Acer made sure all was being done properly to prepare for their alligator feast tonight, even helping out as he gathered up wood and stoking the fire. He was hungry. They were all hungry and they were going to eat well tonight. He even had a good mind to grab a bottle of wine from the kitchen. When Julius came back in, he would offer up what was promised...a tour of the home. He pondered keeping some secrets to himself, mostly the room where he slept which happened to be the master suite. He led this sojourn across New Orleans and he was the one that lost good friends to get to and maintain this facility. It was deserved in his mind and no one else could claim it.
"Well, follow me then."
He led Julius through the large dining room that was mostly used for communal sleeping. At night, the only thing that brought light in was a window that was covered with dark curtains, so it worked well. He took him past a den that was filled with all sorts of book that were laying all over the place.
"Some of these books are pretty dull reading. This used to be the home of a congressman so you can imagine what kind of boring bullshit he had to read every day."
But there were some other novels that could pass the time.
He took him past a hall with black and white tiled floors towards the staircase that went straight up with wide rails, leading to the first set of bedrooms. He kept his bedroom door shut and locked, but there were other ones that had been occupied..and abandoned.
"It's up to you if you want to stay up here, down stairs or in your motorhome at night. Just know that we keep the house locked up tight at night. If we find a door unlocked, there will be trouble. Even your bedroom door is supposed to be locked."
Some forgot to do that and they suffered until they learned.
There were bathrooms that were pretty much unused when it came to the toilets, but the tubs were used to store water that was purified with bleach and down the end of the hallway was another staircase that led upstairs. He wasn't sure if he should take Julius up there just yet. If he asked, the tour would continue.
"That's about the most of it, for now."
