held nothing, no emotion and her face, it was a blank slate. She snapped, was done giving a shit about anyone else, except her own. She could kill, she had killed and would do it again, and this time, it didn't bother her.

Smoke looked at the body. "Fuck that," he said running off. He left Avery laying there, slowly turning near Abby. He ran back the road to his bike, stsrted it up and took off down the road. He slowly made his way back to the farm, going a different way then he came.
