Dale pushed his attention back towards Jake and shrugged, "I came out here to relax. So what if we suddenly had to fight off some walkers, I'm still doing what I came out here to do, and as soon as we get back I'll get down to business again." He quickly turned Jake around and walked him away from the two. He pulled Jake down to his level and tried his best to whisper so the other two wouldn't hear, "I wanna let loose, but like I said, I ain't so quick to trust. Let's take turns enjoying the water. You can go first."
After his little conversation with Jake, he sat next to the water and submerged his feet. Upon further consideration of his new post, you could see that his guns were placed to his side where he could easily reach them. "So then. Let's relax!" He said with a sigh of finality.

Jake smiled at Dale his comment. “Haha that’s the spirit.” Jake said referring to the part where Dale said he still was going to do what he came here for. Just then Dale pulled Jake a little bit away for the others. Jake lowered himself to Dale his height. He nodded as Dale said it was best to take turns while relaxing. “I couldn’t agree more, you might like the girl, but always be careful.” Jake said with a small wink. He hoped Dale wouldn’t mind him joking about the girl.
As Jake walked back he heard Dale yelling it was time to relax. Since Dale said Jake could go first, he placed his guns next to Dale.
“Keep an eye on them, that blade is important to me, the gun not so much, but it’s nice to change some time. “ Jake said with a smile. Then he kneeled and took of his boots and socks. They where wet from the water so he placed both the boots and socks in the sun to dry. He didn’t feel comfortable enough to swim in his boxers, so he decided to go in the water with his jeans. He wasn’t shy or anything, but if there was another attack or walkers, it would suck to fight them off in just his boxers.
Jake walked into the water and cleaned himself, he washed all the blood off and enjoyed the water. The sun made sure the water was hot enough. After all it was spring and it started to get warmer.
Skylar shrugged. "Why not have fun?" She smiled; a genuine smile. She threw her bag and hatchet down, and began to untie her boots. She slipped the right one off, and began working on the next one. I might not know how to swim, but that doesn't mean I can't sit in the water. She finished taking her boots off, along with her socks. Skylar took off her jeans, which revealed shorts. "What?" She laughed as her brother was giving her a weird look. She punched him in the arm, playfully. She left her tank top on because she had a spare shirt already. She pulled her partially wet hair into a pony tail, getting it off her neck.
Skylar stepped into the water, and walked into it until it reached her knees. She looked over at the man, whose name was Jake, and he was currently washing all the blood and dirt off of him. She smiled slightly. "I wish things could always be like this." She said to nobody in particular. She sat down, and sighed. She looked over toward her brother who was taking his gear off.
Sky looked around, enjoying not being nervous. She didn't want to let her guard down, but it was really hard for her. Skylar fiddled with a string that was hanging off her shorts. She realized the shorts were almost too big; she had lost a lot of weight. She ignored it, and shut her eyes. She began to daydream about her life before the apocalypse; more like have a daymare. She felt the hits her father had given her. She felt the thick belt coming down onto her arms. She felt the loss of air when her father had halfway drowned her in the bathtub. She jolted out of her trance, and stood up, fidgeting. She got out of the water, tracing the scars her father had given her. She stopped at the burn, and looked at her brother realizing there were tears on her face.
Gray watched as his sister began taking her boots off. He sat down on the ground, watching his sister. Seeing how happy she was made Gray's mood shoot up. He smiled as she pranced into the water, and how careful she was about it going past her knees. He eventually stopped watching her, and he set his bag on the ground next to him. "So, how big is y'all's group?" He was referring this question toward Dale. Gray took off some of his gear, and looked back at his sister. She said something, but Gray couldn't hear what she said.
Gray looked down at his shoes, and noticed a tiny hole beginning to form. He looked back up and saw his sister standing up with tears in her eyes and she was tracing her scars. His sister walked out of the water, and Gray pulled her toward him.
Dale had nonchalantly removed his revolver from his holster belt, and spun it around old western style as he watched Jake get into the water. He realized by the time he got in that the blood he had to clean off would be solid from the sun's exposure, but his mind quickly fell from that subject. He didn't particularly care for Jake's joke, as he hadn't thought about a girl in that respect in a long time. He had only just met Skylar moments ago, and beauty isn't what he really cared about, even if it was a plus. If he decided to be with somebody in this life, he'd have to know she could take care of herself if he wasn't there, and he knew absolutely nothing about her. He still could help but blush and avert his gaze when she showed a little extra skin, and pulled her hair up.
Her brother got near him and he stopped twirling his gun around, and instead sat it on his lap with a firm grip on it's handle. His trigger finger held the trigger lightly despite his tight grip though, and he paid close attention to Gray. "I don't really know. I haven't paid enough attention or cared enough to count, but maybe ten or so." As Skylar came up to Gray and he pulled her closer, Dale found himself in an uncomfortable situation. The closeness of the siblings unnerved him for some reason, and even made him feel like scooting a few yards away. He didn't however, and kept his composure as he waited for whatever question he'd be asked next.

Jake enjoyed the water, but he kept an eye on Dale too. Not far from him Skylar stood in the water, but it seemed like something was wrong. Her eyes got watery and she rushed out of the water. Jake was done anyway so he followed after Skylar. He walked over to Dale and sat down next to him. It was a good spot, since the sun would help get him dry. “Everything ok with her?” Jake asked as he looked a Gray. He wanted to know if she was fine, but he also knew that they wouldn’t tell what the problem was, which was normal since it was probably something private and trust was needed for that. “Your turn btw.” Jake said with a smile referring to the water as he looked at Dale.
Skylar buried her face into her brother's chest. "Why does this keep happening to me?" She said, sniffling. She looked over at Dale and Jake. She quickly turned her head, Feeling her tears against her brother's shirt. She was still tracing her scar when she felt a burning sensation in her shoulder. She whimpered, looking like a helpless puppy. She pushed away from her brother, letting a few tears fall from her face.
Skylar wiped her eyes, and walked over to her bag. She unzipped it and grabbed a black t-shirt. She quickly put it over her head, and slipped it on. Skylar pulled her arms into the shirt, and took her tank top off. She threw it at her brother. The tears that were once on her face, disappeared. They were covered up by a cold, emotionless face.
Gray watched as his sister built up the barrier against people once more. He looked at Jake, answering the question by shaking his head. "It's a long story." Gray was tracing his scar now too. He knew what was happening; she was putting up a barrier to other people. She only lets people that she's close to get into her mind. "I'll explain what's wrong later," Gray said as a small frown played on his face. Gray knew it would be a long time until she would talk to him again. He watched as Skylar stared at him. Her eyes were cold, almost scary.
Gray looked away from his sister as he took his shirt off to get into the water. After he took his shirt off, he walked to Sky, and gently hugged her. She pushed him away, and turned around to where she was facing the woods. She sat down as Gray was untying his boots. He took off his socks and shoes and set them aside. He slowly walked past where his sister was sitting, and he walked into the water.
Dale was becoming more awkward as the newcomers showed certain colors of themselves. He wasn't quite sure how to take the girl's sudden influx of emotion, so he didn't say anything. Leaving his weapons next to Jake except his sword, he jumped into the water with his clothes on as the blood needed cleaned from them as well. He got a firm foothold in the riverbed and approached Grey. "So what was that all about?" He asked him a nod of his head in Skylar's direction and with a aura of sincere interest about him.
Gray heard Dale ask him the question. He sighed, and looked at the boy. "She used to be abused before all hell broke loose," He peeked back at his sister. "It really messed her up." He looked at his shoulder, and pointed to his scar. "She has one too," He looked at Dale, still pointing at the scar. "He tried to catch her on fire, but I stopped him. It sounds really extreme, but it happened." He looked back at the burn. "She traces it when she gets nervous or when she's scared."
Gray tried to look happy by smiling, but the gleam of sadness still played in his eyes. "I feel really bad for her.. she's in the process of shutting everyone out because of the whole thing," He sighed. "She stops letting people help her. She stops talking to people. I don't know what to do to help her either. Maybe if you talked to her, it would be different."

Jake just sat down guarding the weapons and keeping an eye on Dale, so that if something went wrong he could rush to the boy? His eyes then searched for the girl, who just had sort of a panic attack. He wanted to call her over, to ask how she was doing, but for now he thought it was best to leave her be. He just relaxed in the sun and enjoyed the warmth for now, besides he had to make sure his pants was getting dry and his body too so he could put his shirt back on. That reminded is that his shirt was dirty.
Jake grabbed it and walked to the river he let the water do its work got it back out and walked over to his shoes. He laid the shirt on them so it could dry as well. Then he walked back over to the guns and sat down.
Dale was mostly surprised at how open Gray was being with him, and didn't know how he felt about it either. He listened attentively while scrubbing himself down, and wasn't surprised about her strange behavior after hearing a bit about her past. He looked back at her without moving his head full circle, just a glimpse from the corner of his eyes, and then back at Gray.
"I don't know what I could do for her. I led a pretty decent life before this, despite the bullies, but it was good none the less. I guess it surprises me she clings onto something like that after transferring to a different kind of hell. I guess I can't say anything though since it's different for me." As he spoke the last few words, he turned around and waded out of the water. He could feel his shirt beginning to dry the moment he stepped out from the heat, and he hadn't felt clean like that in a long time. His shoes slid on quickly from the tug of his hands after he sat down next to Jake, and he quickly got his gear back on. He leaned back, placing his hands on the ground behind him, and looked up at the sky. He was already not wanting to return to the camp. The number of of people he had surrounding him right then was nice, but he'd be smothered as soon as his feet hit the camp grounds.
A tear rolled down her nose, and fell onto the ground. She looked up at the sky, feeling the sun beating down onto her skin. She dug her hands into the dirt, and sighed.
"Why does this keep happening to me.." She whimpered looking down. Skylar brought her knees up to her stomach, and she gently laid her head on her knees. She shook her head, very confused at the mixed feelings. She was happy that she met new people, and not to mention a boy her age for once, and she was frightened at the memories of her father beating her. She heard Dale getting out of the water, so she slightly turned her head, realizing warm tears were spilling out of her eyes.
Skylar looked out of the corner of her eye, and caught a glimpse of Dale and Jake sitting. She realized what she needed to do. She needed to shut her emotions off; shut everyone out. If she didn't, she knew she would get attached to someone, and they would end up hurting her, or maybe the other way around. Skylar thought of herself as a grenade. She could explode at anytime. Her emotions were overwhelming to her, and they would begin to control her if she didn't turn them off. She squirmed where she sat, and looked straight forward.
Gray watched as Dale got out of the water. He looked over at Skylar who had her back facing toward everyone. Gray began moving out of the water, and toward his sister. He walked into the shore, and to his sister. Gray knew that she was close to shutting everyone and everything out.
"Hey Skye," He said, touching her shoulder. She continued to look forward, completely ignoring Gray. He walked in front of her, and looked at her; she was a mess. Her face was streaked with dried tears, her eyes were red and puffy, and she had new tears forming in her eyes.
"Oh, Skylar." Gray said, looking into her eyes. He was trying to make her come back. She looked down, not making eye contact with Gray. He could easily see that she was falling apart without being able to cry in someone's arms over what she was feeling. She had cried in Grays arms too much already, and she had felt the need to stop.
"You have me, sis." He said, smiling weakly. He stood up, knowing that she wanted to be alone. He walked over to his gear, and began putting it back on, getting ready to leave.

Jake watched how Dale walked back to him and sat down next to him. “Water was nice right?” he asked with a smile. Dale was looking up at the sky and Jake smiled. “You like it here huh, pretty quiet, earlier you spoke about the group, aren’t you happy anymore?” Jake asked. He had to be careful on how to handle Dale, but maybe the boy just wanted someone to talk to.
Then he looked at Gray and Skylar and things weren’t going great. For now he wouldn’t ask questions, but he did feel bad for Skylar. He just met the two, but it felt like they both been through a lot, and Jake was always there to help people. But then again he couldn’t just trust anyone who passed their way. Plus there was a group where he needed to consult with. So for now he would take them to the camp and there they could vote. But on the way back, he would at least try to cheer up Skylar.
Dale looked over at Jake as he spoke and squinted a bit to block out the sun's rays. He pondered on the question, but he already knew the answer, "I haven't been happy in a long time Jake, and yes, the water felt good. I haven't bathed in forever. Felt like I was decaying inwards. I think we've rested enough though, so let's head back." He got up and checked himself to make sure he hadn't dropped anything, or nothing was missing in general, and began walking.
He walked by Skylar, moving his eyes downward without shifting his head to her, and stopped next to her. He looked ahead, and could feel his heart pounding quickly and heavily. All the time spent defeating fear against the monstrosities, human or undead, and he had never gotten over his shyness. He quickly knelt down, and quickly but gently took Skylar's hand, and blushing furiously, smiled at her. It was a genuine smile, unlike many times he had smiled recently, but it was still an awkward smile as was part of his personality. His eyes were serious as he spoke to her though, and he looked her right in her own, "There's no time for tears, let's go to our camp and get you settled. I'll stay by your side." He stood up, still holding her hand, and ready to help her up.
Skylar looked into Dale's eyes, and for the first time, she felt hope. Her hand was shaking slightly, and she was blushing. She smiled for a second when Dale said he was by her side. A few more tears ran down Skylar's face, but she quickly wiped them off with the back of her hand. She nodded her head, and she pulled up, using Dale's hand for support. She stood up, looking into Dale's eyes, her cheeks becoming more red.
"Thank you," She said quietly, still not letting go of his hand. She looked down at their hands and slightly smiled. Skylar looked back up into Dale's eyes, and looked away quickly, blushing harder than she already was.
Gray looked over at Skylar and Dale, and smiled. He could see how the two were blushing. He turned around to face Jake.
"So," He paused, standing up from putting his shoes on. "Where are we going?" He asked the man, grinning. You could sense the excitement radiating off of Gray. He picked up his bag and Skylar's bag off of the ground.
"I'm really happy she gets a break from this shit," he motioned toward his sister, who was blushing furiously by Dale. "Not to mention a new 'friend'." He added emphasis when he said friend.

Jake heard how Dale said that he haven’t been happy in a long time and that got to him. A young boy like that deserved happiness even though it was the fucking apocalypse. Before he let Dale walk to the others he placed his hand on the boy his shoulder. “If there is anything I can do just let me know ok buddy?” he said with a smile and a wink. He hoped that Dale would feel a bit better if he knew he had someone to count on besides is father.
He then watched how Dale tried to what looked like cheering up Skylar. Dale then all of the suddent kneeled next to her and grabbed her hand. “Oh looks like a prince move there.” Jake said to himself with a little smile. It was out of Dale his comfort zone and Jake was sort of glad he needed to stop closing himself off. But of course he would keep an eye on the two, last thing Dale needed was someone hurting his feelings.
Just then Gray walked closer to him and asked where they were headed to. “Well to our camp.” Jake said as he grabbed his shirt and put it on. Then he walked over to his shoe, lucky for hi they already dried in the sun. He put his sock on followed by his boots. Then he walked back to Gray. “Glad someone is still excited during these dark days.” Jake said with a smile. Then Gray said he was happy Skylar would get a break and a new friend referring to Dale. “Well they both been through a lot, so let’s make sure they don’t hurt each other anymore, I’m sure they won’t but I’ll keep an eye out for them.” Jake said with a smile. Then he grabbed his gear and placed everything where he needed to be. “You are pretty young yourself, maybe it’s good that you have a break too.” Jake said with a smile. “I’m ready.” He added as he walked over to Dale.
Dale nodded at Jake, and gently released his hand from Skylar's grasp. He didn't want her to get sad about it, as he could tell she was blushing just as much as him, so he stood beside her and wrapped his arm around her back and his hand was placed over her shoulder. Dale smiled at her, still blushing, but not as much after a moment of holding her like that. "Let's head back to our camp." He began walking into step besides Jake and Gray with Skylar, but he couldn't hear what the guys were saying, so he just remained silent and alert.
