Dale walked through the woods like a ghost, his footsteps soft and silent. Jake marched beside him, sounding like a elephant parading through the shrubbery. He hadn't really said much since they started out except that he definitely didn't want to learn to drive today. He had promised Jake that'd he'd learn soon though. He was still feeling out his father's new companion. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but Dale decided he needed to get out of his shell and figure him out fully to be sure. That's what this trip was all about. He said flat out he wanted to go to the river, not giving Jake much wiggle room on the topic, and heading straight out without another word.
Maybe it was because he never had a moment to relax since the apocalypse started, but he had been slightly lazy since they arrived there. He would pull himself out of that mood soon enough, but for now, he was drenching himself in some nice cool river water. They hadn't encountered many undead along the way, only three had to be dealt with, and both of the fellows took turns taking them out. Sweat formed on their bodies as they trekked on, and eventually heard the rush of springtime water. As they cleared the woods and beheld a small waterfall, and a relatively shallow area of the river, Dale breathed in heavily and rejoiced in the smell of the dew formed by the splashing water on the newly sprouted greenery nearby.
"I'm hot. Let's get cleaned up. What do you say?" Dale said as he began stripping down to his pants only. He walked towards the water and placed his firearms close to the edge down the river a bit just in case he needed to get to them quickly. He smiled back at Jake before running to a deeper part of the river, and jumped in, making as big of a splash as his small frame could. He floated to the surface, and let the rushing water carry him to the shallow area where he regained his footing, and double checked that his guns were in the right spot. Confident he could get to them quickly, he waved Jake in, "I feels nice!" He would be fine as long as he stayed in the shallow area. He didn't fear the water, actually loved it, but just like driving, he never had time to learn to swim.
