Amelia sat up in bed, groggy but awake. She looked at her husband sleeping next to her and then the beds around her, both empty and occupied. It appeared that Jack had gotten up already, so had Drake and Jeff. The three were probably in the armory talking about another trip outside. She stood up and stretched, I should wake up Victoria and help her make breakfast. Lately Amelia had been learning from Victoria about cooking but so far all she's learned is that she is a very bad cook. She walked over to Victoria's bed, kneeling down she shook her softly. Victoria was a light sleeper and was soon sitting up and ready to start the day.
Leaving Felix asleep in bed, Amelia and Victoria walked into what was once the main lobby of the Showcase theater. Victoria made an off hand comment to Amelia about how she felt more like a chef in this world because it was more of a challenge to make meals. Amelia stopped off at the Armory first, asking the boys if they were going to eat first, her inquiry was met with a resounding yes. She met back up with Victoria at the old concession stand, Victoria had already pulled out 4 bags of ramen noodles.
"I don't think ramen counts as cooking," Amelia laughed. Victoria fake laughed and took her knife to the unwrapped blocks, chopping them in halves. Due to a current food shortage they were only allowed a small portion at breakfast, lunch and dinner, no one ever missed a meal because of this. Victoria turned on the small camper burner and put a pot of water on. They were lucky the lived in an area with a number of water towers, getting the water was tedious but worth it. The water was never wasted here, Victoria uses as little water as she needs and leaves the rest for drinking water.
"You should wake up Felix," Victoria said putting in the first portion of ramen, "Breakfast will be ready before you know it."
